It’s one particular common habit for people to sing in the shower. They would often enjoy sing

It’s one particular common habit for people to sing in the shower. They would often enjoy singing to themselves as they take a bath, mostly because it becomes more relaxing. Nowadays, there’s an actual device that would serve as you’re own personal sound system while you take a shower, and we’re talking about the best shower radios. The best shower radios are waterproof radios that you could take with you in the shower. This way you don’t have to worry about suds dripping to your mouth as you sing your favorite song.

Best Shower Radio

A shower radio that proves to be a favorite of many is the Sangean H201 AM/FM Digital Shower Radio. The device has a built in AM/FM antenna with PLL digital tuning. It can store 10 station presets and auto seek function, the radio is water resistant up to JIS7 standard. The Sangean H201 AM/FM Digital Shower Radio also has a large, easy-to-read backlit LCD with an easy-to-apply bracket and hanger. The shower radio has quite a stylish design with a water proof feature that passes for marine radios.
Best Shower Radios – Top Choices For Your Bath

Cd For Shower

What if you want to listen to your favorite track while you take a shower? Then maybe the best device for you would be a shower radio with CD player. The best gadget fro this is the Jensen AM/FM best Shower Radio with CD Player. This shower radio is equipped with a fully working AM/FM receiver, a vertical loading CD-player, and a built-in desk stand. The best shower radios also have a fog- resistant mirror and waterproof speakers with a headphone jack. The radio’s speakers are splash resistant too and the jack can be perfect while dipping on the bath tub.

Best Shower Radio – Cheap

There are shower radios that can actually be bought with under ten dollars. This is the Conair SR Shower Radios, the SR shower radios from Conair are basically AM/FM Radios, they’re equipped with a hook that you could hang around the shower head or the shower curtain and comes water resistant. The best shower radios fit in well too. The Conair SR Shower Radios come in different models, they have the SR9 which is Pink, the SR10 that’s in Black, SR11 which is Blue, and the SR12 which is Green. All of them at only ten dollars with a five dollar worth of MP3 downloads if you order from Amazon.com.

Fun Shower Radio

There are also shower radios you can get that come in funkier and fun colors and models. One line of shower radios that have very fun designs are the Zadro Shower Bugs. The Zadro Shower Bugs AM/FM Radio are one of the best shower radios that also work as clocks. The best shower radios in our opinion, Zadro Shower Bugs are lighthearted shower FM radios that are constructed in a bug-shaped body with four suction cups attached to the lags that could stick tightly to shower tiles, mirrors, and other flat surfaces. The radio’s digital clock display would help you monitor time while you’re taking a shower and it also features an FM auto tuning that quickly scans for favorite stations. The Zadro Shower Bugs available at $15 and are available in purple, lime green, blue, pink, orange and white. No matter what, it’s worth taking a long look to find the best shower radios.

Cena 1: 1980.

Cena 4. Hoje a tarde.

There was once a band called Hanson. You may remember it. Actually, they’re still around, but instea

There was once a band called Hanson. You may remember it. Actually, they’re still around, but instead of long-haired, pre-pubescent boys, they’re now far less famous young men. Still one of my all-time favorite musical groups. Hey, I’ve shared a lot of embarrassing stuff in this public forum. But anyone who knows me already knows this most embarrassing of facts, so no real revelations here. Just a deep, deep love for the brothers Hanson and a slightly shame-faced Liz.

At the height of their fame, Hanson went on SNL as a musical guest. The folks at SNL were kind enough to include the three fellas in a sketch, which mercilessly ridiculed their most popular tune, “MmmBop.” It took place in an elevator, which if memory serves, was stuck between floors. The brothers Hanson, among a few other people, were stuck on an elevator which was, conveniently, playing “Mmmbop” on an endless loop. The scene jumped in time… forward an hour, everyone was still humming along, happy-go-lucky. Three hours later, the other passengers on the stuck elevator were conversing amongst themselves, attempting to ignore the music. Isaac Hanson was starting to break. An hour later, Taylor Hanson started pulling his beautiful hair out. Zach started acting like a freakin’ crazy person another couple of hours after that.

The point I’m trying to make here is that even the catchiest songs can be unbelievably irritating upon continuous repetition. Honestly, I’ve never tested my threshold for tolerating popular music on repeat more than one or two times over. Recently, I’ve started enjoying the musical stylings of one Miss Miley Cyrus. Please, friends, forgive my sucky taste in music. I know, I know. I should be doing one of two things: 1) listening to what I enjoy and pretending I’ve never heard any of it when questioned about my favorite artists or 2) owning my taste in pop music and acknowledging it proudly. I have no desire to be dishonest about my taste, but I also can’t help but to feel a deep sense of shame for appreciating popular music. It’s weird. But whatever. For right now, I’m owning my enjoyment of Miley. “Party in the USA” makes me dance. It’s just a fun song. I won’t even comment on how much fun I have when I hear “See You Again.” Awe. Some.

Now, if you’re cool, you undoubtedly have no idea what I’m talking about. Which is fine. I think you’ll still appreciate the story that the three previous paragraphs were building up to.

I was in Atlanta for my job. I’m not certain what the radio stations in the area are all about, but with a basically busted CD player and a puny little iPod Shuffle, I was stuck with that. I scanned a few times and landed on 94.1, who was playing “Party” to my extreme delight. I was on my way to an appointment and that’s a fabulous song to get pumped up with.

Well, I soon found out that Miley is headed to Atlanta for a concert sometime in the next month, and by way of advertisement/a ticket giveaway contest, the station was playing “Party” regularly every half hour. “Sweet!” I thought. “This is going to keep me inspired to keep rockin’ the appointments all day long!”

Um. Not so sweet, by the end of day two. I won’t say that I can’t stand “Party in the USA” because let’s be honest, I’ll get over it soon enough and be back to full enjoyment of the song, but there came a point where I actually changed the station during the song’s intro. It was Miley Overload. I was shocked by the vehemence of my reaction, considering how much I generally enjoy the singing and dancing along. But I just spend way too much time in my car to deal with overloading on any one song. Variety, please! Everything in Moderation! Even Miley

So apparently, Mr. KABC was on the real KABC yesterday at 2:00 and I missed it. Anyone listen?

According to the KABC programming schedule, it should have been Real Estate Radio. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that’s paid programming. So why would Mr. K need to fill in?

Did he do an Ask Mr. KABC show, or was he anchoring this Real Estate show?

Why doesn’t he post this stuff on his Facebook page? Isn’t that what Facebook is for?

Why doesn’t KABC just hire him back already? Enough is enough.

Why does the sun keep burning bright? Where does my shadow go at night? What is e=mc2? Why does rap music make me scared? Where’s a place to buy good clothes? Why are these hairs inside my nose? Is zirconia a gem? What makes the clocks blink 12am?

Ask Mr. KABC.

I’d like to.

P.S. I ardently hope the friend Mr. K visited in the hospital last week was not Brian. Brian, please email me if you’re OK.

Confidential to rock critics: It is no longer necessary to discuss any new recording project from Si

Confidential to rock critics: It is no longer necessary to discuss any new recording project from Sir Paul or King Mick. Neither are able to succeed or fail, regardless of what they do, so really, what’s the point?

That said, I hereby declare Axl Rose to be the greatest living rocker still attempting to make music. To back up my declaration I present to you Chinese Democracy. Holy crap, what the hell is this? A goddamn disaster is what it is. Out now for a year, I’m finally getting around to listening to it and hey, what can I say, he made me wait 15 years, and I’m sure the world’s been fine for 12 months without my opinion on the record. Or if not fine, since it kind of seems like it stinks, then at least my lack of review has not been a part of the problem.

Now, the truth be told I guess I really only liked Appetite for Destruction. It’s not that G N’ R Lies didn’t have its moments, but you can’t go home again, so they say, and for supremely great rock moments it’s true.

Chinese Democracy doesn’t so much try to go home, rather than build something new and better. It reminds me of Ford and Dodge trying to remake the Mustang and Charger. The new versions are reminiscent of the old muscles, yes, but ultimately they just kind of suck.

That’s a bit unfair to the album though, because it doesn’t just kind of suck, it sucks really bad. I won’t quote Homer Simpson and say it’s the suckiest suck suck that ever sucked,” but at least it tried and damn if that ain’t something. I’m in awe of its terribleness. It makes me weak and trembly. It is absolutely impossible for most of our beloved rock icons to have created this (maybe Neil Young or Lou Reed – keep your chins up boys!) Nothing like this could have been phoned in from a hillside house outside of Palo Alto. This is as real as a television exploding out of a 7th story hotel window. 15 years and this is what we get. Songs about the I.R.S. and Catcher in the Rye? Moments of rock and disco? Messy, infantile, without a moment of cohesion. Maybe after 15 years he was just done with it all. Clearly Chinese Democracy is a giant white whale, but why I love Axl, if not his latest album, is that I believe he thinks he totally slayed it. Rock is dead. Long live rock.

Post Scriptus ~I am thoroughly unqualified to review anything Guns N’ Roses.

$99.99

.

I ended up buying a record at a Wilco show over the summer, so I needed a record player. The cheapest one I could find was this Crosley Rochester for about $100 at Target.

.

It pretty much gets the job done. For only $100 you get an am/fm radio, a CD player, a tape deck, and a record player. Pretty nice. But when you try to do so much, it’s hard not to botch it in one way or another.

.

The sound quality is pretty nice. It looks like there are speakers all around this thing, in the front and on the sides, and as far as I can tell, it really does. The only problem with sound quality comes in with AM radio. I listen to AM radio from time to time and when I do, it’s hit and miss. The antenna wire thing that it comes with doesn’t really deliver. KXLU is MIA on the radio, which is bummer city., but besides that, you’re pretty much set.

.

Since it is a manual interface, I can’t digitally store radio stations, so when I listen to FM I have to spin to each station, looking for a good song. Luckily, I’ve all but given up on FM radio, so no big deal here.

.

The CD’s work fine and listening to an LP is easy-breezy. Also, it has a MP3 jack, so that’s pretty cool, too.

.

The only issue I really have with this machine is the way it plays my cassettes.

.

So, the good thing about cassettes is that you can rewind and fast forward and record and stuff like that, right? Well not if you’ve got this guy. You can only play. You put the tape in, select “tape” on the format option, then it just starts playing, and it won’t stop until the tape is done on that side. You can’t fast forward through songs or rewind to hear one again.

.

If you want to hear the same song twice you need to turn the tape over, listen to the other side for like…2 minutes or however long the original song was, then turn it over and listen.

.

Why? How hard would it have been to add these functions? How can you even call this a tape deck? It’s like buying a car and then finding out you can’t put it in reverse or buying a TV and finding out you can only watch so many channels. Rewind and fast forward are inherent features to a tape deck. This is a crime against humanity.

.

I looked online to see other people’s reviews and it looks like the turntable loses speed after some use (some report it slowing down and/or not working before a month of ownership. I haven’t had this problem). Some people say tape decks get stuck, other people say the CD’s won’t play. So I guess I’m kind of a lucky buyer in this case.

.

I haven’t had any of these problems, but it looks like they’re serious, and it looks like they’re common. If you just want a record player, it does the trick, or at least it has for me. Just keep your receipt to be safe, and keep your eye on the turntable speed.

.

I’m giving the Crosley a C+. It’s a good record player, MP3 player, and CD player, but it actually lies to the consumer about its cassette playing ability.

The Hierophant Traditionally, the Hierophant is the intermediary or interpreter between the worshipe

The Hierophant

Traditionally, the Hierophant is the intermediary or interpreter between the worshiper and the their deity. Who ever or what ever that is. Before this century, most decks called him the Pope. To most modern readers, this is mostly a negative card, referring to the “Keeper of the Keys”–again the Pope, who was the only one who had the power to reach God.

In many modern churches and most Pagan and other modern religious systems, we find our own way to God/Goddess or Deity. The modern Hierophant directs us to look inside ourselves and see what is there. What WE are capable of. To see that we can directly get in touch with the greater Universe and find information we need. He is much more positive and pro-active..

The meaning of this card depends greatly on the Deck. My deck of choice, the World Tree Tarot shows the Hierophant as showing us the was to find the way to the Greater Universe for ourselves. Other decks, including another favorite, the Robin Wood, will show the Hierophant as a Pope, keeping the secrets to himself through theater and heavy handed rules.

This card reminds us again that there is no one true way. Each of us must figure out for ourselves how to, as one Rosemary Edghill put it so well, “unscrew the inscrutable.” It warns us not to get taken in by doctrine or rules or leaders that insist they know all the answers. If it comes up in a reading, the seeker is told to look for truths for him or herself. To look for Deity through rituals of their choice, meditation or prayer. We find Deity and truth by opening up our Inner Vision.

What is the ark … metaphorically? [It’s] a vessel, a container, that holds that which must not perish. That which we need to preserve so that we can restore or we can bring human communities and we can bring the earth itself back to a state of health. … Books are arks. Libraries are arks. … Public access radio stations, I would argue, are arks. That is, they hold a possibility, they preserve a possibility. It’s through times when those possibilities are under assault. So for example, the possibility of non-commercial public conversation—conversation which doesn’t require pandering to big corporations in order to be on the air—that’s vital to the health of a democracy and the health of a vibrant culture.

Looks like digital music downloads on computers, MP3 players, iPods, smart-phones and the like are a

Looks like digital music downloads on computers, MP3 players, iPods, smart-phones and the like are altering the music industry more dramatically than the cassette tape ever could.

Compact Disks (CD) came into the marketplace about 1982-83. And, by the end of the 1980s CDs had just about replaced cassette tape and records as the format of choice for music. Today, I read that Linn Products (based outside Glasgow, Scotland) is preparing to discontinue manufacturing CD players; the reason is declining sales of CDs!

Although the article I was reading, and its associated statistics, were focused on the United Kingdom (UK) I’d be surprised if the results were much different (on a percentage basis) in the US. According to The British Phonographic Industry trade body, more than 117 million tracks had been bought by the end of October this year. And, that is before the popular music gift giving season of Christmas. Looks like 2009 is set to be a record year for single sales. No doubt the economy has driven some cash-strapped music fans to economize.

Market share for albums was still dominated by CD sales but it is slumping. In 2008, there were 137 million album sales, made up of 123 million CDs, 10.3 million digital downloads; vinyl records, cassettes and other formats accounted for around 300,000. In 2007, only 2.7 million albums were sold via download, while 151 million CDs were purchased!

My earliest recollection of music was watching people singing; either family or friends. Then, I can remember AM radio and the black & white TV. When I was about 10 years old, my father got a hi-fi (high-fidelity) radio with turntable; he was a carpenter and had done some remodeling work on a store in Newark which sold just about everything associated with music. As part, or all (I don’t remember which), he exchanged labor for components and some LPs (33 1/3 rpm albums). That’s when I became aware of FM radio and “longhair” music (classical music was popularly known as longhair or longhaired from about the mid-1930s until the Beatles landed). Pop built his own cabinet and speaker boxes for his newly-acquired stereo system. I can remember trying to listen to opera… I never did get into that stuff!

So, since the late-1950s what formats were/are available to the average music enthusiast: vinyl record singles & LPs (not to be overlooked are the large and heavy old antique 78 rpm records, which are spinning so quickly they finish in the same time as the much smaller vinyl single for sure); various tape formats – reel-to-reel, 8track and the shorter-lived 4track stereo cartridges, cassettes; CDs; and now digital downloads to the device of your choice. And, let’s not forget listening to AM, FM and now satellite radio.

What’s in the future? Something mind-blowing I’m sure!
