Being a fan I had to post something and I just love these webcam sessions from season 2 extras.

Una vita dedicata al wrestling, alla lotta coreografica, fisica, dura ma anche leale. Il tempo però passa e le luci del successo, si affievoliscono, lasciando emergere le fragilità, gli egoismi passati tutto a discapito delle relazioni umane, soprattutto con i rapporti più delicati, in questo caso con la propria famiglia.

Il film di Darren Aronofsky, piantona il suo protagonista Randy, il nome d’arte usato nel mondo del wrestling, Robin (un nome poco accettato) per la vita normale, una realtà distante soprattutto perché il nostro Wrestler non ci si rispecchia. Tenta in tanti modi un compromesso, sente di essere solo (un infarto gli da la forza di cercare un cambiamento), tenta di riavvicinarsi alla figlia, dal carattere duro, rancoroso, perché in passato l’uomo ha fatto un’unica scelta (il palcoscenico). Randy però non si accontenta, vuole (senza pretendere, in un primo momento) il contatto di un’altra donna (sente di poter dare amore a una donna che lavora in un locale lap dancer), lei (una splendida Marisa Tomei) in discesa (i clienti la evitano, perchè non proprio giovanissima) con un figlio a carico, lo allontana pur provando un sentimento. Queste esistenze, così fragili, si toccano, si respingono, si illudono di aver riscoperto qualcosa di nuovo, ma inesorabilmente, non stanno incarnando il loro vero essere, così Randy, dopo aver accettato di abbandonare definitivamente il wrestling (stiamo comunque parlando di eventi occasionali, per nostalgici, non a grandi livelli), accetta di lavorare a un bancone di un supermercato (l’ingresso in sala, girato come se fosse pronto per un nuovo combattimento è magnifico), lì gli avversari sono altri, reincarnate da una vecchietta rompiscatole.  Quel tipo di lavoro non lo rispecchia, di nuovo, la realtà è amara. E per fuggire o per combattere da un nemico fortissimo  il vecchio Randy (il wrestler) colui che non può essere sconfitto, per lo meno sul ring, decide che la sua vita è quel mestiere e non può rinunciarci.

Il film è davvero emozionante, strappa anche qualche lacrimuccia, pur non essendo proprio perfetto (per fortuna). Ho trovato il secondo scontro con la figlia tirato un pò via, troppo strillato, ma rientra comunque nella fragilità di quella bambina cresciuta da sola, senza il supporto del padre.

Mickey Rourke è magnifico, recitazione fisica, il respiro affannoso, quella dialettica e quel portamento sono tutti elementi che arricchiscono il personaggio Randy (ma non solo, c’è proprio Rourke lì dietro), l’empatia con lui è forte, fino alla fine, fino a quell’ultimo salto.

I am writing to express my outrage. Recently a good friend of mine broke down and confessed to me the torture she experienced at the hands of Randy Price of Sweet Entertainment and Diverse Talent in Vancouver BC. Simply put, she was cooerced and coned and tricked into signing a consent form BEFORE the torture. Why not sign a consent form before AND after if their practices are little more than “theatrics” as claimed by the defense lawyer Kent Snowsell (appropriate last name for this sell job The Honourable Judge R.R. Low obviously received).  Sadly my friend just heard about this court case that took place in 2002. My friends ordeal is still going on today. The pain of humiliation and degradation she sufferred at the hands of four men. Randy Price, Stephen Lyons, Reyfenel Damasco (Ray Ray) and Geoff Baker (aka Tom Sweet) lied and deceived and commited acts of torture on a young, barely legal lady.

How dare the “Honourable Justice” R. R. Low claim that the violence and humiliation suffered by these women at the hands of these four men be deemed “tolerant”.

In this article you will read about this company Sweet Entertainment Group headed by Randy Price dehumanizing and torturing women. They will claim its within the standards of BDSM play but I beg to differ. My friend was pushed into cooperating or else. How confident would you feel thinking you were signing up for something “normal” and being NAKED in a room with 4 adult men. Where can you hide your bear spray to prevent attack…or hide a key to jab someone with in self defence. I don’t know about the rest of you…but if I were standing naked in a room with 4 men…I wouldn’t have much ability to object either.

This case was a new benchmark in obsence. We must express our outrage…how dare these people judge what is decent by COMPARING IT TO HOLLYWOOD MOVIES LIKE AMERICAN PSYCHO ETC.  Newsflash for you ”Honourable Justice” R.R.Low…HOLLYWOOD IS MAKE BELIEVE! When people are electrocuted, poked, prodded, pee’d on and in, beaten and whipped….THE MOANS AND CRYING AND PAIN IS REAL. I wonder if the “Honourable Justice” R. R. Low would  take offence if I shot someone….that happens in Hollywood  TOO. If I was holding a cam corder and had my murder victim “sign” a waiver prior to my shooting them…would I too be able to change the standards of decency and set a new precedent.

now i’m going to bed, i had planned to run wind sprints but its 45 degrees outside so i figured it might not be good for my cold, so will do it tomorrow as part of my plan to workout 2 times (AM and PM)

oh and i watched UFC tonight, pretty good card, i think Randy won…but it was close.

Tocmai am terminat una dintre cele mai bune carti pe care le-am citit. F buna. Randy Pausch are o perceptie asupra vietii, si este optimist, pana in ultima clipa de viata. A stiut sa se bucure de viata, a stiut cum sa se bucure de putinul timp ramas, a stiut sa isi aminteasca de persoanele care l-au ajutat in viata, a stiut sa multumeasca, sa rada, si zambeasca, sa fie recunoscator pentru putinul timp care i-a mai ramas. O adevarata lectie de viata, o carte care te pune pe ganduri. Cel putin, pe mine m-a pus putin pe ganduri.

this is actually going to be weak sauce because i have lots to accomplish and little time to accomplish it in.. but i couldn’t miss out on flashback friday

meal 1: oikos+chocolate PB2+chocolate fig vitatop

as you can see, i am classy and ate it right out of the container with a plastic spoon. and at my desk. this was my only option as i have never been so slammed in my life (TWSS).

mmmm.. i love PB2! and chocolate PB2. it is the best thing to happen to yogurt since cinnamon.  speaking of yogurt, have you entered my oikos giveaway? you have until midnight!

meal 2: turkey & avocado on wheat

i was going to make my own lunch but when the boss offered to buy me lunch AND fill my gas tank up on the way to pick lunch up.. i couldn’t say no!  thanks boss.  i think he feels bad because i worked almost 10 hours of over time this week.

mmmm.. pepperjack and mustard.

after work it was straight to the dentist and the whole right side of my face is numb! gah! it sucks. i am drooling and slurping and i look silly when i talk.  a crown cracked (don’t know how) and so they had to take it off so it can be replaced.  i usually LOVE the dentist because i love getting my teeth cleaned.. but i hate it when i have to get shots in my mouth. i hate shots with a passion and i think ones to the mouth have to be the absolute worst ever.

i am going to a girl’s dinner tonight so that is about it for food photos! sorry charlies.  i will have more tomorrow, promise.  and i plan on spending a fair amount of time at the gym tomorrow, i am extra excited for that. craving some weight training like nobody’s business!

flashback friday!!

i wasn’t sure what to do for this week’s flashback so i dug into the archives and check out what was going on around this day last year.  then i knew what i had to flash back to: the bite.

it was november ninth 2008.  i remember it clear as a bell. hmm, well, wait.. that simile is used more when you hear something. okay, scratch that whole clear as a bell business and just know that i remember it real, real well and that says a lot considering i have the memory of a goldfish.

marshall, randy, penny and i were hanging out at marshall’s casa.  i had only had penny for a couple weeks!  she was so little and perfect.

the kids, as we call them, got some rawhide bones from nana sue aka my mom.  i decided to give them each a rawhide.  totally normal idea, that is what dogs do.. chew bones.

marshall and i were sitting on the couch and the kids were in the kitchen devouring their treats.  then i heard the most heart-wrenching, blood-curdling, incredibly sad yelp ever!

penny came running.. and her face was gushing blood.  um. yeah. randy bit her. not just any part of her.. but her face. right between the eyes.

i burst into tears. randy got yelled at. penelope was scared for her life. i was scared for her life.  it was a sunday night.. definitely couldn’t rush her to the vet.  the blood was pouring from her poor little face like a fountain.  i was in hysterics.

we got some camera phone photos right after “the incident”…

her face was SO SWOLLEN she looked like a bull terrier from the side! and she was so sad. and so was i.

apparently what happened is randy gobbled up his rawhide and then went after penny’s.  when she didn’t let him have it.. he let HER have it. chomp to the face.

we were all freaking out and i went downstairs with penny and was bawling.  i kept saying “HER FACE! HER PERFECT LITTLE FACE!” i remember that marshall’s roommate alex thought i was crying because she would have a scar.. and he asked marshall if i was going to keep penny or give her away now that her face would have a scar. hahah ummm.. wow. he was serious too. of course i wouldn’t give her away! i would just have to start calling her scarface

penny was standoffish and wouldn’t lay by me after this happened. i was devastated because i thought she though i had hurt her.  it was strange because once we let randy back inside after yelling at him, she totally changed and became happy again. she was just missing her brother!

this was the same night.. best friends again!

poor little bean!

i took her to the vet the next day and $180 later she was good to go. this was her a couple days later. it looked pretty bad for awhile!

we just decided the two of them could not have bones or rawhides around each other anymore.  they share a food dish and that was fine. we are still not sure why randy lashed out! i am just so glad they get along. actually, they are inseparable! this was them last night.. with matching thanksgiving bandanas my mom got them

        In May 2007, the National Endowment for the Arts invited the Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance to tackle a community-focused project.   The Alliance would receive a grant through the “Challenge America: Reaching Every Community Invitational Initiative.”
 
      SAACA decided to use the NEA grant to publish a book about public art in Oro Valley.
 
      In 1997, the town established a 1% for Public Art Program, which requires that commercial developers set aside one percent of a project’s total budget for the creation of public art.   By passing the public art mandate, Oro Valley signaled an ongoing commitment to create beautiful surroundings and enhance the quality of life for all who live or work in the town.
 
     This book – “Excellence by Design: A Visual History of Public Art in Oro Valley, Arizona” – represents the first-ever effort to catalogue the town’s public art.
 
     The book has included biographical information about the artists and artists’ personal statements about their work (wherever possible) as well as the location of each work.   This volume also features artwork at Oro Valley’s town government campus, various roadway art displays and several projects completed under the auspices of the Pima Association of Governments Transportation Art by Youth Program.
 
      In all, artists have created more than 100 unique works of art in the dozen years since Oro Valley adopted its public-art mandate.
 
      In addition to thanking the NEA for its support of this project, SAACA also would like to acknowledge the financial contributions of Rancho Vistoso Development (Stone Canyon), sanofi-aventis U.S., Oro Valley Hospital, the Bruce T. Halle Foundation, First National Bank of Arizona and the WLB Group.
 
      Gail Munden – an artist, Oro Valley resident, and SAACA board member – spent the last two years living and breathing this project.   She photographed most of the art depicted in these pages, contacted the artists and was responsible for the overall layout and design of this book.   For her work, SAACA is eternally grateful.

As zoologists, we have a fascination with eye-fucking. And apparently, so do the animals. However, there is a right and wrong way to eye-fuck. To start, you never, ever initiate hard-core contact when first beginning an eye-fuck tete-a-tete. When you see a potential eye-fuck buddy, start off with a few sideways glances. Keep the glances to a minimum to start with, so that the target does not become sketched out. If you can sense that the target is looking your way, and you’re feeling a little naughty, catch the target’s eye, while maintaining a slightly dirty mind-set so that the look is sexy as hell. Make the eye lock brief. This will leave the target engaged and wanting more. When you, or the target, exits the area, I suggest using the hard-to-get method and not make any eye contact. This will make the target believe that they are on the chase.

Now, the next time you see the target you can initiate eye-fucking. You have managed to draw the target into the chase, so he will be more likely to glance your way on more than one occasion. To tempt the target, and to get his gears grinding, you may want to start with a look from under your eyelashes. This is a very cheeky move that will leave a little something for the target’s imagination. After the first glance, instead of brief and indirect glances, you can let your eye locks linger.

You will now be able to successfully entice your target. He can now be your eye-fuck buddy. Here are some moves to try out. Eye Brow Movement: Eye brow movement is comparable to the pelvic thrust. By adding a little brow movement, you manage to send many sexual signals to your eye-fuck buddy. By raising one eye brow you are asking a suggestive question. This is like saying, “Should I get out the lube?” or “Wanna get naked?” By raising both eye-brows twice, in a quick succession you are making a sly statement, such as “I know what’s under those worn in jeans” or “I can do nasty, awful things to you.” The Wink: If your feeling really bold and randy you can try a wink. I would suggest practicing this first. This is an advanced move that must first be perfected. Many people have trouble winking. When they attempt to wink they focus all there attention on only closing one eye and forget what the rest of their face looks like. So practice in a mirror first. Then you can practice on some dweeby boys that don’t stand a chance with you.

I’ve just come back from watching, ‘This Is It’, and it was incredible. The trailer does not do it justice.

Michael Jackson is so on point in the film; his singing, his dancing and just general being is extraordinary in every single way. Although at times I felt sad watching it – I can’t believe he’s really gone – I could not help but smile and be happy seeing him rock out on stage one more time.

The stars came out in force for the THIS IS IT premieres in L.A. and London last night.

Jermaine, Randy, Tito and Marlon Jackson arrive at the Nokia Theatre for the LA screening. Below: Mekia Cox (principal dancer for ‘This Is It’), Travis Payne (‘This Is It’ choreographer) and Vivica A. Fox.

Across the pond saw Mel B and her husband Stephen Belafonte attend the London premiere, as well as singer Keisha Buchanan and Passion Pit.

HBO boxing commentator Larry Merchant has referred to Joe Frazier as a “truth machine,” because when a boxer stepped into the ring with Joe Frazier, Frazier exposed the truth about him – his boxing ability and his character.  In the world of mixed martial arts, Randy Couture is the truth machine.  Couture will face Brandon “The Truth” Vera on November 14, at UFC 105, where Vera’s moniker will be put to the test.

Brandon Vera was the WEC heavyweight champion before entering the UFC’s heavyweight division in October of 2005.  In Vera’s fourth UFC fight, he had the biggest win of his career – a first round technical knockout victory over former UFC heavyweight champion, Frank Mir.  After his dominate performance against Mir, many began to see Brandon Vera as the heir apparent to the UFC’s heavyweight throne.  Vera then suffered a setback; he lost his next two fights – to Tim Sylvia (by unanimous decision) and Fabricio Werdum (by TKO).  After making a move to the UFC’s light heavyweight division, Vera had two lackluster performances.  Since then, Brandon Vera has looked more like “The Truth.” Vera’s last two wins have been in outstanding performances against Mike Patt (TKO) and Krzysztof Soszynski (unanimous decision).  Brandon Vera could be a future UFC light heavyweight champion, or he could be relegated to gatekeeper status.  The truth will be known on November 14.
