I think the present narrative would change radically if Obama did one simple thing. Install David Plouffe either as a replacement for Rahm or Kaine.

Plouffe and Obama were partners and I have always seen Plouffe as a Bobby Kennedy sort who could press things through in tougher ways than his partner. I feel since the election that Obama has been trying to dance without a partner.

Maybe I am being a broken record but I am a partisan of Harold Bloom’s thinking on influence and the utter importance of individuals in history.

I know why Plouffe pulled back after the campaign. But this is no time to keep the light under a bushel. I know that he still is in the loop, but that is no substitute for being on the march every day.

Plouffe should either be the architect of 2010 (the Kaine job) or the political operative for the Obama agenda (Rahm’s job). The language would get a lot saltier and the reality would change for the good.

What is a “White House Chief of Staff”?

The roles of the Chief of Staff are both managerial and advisory and can include the following:

• Select key White House staff and supervise them
• Structure the White House staff system
• Control the flow of people into the Oval Office
• Manage the flow of information
• Protect the interests of the President
• Negotiate with Congress, other members of the executive branch, and extra-governmental political groups to implement the President’s agenda

So the Chief of Staff’s role is to coordinate meetings, get the coffee and donuts, and manage White House affairs. It is not his official American job to set foreign policy. That is his Jewish job.

The much talked about Hanukkah celebration at the White House this year finally happened this evening at sunset. The event was in the late afternoon and included a public menorah lighting by Rahm Emanuel and traditionally kosher food as well. Not only was the food kosher, but the kitchen was made kosher for the meal as well. If you keep kosher in your home, you know the whole process. Boiling the utensils, cleaning and the steaming etc. This was under the Chabad supervision of Rabbi Levi Shemtov.

COURT FILING | Defense wants early look at ‘notes, transcripts’

Rod Blagojevich’s lawyers want the FBI to give up details of interviews conducted last year of President Obama, his chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, White House adviser Valerie Jarrett and others as part of the investigation into the former governor.

In a Friday filing, Blagojevich attorneys also asked for information regarding first lady Michelle Obama. However, a source said late Friday that the FBI never interviewed the first lady.

Then-President-elect Obama, Emanuel and Jarrett sat down with the FBI about a year ago — just after Blagojevich was arrested on charges of trying to sell Obama’s recently vacated Senate seat to the highest bidder.

Obama revealed he was interviewed in a report he made public last December.

The defense request, filed in federal court, asks for “notes, transcripts and reports” of interviews with the Obamas, Emanuel, Jarrett and union chiefs Thomas Balanoff and Andy Stern.

The request was part of a larger bid by defense lawyers to have prosecutors turn over additional materials, including witness statements, six months before the June trial date. Typically, prosecutors give the defense such information 30 days before the trial.

Shelly Sorosky, an attorney for Blagojevich, said the defense needs additional time with the material “because there’s so much of it. This is massive stuff.”

Nov. 10, 2009-White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel voiced continued support for Israel on behalf of the United States at the Jewish Federation of North America event in Washington, D.C. President Obama originally intended to deliver the speech but traveled to Fort Hood, Texas, to console families and friends of the victims there.

I was a little disappointed Obama didn’t show up for his Jewish Federation of North America speech, but he had some pretty important places to go, namely Fort Hood. So Rahm Emanuel tackled the speech that luckily included some last minute alterations for Emanuel. The best part was when he took a detour and spoke from the heart about his family. He even cracked a few jokes which were actually funny! Way to go Rahm!

Sitting down to relax this evening I turned on the television to see how the news pundits were portraying Lieberman’s statement that he would filibuster the Senate bill because of the cost and the rush to get it done. Just for a laugh, I flipped to MSNBC to see how Keith Olbermann was spinning the news and I came across this gem:

I actually turned to my wife and asked her if this is really happening? We have got murderers in Iran about to get the bomb, Cap and Trade legislation ready to destroy our economy, Government run health care right around the corner and this is what MSNBC calls news?

Well I must say, it is a bit ridiculous and really should be an embarassment for the President who marched his two lieutenants out to degrade and attempt to marginalize Fox News as “not really a news station.”

“The White House carefully continued its assault on Fox News Tuesday, as a senior White House adviser told CNN’s Campbell Brown that the network was “of course” biased against the Obama administration, but immediately backtracked slightly.“

NaturalNews) According to the CDC, swine flu infections have already peaked, and the pandemic is on its way out. Peak infection time was the middle of October, where one in five U.S. children experienced the flu, says the CDC. Out of nearly 14,000 suspected flu cases tested during the week ending on October 10, 2009, 99.6% of those were influenza A, and the vast majority of those were confirmed as H1N1 swine flu infections.

Even though the H1N1 pandemic appears to have peaked out, U.S. President Barack Obama has now declared a national emergency over swine flu infections. The reasoning behind such a declaration? According to the White House, it’s designed to “allow hospitals to better handle the surge in patients” by allowing them to bypass certain federal laws.

Emergency powers trump the Bill of Rights
That’s the public explanation for this, but the real agenda behind this declaration may be far more sinister. Declaring a national emergency immediately gives federal authorities dangerous new powers that can now be enforced at gunpoint, including:

• The power to force mandatory swine flu vaccinations on the entire population.
• The power to arrest, quarantine or “involuntarily transport” anyone who refuses a swine flu vaccination.
• The power to quarantine an entire city and halt all travel in or out of that city.
• The power to enter any home or office without a search warrant and order the destruction of any belongings or structures deemed to be a threat to public health.
• The effective nullification of the Bill of Rights. Your right to due process, to being safe from government search and seizure, and to remain silent to avoid self-incrimination are all null and void under a Presidential declaration of a national emergency.

None of this means that federal agents are going to march door to door arresting people at gunpoint if they refuse the vaccine, but they could if they wanted to. Your rights as an American are no longer recognized under this national emergency declaration.

Who’s afraid of the Big Bad Wolf???

Why am I singing this in my head? Because the notion that it is Rahm alone who is the villain in a projected submarining of robust is a mite fatuous.

If there is a Big Bad Wolf, his name will be Barack Obama. Rahm works for him.

But there isn’t a Big Bad Wolf.

We are still playing rope-a-dope. This Strategy has survived a summer when everyone said reform was dead.

It continues. Why? Because support takes time to build and support is what this is all about. Obama is really trying to make us a democracy again.

So. We will get a robust public option if the middle becomes more familiar with the truth  that a robust public option is really not a progressive thing. It’s a reasonable, common sense thing. Hell. A robust public option is conservative. It’s fiscally sound. It can be a lock.

So what should progressives be doing? As usual, winning the middle. Do you do that by slapping Rahm’s hand? I don’t think it makes a difference, other than to distract from the task and give the MSM another non-story.

Just as the MSM should stop treating lies and facts as two sides of an issue, progressives  should parse the Presidential words and realize that he has made the case for a robust public option repeatedly. Underlining and spreading that has been the bread and butter progressive strategy.

It is the only one that will prevail.

When Ambassador John Bolton wrote in the WSJ the other day about the sad state of affairs at the U.N. and the Obama Administration’s choices now, several thoughts hit me.  A leftist Jewish judge was duped by his own naiveté and President Obama’s Middle East strategy and relationship to Israel makes very little sense to even an expert onlooker.

While I agree with Bolton on what the President’s strategy should be, Obama won’t back away from the United Nation’s farce of a Human Rights Council because he doesn’t truly view its positions on Israel as a negative. His politics and policies indicate that there is sympathy for the general U.N. bias against Israel; if sympathy is the wrong word, try political expedience for the support base to which Obama campaigned and is indebted to. I believe a combination of the two is a better explanation.

The enigma here is that he surrounded himself with key staffers whom are undoubtedly in Israel’s corner.  His Chief of Staff stands out on the top of that list; Rahm Emanuel is a son of Sabras, and a father who served the Irgun While more left leaning that I consider myself on Israel, he is a supporter.  There are others, and they have Obama’s confidence, which makes one wonder what we are all missing, or if the President’s mass appeal that turns people to mush and sends thrill up reporters’ extremities, blinds the best of us.

As to Justice Richard Goldstone, the former judge of the Constitutional Court
of South Africa, he may be a well meaning judge, and I expect he is no fool.  Yet, he fooled himself. In preparing and endorsing the report which bears his name, he should have known from consistent historical occurrences that even when a leftist Jew trying hard to see it from the “other side,” feeling a need to placate and play devil’s advocate in the public eye – as he attempted to do with his report – the attempt often fails and gets used as further “proof” that Israel is wrong.

One need not look further that the 1967 war that was thrust on Israel.  Three Arab forces tried to eliminate Israel, but Israel beat them back; yet it has since been made to look like an aggressor that baselessly stole property and destroyed the lives of the Palestinians.  In 1973, a surprise war on Yom Kippur further forced Israel’s hand and further made Israel into the bad guys.  Two falsehoods that have prevailed through today.

I am more shocked that Justice Goldstone seemed shocked at the rhetoric of the U.N. H.R.C than I am at the the H.R.C itself.  In fact, I am not shocked at the United Nations members at all.  I knew it would happen, and I’m just a U.N. outside observer, like most of us out there.  if not this report, it would have been something else.

Now we have our President Obama weighing in.  He is very possibly in way over his head if he thinks the world is going to change just because he – the rockstar – is president now. All he is doing is offering the anti-democracy, despotic and terrorist regimes time to plan more while he contemplates just how he will actually earn his Nobel .

The Goldstone Report is a foolish endeavor, as it criticized “both sides” but does not really help anyone find the path to peace; for it ignores the basic underlying truth in the Middle East: This is not about land, not about economy, trade, agriculture or human rights at all, it is about ideology, pride and an unrelenting belief by too many under the Muslim faith, that Jews (Christians too), Israel, human rights and Democracy all fly in the face of a God they revere, worship and insist wants to see the world turned upside down in his honor.

There is no negotiating with God, no deals to be made and certainly few to no accommodations made that would preclude the ultimate goal of Shariah law and total buy-in to their beliefs and way of life. To anyone claiming that this is just s small radicalized minority within Islam, why not then ask the silent majority take some more responsibility for their errant brethren, and let them begin to vocally- and physically if needed – set this awful condition right and pave the road to peace once and for all without blood and lopsided compromises.

I’m not quite sure what exactly the lovely folks up at the White House are smoking. But it must be good. Otherwise, they’d never invest so much political capital in attacking the most highly watched cable news network in the nation. Sure, Fox has many opinion shows. But so does MSNBC.

Shep Smith, one of the few true news reporters on Fox, came to my school last week and gave a little speech, followed by a question and answer session. One of the journalism students decided that they’d enlist as a soldier in White House Army in the War on Fox. He berated Fox for giving people like Bill O’Reilly and Glenn Beck airtime. Shep handled the question well, saying something to the effect of “Sure, we’ve got some outspoken and sometimes outrageous political commentators. But really, would you call Keith Olbermann or Rachel Maddow a news reporter? They’re just as outrageous, the only difference is that you happen to agree with them.” I thought it was a valid point.

I digress. The White House is making a big mistake with this vendetta against Fox. Apparently, it all started when Chris Wallace of Fox News Sunday fact checked Tammy Duckworth, the assistant secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

“She criticized ‘FOX News Sunday’ last week for fact-checking — fact-checking — an administration official,” Wallace said Sunday. “They didn’t say that our fact-checking was wrong. They just said that we had dared to fact-check.”

And it has escalated since then. Both David Axelrod and Rahm Emanuel have spoken out against Fox. They both assert that Fox isn’t a real news network. Regardless of the truth value of that statement, they’ve made a huge political mistake. Throughout the day, Fox nets more cable news viewers per timeslot than MSNBC, CNN or HLN, sometimes more than the three other networks combined. To say to Fox’s viewers that Fox is “not a news organization” and that it is “opinion journalism masquerading as news” is insulting, and frankly, alienating.

This administration needs to watch out. They’re taking some big risks that are just as likely to pay off as not. Moreover, these risks don’t endear them to many that aren’t already on their side.

A great steak on a Saturday night is always good. I wonder who he was dining with?
