This little guy appeared at the house yesterday.

Apparently he’s been sent here to keep an eye on me ‘till Christmas.

Yesterday, I had lots of yummy leftovers, including squash casserole, corn casserole, sautéed sweet potatoes, turkey, stuffing, and gravy.

We considered having more leftovers for dinner, but settled on some noodles with chicken and veggies in a light cheese sauce.

With a salad with goat cheese on the side.

I came downstairs this morning and found Ralph cozily perched on our Christmas tree.

Today I actually got some exercise in. I did my Paula Abdul cardio dance DVD. It’s actually a really fun workout—I should do it more.

Emily, Andrew, and some friends from church came over to watch the UGA vs.. GT.  During half time, Em gave some of us a yoga lesson.

Then Andrew came in. He brought a ghost with him (notice the ball of light on Emily’s elbow)?

These two ladies are very good at yoga. I’m not.

The bogan does not cope well with the ageing process. Gradually increasing feelings of insecurity resulting from expanding waistlines, sagging skin, crows’ feet and receding hairlines has led to burgeoning industries selling solutions to worried bogans past their primes. Some are long-standing, such as skin care. However, there has been constant development, the most prominent being explosive growth in hair regeneration technology. With that came the exorbitant charges associated with regular visits to the ‘clinician’ by paunchy men, approaching their forties, yet still bearing the pastel t-shirts and oversized, yet formless biceps of their youth. These men can be easily identified, incidentally, by their still-vertical hair failing to conceal the increasing bare acreage on their scone. 

However, there are few markets left for these mid-90s hope-peddlers to crack. So new feel-good products have risen to prominence. While some have been more successful, none are as bile-inducingly horrid as glamour photography. Today, in a world where celebrities are photographed relentlessly, it stands to reason to the bogan that they, too deserve to be photographed. Semi nude. In their forties. Then hang the results in the entrance hall to their house. Where their children’s friends can see. 

Even better, the bogan can experience a small slice of the sheer, face-melting awesomeness of celebrity; the photo can be taken in soft, caressing light. The outfit can be revealing – but not TOO revealing. And the end result can be airbrushed to within an inch of its life. Like the young lady on the cover of their partner’s issue of Ralph, of whom the bogan is furiously jealous, blemishes and signs of any actual ageing can be removed. The picture can then be placed, at superhuman speed, as the bogan’s new Facebook profile pic.

The photo can then be hung in a highly public place – not only the entrance hall, but above the bed, or in the kitchen. Because the bogan knows there is nothing that guests want to see more during dinner than their 45 year-old hostess leaning seductively over their plate of beef and black bean.

Ok, so I’m seriously trying to get back on the blogging band wagon, so in order to do this what else is there to write about other than my beloved pooch?!

Ralph, my wee Shih-Tzu x Schipperke had some serious facial hair, and no, he wasn’t doing Movember!  I’m new to the dog grooming thing, as my last dog was a boxer who didn’t need any maintenance at all.  I was recommended a groomer out in Miramar called Smooch Pooch… cute! So as per usual, here is my lovely little Ralph before and after… what a handsome wee fellow!!

And how handsome he looks!  I must give big ups to Calley at Smooch Pooch, she is really lovely and so are her 2 wee babies Milo & Otis.  She lets all the dogs hang out together and she made sure that Ralphie-burger was a happy little man the whole time.  He seemed to have a great time and even better he smelt amazing for the next week!

You might also note he has a sweet new bandanna… this is also courtesy of Smooch Pooch, as all new grooms get a free bandanna and a $10 voucher, I’ll be cashing mine in stat!!

San Francisco signed Fair Workplace and Housing laws into effect with Harvey Milk and Mayor Moscone in 1979, now 30 years later Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker signs his name to the list of champions of human rights.

This afternoon, before a crowd of 50-100 people, Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker follow the recommendation of the Salt Lake Human Rights Commission and signed into law the recently approved Fair Workplace and Housing ordinances with cheers from onlookers. Earlier this year, the Human Rights Commission, led by Jon Jepsen delivered a report to the Mayor and the City Council detailing discriminations that are being visited on a large number of Salt Lake City residents. According to the report, members of the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) community in Salt Lake are being unfairly treated, as under current laws in Salt Lake it is legal to fire, refuse to employ, evict and refuse housing based on sexual orientation or gender identity.

“Salt Lake is behind the majority of this country” when it comes to these rights said Jepsen, and something needs to be done about it. The Mayor went further and said he hoped these rights would spread “throughout the rest of the state.”

Macy is a little designer dog (possibly a schnoodle) who’s already been here a few days without any applications.  She’s wearing a bright collar, but no ID tags, so it’s hard to locate her family.  Also, she is very thin and her coat is in horrible condition.  She would be much more comfortable after a nice bath, groom, and brush-out.  It’s important to remember that dogs like Macy need to be brushed regularly and groomed every 4-6 weeks so that their coats don’t become matted or tangled.  This is a commitment that Macy’s new owners will need to make so that she can be beautiful and comfortable all year long.  In spite of her current situation, Macy is a very happy dog who just loves people (and cookies too!).  She would dance around on her hind legs or sit pretty for a cookie and hopped right up on the bench to sit beside someone to get some attention.  She’s definitely very people oriented and would make a great companion for someone looking for a small, yet playful, dog to complete their family.  Please don’t let Macy’s age deter you from adopting her.  Small dogs like Macy can live for more than 15 years with proper preventative medicine, nutrition, and exercise, so she has a lot of years left to love!  Don’t delay in coming out to meet Miss Macy because her time here is almost up!

Oz is a little poodle/terrier mix weighing in at only 16 pounds.  Oz ended up at animal control after possibly being hit by a car.  Oz can walk and get around just fine but has a problem bumping in to things because of blindness.  There is a cataract in the left eye and the right eye seems to have some sort of infection.  Oz is available only to rescue groups because of the blindness.  Besides the blindness, Oz seems to be a nice dog who didn’t fuss at all about being picked up, carried.

I want to thank you for your continued support of my blogs as this last week has turned more political than I had wanted  to, especially in the light of the upcoming Christmas season.  However I don’t think the issues dealing with the Muslim faith infiltrating our society, taking advantage of our tolerance and then using our rules and laws against us is a left or right issue but an issue important to every American who doesn’t want to live under Sharia Law or feel the wrath of an Islamic terrorist.  The Fort Hood tragedy is a tragedy on so many levels:

1. For the dead and the wounded servicemen,

2. For the fact that the murderer wasn’t shot dead but is being kept alive on taxpayer’s dollars,

3. The revelation of the deterioration of the United States Armed Forces due to the fact that political correctness has taken over its leadership,

4. The government’s and media’s reluctance to call Nidal Malik Hasan a terrorist.  Instead the word here being used is “disgruntled”.  Yes, a disgruntled muslim who was bullied…as if this seasoned army officer was a school child.  The press from FOX NEWS to CNN has invited relatives and other Muslim pundits (on both TV and Web) to paint the picture of Hasan as a man driven to madness whose religion was only a side issue.

The only official I have heard make an ounce of sense in this matter is Senator Liberman, who called the slaughter an act of terrorism.  It is sad but there is a portion of this country who was more willing to tie the Oklahoma Bombings in 1995 to talk radio and Christian Fundamentalism then there are people willing to condemn Hasan as an Islamic terrorist and traitor to the US Army whom he served in a time of war.  The only problem with that loony logic is that the planes that were flown into buildings on September 11th weren’t, weren’t hijacked by Christians, or political shock jocks, but Islamic terrorists; neither is it Christian children running into crowded marketplaces blowing up innocent lives, and all though it is not our government official stance that we are fighting a war against Islam but of radical terrorists elements in the Middle East, it is muslim clerics who have justified attacks against America as well has sworn jihad against our nation.

An article was sent my way from the New York Post that clearly illustrates the tragedy of the mass murder and the absurdity of both the government’s and the media’s reaction.  I ask you to read this article as the columnist, Ralph Reed, goes into great detail on just how devious a person this Hasan was, and how inept the government leadership was when handling a soldier who clearly sent up multiple red flags during his tenure at both Walter Reed Hospital in D.C. and at Fort Hood.

Islamist terror strikes US again

On Thursday afternoon, a radicalized Muslim US Army officer shouting “Allahu Akbar!” committed the worst act of terror on American soil since 9/11. And no one wants to call it an act of terror or associate it with Islam.

What cowards we are. Political correctness killed those patriotic Americans at Ft. Hood as surely as the Islamist gunman did. And the media treat it like a case of non-denominational shoplifting.

This was a terrorist act. When an extremist plans and executes a murderous plot against our unarmed soldiers to protest our efforts to counter Islamist fanatics, it’s an act of terror. Period.

When the terrorist posts anti-American hate-speech on the Web; apparently praises suicide bombers and uses his own name; loudly criticizes US policies; argues (as a psychiatrist, no less) with his military patients over the worth of their sacrifices; refuses, in the name of Islam, to be photographed with female colleagues; lists his nationality as “Palestinian” in a Muslim spouse-matching program, and parades around central Texas in a fundamentalist playsuit — well, it only seems fair to call this terrorist an “Islamist terrorist.”

But the president won’t. Despite his promise to get to all the facts. Because there’s no such thing as “Islamist terrorism” in ObamaWorld.

And the Army won’t. Because its senior leaders are so sick with political correctness that pandering to America-haters is safer than calling terrorism “terrorism.”

And the media won’t. Because they have more interest in the shooter than in our troops — despite their crocodile tears.

Maj. Nadal Malik Hasan planned this terrorist attack and executed it in cold blood. The resulting massacre was the first tragedy. The second was that he wasn’t killed on the spot.

Hasan survived. Now the rest of us will have to foot his massive medical bills. Activist lawyers will get involved, claiming “harassment” drove him temporarily insane. There’ll be no end of trial delays. At best, taxpayer dollars will fund his prison lifestyle for decades to come, since our politically correct Army leadership wouldn’t dare pursue or carry out the death penalty.

Maj. Hasan will be a hero to Islamist terrorists abroad and their sympathizers here. While US Muslim organizations decry his acts publicly, Hasan will be praised privately. And he’ll have the last laugh.

But Hasan isn’t the sole guilty party. The US Army’s unforgivable political correctness is also to blame for the casualties at Ft. Hood.

Given the myriad warning signs, it’s appalling that no action was taken against a man apparently known to praise suicide bombers and openly damn US policy. But no officer in his chain of command, either at Walter Reed Army Medical Center or at Ft. Hood, had the guts to take meaningful action against a dysfunctional soldier and an incompetent doctor.

Had Hasan been a Lutheran or a Methodist, he would’ve been gone with the simoon. But officers fear charges of discrimination when faced with misconduct among protected minorities.

Now 12 soldiers and a security guard lie dead. 31 soldiers were wounded, 28 of them seriously. If heads don’t roll in this maggot’s chain of command, the Army will have shamed itself beyond moral redemption.

There’s another important issue, too. How could the Army allow an obviously incompetent and dysfunctional psychiatrist to treat our troubled soldiers returning from war? An Islamist whacko is counseled for arguing with veterans who’ve been assigned to his care? And he’s not removed from duty? What planet does the Army live on?

For the first time since I joined the Army in 1976, I’m ashamed of its dereliction of duty. The chain of command protected a budding terrorist who was waving one red flag after another. Because it was safer for careers than doing something about him.

Get ready for the apologias. We’ve already heard from the terrorist’s family that “he’s a good American.” In their world, maybe he is.

But when do we, the American public, knock off the PC nonsense?

A disgruntled Muslim soldier murdered his officers way back in 2003, in Kuwait, on the eve of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Recently? An American mullah shoots it out with the feds in Detroit. A Muslim fanatic attacks an Arkansas recruiting station. A Muslim media owner, after playing the peace card, beheads his wife. A Muslim father runs over his daughter because she’s becoming too Westernized.

Muslim terrorist wannabes are busted again and again. And we’re assured that “Islam’s a religion of peace.”

I guarantee you that the Obama administration’s non-response to the Ft. Hood attack will mock the memory of our dead.
