Na última segunda-feira (23), a Companhia Municipal de Trânsito e Urbanização (CMTU) passou a utilizar radares móveis para identificar quem ultrapassasse o limite de velocidade em diversos pontos da cidade.

Polêmica

O vereador Joel Garcia (PDT) fez um requerimento no qual ele cobra um recurso especial anulando a validade das multas aplicadas por meio desse sistema em Londrina. Este recurso especial proposto pelo Ministério Público questiona a aplicação de multas por sociedades de economia mista.

Segundo Garcia, as medidas para melhorar o trânsito devem começar na educação básica. O vereador ainda complementa que a utilizaçãos dos radares móveis agravaria a suituação ilegal da “indústria da multa“.

Rains over most of Florida. We did not note a whole lot of movement last night. A dry air mass will move in as the rains boogie out and a cold front will bring down temps into the 50’s by Thanksgiving night. Hopefully the front will bring down some winter migrants for us all to enjoy on our Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Size and weight
If the radar detector is not permanently mounted, or if you want to use it with different vehicles, the size and weight of the thing may be important to you.

Outer appearance
They say looks don’t matter. Of course that’s true if it is not relevant to the performance of the thing. However, a point to note is that radar detectors with metallic coating might produce glare in bright sunlight.

Modes
Highway mode or city mode? Or both? City mode decreases the sensitivity of the detector and shorten the detection range so that you get fewer false alerts. This is helpful in the city where there are plenty of security alarm. When in highway mode the radar detector becomes more sensitive and will be able to detect radars a longer way off.

Most of the mid-end models nowadays have both modes for you to change as you drive.

Laser detection
Try to find out whether your local police uses laser beams. Some radar detectors are also laser detectors, and they usually detect laser beams in front. The best radar laser detectors with 360-degree laser detection can also detect beams on the sides and behind but are more costly.

GPS technology

Power cord
Check also the length of the power cord and the side it is attached to the detector. This may not sound important, but you never know. People have complained that the power cord is not long enough to connect to the supply or that the power cord crosses the dashboard in an untidy way.

Oh no, you forgot to take down the detector when you go into Washington, D.C.! (Radar detectors are illegal in Washington, D.C.) Get a radar detector with stealth operation, often called with different names such as Dark Mode or Spectre protection.

So you’ve bought the radar detector, and now you want to mount it in your car. So where is the best place and what is the best way to do this?

Unfortunately, there is not an easy answer. Choices usually come down to either mounting the detector high on the windshield or visor or low on the windshield or dashboard, and there are advantages and disadvantages to both.

First and foremost,
It’s a good idea to find out a little more on the type of electronic transmitting devices your local police is using. The two common types are radar guns and laser guns.

Radar is basically a microwave radio signal. This radar beam can normally penetrate glass, plastic, cardboard and even your body. What radar has a problem penetrating are metals, including some window tints that have metalized layers.

Laser is a light beam. Because the beam is narrow, and light, the beam can be effected by virtually anything you put between the laser gun and the detector.

High Mounting
A detector that is mounted high can catch radar signals sooner than one that is mounted low. This is particularly true in hilly terrain, or when your vehicle is traveling up a hill and a police officer is targeting traffic from the other side. A high mounted detector will encounter the radar signal sooner, providing you more time to decelerate.

Unfortunately, a highly mounted radar detector increases your risk of missing a laser alert. Since police officers usually aim the laser at a front license plate or a headlight, a high mounted detector will be unable to receive any of the “splatter” that may indicate you are being targeted by a police laser gun.

Low Mounting
By mounting your radar detector low, on the windshield or attached to the dash (make sure that the windshield wipers are not blocking the front), you will lose a little in radar range, but gain a whole lot in the ability to detect laser.

Always ensure that controls are accessible
No matter how you decide to mount your radar detector, it is important to make sure that you can easily reach the volume and mode controls (highway, city and mute) on your detector with ease to avoid distractions and unnecessary accidents.

Last night a frontal system of low pressure pushed across central FL. slowing down migration of wintering birds. Not a whole lot was on the move once the system started to drop rain into the area. There was some activity after the front started to dissipate and movement was noted moving south into the southern area of the peninsula with most of the activity to be around the lake. Miami radar did pick up some light movement into the region that may be found at local inland migrant hotspots. Hopefully more of the Goldies and Robins will be headed south as we miss them down here in Miami. The central portions of the state did have some localized movements but they seem to have been looking for better feeding opportunities instead of moving big distances. Look for new birds in your area but we expect most of the birds to be wintering birds that are just moving around.
Moving into the middle of the week we can expect some rainy weather for Wednesday and more rain for turkey day in connection with a low that has developed in the Carolinas. After the front passes through we have a dry down coupled with a cold blast for South Florida standards, temps will drop into the 50’s on Friday and Saturday nights but the trend will start off on Thursday. High temps will be in the high 60’s low 70’s from Thursday into next week, this will make for nice birding weather, Florida birders should take advantage of the days off and do some serious biding as at least one rarity should be out there waiting to be discovered. Wish everyone a great short work week and an awesome Thanksgiving, this year it will include some great weather which has been missing for several years.

El personaje es la infancia.

Siempre hubo niños, claro, pero ¿cuándo se inventa la infancia? Jim Yang afirma —porque yo se lo hago decir— que la idea de infancia se construye en la Inglaterra victoriana. Antes, durante todo el siglo XVIII, los niños no habían sido considerados otra cosa que adultos en miniatura, animales casi salvajes y pícaros, envases vacíos que debían llenarse con el líquido y la materia del conocimiento básico para que crecieran rápido y ocuparan pronto el sitio en la sociedad que les correspondía o que les había tocado en suerte.

De acuerdo, los padres fueron expulsados de allí por sus pecados; pero los niños pueden aventurarse a buscarlo, encontrar el camino de vuelta, regresar. Lo importante ese, de  pronto, crecer lo menos posible, ser pequeño para poder pasar por las pequeñas puertas mágicas.

En Jardines de Kensington, Rodrigo Fresán intentó hacer una biografía no rigurosa del escritor inglés James Matthew Barrie, autor del clásico libro infantil mencionado. Valorado por diversos críticos como una pluma importante de la narrativa iberoamericana contemporánea, personalmente le debo varios descubrimientos musicales que hacen mejor mi colección: gracias a sus colaboraciones en el suplemento Radar, del diario argentino Página/12, conocí el trabajo de Jim White y The La’s. No he podido constatarlo, pero se dice que Mantra es su obra más interesante.

Además de la ilustración de una de las varias pruebas para detectar daltonismo y de la viñeta, de alguna forma inspirada en el canción The Teddy Bears Picnic, me pareció importante rescatar la foto que le realizó Terry Richardson a Macaulay Culkin, convertido en ojeroso y junkie Peter Pan. Casualidad aparte la relación del actor infantil con Michael Jackson, quien llamara Neverland a su hogar-parque de diversiones.

Chatines y chatinas conductores… mucho ojito a la hora de circular, porque en 4 años ha aumentado el número de radares en toda la provincia, llegando a ser hasta 21 los terminales que nos están vigilando día y noche cómo circulamos por las carreteras de La Terreta.
Cierto es que ante los accidentes de tráfico toda precaución es poca, pero visto lo visto llegará un momento que con tanta cámara les servirá para algo más que para pillarnos “in fraganti” en cuanto a velocidad se refiere.

There are very few people on my friends list like that, however one lady has believed in me as a model from day one and that is one Ms Madison Sullivan – CEO of The Butterfly Modelling Agency. I will never be able to thank her enough for her belief but as a start I am urging you all to take a visit to this fashion show tonight. It may not be a well known agency but it is ran smoothly and the models so hard working….. plus how many “male fashion only” shows have there been in SL over the past year?? Not many I can guarantee you So get yourself down to this hair show….. and even you girlies out there might pick up a style tip or too :b

Na passada sexta-feira, 20 de Novembro, a Convenção sobre os Direitos daCriança completou 20 anos, duas décadas da existência do tratado internacional de direitos humanos mais amplamente ratificado da história, dado que todos os países do mundo o assinaram, e só dois não o ratificaram.

A Convenção assenta em quatro pilares fundamentais que estão relacionados com todos os outros direitos das crianças:

• a não discriminação, que significa que todas as crianças têm o direito de desenvolver todo o seu potencial, todas as crianças, em todas as circunstâncias, em qualquer momento, em qualquer parte do mundo.

• o interesse superior da criança deve ser uma consideração prioritária em todas as acções e decisões que lhe digam respeito.

• a sobrevivência e desenvolvimento sublinha a importância vital da garantia de acesso a serviços básicos e à igualdade de oportunidades para que as crianças possam desenvolver-se plenamente.

• a opinião da criança que significa que a voz das crianças deve ser ouvida e tida em conta em todos os assuntos que se relacionem com os seus direitos.

A Convenção contém 54 artigos, que podem ser divididos em quatro categorias de direitos:

• os direitos à sobrevivência (ex. o direito a cuidados adequados)
• os direitos relativos ao desenvolvimento (ex. o direito à educação)
• os direitos relativos à protecção (ex. o direito de ser protegida contra a exploração)
• os direitos de participação (ex. o direito de exprimir a sua própria opinião)

Para melhor realizar os objectivos da CDC, a Assembleia Geral da ONU adoptou a 25 de Maio de 2000 dois Protocolos Facultativos:

Protocolo Facultativo à Convenção sobre os Direitos da Criança relativo à venda de crianças, prostituição e pornografia infantis (ratificado por Portugal a 16 de Maio de 2003);

Protocolo Facultativo à Convenção sobre os Direitos da Criança relativo ao envolvimento de crianças em conflitos armados (ratificado por Portugal a 19 de Agosto de 2003);

Dumper began as an after-hours DJ and Mural artist there. For a few years Dumper did freelance graphics and logo work for such artists Vanilla Ice, Sugar Ray, Everlast, The Headquarters, Zulu Nation, Hip Step Massive, XIS, and many more from punk rock to hip hop.

Concentrating on his graphic and live painting Dumper hit the Music circuit hard performing and promoting at numerous events from Raves to Concerts in the mid to late 90’s.

In 2002 Dumper teamed up with Keith Nichols, Emerg McVay, Hyder, Catalyst and friends to start his new venture, The Blunt Club. For the past years the Blunt Club has been Arizona’s Hip Hop church, hosting nearly every local live painter, poet, mc, dj, fashion designer, and beyond, supporting the artistic community in a multidimensional format.  The Blunt Club has since been named one of the top “101 hot spots in the U.S” by Spin magazine, as well as AZ’s “Best Hip Hop Night 2003-2006″ by Phoenix New Times and 944 magazine.

In 2003 Dumper founded with Baron Gordon, the Alpha Monster Art Collective, consisting of over 20 members globally. The collective’s goals are to advance each artist, business wise and ethically, give back to the community.Currently Dumper and the Alpha Monster’s perform all over the USA traveling and doing gallery events, to hip hop shows & Festivals , every final Friday at Club 909, First Friday’s downtown at the UM Gallery , and every Thursday at the Blunt Club In Tempe AZ .
