Hongkong Disneyland 2009

It was in the year 2009 when I finally experienced the happiest place on earth. Hong Kond Disneyland was like a dream and as promised, it brought me back to my childhood. I went to HK with my family (my mom, my Tita Alice and my sister, She). I didn’t know what to expect, at this time… I was a novice traveller and did not research much. But I thought that was the best way to experience Disney for the first time – to be caught off guard is part of the thrill and the magic. I remember riding the “It’s a Small World” ride in awe and with goosebumps in my arm. And I thought the Lion King show was the best 30-minutes of our entire trip. We were in the Disney Resort for 2 days and we managed to experience all of it’s attraction: we went to Tarzan’s Tree House, rode the Space Shuttle and rode in the Winnie the Pooh ride.

And as you can imagine, my family enjoyed the park so much. My Inay and Tita gamely did all the rides with us too with no reservation.

And to fully experience the magic, I even managed to book us in one of the resort’s Disney Hotels. The room was spacious clean and majestic. Everyone was in awe at the details and mickey touch all over the place. It’s a little bit expensive but at that time, I didn’t even think about the charges. I was looking at everyone’s face and seeing that it was all worth it.

This is a random iPhone snap of dinner. The veggies are all from the Culinarium, delicious, organic, and part of a food share program. All locally sourced except for the apples which grew somewhere in Ontario but sat patiently in my grocery store until I rescued them. They repaid the favour by jumping into a pan with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and ginger…with a pinch of salt which I hand harvested from the Red Sea….nawwww, kidding about that last part.

Anyway, dinner, really just an excuse to take a snap – it was yummy, even the dastardly cauliflower.
