Random access memory is a type of computer storage whose contents can be accessed in a fixed position ignores the data in memory. This is in contrast to sequential memory devices, such as magnetic tapes, disks and drums, in which the mechanical movement of the storage media to force the computer to access data sequentially.

We could tell you not to panic, but that would be pointless. As our computer is as much a part of our anatomy as our legs, we’re going to panic when something goes wrong. So after you’ve panicked, it’s time to figure out what to do.

First, if you suspect it’s a virus that has caused the above, you can attempt to remove it yourself. Personally, this is not the method I use as I just don’t have the patience for it. However, there are plenty of people who can and do have the patience, and utilizing such books as Windows Lockdown, they discover how to eliminate an intruding virus. It might take them a bit of time, but they get their computer cleaned with little to no money out of pocket. I reiterate, that’s not what I do.

So my next suggestion is for all of you who would much rather have someone else take care of the problem while you’re home biting your nails. Here goes:

Let me say this up front as it’s extremely important. Do not assume that a big name computer repair company is going to fix your computer with little or no hassle and have you back to work on your masterpiece within a day or so. I have, in the past, depended upon a computer repair company that is well-known and boasts about its quick repair times and efficient service. Almost a month later, I got my computer back with just as many problems as I’d originally had.

Anyway, my suggestion would be to look for someone in your town/city with a good reputation. You might want to spend a little bit of time searching for computer repair companies/individuals on the Internet. Don’t just look at their prices. Look at their customer ratings if they have any. Check out what they do, their turnaround times, and whether or not they offer guarantees.

Next, call your chosen place and ask a few questions. You want them to sound knowledgeable without trying to make you feel like an idiot because you don’t what RAM actually does. Look upon this as a mini-interview. Just as you research agents and publishers, you need to research your computer repair specialist. Tell him/her the problem and see what they say. If their automatic response is ‘you’ll have to bring it in and let me take a look at it’, find out if they offer free diagnostics. If not, will they take the cost of the diagnostic off the final repair price?

Once you’ve chosen the individual/company that’s going to be working on your baby and you take your computer in, be sure to get the name of the tech you’re speaking to. If the individual is not a tech, ask if you can speak with one before you just hand over your computer. You want to make sure it’s in good hands. Once you speak with the tech, get his/her name as well and get an anticipated turnaround time for the repairs.

When you leave the store or the individual’s place of business, make sure you have a repair ticket or proof that the computer you’re leaving behind is yours. You don’t want any mix-ups when you return.

And just a quick add-on before we end Part I, always pay by check if at all possible. You don’t want to give a credit card or debit card number as some places may add fees you didn’t authorize, i.e., the upload of a new virus software. They will just automatically charge your card because it’s written in the really tiny print on the front page of that paper you signed and didn’t take the time to read. So a check is always preferable. If they don’t take checks, use your credit card, but make sure they know you are only authorizing payment for the charges you have discussed, no more. I actually write that on the repair sheet, and I draw a line through any nebulous terminology that has to do with additional charges.

So ends Part I. Part II will include ways to protect your computer, back-up your files even if you don’t have an external hard-drive, and ways to avoid being scammed with the brand new, shiny software that is supposed to do everything but wipe off your computer screen.

We have shot our first show and we air the 21.  I am super proud of it not because it is the next best thing which, I secretly believe it is but that I actually had a thought, prayed and here it is.  I learned a lot doing everything for the show.  Note to self: don’t do everything.  I tried to get help but everyone has life issues and I have to keep it moving.  The guest were all so accommodating and the process was very rewarding.  I learned so much about possibility and what I could do to make this show come off.  Was I scared, frightfully. I was more afraid to fail at something I believed if I just kept trying I could pull off.

I went to the cable access studio and spoke to any and all people who would talk to me especially Lilia and Chavel, invaluable in their help.  They basically told me I was only limited to my knowledge of the equipment and imagination of what I could do in the studio to make a good show.  My imagination I was sure of, my knowledge of the Tricaster, not so much.

As a first time multi hyphen artist Producer-Editor-Actor I was pretty nervous when it came to actually be in front of the camera.  I was disheveled at any little disruption of the mapped out plan in my head.  I wasn’t prepared to see my face in the monitor.  I wasn’t prepared to hear a cell phone go off on the studio floor, twice, and not react to it as the producer in me would because I was on camera.  I wasn’t prepared to have a quite, sweet, senior gentleman be my camera operator and not know how to focus for my master wide shot.  I wasn’t prepared to be blinded by the glaring lights and I wasn’t prepared to hear the deafening silence when I made a joke.  The crew knowing not to laugh out loud while shooting …or at least I think that’s why they were holding in their thunderous chuckles.

It’s hard in front.  Sitting in the chair of a trained actress is a hard thing. Although I have always respected the craft, I have new found respect and appreciation.  I did the research, I prepared and knew the topic and how it should be presented but when the lights go on and that red light comes on you really are on.  You have to then pull all the hard work into play as effortlessly as breathing.  Okay, so I had a few asthma attacks.

Through it all we shot three shows shot that day.  I felt I got better with time.  I will try to get my earning curve up to speed. They say necessity is the mother of all invention.  So stay tuned World.

De acordo com informações internacionais, a nova geração do Fiat Doblò deverá ser vendida também nos Estado Unidos. O modelo seria comercializado por lá sob a responsabilidade da marca Ram, nova divisão de veículos comerciais da Chrysler. Ele chegaria em 2012.

As especulações surgiram devido a uma série de fatores. Um deles é o lançamento previsto de um pequeno furgão para a marca Ram nos EUA. Em coletiva realizada no início deste mês, a empresa teria anunciado ainda que este utilitário viria da Fiat. Outro aspecto considerável é a boa aceitação do Connect, da Ford, que tem porte semelhante.

Para completar, o Doblò seria uma novidade bastante interessante para incrementar a gama de veículos da Ram.

Today is Wednesday which means that, we have all made it half way through the week. The thought is not that exciting to me, because as you can remember last weekend I spent most of my time on my computer anyway. I hope that this weekend will be different. The only things which really gets to me is if I think something is wrong with my computer or with a friends computer, then I need to fix it and I won’t stop until I actually have a decent understand of what is really going on.

It is summer time in my country but that doesn’t stop me from fussing over my computer and making sure that my antivirus is always up to date. Some people never spend much time on their computers when the sun is out, due to always choosing other stuff. The truth of the matter is that I will never ever choose anything over my computers security. This is just me and my opinions and the way that I see the world of computers and computer security.

This blog reminds me that I need to seriously find new RAM for my pc as the speed is driving me completely mad. I want a super fast computer, I actually want the fastest computer in the entire world, I think then I would be seriously happy if I could make that dream come true. Consumers of pc systems knows that ram stands for random access memory acting as form of computer data storing. Presently ram is found in the form of integrated circuits allowing storage of data which could be accessed in any order. The meaning of ram’s first word is that any piece of data which could be taken by at any given point of time regardless of its physical location , not necessary that it should be related to previous data. So in this way the storing devices of ram such as magnetic discs and optical discs based on the physical movement of the recording medium.

Consumers will find that in ram the movement takes longer time than the data transferring and according to that the retrieval time differs based on the concept of physical location of the next item. People should also know that ram is connected to volatile kinds of memory where information goes down once the power switched off. Several kinds of ram memories includes rom and flash memory called as nor-flash. The older ram just appears as magnetic core memory which was developed in 1952. After that the oldest form of ram still in use till the development of static and dynamic integrated ram circuits launched in the market in the late 60s and 70s . Before the production of ram computers which were mostly using relays, delay line memory and various kinds of vacuum tube arrangements for implementing main memory functions and some of them were random access and few of them not.

Later latches built out of vacuum tube triodes and discrete transistors having the usages for mediumer and faster memories such as random access register banks and registers. Several modern kinds of writable ram stores bit of data in the state of flip-flop similarly like in sram and as charging capacitor such as in dram, eprom, eeprom, and the flash. Several types of ram carries circuitry detects and also correct random faults called as memory errors present in the storing data with the help of parity bits and error correction codes.Most of the consumers of ram should have information before making its usage in many electrical devices for the best results.

I’m sure some of you would have experienced at some point Excel showing the following error message:

”Damage to the file was so extensive that repairs were not possible.  Excel attempted to recover your formulas and values, but some data may have been lost or corrupted”

I’m here to break some myths surrounding Excel file corruption.

MYTH: My Excel file corrupts because the file is too big.

WRONG!

The corrupted file above is only 1.8Mb

What is the real reason for my file to go corrupt then?

Your Excel file becomes corrupt mainly because it now requires more resources (RAM) than what your computer has. Your version of Excel can process up to a limit of 1GB of RAM computation for Excel 2003 and 160MB for Excel 2002 (check your version). Your PC however has available usually around 500MB of RAM (after taking into account other programmes that you are using e.g. Outlook).

How do I reduce the amount of resources that my Excel file uses?

There are 2 things that you can do:

1. Avoid using symbols in your tab names (e.g. “@”, “(“, “)”, “-”). (This is the easiest step, but least effective)
2. Cut down on your VLOOKUP formula (this is the hardest because this formula is so prevalent, but it is the biggest resource hog in Excel)

What are the actions I can take to cut down on use of VLOOKUP formula?

1. Keep lookup range on the same worksheet
   If your range is small, keep it on the same worksheet instead of creating a separate tab for it.
2. Sort the lookup range and use “type 1” lookup (beware of error potential of unmatched lookups)
   Most of the time (in fact all the time), we use “type 0” lookup, i.e. the zero in the last variable VLOOKUP(A$,$C$3:$D$9,2,0). This actually forces Excel to search the entire block of data range, clogging up RAM everytime Excel tries to calculate, given our large data range and number of formulas.
   “Type 1” lookup will instead stop when the match is found, or the closest match, but this formula works only when the range is sorted in ascending alphabetical order.
   WARNING: Use with caution, however, as “type 1” lookup will not flag error if there is no exact match. One way to workaround is to use the MATCH formula at the side to look for an exact match.
3. Cut down on lookup range size
   Some of us, due to the large data range, will conveniently select the whole column as our lookup. DON’T! As my point above, this combined with “type 0” lookup actually forces Excel to search >65k rows for each and every computation cell. That’s a lot of search to do!
   So the rule is, VLOOKUP(A$,$C$3:$D$9,2,0) is better than VLOOKUP(A$,$C:$D,2,0), even though they will give you the same result. The former will only lookup 7 rows, while the latter is looking up 65,536 rows!
4. Use alternative formula (e.g. INDEX + MATCH, OFFSET)
   VLOOKUP is popular because everyone knows it. But if you know you’re going to work on a large extensive model, it could be worth your while to explore other formulas which might give you less heartache.

Derrière ce titre accrocheur se cache un outil puissant et simple à utiliser : RamDisk (RamDisk ne veut rien dire en soit, c’est simplement le nom de la méthode utilisée). On peut l’utiliser sous Linux, Windows et Mac. Sera abordé ici seulement le cas de Linux et de Windows.

De quoi s’agit-il ?

Comme son nom l’indique, on parlera ici de ram et de disque. Ce qui se passe est très simple, au lieux que certains de vos fichiers soient stockés sur votre disque dur, RamDisk les placera dans la ram. Comme vous le savez, la ram est bien plus rapide en temps d’accès ainsi qu’en taux de transfert qu’une solution de stockage ‘physique’ et permanente. L’ordre de grandeur brut est supérieur à au moins 50x.

Le temps de lecture d’un fichier est un problème récurent en informatique. C’est un véritable goulot d’étranglement.

La majorité des machines à travers le monde sont équipées d’un ou plusieurs disques dur magnétique (de conception mécanique) dont la majorité ont comme performances les suivantes : de l’ordre de 70 Mo / sec en lecture et en écriture, accompagné d’un temps d’accès d’environ une dizaine de millisecondes.  La solution apparue ces dernières années et qui va s’imposer sans trop de doute sous peu est l’utilisation de disques SDD. Ces derniers utilisent des puces flash (de conception électronique) ; cette caractéristique technique explique leurs performances élevés ; on y observe des vitesses  tâtonnant quelque centaine de Mo / sec ( voir site : http://www.clubic.com/article-281456-5-comparatif-disques-ssd.html ). Les taux de transfert peuvent être augmentés grâce à une architecture RAID : Définition Raid. Cependant, c’est le coût des SSD qui explique leur lente progression sur le marché.

Voici un assez vieux document de grande qualité (en anglais) qui compare les performances des systèmes de fichier Unix nfs et ufs avec tmpfs (voir plus loin, qui représente ici notre RamDisk). Malgré la date du dit document, les ordres de grandeur sont toujours d’actualité en terme de performances (les gains observés sont optenus avec une manupulation de fichiers simple et non par le traitement d’une application serveur quelconque). http://www.solarisinternals.com/si/reading/tmpfs.pdf.

Je vais commencer par un exemple qui j’espère va illustrer l’efficacité de cette méthode. Il s’agit d’un cas pratique que j’ai rencontré il y a quelque temps. Vous êtes libre de sauter cette section et de passer à la création proprement dite d’un ramdisk sous Linux ou Windows, cependant cet exemple montre avec simplicité combien RamDisk peut être utile et efficace. Certaines notions sont spécifiques à la communication client – serveur ainsi qu’aux jeux en réseau particulièrement le mmorpg wow. Je suppose que vous en connaissez les lignes droites.

Un ami m’avait demandé comment les serveurs de Wow (World of Warcraft) marchaient et s’il était possible de facilement créer un serveur privé afin de ne pas passer par les serveur officiels pour jouer. La liberté de jeu devient alors totale puisque vous devenez les administrateurs (Mj-Gm).

Après quelques recherches ; la marche à suivre ne me paraissait pas particulièrement difficile à effectuer, je me suis donc lancé et ai réussi sans trop de problèmes.

Principalement l’installation requiert deux composants : le client serveur et la base de données Sql. Ces deux composants peuvent être optimisés grâce à RamDisk !

Voici comment.

Note : je ne vais pas vous expliquer le fonctionnement complet d’un serveur wow car ça serait bien trop long et mais aussi simplement parce que je ne connaît pas toutes les clés nécessaires à une compréhension exhaustive de l’ensemble.

Ici, le client représente le joueur, le client serveur représente le serveur. Client en réseau veux dire l’un des deux membres d’une communication.

En ce qui concerne le client serveur : il utilise régulièrement de nombreux fichiers (entre autre de cartes) ; chargé à chaque fois qu’un utilisateur se déplace dans le jeu. Le serveur doit envoyer ces informations (il s’agit des autres joueurs, des monstres, etc) au client afin d’établir la persistance du Rpg. La latence du serveur dépend de ces fichiers nombreux et ou volumineux. Le temps d’accès est variable, il est de quelques millisecondes au plusieurs dizaines en cas de charge importante (lorsque de nombreux joueurs sont connectés). Au temps d’accès au fichier s’ajoute le temps de calcul nécessaire aux traitement de l’information( dans ce cas, c’est la rapidité du processeur qui détermine le temps d’exécution). Un ping faible garantit une expérience de jeu idéale. Ainsi en plaçant les fichiers nécessaires du serveur dans un dossier RamDisk, la phase de lecture de fichiers sera fortement réduite et c’est ici que se trouvera l’optimisation.

Maintenant, nous allons optimiser le serveur Sql. Il suffit de placer votre dossier racine Sql dans le dossier ou disque RamDisk que vous avez créé (voir la remarque finale en ce qui concerne la persistance des données). Je vous renvoie vers des sites qui ont réalisé les test et benchmark correspondants. Pour une mise en place précise, aller voir ici : http://www.superspeed.com/servers/ms-sql-performance.php. L’optimisation varie d’une installation à une autre.

Sous Linux Ubuntu, comment utiliser RamDisk ?

Il faut utiliser la commande tmpfs afin de créer un disque dur virtuel monté dans l’arborescence du système de fichiers. Pourquoi un tel nom ? Tmpfs, veux dire tmp venant de temporaire, fs signifie FileSystem ou système de fichier(comme ext2-3-4 ou fat32-NTFS). Est assez bien résumé ce que fait la commande : on créé un système de fichier temporaire dans la ram.

Ceci est la ligne de commande générique (vous devez être root pour utiliser mount):

mkdir /tmp/ramdisk
mount -t tmpfs -o size=512M,mode=1777 tmpfs /tmp/ramdisk
Deux remarques, la taille est en Mo ; le mode représente les droits d’accès du nouveau système de fichier(se référer aux droits Unix).

Cette commande à été testé avec succès sous Ubuntu 9.10.

Sous Windows, il n’y a pas vraiment grand chose à faire, il suffit d’installer un programme qui va effectuer le travail. Il va simplement créer un disque que vous allez pouvoir voir dans le poste de travail(comme F:/).

Les programmes sont nombreux(http://www.superspeed.com/servers/ramdisk.php), je vois redirige vers google pour trouver celui qui vous convient. Apparemment, il est aussi possible de créer un tel disque à l’aide d’un driver (http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/05/27/free-ramdisk-for-windows-vista-xp-2000-and-2003-server/), ce ne sont pas ces informations qui manquent sur les forums du web.

Remarque : utiliser RamDisk regroupe tout de même des désavantages à savoir qu’en cas d’extinction du courant, si vôtre système n’est pas alimenté par une source alternative, le donnés placées dans le dossier seront perdues. Libre à vous de créer un utilitaire qui sauvegarde les données à intervalle régulier ou à l’extinction du serveur (assez simple sous Linux, vous pourrez par exemple créer un démon qui utilise la commande dd). Ces utilitaires sont nombreux sous windows et sont des plus simple d’utilisation. La quantité de ram installée sur le système détermine directement l’utilisation qui sera possible. Partant du principe que l’application tournera sur un serveur, cette quantité peux monter rapidement et sans un coût exorbitant.

Maintenant que vous savez comment procéder, c’est sur l’imagination de l’administrateur réseau que je me repose.

C’est en connaissant et en comprenant la totalité d’un sytème que l’on sait apprécier le comportement de ce dernier dans son ensemble. C’est un peu l’analyse que j’ai effectué avec le cas du serveur privé wow. Il m’a semblé judicieux de faire des optimisations la ou des ralentissement était présents.

Memory or RAM plays an important role in the performance of a computer. It is a temporary storage place that allows the microprocessor to access data faster. If the computer’s processor will access data exclusively from the hard disk, it will take too long to retrieve every piece of data and the overall performance of the computer will be very sluggish. This is the reason why higher capacity memory space significantly improves the speed and performance of a computer. However, upgrading computer memory or RAM can sometimes be burdensome for some people who are not that tech-savvy. Even for knowledgeable person, finding the right type of memory or RAM is not that pretty straight forward.

Hello everyone. Today I will be reviewing the pc/laptop selection at Best Buy for this black friday sale. For those of you who don’t know what black friday is. It is a sale held the morning after thanksgiving “November 27th this year” where lines are wrapped around the building waiting for the store to open to get the cheapest deals of the year. Now I know that there are some people who don’t know what they are looking for in a computer, so before my review I will give a cheat sheet on what to look for. Here I will list 3 main things to look for.

Hard Drive -Also abbreviated as HD the size of the hard drive will determine how much information can be stored on your computer. The size of the hard drives that I will review are sorted from Gigabytes (GB) and Terabytes (TB). Now just to let you know how large a TB is you would need 1000 GB to equal 1 TB.

Random access memory – Most always abbreviated as (Ram) or just memory comes in a much lower number than hard drives. Do not confuse Hard drive for Ram, Ram determines speed not storage and can be added to a computer much easier than a hard drive. the ram in my review will range from 1 GB to 8 GB.

Central Processing Unit – Abbreviated as (CPU) the main purpose of the cpu is to carry out the instructions of a computer program. CPU’s are the main reason that the cost of a computer can range so much in price. The leaders in the cpu market are Intel and AMD. Bottom line the better the cpu the faster and better at  multitasking your computer will be.

Now on to the reviews.

First off the Compaq Netbook w/Intel Atom Processor, 1GB Memory, 160GB Hard Drive – $179.99 Great for surfing the web and to type up work on the go, and with a 160GB HD you could store lots of music,pictures, and work files. but I wouldn’t try to take on any video games with the low 1gb of ram/memory. For the price I think that this is one of the better laptops out this season. Now there is also an alternative model of this that is the same except for a larger 250GB hard drive and a larger price tag of $229.99.

Next we have the Dell 10.1″ Netbook w/Intel Atom Processor, 1GB Memory, 160GB Hard Drive – $379.99  Here you are paying more for the Dell name, and I wouldn’t recommend to get a dell seeing as anyone I know who has had a dell has it break down within the year.That and the price tag is way to heavy for what it is offering. Come on this is supposed to be a sale!

Now on to a PC with the eMachines Desktop w/AMD Athlon Processor, 3GB RAM, 320GB HD, Windows 7, w/18.5″ LCD Monitor and HP Deskjet Printer – $299.97  Now emachines aren’t the best that money can buy but they get the job done, and with this you could get a lot done. If you are looking for an all in one under $300 you don’t get any better than this. This would be a great gift for someone who is starting out or anyone who wants to play games, download music, surf the web, or type up work.

If you were wondering about a laptop with the power and handling of most normal pc’s  here it is the HP 15.6″ Notebook w/AMD Turion II Dual Core Processor M500, 6GB Memory, 320GB Hard Drive, Windows 7 – $599.99 And if there isn’t enough ram and HD on that for your needs there is another model the HP 15.6″ Notebook w/AMD Turion II Dual Core Processor M500, 8GB Memory, 500GB Hard Drive, Windows 7 – $699.99  But with a large ram and hard drive they also get a large price tag to back them up. Now if you really need that much power to carry around with you then by all means, but if you just need a sit at home pc with even more power and lower price tag then I would just wait for what I have next.

This I believe is the buy of the night the HP Desktop AMD X4 Quad Core, 8GB Memory, 1TB Hard Drive w/20″ Monitor, HP Deskjet DJ350 Color Printer & Windows 7 Home Premium – $499.97 Now this all in one pc this pc would  usually run for about $1400 retail without the printer and monitor. And with a 1TB hard drive  and 8 GB of ram it blows any other computer for sale out of the water in terms of storage and speed. Some may still be scared of the price but remember a computer is only as good as what you use it for, if all you are doing is surfing the web and typing papers then you don’t need a high end computer. But if you want to download music/pictures, play games , watch movies and everything else that you could think of then you need the tools for the job and then some.

On to a mac or as I called them in school macentrashes Macbook 13.3″ Notebook w/2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB DDR3 Memory, 250GB Hard Drive, w/$150 Gift Card – $999.99 Now its not that I hate macs its just that they are more of a business computer and horrible at multitasking, and with a $999.99 price tag and not very impressive ram and hd size I feel like im just paying for the name. p.s. last time I got a gift card I couldn’t use it until my next visit.

We are reaching the end of the barrel with the Sony 15″ Laptop w/Intel Dual Core Processor, 4GB Memory, 320GB Hard Drive, Windows 7 – $399.99  and the  Sony 15″ Laptop w/Intel Dual Core Processor, 4GB RAM, 320GB HD, Windows 7, Sony Headphones, Built-In Blu-ray, Blu-ray Movie – $479.97 Both great for gaming but only one has a Blu-ray for watching blu-ray movies. my answer to this is buy a PS3 if you want a gaming system by sony that can play blu-ray. On the other hand it is a great laptop at a fair price.

last but not least the Toshiba 16″ Laptop w/Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 3GB DDR3 Memory, 250GB Hard Drive (Model # L505-S5984) – $399.99  and the Toshiba 16″ Laptop w/Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 4GB DDR3 Memory, 320GB Hard Drive (Model # L505-S5984) w/Printer and Case – $499.97 Did I say not least oops sorry about that. both of these laptops come with very little features and a very undesirable price tag.

Rocktower Festival Lübeck – The Easter Metalfestival 3. April 2010

On the 3rd April 2010, at 11 am, the Lübecker Musik- und Kongreßhalle and Treibsand will open their gates for the second Rocktower Festival Lübeck. The buzz starts on Friday with the metalmarket in the „Muk“ and warm-up Shows in Treibsand and Sounds.

MUK rocks. And this time it’s gonna be heavy! Now in it’s second year, the Easter Metalfestival will be raising the roof of the white house at the River Trave on Easter Saturday. Get ready for Hard Rock and Heavy-Metal fever. Thanks to the cooperation of „Treibsand”, this year we are able to present 19 national and international bands performing live. Two stages – two worlds: MuK meets Treibsand. Perfect conditions for the 14 hours concert marathon with top-class bands showcasing different styles of Metal and Hard Rock.

Appearing live are: Kalmah, Endstille, Finntroll, Powerwolf, Van Canto, Blitzkrieg, Raven, Cursed Anguish, Nastrandir, Entombed, Thunderbolt, Omen, Equilibrium, Asmodis, RAM, Roxxcalibur, Ruffians, The Devils Blood, The Rods.

Rocktower Festival Lübeck – The Easter Metalfestival 3. April 2010

Am 3. April 2010 um 11.00 Uhr öffnen die Lübecker Musik- und Kongresshalle (MuK) und das“ Treibsand“ ihre Tore für das zweite Rocktower Festival Lübeck. Und bereits am Freitag beginnt in Lübeck, mit der Metal-Börse in der „Muk“ und warm-up Shows im „Treibsand“ und im „Sounds“, der Ausnahmezustand.

Die „MuK“ rockt. Und dieses Mal wird’s richtig hart. Im zweiten Jahr erbebt das weiße Haus an der Trave am Ostersamstag im Hardrock- und Heavy-Metall-Fieber. 19 nationale und internationale Bands haben sich angekündigt. Sie spielen parallel auf zwei Bühnen: in der „MuK“ und im „Treibsand“, dem Veranstaltungsraum der „Alternative e.V.. Zwischen beiden Veranstaltungsorten liegen Welten aber nur wenige Schritte zu Fuß

Der vierzehnstündige Konzertmarathon mit hochkarätigen Bands aus verschiedenen Richtungen des Metal- und Hardrock beginnt am Sonnabend, dem 3. April 2010, um 11.30 Uhr. Tickets gibt es im Vorverkauf für 42,90 Euro, an der Abendkasse für 46 Euro.

Am Freitagabend stimmen warm-up-Shows im „Treibsand“ und im „Sounds“, An der Untertrave 81-83, auf das Marathonfestival ein. In der „MuK“ beginnt am Freitag die Metal-Börse mit Fan-Artikel-Verkaufsständen. (Weitere Infos folgen)

When Dodge announced that it wouldn’t be sharing its Ram platform with Nissan, we just kind of assumed that the Titan was going to go the way of the Do Do. Why? Because Titan sales are the suck. Nissan has only sold 15,393 copies of its largest truck through the first 10 months of the year. For perspective, Ford sold more F-150s in the first two weeks of October than Nissan has sold in 43 weeks. Last year wasn’t much better either, as only 30,000 customers walked out of a Nissan dealer with a new Titan.

But if a report from Inside Line is to be believed, the Titan will live on. Renault/Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn reportedly told IL that “Titan will have a replacement, we are staying in the large pickup truck market.” It makes a bit of sense that there will be another Titan given the fact that Nissan also uses the basic platform for the Infiniti QX56 and the Nissan Armada. But then again those portly SUVs aren’t exactly flying off the shelf, either.

Speculation is that Nissan could be looking for an outside partner (or already have one) to collaborate on a new pickup. We’re thinking one candidate could be Toyota. The only other Japanese automaker competing directly with the domestics in the U.S. half-ton pickup truck market, Toyota was expecting to produce 200,000 units per year of the Tundra when the it launched, but has sold only 66,000 through October. Teaming up with Nissan would help bring costs down, soak up extra production capacity and mitigate the risk inherent in competing against Ford, GM and Chrysler at what they do best.

Hoje estréia aqui o episódio piloto de Super.Natural++, uma paródia computacional da série de TV americana Supernatural. O meu vício em Supernatural é muito grande, daí essa foi a forma que encontrei pra extravasar ahauhuhahua. Algumas coisas só terão graça pra quem acompanha a série, outras só para quem entende de computação. Outras ainda não terão absolutamente graça nenhuma. Mas lê aí, só pra me fazer feliz kkkkk.

SUPER.NATURAL++: EPISÓDIO PILOTO

Lagoa Grande, Minas Gerais…

Um homem já de meia idade levanta-se do seu sofá após ver um programa de TV sobre a bolsa de valores. Ele caminha até o seu escritório, liga o computador e tenta acessar a Internet. Sem sucesso. Verifica a conexão, o modem, tudo parece normal, porém nada funciona. Ele faz uma ligação. Três horas depois, o homem se suicida.

Raí Aparecido Marvolo Winchester, mais conhecido pelo seu apelido Ram, é um rapaz nerd, estudioso, cursando a faculdade de Ciência da Computação no Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) (via OCW). Junto com sua namorada, Jessika Bytes, ele vive uma vida tranquila, até que uma visita inesperada acontece.

- Ram, precisamos conversar!
- Dimm?! O que faz aqui?
- Quem é esse, Ram? – perguntou JessikB.
- Dênis Inocêncio Melquíades Marvolo Winchester, mais conhecido como Dimm… meu irmão!! tchaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAN (música tensa)

- O que você faz aqui, Dimm? – perguntou RAM.
- Papai saiu para uma caçada, e ainda não voltou! tchaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAN (música tensa de novo kkk)
- Jessika, espere aqui, preciso conversar em particular com meu irmão.

Dimm explica a Ram que seu pai, Raí Oneroso Marvolo Winchester, mais conhecido como Rom, foi em busca da coisa que matou a mãe deles. Em seu último contato, Rom disse que estava chegando perto de descobrir a verdade. Apesar da relutância de Ram, ele aceita ir junto com Dimm em busca de respostas sobre o paradeiro de seu pai. A pista: o último local em que Rom esteve: Lagoa Grande, Minas Gerais.

Ram avisa a JessikB que precisa procurar por seu pai e que voltará em breve. Os garotos partem em um Blue Falcon, o carro que Rom deixou para Dimm cuidar. Após algumas horas de viagem, eles chegam a Lagoa Grande e descobrem que a cidade está chocada pela morte de um famoso homem de negócios da região. Ram e Dimm vão até o local do crime, mas descobrem que não foi crime, e sim suicídio. Eles decidem interrogar a secretária do homem.

- Segurança da Internet – mostrando as credenciais – podemos fazer algumas perguntas?
- Nem sabia que isso existia – disse a mulher.
- O senhor Dagoberto estava passando por algum problema?
- Não, ele estava muito bem, as vendas estavam nas alturas. Ele era um homem solitário, mas era feliz.
- O relatório de óbito diz que ele morreu por volta de 02:00 da madrugada. Tem idéia do que ele poderia estar fazendo acordado até essa hora?
- Ele trabalhava muito, mas sempre dormia cedo. Deve ter sido por causa da queda na internet.
- Queda na internet? – estranhou Ram
- Sim, ele ligou para a companhia provedora reclamando. Vocês são da companhia, não sabiam disso?
- Não…. porque o nosso MSN tinha caído, não falaram com a gente, provavelmente por causa da queda na conexão – tentou explicar Dimm.
- A senhora sabe se ele tinha algum inimigo? – perguntou Ram
- Que tipo de pergunta é essa? Ele se suicidou, caramba! Vocês não são quem dizem que são!

Ram e Dimm saem correndo para analisar a situação.

…

- Tipo, o cara se suicida porque está sem conexão à Internet. Não faz o mínimo sentido. Talvez ele não fosse tão bem resolvido assim.
- Dimm, olha só o que achei no Google. Parece que o Sr. Dagoberto estava pra fazer uma transação milionária. Seria o suficiente pra ele se aposentar.
- E sem internet, ele perdeu a transação. Eh, eu acho que eu também me suicidaria no lugar dele. Bem, então se foi só um suicídio, vamos embora.
- Não, Dimm. Veja bem, e se ele não estava sem internet? Cara, você sabe como esses usuários são noobs.
- Talvez ele não conseguiu acessar o site da empresa, que é onde ocorreria a transação, e achou que estava sem conexão. Daí ligou pra companhia de internet.
- Então era só o site da empresa dele que não estava acessível… então… o servidor da empresa estava fora.. e daí?
- Cara, você é burro? Estamos falando de DoS aqui.
- DOS?? Com a mão, RAM, o que isso tem a ver?!
- Putz! Não to falando do SO, animal. To falando de DoS, Denial of Service.

Dimm olhou perplexo para Ram, com cara de “faz sentido”, e disse:

- Olha, Ram, tem lógica o que você disse, mas não é fácil realizar um ataque de negação de serviço.
- Mas é uma disputa entre empresas. Muito provavelmente uma delas possuía os recursos necessários para isso.
- Não, são todas empresas do interior, a maior parte delas têm negócios na agricultura, não usam muito computador. Deve ter sido outra coisa.

Ram vai até o computador de Dagoberto para tentar descobrir alguma coisa. Ao ligá-lo, uma surpresa: ele percebe que o computador não reconhece a placa de rede. Ram retira a placa de rede e a testa em outro computador, sem sucesso.

- Parece que achamos o motivo da falta de internet. Malditos usuários noobs! – xingou Dimm
- Ou não. A falta da internet pode ter feito isso à placa.
- Hey! Programou em Pascal?? Para de falar merda!
- Existe um tipo de DoS conhecido como phlashing. Ele é capaz de explorar falhas em algum dispositivo ligado à rede, atualizando o firmware do dispositivo e tornando-o inoperável. Pra mim essa placa de rede tá brickada.
- VACA SAGRADA! Você é muito nerd, Ram! Então temos que ir atrás de quem vendeu essa placa pra ele.

Vasculhando os documentos de Dagoberto, Ram e Dimm descobrem que ele recentemente trocou sua placa de rede em uma loja local chamada Plaquetas. Ambos vão para o lugar e se deparam com um jovem rapaz. Ao verem Ram e Dimm engravatados, o garoto se assusta e sai correndo para os fundos da loja. Ram e Dimm o seguem e são surpreendidos por uma chuva de modems na cabeça. Dimm dá a volta atrás de uma prateleira e bate com um estabilizador na cabeça do moleque. O moleque cai e começa a chorar.

- Foi você que vendeu a placa adulterada para o Sr. Dagoberto, não foi?
- Sim – disse o garoto – mas eu não queria que o vovô morresse. Eu só queria atrapalhar as vendas dele.
- Ele é seu avô?? – disse Dimm surpreso
- Sim, na noite anterior ele cortou minha internet pra fazer transação. Eu tava jogando Tíbia, tava quase upando quando ele cortou a conexão. Nossa, eu fiquei tão bravo que quis matá-lo. Mas pensei melhor e resolvi só danificar o computador dele. À noite ele veio aqui me pedir uma placa de rede nova, porque ele disse que nada podia atrapalhar a transação daquela noite. Foi quando eu tive minha chance. Peguei uma placa de rede especial que eu tinha guardada e coloquei no computador. Minutos antes da transação, eu apliquei o ataque. Eu não imaginava que ele fosse suicidar.
- Tinha que ser jogador de Tíbia mesmo!! Não adianta, rapaz. Você comentou um crime. VAI PRA CADEIA!! É assim o dia a dia da polícia nos países onde a tolerância é ZERO!

Ram volta pra casa e se despede de Dimm. Ele se encontra com JessikB, os dois têm uma noite louca de amor e JessikB resolve olhar o Orkut antes de dormir. Ram vai pra cama e dorme. De repente, de madrugada, ele acorda e vê JessikB no teto, pegando fogo! A casa pega fogo e ele é obrigado a sair de casa. Ram fica triste e se encontra com seu irmão Dimm de novo. Sem ninguém, ele decide ir com Dimm encontrar seu pai.
