Причина:

IBM Rational Method Composer 7.2 поставляется с временной лицензией, срок действия которой до 31 декабря 2008.

Решение:

На время установки IBM Rational Method Composer 7.2 перевести системное время на дату до 31 декабря 2008.

Apologies if this is a repeat grumble, but every time I export an EAR file from RSA the dialog box annoys me. Well, that’s a bit unfair, it’s not the whole dialog box, just one very pointless checkbox on it…

So the first time I attempt to export to a destination which already exists, I get a helpful error preventing me doing something potentially stupid. When I know that I’m just re-exporting the same EAR and I’m happy to just overwrite the old one (which probably wasn’t working because I forgot to include something important) I just need to check the “Overwrite existing file” box to make the error go away and I can hit finish. Lovely… except that the dialog remembers this option next time I come to do an export! Basically it may as well not exist after the first export.

It’s actually a bit of a love hate relationship with this little checkbox though, because if it always defaulted to unchecked I think I’d much prefer it to having a dialog popping up asking whether I want to overwrite an existing file. Oh well, almost useful.

Anyway, it’s Friday and time to go home; check.

Managing project is an art.  Especially when it comes to development.  It is an orchestration of various application lifecycle tasks, resources, risks and time.  Doing a task is much different from getting it done.  The challenges are much more on distributed team.

Requirements: A very important part of the software development life cycle.  Understanding them, defining them, making it unambiguous and managing them are very crucial for the success of any project.  In a collaborative development environment, getting a common understanding about requirements is very important.

IBM has just launched Rational Requirements Composer 2.0.  A very powerful tools on the Jazz platform, to define your requirements properly.

Managing heterogeneous application on both SAP and non-SAP world is a complex task.  On a distributed platform, things are still more difficult.  Collaboration is the only way to reduce the complexity.

In this regard, SAP and IBM has signed a cooperative agreement to extend integration between IBM Rational software delivery platform with SAP’s application life cycle management solution.  Now we can work on with IBM Rational’s requirement definition & management, quality and change management solutions with SAP and non-SAP environments.  This provides an excellent automation scenario.  Also results in an excellent traceability for SAP requirement process and assets. Today is the 150th anniversary of the publication of The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin. This revolutionary work changed how we humans see the world (at least it changed some of us) and formed the foundation for modern biology. One must also not forget Alfred Russel Wallace who also came up with the idea of natural selection, and essentially is forgotten. But Darwin wrote the book, so he gets the credit today.

If you have not read it, give it a shot. I recommend the first edition, and be wary of the free copies handed out on some university campuses in the past few weeks. There is one group handing out copies that have certain key chapters removed .

So here is to Origin and all of the fun, games, discussions, court cases and deeper understanding of the universe and our place in it that it has resulted in!

Lonely

Unfortunately I have seen this logical fallacy used on both sides of the skeptic/believer debate. It occurs when ridicule or mockery is used in place of evidence in an “argument”.

As usual I will substitute the X’s for something cute and fuzzy.

The Appeal to Ridicule has the following format where X equals puppies:

1) Puppies (X), as some form of mockery, is aimed at the claim (C).

2) Therefor Claim (C) is false.

This sort of “argument” is fallacious because ridiculing a claim is not provable evidence that said claim is actually false. An obvious example would look like this “1+1=2?? That’s the most patently ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard!”

This argument is of course based in the idea that we are working with a Base 10 system of counting.

I have heard this fallacy used as an argument so many times even in my own household. A real world example looks like this:

“Evolution is absurd! I’ve never heard of a monkey giving birth to a human!”

The ridicule here occurs in both the use of the word ‘absurd’ and the dismissiveness of the concept of human evolution as a whole.  Usually that argument is made by Creationists who simply have not educated themselves or have chosen not to be educated on the current theory of evolution.

Another form of this argument is “reductio ad absurdum” or “reducing to absurdity”. This site http://bit.ly/2×6CEY has an excellent example of it. I’ll quote it here:

One form of this line of reasoning is known as a “reductio ad absurdum” (“reducing to absurdity”). In this sort of argument, the idea is to show that a contradiction (a statement that must be false) or an absurd result follows from a claim. For example: “Bill claims that a member of a minority group cannot be a racist. However, this is absurd. Think about this: white males are a minority in the world. Given Bill’s claim, it would follow that no white males could be racists. Hence, the Klan, Nazis, and white supremists are not racist organizations.”

Since the claim that the Klan, Nazis, and white supremists are not racist organizations is clearly absurd, it can be concluded that the claim that a member of a minority cannot be a racist is false.

The speed at which software is getting developed has increased, the same way the problems too.  One side “Speed”, on the other hand “Quality”.  To find an optimum balance, it is very tough.

Today is the day of “agile” development.  When you really embrace the agile methodology, you have to do a no of small releases.  Things are getting much more complex when it happens in a distributed development environment.  Enforcing coding standards and conducting a peer reviews before code submission for build generation, are the options to make sure the code quality.  Static analysis methods and automation tools are available for this.  Many a times you have to follow the tool, rather the tool follows your process or there is a facility to customize the process.

The human species needs a dramatic change in its ways, the separation, the borders, the politics, the religions, all needs to be gone. Our very existence is amazingly unusual in the universe and we must not spend valuable time on issues that ultimately might lead to our destruction.

Looking back into history, there is only one reason for all wars, no matter how big or how small. It has always been the same from probably the moment the very first human fought the second to the First World War, down to the USA invading Iraq, all wars and quarrels were over a matter of simple control.

Control has had many different forms in our history, for example, the Roman Empire, which saw control in territory and the dominating of other peoples with its military, or Adolf Hitler, in search of his White Power, in a purist control, the Cold War, military control. Think of all the conflicts in the Middle East, shootings over borders, fighting over oil. ALL of those in search of control over some kind of thing.

Aside the dominance trait inherited by most male complex creatures, power has been that one thing for which most major conflicts since the industrial revolution, or maybe even further, were fought.

In the early days of mankind, any conflicts must have been for either farming or hunting grounds, in which civilization eventually formed, with technology at its beginning, more people meant more grounds in which to find or grow food. This pattern was more or less followed throughout history until more elaborate agriculture techniques came to be.

If the basic need for food is provided, mankind can survive, however, the search for ever growing amounts of control has taken us in a surch for its ultimate form: energy.

Society has extracted energy from nature since its dawn, either in the form of heat, electricity or explosions, energy is our most necessary commodity, our ultimate need. Humanity fights over energy, that would not happen if there was enough cheap power for all.

During the Second World War, Albert Einstein hypothesised that matter was made of energy. His Relativity Theory combined with others’ works made it possible for civilization to extract the energy not from objects, but from matter itself.

The power within atoms is incredible; however we can only use a very small portion of it to produce energy. The highly inefficient process that takes place in nuclear reactors around the world does not use the energy from the atom directly but a transformed form of the energy produced through nuclear decay.

Another way to use the power of nuclear reactions is the Sun. It gives the planet energy from fission for free in the form of heat and light, which allows for photosynthesis and is therefore responsible for life in this planet. All our power sources with the exception of geodesic heat come indirectly from the Sun. The power of the nucleus gives us life.

If the incredible amount of power in the nucleus can be harnessed through means more effective than those of a nuclear reactor, we would make war obsolete. With free power all but manual labor would have to be priced, factories would not pay the state for power, we would not waste areas in which food can be grown to dam rivers for power plants, fields can be digital now, our technology allows it. If there is energy for all, electronic goods would be cheaper, connectivity would be cheaper, we would not need to pay to learn, to share, to connect, to finally evolve.

With access to comprehensive information through our already established Internet, literacy rates go up and society is able to contribute and create as a whole. Continuing to waste money in war over non-renewable forms of energy will only make our short reserves burn out faster, but it will ultimately lead to extinction.

For now, we can maintain ourselves that way, but we will not be able to do that for much longer. If we could all live in peace, resources would be relocated to where they are needed, not only to look for this form of energy, but all kinds of research, all kinds of development, free power would redefine classes, it would redefine society.

We can continue to waste resources on fighting, or we can share, we can talk, we can improve science, we can improve life, we can improve humanity.

This manifest is not about a new energy form, it is about the search for it. Humanity has found its goal, its ultimate need. We need energy to evolve, we need energy to grow. The revolution here would not benefit one society, or governments or any movements, it would benefit us, the human species.

What is proposed here is an alternative: even though we are different, black, white, Asian, Middle Eastern, Latino, or Pagans, Catholics, Jews, Muslims, we are here together, one planet into a space we do not even understand.

Even creationists believe we have been created one: Sons of the same. The alternative here involves a leap of faith, abandoning all war now, putting down arms and joining in search of one common goal, to have more time. More time also to perpetuate and refine religious beliefs.

Human race evolved, differentiated, we have developed thought, abstraction. Our next step in evolution might be not as a new individual, but as a society: from one, to camp, to village, to city, to country, to planet. One complex species sharing a home we are at peace with.Violence has always been useless.

By focusing on one common global goal, with trust, we can set aside our differences completely for long enough to transcend, not in life, but in mind. One society.

Collaboration is the key to open the door of knowledge.

In society and peace lies the ability to understand.

Understanding is rational power, humanity’s power.

The one true power. The rest is History.

Have you ever heard or have you ever eaten a Butter Chicken worth Rs 6000…..well what I have heard is in ‘Taj Presidency’ where the 26/11 attack took place last year they serve butter chicken worth ‘Rs 6000′….and the best part is people still order it…..hahaha….no I know that people who could afford it like top Professionals, Personalities, etc etc….can say “Rs 6000 Butter Chicken ya so what’s the big deal”…well I say that “Sir/Madam there is no big deal as you earn that much but is it worth Rs 6000″…well people who had an experience eating that butter chicken said “it’s worth every Penny”….well I or most middle class or for that matter any Rational Human – Being would say ” Rs 6000 Butter Chicken then how much is the glass of water for”…

I mean come on guys think for yourself why would anyone eat such an expensive food item eitheir want to sh or….ya I think that’s the only 1 thing I can think of right now….Well we can’t blame the Hotel also they have to price their food items according to their hotel image…Well in the end I would say “In other hotels they serve chicken pieces with Butter Chicken but what pieces do they serve in Taj hmmm let’s say gold Chicken pieces with moulded silver gravy for rs 6000 or it is just the same Chicken what you get outside…..”

Долго разрабатывали наше решение, но в итоге что-то получилось.  Смогли избавиться от недостатков с точки зрения проектного управления в ClearQuest. Ранее в блоге я писал уже о возможностях нашей новой “игрушки”.

Сейчас проводим дополнительное тестирование, в том числе на платформе Unix. В принципе, все, что получается, мне нравится и вызывает интерес у посетителей сайта.

Наша компания ведет разработку модуля, который направлен на то, чтоб сделать проще планирование в системе IBM Rational ClearQuest и при этом не прибегать к использованию сторонних продуктов (интеграция с MS Project и т.д.).
