If the internet existed in the 80s like it does today, this would top on my list of fave sites (not really). From the rainbow keyboard to the stock sound effects like you find on synthesizers, this is totally retro. It’s also mindless and fun (like the 80s).

Rainbow

The colors in a rainbow are made by sunlight shining through raindrops in the air, which separate the light into the colors of the spectrum.  

A rainbow occurs at the end of a storm, when the sun begins to shine while the air is still filled with raindrops. 

When the sunlight passes through the millions of water drops in just the right way, the white light breaks up and scatters into the many colors of the spectrum. 

If you are looking in the direction of the drops, with the sun at your back, you will see a rainbow of color arched across the sky in beautiful bands of orange, yellow, green and blue, with red at the top of the arch and violet at the bottom. 

The colors bump to each other so that we rarely see more than four active colors in a rainbow. 

A rainbow disappears soon as there are no longer any raindrops.  You can make a rainbow yourself on a sunny day.  Turn the lawn sprinkler on.  Stand with your back to the sun and look at the spray.  You will be able to see a rainbow. – Johnny Wonder

I’ve been trying all week to capture the beauty of the ice covered trees, but was never able to. Now that the sun has come back, my husband took this shot this morning. It doesn’t come close to the true beauty, but it’s pretty spectacular all the same. If you look closely you can see the rainbow colors created by the sunlight on the ice. As you can tell, I have nothing better to do than admire the results of our wintry blast.

The bold colors have it next summer. Hot tones in shades from red to pink were seen throughout designers’ Spring 2009 collections. Neon tones in feminine finishes and sleek silhouettes sashayed down the runways in pantsuits, short mini dresses and gowns. The happy and vibrant colors were shown as monochromatic looks or paired with unexpected colors like powder blue for a modern twist.

Lanvin creates a short mini cocktail design with an asymmetrical shoulder and blousy fit in a vibrant tangerine.

Soft and casual, Diane Von Furstenberg adds pop to a simple dress in a bright watermelon.

Carolina Herrera creates dreams to be remembered with a ruffled, strapless gown in vivid strawberry hue.

Anna Sui stays exotic in an Asian print, ultra orange, summer dress with chiffon drapery.

The best news about the trend, whether you’re a pale blonde or tan skinned brunette, is the hot summer shades will look amazing on almost anyone.

I felt inspired to pop over into the right hand section of the painting.   The left side is done for now.  So when it came time to continue onto the right side, this little circular section just cried out to me, asking to be colored next.  Who am I to deny this section its coloring?

This section happens to includes the colors of the rainbow in a mixed-up order.  All seven sections were color using a burnishing stroke (coloring hard).  From top to bottom, for the darker blue area, I used prismacolor indigo blue, cloud blue, and black grape.  For the lighter blue, I used prismacolor Copenhagen blue, cloud blue, and black grape (maybe a little white as well).  For the yellow/gold section, I used prismacolor canary yellow and black cherry.  For the red section, I used prismacolor crimson red and black grape with a touch of white.  For the green section, I used prismacolor canary yellow, Copenhagen blue, and black grape with a touch of white.  For the purple section, I used prismacolor crimson red, dioxide purple hue, white and black grape.  For the orange section, I used prismacolor scarlet lake, canary yellow, lemon yellow, and black cherry.

It really feels like it’s flown by, fatigue has been overwhelming at times, but I’m thankful I still have the energy to keep up.

Adam spent 2 months here this summer, it was fun but hectic on my schedule, I’m falling horribly behind on so much but it’s worth it to have him home. 

I have had time to create some new items for the stores, I love the new rainbow ducky and piggy soaps, all the colors of the rainbow.  New lollipops include more vehicles and birthday items, but there’s a lot more coming now that inventory has been almost completed, seems I’ve actually surpassed the 300 variety mark!!

It’s still my goal to get them all listed before Christmas, fingers crossed I have the time and energy.

In the last post, you saw photos of groups of stained glass items I made this week. All of these designs are ones I created this week. (All except the blue star. The star is not my design. All the rest are my designs.)

Here are some photos of individual pieces. I photographed most of them with the sky behind and a flash of light hitting them from the front. The flash showed the silver color of the solder, but it also made some of the glass look like it has white flecks on it. I’m posting these anyway, because overall, I’m pleased with how they look.

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I have a lot of time on my hands. This week, without the usual responsibilities, I had the opportunity to spend a week at Mom and Pop’s Stained Glass Camp.

I took this picture 10 days ago by a friend’s pool. I am still marveling at the beauty of colored glass between sunlight and water.
