There are a lot of details out on the web right now about the changing course of the new Rambo movie. From this dork’s perspective, as the news developed there was a lot of happiness and a lot of sadness. This has been a roller coaster ride of action and suspense. But it appears that the most recent news is completely inconclusive…is Stallone caving to the pressure of fans and critics…why start now, you made Rambo IV for crying out loud. I believe this would have been a clear signal to film critics and business that you were not really interested in what they think.

So the questions are simple…Stallone…you gonna break?

Let’s paint a quick chronology:

First, 2008, the return…Rambo IV! Not sure what you other dorks thought about the last Rambo flick, but I felt it delivered in all the right departments in the Rambo Shopping Mall. You know like action, blood, death, flying body parts, jungles, steaming gun muzzles! If you have not seen this movie and dig action, I highly recommend it, here is a taste…

Second, August 2009, the announcement…Rambo V: The Savage Hunt! Hell, I think you can make the same movie 20 times and I will still dig it…I mean how can you screw up blood uncontrollable action. Just change up some villains, victims, and the sweaty scenery and you got a whole new 90 minute experience.

Apparently it was originally announced by Variety that Rambo V was going to be about John Rambo navigating his way through human traffickers and drug lords to rescue a young girl abducted near the U.S.-Mexico border. Sounds simple enough to me, and according to CNN there is no more a dangerous locale on Earth right now than at the U.S.-Mexico border and no more villainous scum as the drug cartel. If CNN’s Michael Ware reports from this place…it is like the most god forsaken recipe for death you could ever encounter.

Third, September2009, more details on The Savage Hunt! Stallone comes out with an announcement about part V being basically Predator with John Rambo in the Arnold part…yeah, you got it…a savage hunt for a beast! Here is the synopsis that was floating around the web…

John Rambo could track anyone – or anything – on earth. Now the military desperately needs him for a mission that his ultrasensitive instincts tell him he should refuse. A beast is loose somewhere north of the Artic Circle. It has already decimated a secret research facility and annihilated a squad of elite military guards. And the raging creature is headed south toward civilization, ready to wreak bloody devastation.

It’s a job that Rambo and his 22-year-old hunting partner, Beau Brady, can’t turn down, but they and a team of highly-skilled special forces kill team discover that the prey is a terror beyond their wildest imagination – a half-human abomination created by a renegade agency through a series of outlawed genetic experiments. It has man’s cunning, a predator’s savageness, and a prehistoric power that has transcended the ages. And even if Rambo and Beau survive its unrelenting hunger for human blood, they’ll still have to confront the grim reality that it may have grown immortal.

I realize that this kind of story can be pretty polarizing to the Rambo fan base (if there is one), but hell with them. I thought this concept was awesome. Kind of like if you had a couple parts Predator and Watchers and mixed it with some traditional Rambo bad ass action…and blood…and beasts! Yeah!

Fourth, November 2009, change of plans, WTF?!??! So it seems that the August announcement triggers some negative reactions among the fans and so Stallone comes out and releases this completely cryptic and uncertain announcement. According to MovieWeb.com, Stallone announced:

“I’m letting you know that Rambo has changed course and the story about hunting the man/beast will be done using another character in the lead. RAMBO himself will be heading over the border to a violent city where many young women have vanished”

What the hell does this mean? Is this going to happen in the same movie? How the hell do you pull that off? This sounds like to two places and two leads…that sure adds up two movies in my mind. And why the wavering on the original plot Sylvester? You chicken, can’t take it? I seem to remember this quote from Rocky!

“The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t how hard you hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done.”

Well, regardless, the movie got the green light to start up in the Spring of 2010 and is slated for a 2011 release. And maybe, just maybe, there will be another course correction by Stallone and he will try to get Weird Al for the lead role to complete the epic Rambo parody that started in UHF!

La cuarta entrega del ex-boina verde John Rambo tuvo que esperar 18 años para hacerse realidad. Stallone siguiendo los pasos del éxito obtenido con Rocky Balboa nos trajo esta maravilloso film donde su trama no solo se enfoca en violencia cruda sino que también tiene un mensaje, debido a que el guion se centra en la guerra civil de Birmania poco conocida en el mundo y que  se ha extendido por mas de 60 años, mostrando la dura realidad que viven sus habitantes.

Escrita y dirigida por su actor principal Silvester Stallone, quien  logró recaudar mas de 110 millones de dólares en taquilla, una cifra bastante rentable teniendo en cuenta que se realizó con bajo presupuesto.

John Rambo es una excelente película bélica, que para muchos de nosotros nos sirve para reflexionar  en cuanto a  las guerras , que solo dejan muertes, desatres, pobreza, entre otras cosas, y revela ante los ojos del mundo la realidad que viven en Birmania.

If you were one of the people who dared to see Rambo IV you were treated to one of the most Brutal movies ever. It was literally one of the most ridiculous over the top movies I have ever seen. With that being said I fucking loved it. I don’t care if Sly’s career is over, I will continue to watch his movies. On that note, Rambo V has been officially green lit. The story thus far is going to be about how the US government is trying to create these super soldiers and OOPS they escape. Who else is going to save the day but Rambo? What excites me the most though is that if the recent trend continues this movie will possibly be one of the most brutal movies ever made.

How can you top 2.59 people killed per minute?!?!

Estaba yo viendo Rambo IV y topé con esta cagadilla. A lo mejor, si no hubiera sido por el cacho cinta aislante AZUL, ni me hubiera enterado, pero es algo cantoso. Por lo demás la peli esta entretenida y tal, super gore, lástima que Stallone este tan desmejorado

On się nie bawi… Coś jesteś agresywny? Kula w łeb. Masz inne zdanie? Kula w łeb parę minut później. Jesteś drażniącą przez cały film postacią? Kula pod koniec, na deser.

Człowiek z zasadami… Takich ludzi brakuje w dzisiejszym świecie. Ludzi z zasadami.

Herosów.

Ich całe życie przepełniały wydarzenia, które są marzeniem każdego. Kto w końcu nie chciałby umieć siłą samej dłoni zmiażdżyć w potrzebie czyjegoś gardła?

Albo rozwalić z ckm-u sto uzbrojonych osób?

Niestety… My, zwykli ludzie, nie możemy się mierzyć. Nie możemy się mierzyć z prawdziwą legendą.

No i te nazwisko! Genialne – jak najlepsza marka na świecie – jak BMW, Nokia, Coca-Cola. Wyobraźcie sobie, że macie na skrzynce pocztowej pordzewiałą tabliczkę z napisem “J. Rambo”. Szacunek na osiedlu…

Zresztą, to jedyna ikona filmu oprócz Rocky’ego [Rokiego], która doczekała się uwiecznienia jej imienia w psiej krwi. Ile to już Rokich i Ramb leży w polskiej ziemi, w kartonowych pudełkach…

Wyobrażacie sobie jakim trzeba być twardym, żeby pies mógł o sobie dumnie powiedzieć – “Jestem złym i groźnym psem. Jestem godzien, by nosić to imię.”?

John Rambo oprócz odpowiedniego nazwiska, ma też odpowiedni sposób rozwiązywania dylematów życiowych. Gadka ograniczona do minimum, tylko akcja. Lecz kiedy trzeba, potrafi też być głęboki: “Możesz żyć bez sensu, albo umrzeć z sensem”. Nareszcie przejrzałem na oczy… ;]

No ale wiadomo, “Rambo” to nie “Pianista”. Za grube ma palce i nie umie siedzieć cicho na strychu.

Mimo wszystko muszę powiedzieć, że cholera, co jak co, ale Rambo w części IV się już specjalnie nie namyślał – jednak rutyna robi już swoje.

Jedynka, wiadomo, film prawie filozoficzny. Dwójka, typowy film akcji. W trójce już zaczęły się te prawdziwe nadprzyrodzone moce, no i setki ofiar. A czwórka… Sylvester po prostu dał sobie spokój ze skromnością…

Być jak John Rambo – to musi być coś. Grecki kolos.

Niezapomniane przeżycia dla każdego mężczyzny. Wystarczy nie zwracać tylko uwagi na nic i podziwiać John’a w akcji. Tak grać może tylko zawodowiec. Każdy kadr to ikona. Nikt nie ma z nim szans i każdy to wie.

Chciałbym mieć takiego kumpla – w sumie można wtedy zadzierać z kim się chce – jest się nietykalnym. Takie nieformalne prawo międzynarodowe. Rambo cię lubi? Witamy w klubie nietykalnych.

Ile by mi to oszczędziło zdrowia w podstawówce…

No i wiadomo… Wchodzicie do baru z kolesiem, który ma łapę wielkości przeciętnego motocykla, porwaną przepoconą zieloną podkoszulkę, czarną poszarpaną opaskę na głowie i nóż myśliwski za pasem.

I jest znany z telewizji…

Nie przepuścilibyście w kolejce dwa razy większego człowieka, który na życie zarabia polując na kobry królewskie w dalekiej azjatyckiej dżungli, w kraju wojny domowej? Wykonuje tajne misje dla rządu? Nie? A takiego co pilotuje śmigłowiec, jednocześnie stojąc przy jego bocznych drzwiach i rozwalając z ckm-u dziesiątki żołnierzy wroga?

Swoją drogą, chciałbym takiego ministra polityki zagranicznej.

John Rambo – torrent

Quando Sylvester Stallone resolveu dar um capítulo final à saga de Rocky em 2006, lançando Rocky Balboa, confesso que fiquei temeroso. Não pelo fato de os filmes anteriores serem exatamente ruins, mas justamente porque a cada novo capítulo do boxeador ítalo-americano, o nível de qualidade despencava notavelmente. Para minha surpresa, no entanto, Rocky Balboa se mostrou quem sabe o segundo melhor filme da franquia, sendo justamente o que mais se aproxima ao o original (Rocky – Um Lutador, Oscar de Melhor Filme de 1977) mostrando mais o lado humano de Balboa ao invés de lutas com rounds infindáveis.

Stallone parece ter gostado da idéia de “ressucitar” seus ícones, talvez pelo fato de Rocky Balboa ter feito razoável sucesso de crítica e público. Sly parece ter ficado auto-confiante e se encarregou de dirigir e protagonizar (por óbvio) o quarto capítulo da saga de Rambo. Infelizmente o raio não caiu duas vezes no mesmo lugar.

John Rambo que agora encontra-se aposentado, vive “escondido” numa floresta situada na Birmânia, onde basicamente se ocupa de caçar cobras para rinhas (!). Numa dessas tardes, após entregar uma das cobras, ele recebe a visita de um grupo de ativistas que pretendem alugar o seu barco para subir até uma área em guerra, ou melhor, em genocídio. Rambo, a muito custo, aceita a tal proposta e leva o grupo até seu destino (eles vão para medicar os desalentados). Ao se passarem dez dias, ele recebe a visita de um pastor, dizendo da incomunicabilidade com o grupo e pedindo para que Rambo carregue uma espécie de trupe de mercenários para que os mesmos resgatem os tais ativistas e os tragam sãos e salvos.

Rambo desembarca junto com o grupo e segue seu próprio rumo na busca pelos sobreviventes ao seu melhor estilo. Stallone opta por não desenvolver os personagens, apenas utiliza-se de arquétipos bastante conhecidos no cinema – sobretudo de ação – para criar cenas violentíssimas e mostrar do que John Rambo é capaz. Ou seja, a trama é mera desculpa pra as cabeças rolarem, ou melhor, explodirem e serem arrancadas.

Particularmente, me diverti com o filme em alguns trechos. Não sei se Sly levou seu longa a sério. Caso não o tenha feito, acabou realizando uma pequena obra-prima do cinema de ação/comédia, do contrário, fez então uma pequena obra-prima de ação/comédia-involuntária. O filme conta com clichês e mortes a cada frame. Toda vez que Rambo surge em cena, temos uma trilha que se eleva, exaltando a presença do herói. Toda vez que Rambo abre a boca, é pra falar uma frase de “efeito” – “Live for nothing or die for something” – é o exemplo mais claro dessa afirmação, confesso que não segurei o riso ao ouvir isso.

No mais o filme parece um vídeo-game de tiro, cabeças voando, pernas arrancadas, árvores sendo derrubadas a esmo. Diria que Rambo IV é uma espécie de Planeta Terror (Robert Rodriguez) sem zumbis e que se leva a sério, infelizmente.

Ele é sério, de poucas palavras, bem violento quando se metem no seu caminho, usa faca, arco e flecha e o que mais estiver a mão para derrubar seus oponentes, usa faixa na cabeça pra fazer um estilo e mata, e como mata! Aliás, ele é John Rambo.

Rambo IV (EUA, 2008), o mais recente filme da franquia estrelada por Michael Sylvester Gardênzio Stallone ou simplesmente, Sylvester Stallone, ou só Sly para os mais chegados, está em cartaz nas melhores salas de cinema do país. Dirigido pelo próprio, assim como fez ano passado com Rock. Juntos com Sly no elenco estão Julie Benz, Matthew Marsden, Graham McTavish e Reynaldo Gallegos.

Essa nova seqüência se aproxima mais da linha do segundo e terceiro filme. Explora apenas a violência, longe da metáfora para os problemas sociais recorrentes da guerra, abordados no primeiro longa metragem de 1982. Mas calma, os fãs do icônico personagem irão amar a película, mesmo com um roteiro fraco e que às vezes tenta nos empurrar um discurso com mais “profundidade”. Pô, fala sério… Ele é o Rambo. Você esperava o quê? Diálogos à la Charlie Kaufman?

Se você gostou do terceiro filme, não se preocupe que irá gostar desse. Explosões e um número considerável de corpos espalhados pelo chão, sem contar o sadismo, estão presentes em Rambo IV para alegria dos fãs.

A história se passa na Tailândia. Rambo vive de pilotar um barco na fronteira com a Birmânia, onde rola uma guerra civil que já dura alguns anos. John Rambo leva uma vida tranqüila, na dele, sem se meter em conflito algum e eis que de repente um grupo de missionários de direitos humanos o procura pedindo ajuda. O tal grupo é seqüestrado, ele evita o quanto pode a se envolver nessa parada, mas ele não resiste e parte para a zona de combate. Afinal, ele é o Rambo né? O cara sabe o que fazer. Ele é programado para matar, lembram?

Daí por diante é só “diversão”. Esse é o filme mais sangrento da saga. As cenas de ação são muito bem feitas e os apreciadores do gênero irão até mesmo se emocionar com esse provável cantos dos cisnes do personagem.

I maestri di danza, ad “Amici”, sono sul piede di guerra: Garrison ha lasciato il suo contegno da tortellino per indossare una tuta mimetica, che tra l’altro gli sta anche bene; Maura ha un coltello tra i denti e assomiglia alla versione hip hop di Rambo IV la vendetta in pensione; la Celentano, che peraltro è sempre cattiva (se lo dice anche da sola, tra l’altro), s’è messa su una lorica con l’elmo piumato e va in giro con l’alabarda spaziale, tipo Goldrake romano, che tra l’altro le riesce pure bene, visto che sembra la generalessa in vacanza con la classe di scienze; infine, Steve (oh my God!) s’è tatuato sul corpo: “vae victis” e va in giro mostrandosi come mamma l’ha fatto, armato di coltello e copricapo gallico (come Asterix è pure sexy).

Questo incredibile apparato militare, che neppure Bush durante la seconda guerra del Golfo, è motivato dalla presenza nella scuola di due residui bellici, di due evacuati dal Bronx, di due disgraziati che il mondo appuzzano: Domenico e Daniela.

Quei due lì (ballerini sembra troppo) sono, a detta dei quattro guerrieri dell’Apocalisse, la quintessenza del male, il nemico assoluto, il segno della fine del mondo. Ah, poveri noi! Vade retro, Primotici! Vade retro, Stradaioli! Chi vi ha fatto venire in televisione! Chi vi ha consentito di turbare i nostri sonni! Chi ha potuto, ahinoi, darvi tanto ardire!

Se queste non fossero domande retoriche, si potrebbe rispondere: Garrison e Steve. Accidentaccio! Ma sono proprio due degli spaventosi guerrieri dell’Apocalisse i quali ora stanno tormentando i due demoniacci della danza trash!

Qualche volta, guardando gli atteggiamenti teatrali della commissione docente di “Amici”, viene da chiedersi, in effetti, se ci fanno o ci sono. Nel caso di qualcuno, sinceramente, si è anche andati oltre questa domanda – si è praticamente sicuri. Ma stavolta la domanda è un’altra: non hanno, almeno una volta nella loro vita, almeno tangenzialmente, almeno en passant, un po’ di sana vergogna per quello che decidono, dicono, fanno, disdicono, disfanno?

Domenico e Daniela, lungi dall’essere il diavolo incarnato, sono solo due ragazzi assurti a simbolo: simbolo di una protervia che pensa di innalzare (“Domenico è il migliore ballerino della scuola”, “Non darò la maglia a nessuno, perché se la merita Domenico”) e poi di infangare nel giro di dodici secondi, senza nessuna coerenza, senza nessuno stile.

Non esistono solo i bravi ballerini a questo mondo, né esistono solo i bravi ragazzi. Un insegnante quasi mai può scegliersi gli allievi con cui lavorare: è il destino che glieli affida e lui non può fare altro che combattere per renderli migliori. Gli insegnanti di “Amici”, invece, possono decidere chi fare entrare a scuola e chi lasciare fuori: fa specie che, una volta che li han fatti entrare, si contraddicano talmente da tornare sui propri passi, senza difendere le scelte di cui sono i soli responsabili.

Fa ancora più specie che, con nuova protervia, si insista a deplorare il fatto che questi due allievi siano passati al serale, quando la decisione non spetta a loro, ma a chi telefona da casa. Domenico è decimo, Daniela è quattordicesima. L’ha deciso il pubblico, non la Gestapo, non la massoneria, non Al Qaeda.

Tanto dovrebbe bastare a gente la cui vita dipende dal pubblico e solo dal pubblico.

Rambo IV is the fourth is a series of films that all have the same name and all feature Sylvester Stallone doing his best at shooting big guns, blowing up bombs and killing lots of people.

This time Rambo starts off in Thailand where he lives before being persuaded to take a group of mercenaries into Burma (not a good move unless looking for trouble). The Burmese civil war obviously makes the country a very dangerous place which the whole cast find out after they get kidnapped for helping a group of villagers (surprised?). Finding out that the group have disappeared, Rambo sets out to find them (instead of leaving them to it like most people would).

Not for the faint hearted because the blood and guts are very vivid, look very real and make the film quite disturbing in some parts. There is an almost 3D feel to it in parts. The way the Burmese torture their own people is also shown in the film and is quite horrifying to watch.

As I was one of three girls (yes, only three…surprisingly) in the whole cinema, I’m guessing it’s more of a man film!

Oh, and has anyone thought of telling him he is too old to be an action hero? Please, Sly, just retire.
