Anders dan de cover doet vermoeden, is Fabric 48 van Matt ‘Radio Slave’ Edwards geen experimentele melancholieke plaat geworden, integendeel. De plaat loopt over van energieke conga’s, djembe’s en aanverwante percussies – het toonaangevende Resident Advisor spreekt zelfs van een ‘Rainforest House 2009 mix’. Tracks als Tribal; My Time, The Beginning, La Mascala, Koma Koma, My Heart en de kneiter van een hit La Mazcla zijn allemaal voorbeelden van deze tropensound.

Een kleurrijke track als Platter Sugar met een zeer aanstekelijke saxo of de afsluiter Maximum Overload met een knipoog naar acid springen er dus duidelijk uit. Over het algemeen is de sound goed te typeren als tribal minimal/house, met duidelijke Radio Slave mixstouch. De cd bouwt vrij constant op, de platen nemen de tijd en de cd is live gemixt, aangezien er een paar hele kleine schoonheidsfoutjes in de mix zitten. Niet erg, juist spannend.

Met de sound van Radio Slave weet de gemiddelde househead wat voor vlees het in de kuip haalt. Voor sommige luisteraars is het te eentonig, andere zullen dit als de kracht van Radio Slave ervaren. Feit is wel dat deze Fabric van Radio Slave opnieuw veel kwaliteit in huis heeft en de reputatie van Radio Slave hoog houdt. 4/5

This is the first post I’ve ever done about minimal and tech stuff. Not surprising, given that about 90% of dance music blogs invest the most interest in electro, house, indie-dance, remixery, mashups and blah blah blah. Honestly, I like minimal probably more than any other kind of dance music, but I’m reluctant to post anything about it because it gets such a small amount of attention in this ‘indiecentric’ world. Give a listen to these, some of my favourite minimal works, you might enjoy them even if your tastes don’t run that way.

It was around 2006 when I first paid attention to Radio Slave aka Matt Edward’s production; at that time minimal techno was having a surge and taking the European house and techno scene by storm. I was very impressed by his 10-11 min long tracks, which have a deep, hypnotic appeal and very subtle progression.

It’s almost 2010 now and the domination of minimal techno is long gone. How does that affect the sound of Radio Slave, who is renowned for his dark and cold vibe? Before talking about that, it’s worthwhile to take a look at the current trends in the house and techno scene. According to my observation, there are two main directions:

1) Melodic and housey elements are coming back, things are getting a bit like the ‘progressive house’ era before its decline in 2005. Of course currently techy beats still haven’t been completely washed away and melodies are not as fluffy in the past; but if you listen to superstar DJs like Sasha, John Digweed, and Dave Seaman, you’ll see that they are now embracing sounds reminiscent of the progressive days.

2) Don’t feel disappointed if you prefer a darker flavour, because tracks with a dark mood and complex tribal drums are getting prominent as well. This direction is best illustrated by the releases on Steve Lawler’s Viva Music label, and,

Apparently Radio Slave took the second direction when creating this compilation. After Baeka’s ’Right At It’ (Michel Cleis Deeper Remix) outlines the dark soundscape of the mix in a rather atmospheric manner, rapid tribal drums took over in Radio Slave’s very own ‘DDB’, which is followed by the cinematic and spacey ‘I Don’t Need A Cure For This’, a track which has his signature hypnotic flavour that sucks your mind in.

Whilst the mix progresses quite well with the tribal drums and female vocal of Radio Slave’s remix of Dance Disorder’s ‘My Time’, a letdown occurs during the transition between this track and ‘Platter Sugar’ by Brothers’ Vibe. The problem is that whilst the later is much simpler in terms of its percussive structure, the momentum delivered by the tribal drums of the former is lost suddenly.

With the firing of warm melodies and tribal beats in Michel Cleis’ remix of Spencer Parker’s ‘The Beginner’, the mood gets uplifting and the energy level soars again; but then, the same problem occurs in a worse manner when it is transited to ‘Pain In the Ass’ by Nina Karviz (quite literally in this mix). As a matter of fact there is nothing wrong with the track itself – it’s an edgy minimal techno track with a rather moody female monologue; the problem is that the mixing is not subtle enough, so the warm mood of ‘The Beginner’ cannot be properly segued into the coldness of ‘Pain In The Ass’, which has much fewer melodic elements.

And then the next track ‘Balada Redo’ by DJ Boola disappointingly lacks the drive to inject fresh momentum to the flow, leading to a loosened, disjointed moment.

But thankfully, everything comes back with Steve Lawler’s remix of Radio Slave’s ‘Koma Koma’. Whilst its bold tribal drums bring a great deal of energy back to the mix, the ritualistic, monk-like vocals are absolutely amazing. For me, this track sounds like a group of monks singing in a sacred temple on a mountain; it is so spiritual that it takes your mind into another space.

Paul Sanchez’s remix of ‘My Heart’ by Spencer Parker then does a good job in maintaing the momentum and preparing for the arrival of the mix’s climax  -

‘La Mezcla’ by Michel Cleis

This track is unique in the sense that the torrential tribal beats match perfectly with the nursery rhyme-like melody of the flute; they make perfect sense together. Plus the uplifting Spanish female vocal, this track just tore my head off.

The flow continues to go well with 2000 & One’s ‘Wan Poku Moro‘, which features a ‘live speech’ by a woman supported by a mass of chanting voices. The processed sounds of  her yelling and the audience’s cheering are effective in messing around in your head.

The compilation then comes to an end with ‘Maximum Overload’ by Nate William’s Club Patrol (Roy’s Death Wish Mix), a relatively more traditionally sounding techno track. Rather than offering another surprise, it seems that at the end of the mix Radio Slave wants to lead the listener back to a mesmerising, self-absorbing techy flow that will never cease.

In my opinion, this is not an all-rounded mix – so-so mixing, slightly disappointed programming, but great track selection. If you want to have a taste of the current dark tribal development in the house and techno scene, don’t miss it.

Looks like DJ Hell and P Diddy are back again, working together on a single titled The DJ where they are set to redefine what constitutes dancefloor techno. With remixes by the likes of Radio Slave, Spencer Parker, Jay Haze, SIS and Paul Woolford, I’d say they’re well on their way with those alone, but it only starts there.

It isn’t necessarily a particular sound they’re aiming for- most of the release’s concentration is rooted in track length. Radio Slave’s version weighs in at 28 minutes of what will add up to over an hour once it’s all through. ‘Why?’ you might ask? This statement calls back to an era where the extended version of a song was more coveted than a trimmed down radio-edit. Fuck a “Crowd-Pleaser.”

i fear some of these charts may be getting a bit repetitive – but hey, i’m just repping what i love you know. glass house is slowly working its way up my tunes of the year list, may well be at the top by december. as for that hell track – yeah there’s been some controversy, but the remix package is to die for. radioslave wins for the sheer balls of making a motherf*ckin’ 28 minute version for the two motherf*ckers that understand it. i’m one of them

No – it’s not your eyes playing tricks on you – this is the indeed the full 28. minutes remix by Radio Slave of DJ Hell feat. P.Diddy – “The DJ”.

Matt Edwards aka Radio Slave has always revelled in long mixes, but here he takes Diddy’s roll-call “This goes out to all the mother fuckers that like 15-20 minute versions of a mother fucking record ” quite literally and extends the original 9 min. version to a (mother fucking) half hour!

I count myself as one of those mother fuckers who likes 15-20 minute versions – if they have all the right ingredients in them – and you would think you’d get bored of listening to this, but it couldn’t be further from the truth.

The Radio Slave remix is a beast of a record – building its foundation on the classic 28th. Street Crew bassline, from “I Need A Rhythm”, which locks you right into its irresistible groove “for you to do your thing”, sprinkling Diddy and his rantings in a sea of FX’s and seriously sending you onto the main 5.A.M floor where you’ll find “The Heads”!

The last 10. mins. are equally a chapter in its own right, where Radio Slave have added lush piano parts before winding everything down at the 28. min. mark.

This is essentially super-large Big Room shit – and believe me – it’s worth every minute of it!

Purveyours of fine Cosmic Space Disco – Eskimo Recordings – are in September set to follow their rather excellent “Cosmic Balearic Beats Vol. 1″ up with the second instalment inventively titled “Cosmic Balearic Beats Vol. 2″.

If you still haven’t sampled the initial release you are definitely in for a treat as the collection – in short – consists of – more or less – unknown artists signed to the series in order to provide them with a platform, but equally also to give Eskimo an opportunity to test drive new producers.

The result ? – is nothing less than absolute brilliance, and you get 16 blinding tracks along similar melodic lines as Aeroplane, Leo Zero, Lindstrøm & Prins Thomas and Henrik Schwarz. If you’re into this kind of Cosmic vibe – X-Mas just landed in September!

First single released from the compilation was Visti & Meyland’s club anthem – “Yess Maam (All Night Long)” – which is followed by Dance Disorder and “My Time”. On the album the original is a wicked mid-tempo beauty, but below you get the incredible Radio Slave strutting his Tribal magic over nothing less than 10′22″.

Basically funkier than a hippies armpit, and certainly one for “The Heads”!

ZONDAG: Appelsap, terug van wegggeweest en natuurlijk weer in het Oosterpark, zonder regen dit jaar! Hierheen ga je vooral voor de sfeer, maar ik wil één naam noemen: Benji B. Deze BBC radio one dj is wekelijks te beluisteren (zie zijkolom onder listen).

5 Tage Festival, 1000 Kilometer, Camping, Sturm, Gewitter, Regen und Sonne, und jede Menge gute Musik unter atemberaubender Baggerkulisse: Unser 4. Melt-Besuch ist vorbei. Und schon vorweggenommen: es war ziemlich großartig. Ich versuche mal die 5 Tage in Worte zu fassen – auch wenn dies schwierig und lang wird.

Melt! – das ist die wohl einzigartige Verschmelzung zwischen elektronischen Beats und großen Gitarrenriffs. Melt! – das ist auch die tollste Festival-Location in Deutschland (und sicher darüber hinaus…). Melt! – das ist mittlerweile ein internationaler Haufen von Menschen aus diesmal über 30 (!) Ländern. Melt! – das ist ein Festival, was nun sicher in der Liga der ganz Großen angekommen ist.

Musikalisch findet sich hier eine Mischung aus dem heißesten Scheiss, der gerade auf dem Markt ist, und altbewährten Stars. Diese Ausgewogenheit, und Klasse der Qualität, macht das Melt! zumindest in Deutschland einzigartig, und machen es daher auch immer beliebter. Daher hieß es auch erstmals: SOLD OUT! Und dies schon eine Woche vorher.

Donnerstag:

jump around the world..

Es ist heiß in Ferropolis. Sonnig, an die 30Grad würde ich sagen, und blauer Himmel. Man kommt ordentlich ins Schwitzen unterwegs und beim Camping-Aufbau. Erstmal das Bier ins Trockeneis und einen kühlen Schluck genehmigen. Ein Abstecher in den kühlen See und eine Runde schwimmen. Abends lernen wir schnell eine Gruppe Jungs kennen. Zeit rast vorbei. Jingle Bells und Bruder Jakob werden gesungen. Überall sind Briten unterwegs. Neben uns direkt eine riesige Truppe aus Schottland. Caravanparty ein bisschen noch. Und die erste lange Nacht war schnell vorüber.

Freitag:

Der Tag fängt gut an. Das Wetter ist bombig. Wir nutzen dies, um verkatert das Schlauchboot fertigzumachen, und einige Dosen Bier kalt zu stellen. Danach waren wir einige Stunden auf dem See, bzw. vornehmlich irgendwo im Schilf am rumgammeln und trinken Einige Zeit später: Der Himmel wird zunehmends schwarz: Alle warten auf das angekündigte Gewitter. Es ist gegen 4 Uhr nachmittags, als es plötzlich ganz windstill ist. Düster. Dann krachts. Mit diesem Donner fängts an zu stürmen als gäbe es kein Morgen mehr und in der nächsten Sekunde regnets wie aus Kübeln. Alle incl. uns sind damit beschäftigt ihre Pavillons festzuhalten; alles mögliche fliegt über die Campingfläche. Untergangsfeeling. Melt!-Untergang. Ich bin völlig durchnässt. 30 Minuten später ist es vorbei. Ein kollektiver erleichterter Jubelschrei läuft wie ein Feuer über den Zeltplatz. Weiter gehts. Oder jetzt erst Recht.

Gegen 20.30 Uhr ziehen wir los Richtung Festivalgelände. Dort spielen gerade die Klaxons auf der Mainstage. Nicht schlecht, die Jungs… aber uns ziehts erstmal los, den neuen Lageplan auszuchecken. Die neue BigWheelstage ist genial geworden. Klar, das Familiäre (man erinnere sich an 2006!) ist völlig dahin, aber wie soll dies auch bei einem solchen Ansturm anders bewältigt werden? Die Gemini Stage ist endlich wieder in ihrem Hexenkessen: wunderbar. Sieht doch gut aus: die erste Nacht kann starten. Wir beginnen so richtig mit Radio Slave, der legt einen klasse Techno-Sound auf, so wie man das von ihm erwarten durfte. Lange können wir nicht verweilen, denn auf der Mainstage sind Röyksopp. Und das sollte sich lohnen: Ein unglaublich beeindruckender Auftritt mit einer guten Mischung aus den alten Songs  (wie zb Eple) und denen aus dem aktuellen Album (wie zb The girl and the robot ). Sehr geile Stimmung und eine Stunde nur abfeiern…Spätestens jetzt bin ich Fan! Direkt im Anschluss gibts wieder mehr Gitarren zu hören: Die Jungs aus Schottland sind da: Travis! Und die legen direkt mal einen super Auftritt hin. Zugebenermaßen war ich vorher etwas skeptisch, aber die Jungs haben mich überzeugt: Sehr sympatische Show mit langem Aufenthalt von Frontmann Fran Healy innerhalb und oberhalb der Crowd. Bei Songs wie “Closer” oder “Sing” kam wirklich eine schöne Stimmung auf, und beim abschließenden Unplugged-Song war wirklich Gänsehaut angesagt. Leider hatten sie sich etwas in der Zeit etwas vertan, und konnten/durften am Ende nicht mehr “Why does it always rain on me” singen.. Es hätte wunderbar gepasst: Es regnete mal wieder. Aber nur ein bisschen.

Danach gabs mal wieder eine dieser typischen Festivalüberschneidungen: Matthew Herbert vs. Gossip vs. Aphex Twin. Wir guckten uns einen Teil Aphex Twin an und schauten dann noch bei Gossip vorbei um dort einmal die unglaubliche Beth Ditto zu erleben. War dann auch echt krass, Ditto hat eine wirklich faszinierende Stimme.  (Erinnerte uns ein wenig an alte NatureOne-Auftritte von Milk&Sugar mit diesen großen, schwarzen Ladies ). Aphex Twin war sehr geil: wie immer mit phantastischen Visuals bestückt gabs hier Bass zum Besten. Tolle Crowd, Tanzen!

Eigentlich wollten wir nun noch etwas zu Koze gehen, anschließend unbedingt Moderat (Modeselektor und Apparat) schauen und dann  2 Stunden bei Trentemoeller in den Morgen tanzen. Besonders auf letztere beide hatte ich mich sehr gefreut und gehörten zu meinen Top-Acts des Wochenendes. Doch dann kam alles anders: Es regnete. Erstmal ein bisschen; so dass wir erstmal zu Simian Mobile Disco unters Dach gingen und versuchten uns da zu trocken. Als es immer schlimmer wurde, beschlossen wir gegen 3:30 Uhr den Tag abzublasen. Nass, unterkühlt: Auf Richtung Zelt. Immerhin waren wir nicht die Einzigen, Alle waren auf den Beinen: Das Wetter wurde immer schlechter, der Regen immer heftiger, immer kühler: War schön so in T-shirt. Gegen halb 5 waren wir schließlich völlig durchnässt und sehr missmutig am Zelt: Der Campingplatz sah aus wie eine Filmlocation: Im Grunde genommen zum Totlachen, aber in der Situation nicht mal zum grinsen: Kein Pavillon stand mehr, Zelte waren los; ein einziges Chaos. Naja, erstmal drüber schlafen. Immerhin erfuhren wir noch via Melt!-Twitter und Iphone-App, dass  sie wegen dem Wetterchaos das ganze Festival schließen mussten, und Acts wie Moderat und Trentemoeller nicht mehr auftreten werden.

Samstag:

Ich hatte kaum geschlafen: der Regen war zu laut. Ich ging draußen erstmal auf Suche: Campingstühle, Pavillon und co. Frühstück mit Bierdose: “Warum tun wir uns sowas in unserem Alter eigentlich noch an?” “Wahrscheinlich, weil die Musik so toll ist”. Also weiter gehts: Und Samstag sollte klasse werden, vor allem schon tagsüber. Zwar war nun das Wetter nicht mehr gut genug für Schwimmen und Bootfahren, aber für eisgekühlten Jägermeister Jagdfürst reicht das immer noch. Den gabs dann den ganzen Tag über reichlich, u.a. mit unseren Schotten von nebenan: Riesen-Chaoten, aber supersympatisch. Außerdem waren wir tagsüber mal nochmal auf’m Festivalgelände, tanzten zu Lunacityexpress auf dem Sleepless-Floor, der dieses Jahr 3 Tage am Stück 24h auf war , und spielten nachmittags gegen unsere Nachbarn Flunky-Ball. Den Sieg ließen wir uns natürlich nicht nehmen – auch wenns knapp war ,) – Zwischendurch natürlich immer mal wieder belustigen über die Freakshow, die es so wohl nur auf Festivals gibt: Ganzkörperkostüme, Masken, Schminke, ausgefallene Verkleidungen wie an Karneval…unglaublich… und ziemlich lustig

Durch die Späße am Campingplatz verpasste ich am frühen Abend einen weiteren meiner “must-see”-Acts: The Whitest Boy Alive. Dafür könnte ich mir heute noch in den Arsch beißen, aber gut…vorbei ist vorbei. Bei c/o pop bietet sich quasi eine neue Chance. – Wir waren also diesmal erst recht spät am Gelände – auch geschuldet durch ne Sportcola-Variante mit Wodka. Vorbei an den anderen Bühnen gings direkt zu James Holden, es sollte sowieso ein ziemlich Big-Wheel-lastiger Abend werden. Holden legte wie immer ein sehr gutes Set hin, melodiös, manchmal fast trancig, dann wieder minimal ruhig: ganz Border Community halt. Ich fands gut, generell sind meine Erinnerungen an diesen Teil des Abends aber eher verschwommen ;D — Weiter gings mit Bloc Party, die wirklich auch ne ganz coole Show machten; jedoch konnte ich von den “fast tumultartigen Zuständen”, wie Intro berichtete, nicht wirklich was mitbekommen. Vielleicht war aber auch ich selbst mit gemeint. WTF!

Danach gings zum “Emo-Techno”, wie Ellen Allien so schön den Sound ihres Kollegen Paul Kalkbrenner beschrieb. Der stand ganz im Zeichen seines Ausnahmealbums “Berlin Calling”, und so war auch das Set. Facettenreich, fast melancholös; elektronische Musik zum Arme ausbreiten und genießen. Tolle Stimmung, sicherlich eins der Highlights. Weiter gings mit Kiki, wir schauten auch noch kurz bei den Herren Alex Ridah aka Boys Noize und Erol Alkan rein, und waren anschließend endlich auch mal an der neuen Stage direkt am ebenfalls neuen Beach. Sand, Strandliegen, Musik, Desperados und das Morgengrauen begann. Da ein toller Sonnenaufgang und es wäre perfekt gewesen. So wars gaaanz schön kalt, dennoch gönnten wir uns hier mal eine lange Pause, quatschten und lauschten Jesse Rosse. Wie sieht das Ende beim Melt! Sonntag morgens aus? Natürlich: Die Grand Dame des deutschen Techno Ellen Allien bittet zum Tanze und wir lassen uns da nicht lange bitten… Bis 7 Uhr feiern wir hier, dann ist hier Schluss. Ellen lädt uns alle zum Sleeplessfloor ein, denn da ist sie nochmal von 8-10 dran. Aber Boys Noize und Alkan gaben uns schließlich mit ihrem letzten Track “Kernkraft 400″ dann wirklich den Rest – und die ganze Gemini nochmal zum Kochen. Irgendwann um halb 9 lag ich im Zelt, um 10 Uhr war ich wieder draußen… es ist schon:

Sonntag:

Verkatert, müde, kaputt vom vielen Tanzen: Der Sonntag ist traditionell bei Festivals nach 3 Tagen durchfeiern das Härteste. Im Normalfall fährt man dann nach Hause – nicht hier, im nun 2. Jahr gibts ja auch am Sonntag nochmal volle Kanne Melt!

Es fällt schwer: der morgendliche Wodka will langsam nicht mehr so ganz. Die Bierdose wird auch nur langsam leerer. das Trockeneis ist auch leer nun. Es sollte ein langer, harter Tag werden. Natürlich mit viel Grillen – wie jeden Tag ,)

Immerhin machten wir uns schon gegen 18:30 Uhr Richtung Gelände auf. Hier gabs heute ja immerhin noch den Headliner des Wochenendes: Oasis.  Vorher raubte ein junger Mann allerdings erstmal Polarkreis 18 ziemlich die Show: Splitternackt hatte er die Lacher auf seiner Seite und belustigte schließlich Tausende, die alle von der Bühne zu ihm kamen Danach kamen die Jungs von Kasabian auf die Bühne: und wow, die rockten die Stage.  Uns eher unbekannt spielten sie eine Stunde alles in Grund und Boden und hinterließen einen sehr guten Eindruck. Was man schließlich von Oasis nicht berichten kann: Irgendwie war es…langweilig. Nein, nicht mal das, nur im Vergleich zur bombastischen, unvergleichlichen Show zum letztjährigen Headliner Björk, war das einfach gar nix. Klar, Songs wie “wonderwall”, “don’t look back in anger” oder “champagne supernova” waren wundervoll. Aber im Gesamten Konzert, besonders im ersten Teil fehlte die Würze. (Vielleicht lags auch an meiner desolaten körperlichen Verfassung…^^).

Trotzdem wars nochmal ein schöner, ruhiger Abschluss nach den wilden vorherigen Tagen.

Mainstage bei Oasis

Allgemein:

Nach dem eher enttäuschenden Jahr 2008 haben das Melt!-Team und die Veranstalter von Intro (fast) alles besser gemacht. Wenn wir im letzten Jahr schon soviel kritisiert haben, dann muss an dieser Stelle auch mal ein dickes Lob folgen: Organisatorisch war das nahezu perfekt. Man ist komplett auf die Kritik des letzten Jahres eingegangen, und hat zB Bühnensituation, Bändchen und Einlass oder Informationsfluss (via Internet, Twitter, Leinwänden, Infowänden etc.) enorm verbessert. Sogar die viel gescholtenen Securitys waren dieses Jahr nett, freundlich UND vor allem kompetent. Das erlebt man selten, Herzlichen Glückwunsch dazu. Besonders die neue, alte Bühnenanordnung ist perfekt, die Mainstage kam wunderbar zur Geltung, die Gemini ist der Paradehexenkessel und die BigWheel ist nun direkt mit Blick auf den See, und dazu auch noch die tolle neue Strandgestaltung: wunderbar. Dazu der Klang… Die Anlage auf dem BigWheel-Floor war das Beste, was ich jemals (!) auf einem Festival gehört habe. Ein unfassbar klarer Klang, Höhen und Tiefen gleichermaßen perfekt. Göttlich, und für diese Stage wie gemacht. Dafür wars auf der Mainstage dann nicht ganz so prima, aber das hat die BigWheel vollkommen wettgemacht!

Musikalisch wars vielleicht DAS Jahr überhaupt. Das Lineup war so gut, dass ich mich fast zu jedem Act entscheiden musste, weil parallel ein weiteres Highlight war. So musste ich zum Beispiel auf  Telekommander, MSTRKRT, Fever Ray, Skream, Kode9, Koze, Digitalism und viele weitere verzichten, weil es einfach nicht alles ging. Schade für mich persönlich – aber letztlich wohl das höchste Lob, was ich als Besucher einem Festival machen kann. Einzig der Sonntag enttäuscht ein wenig, weil im letztem Jahr mit Björk (und Hot Chip) einfach die Messlatte fast unereichbar hoch gelegt wurde. Bin schon jetzt gespannt, wer die Ehre 2010 hat, am Sonntag den Headliner zu geben…

Verbesserungswürdig? Ganz klar die Bussituation, vor allem bei solchem Wetter wie am WE. Und fast noch wichtiger: Auto mit auf den Campingplatz nehmen dürfen, das ist einfach wichtig, besonders in Zeiten von Camping-und Pfanddieben.

Insgesamt war es ein großartiges Wochenende, zwischenzeitlich getrübt durch das unglaublich schlechte Wetter und die Folgen daraus, aber rückblickend jetzt mit Abstand von einem Tag, machte auch das nicht wirklich viel. Jede Menge Spaß, noch viel mehr tolle Musik, und eine erheblich verbesserte Organisation. Ich bin beeindruckt – und überlege sogar 2010 die 5 vollzumachen. we’ll see

Alright, I’m getting really into this latest James Teej release, the Spending Life EP , out on Rebirth with colossal remixes by the likes of Danny Fiddo & Affkt and Ripperton (who worked that track proper-like), complete with instrumentals and dubs as well. Lovely, really. Take a listen to his latest, Super Symmetry EP, if you’re digging the vibe- it comes with a Wighnomy Brothers remix that is well worth the listen.

James Teej – Spending Life

Dwelling on Ripperton a little more, I’m very surprised that the music blogs are still sleeping. Right before the track posted above, he was selected by Stimming to remix “The Kiss”, adding to what would almost be a dozen remixes and originals that he’s completed so far this year. What takes the cake for me so far in his discography is “Long Distance,” featured on his single release I Love out on Prospectiv alongside Masaya (CH).

Another tasty, techy little treat is the Danton Eeprom remix of his own track produced with Radio Slave titled “Grindhouse”. Consider this a little teaser, because you should definitely pick up the Dubfire remix if you know what is good for you. The track is fanstastic. And continuing on an advisory tip- Get the Dubfire remix of De’Lacy’s lastest track “Hideaway.” Shit’s massive.

Focusing more on an analog production style with this one, he operated alongside a band for it’s recording. Verder vooral heel veel kontschoppende dj’s uit eigen land, talent uiteraard inbegrepen. Op naar ‘t Twiske, want de voorverkoop (€41 ex fee) is al gestart. Het feest is op 1 augustus.
