La base de mi investigación consistió en la teoría que siempre hay dos caras de la moneda para cada situación.

Cuando se habla de la familia Castro lo primero que se viene a la mente a la mayoría de las personas es un violento rechazo hacia Fidel Castro y por tanto a todo lo que lo rodea.

Fidel Castro es una figura conocida internacionalmente es por ellos que las personas no piensan en otra persona que no sea él, incluso ahora que se encuentra a carga su hermano Raúl Castro, siguen surgiendo las comparaciones y el relacionarlo para ser escuchado.

Para llegar a punto que quiero transmitir repasare las características que han hecho de Fidel unos de los personajes mas despreciados por algunos y mas alabados por sus seguidores del Siglo XXI.

Castro fue mandatario de Cuba, bajo los cargos de primer ministro. Actualmente ejerce como primer secretario del Partido Comunista de Cuba y como comandante en jefe de las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Cuba. Es, además, uno de los condecorados por la Unión Soviética con la Orden de Lenin.

A causa de su larga gestión y a las características controvertidas de sus políticas, se ha generado un polémico debate entre opositores y partidarios sobre su gobierno. Aún no deciden si su gestión fue una dictadura o una voluntad del pueblo.

Creó un programa de desarrollo y de eliminación de la desigualdad social, así como su oposición frontal al modelo de política internacional liderada por Estados Unidos de America, también ha nacionalizado empresas privadas, centralizado la economía, creó la reforma agraria y hacer la campaña de alfabetización que redujo el analfabetismo.

Ahora lo sucede Raúl Castro, el más joven de los tres hermanos Castro. De joven era un comunista convencido y se unió a la Juventud Socialista, afiliada al Partido Comunista Cubano, de corte soviético, por entonces llamado Partido Socialista Popular (PSP).

Los datos no mientes y es un hecho que tanto Fidel como Raúl castro le hacen justicia por lo que son conocidos mundialmente y por lo que han hecho de Cuba.

Sin embargo falta un hermano Castro, he aquí la parte oculta de la historia cubana que realmente es un detalle interesante para la historia.

El tercer miembro de los hermanos Castro del que nunca se habla es Juanita Castro.

Su apellido le ayudo mucho para poder salvar muchas vidas de personas que estaban en contra de la dictadura de sus hermanos. Ella estaba consiente que al ayudar a esta gente ponía su vida en peligro.

Considerada en Cuba como una traidora y considerada de poca confianza por lo exiliados cubanos que vive en Miami, donde ella también vive actualmente. La han acusado de ser una espía comunista y ha recibido varias amenazas de muerte.

Apoyó la revolución liderada por sus dos hermanos, lo hizo porque estaba en contra de Baptista y quería que el pueblo cubano saliera de esa dictadura, sin saber que al hacer eso iba a entrar a una dictadura peor. En 1961inició a trabajar para la CIA, ya que no le importaba ser una Castro su fin último siempre había sido liberar a Cuba.

Ella confiesa que la ruptura con su hermano Raúl, fue la que más le dolió, porque él es más humano y esta dispuesto a discutir con los opositores. La ruptura con Fidel no es que no le duela lo que sucede es que él es más frío y ambicioso. Juanita señala que: “ellos son muy distintos, desde que eran pequeños”.

Su apellido le ha permitido ayudar mucho y tener poder de salvar muchas vidas que están en contra de la dictadura de sus hermanos, ella estaba consiente que al ayudar a esta gente ponía su vida en peligro.

Actualmente publicó su libro “Fidel y Raúl, mis hermanos, la historia secreta”. En el escribió sus memorias hasta que en 1999 decidió publicarlas. Relata la historia para los cubanos y para los que simplemente están interesados en la verdadera historia detrás de la familia Castro.

El audio colocado aquí, contiene una entrevista con declaraciones interesantes y relevantes que Juanita Castro otorgó a la radio guatemalteca Libertopolis, donde ella habla sin ningún problema acerca de la parte silenciada de la familia Castro.

Y.S. es una de las personas a las que más teme Raúl Castro. Nació en la Habana en 1975, se licenció en Filología Hispánica en el año 2000 pero el desencanto que le produjo el contacto con la intelectualidad oficialista, la relegó a una oscura oficina. De la cual sólo pudo salir, en 2004, por la misma puerta que millones de sus compatriotas, la del exilio.

Y.S. parecía condenada a engrosar la lista de anónimos cubanos hasta que en 2004, por motivos familiares, tuvo que regresar a la isla.

Allí junto a un grupo de intelectuales afínes funda la revista de reflexión y debate Consenso y, en 2007, crea el blog Generación Y con la finalidad poder expresar como internauta lo que le está vedado como ciudadana.

Un año después ese blog recibió el premio Ortega y Gasset de periodismo y, la revita Times, lo eligió uno de lso 25 mejores blogs del mundo y a su autora la incluyó entere las 100 personas más influyentes del planeta.

Pero sin duda el mayor de los reconocimientos a su labor llegó unos meses antes, cuando en marzo de 2008 el gobierno cubano implementó un filtró informático que impide el acceso a su blog en los sitios públicos de Internet en Cuba.

Las siglas de Y.S, como ya habrá adivinado, responden al nombre de Yoani Sanchez, la filóloga que acabó dominado el lenguaje html.

Un llamamiento a todos los demócratas europeos que no abandonen a la libertad, los que se encuentran en la posición ventajosa para dialogar pueden exigir al gobierno de Cuba la inmediata excarcelación de los prisioneros políticos y el cese de la represión contra la oposición.

Antes de la caída del Muro de Berlín, cuando se fraguaba la reunificación alemana, el primer paso fue destituir a Honecker, el secretario del partido comunista que impedía que las reformas necesarias dieran comienzo a una transición hacia la democracia. Después de la destitución realizada por el propio comité central del partido comunista alemàn , fue nombrado Egon Krenz como sustituto.

La llamada Alemania democràtica (RDA), estaba en una crisis económica y también moral y política. Egon Krenz llamó por teléfono a Helmut Koln -que había comenzado conversaciones con Mijaíl Gorbachov para la reunificación- y le pidió “créditos financieros” para poder continuar funcionando.

Koln escuchó la demanda económica en la desesperación e inmediatamente exigió condiciones políticas, regreso de las libertades: Derecho a pasaporte y a viajar libremente, libertad de expresión, libertad de prensa y de opinión, libertad de asociación… era la contraparte exigida con firmeza, si querían dinero tenían que abrir. Koln no hacía otra cosa que exigir en nombre de los alemanes que habían quedado secuestrados del régimen comunista. Exigía el regreso de las libertades como una condición indispensable a la ayuda financiera.

El Muro de Berlín después que ésta negociación fue aceptada, duró sólo unos días. Alemania se reunificó desde la libertad y los derechos de todos los ciudadanos. La represión no fue posible porque las tropas soviéticas recibieron la orden de mantenerse en sus cuarteles, como había sucedido meses antes en el verano de 1989, en la frontera de Austria con Hungría, los alemanes pudieron atravesar las alambradas, porque el uso de la violencia y el recrudecimiento de la represión no fue la respuesta a la grave crisis económica y política. El partido comunista fue disuelto poco después.

El gobierno de los Castros continúa a gozar de legitimidad. El gobierno español obvia a la oposición, los disidentes deben enfrentar una represión feroz, mantienen a los prisioneros políticos encarcelados en condiciones deplorables, atentando contra la dignidad humana, sin ningún gesto de concordia y de fin de las violencias hacia éstos hombres y sus familiares cuyo único delito ha sido disentir y expresarlo.

La complicidad de Estado con el terror como sistema de control en  Cuba, durante medio siglo, serà algo que los cubanos no podremos olvidar.

Carta abierta del escritor Ricardo González Alfonso prisionero de conciencia, periodista premio Reporteros sin fronteras 2008. Encarcelado durante la Primavera negra del 2003. Su estado de salud es crítico, necesitaría recibir asistencia médica urgente después de tres operaciones realizadas en el hospital de la càrcel. En estos momentos realiza un ayuno para exigir que sean reconocidos como prisioneros de conciencia.

Summary of the previous episode in Havana: Yoani Sanchez, the most known Cuban blogger and one of the most active opponents to Castro’s regime, had been arrested during a few minutes and beaten by State Security agents. This weekend her husband Reinaldo Escobar, who is also a well known blogger, organized an event to protest against this act of violence. He wanted to meet security agents in a “verbal duel” about the incident.

But while he was talking with journalists, several hundreds of people arrived and began to shout against him. “They pulled my hair, hit me with a shoe, tore my shirt, pulled away my bag of books. I lost my glasses”, Escobar told Reuters. He and his supporters hardly escaped from a lynch. One might think that a movement of such a magnitude was not spontaneous even if Cuban authorities explained that “the Cuban people are tired of Yoani Sanchez”.

This new incident came a few days after the publication of an interview of Barack Obama on Yoani Sanchez’ blog. Some videos have been taken from the incident :

I always thought that Cubans were a smart and heady group of people. If one looks back in history, they will find that there have been prominent Cubans in just about all areas of human endeavor; numerous actors, countless musicians, singers, painters, authors, composers,  journalists, dancers, professional baseball players, world champion boxers, Olympic gold medalists, a world chess champion and even a Nobel Prize winning scientist. Yet as accomplished as Cubans have been throughout history, they are also one of the most self-serving, back-stabbing group of people on the planet. Who would have thought that an island nation with such industrious people would have had a communist leader for over 50 years, and turned on their own population in support of these communist slime! Instead of rallying together to overthrow the Castro’s (Fidel and his gay brother Raul) they continue to suck up to the communist regime. Cubans may be intelligent, talented and industrious, but they are also a bunch of spineless people.

HAVANA – The husband of an acclaimed dissident Cuban blogger was punched and shouted down by a pro-government mob Friday after he challenged the presumed state agents who earlier roughed up his wife to a street corner debate.

As he promised earlier on his blog, Reinaldo Escobar went to the intersection of Havana’s 23rd and G avenues for the proposed discussion. On Thursday, Escobar’s wife posted President Barack Obama’s responses to her written questions on Cuba-U.S. relations on her “Generacion Y” blog.

Escobar was waiting with at least two companions when he got into an argument with another man. What appeared to a prearranged group of government supporters then moved in, screaming obscenities. They hit him and slapped him in the head and pulled his hair and shirt, but never knocked him down.

Soon, Escobar and the others were surrounded by men thought to be state security agents who protected them as they walked about two blocks. All around, Cubans pushed and screamed “Fidel! Fidel! Fidel!” and “Get out worm!” slang for Cuban-American exiles.

At one point, a band organized as part of a nearby street festival joined the mob, marching through flower beds on the median of a boulevard. The music added an odd soundtrack to a tense situation.

After about 10 minutes, Escobar and the others were placed in unmarked cars and driven away.

Ahead of Escobar’s arrival Friday, Cuba’s Young Communists Union organized a street book fair on the same corner, blocking off traffic.

It was unclear if the security agents who came Friday where the same ones who presumably assaulted his wife, Yoani Sanchez, two weeks earlier. After the incident, Escobar challenged the alleged assailants to a verbal duel.

Sanchez answered the phone at the couple’s apartment moments after Friday’s bedlam, but hung up without confirming where her husband was taken. Pro-government “acts of repudiation” against dissidents happen a few times a year. Usually, state security gives opposition activists a ride home after a few minutes to keep things from getting too violent.

“This street is Fidel’s!” the mob shouted. They eventually chanted the name of the current president, Raul Castro, who replaced Fidel in February of 2008.

A government press agent came to the aid of an Associated Press Television cameraman after a member of the mob shoved him from behind and grabbed his camera. The culprit later apologized, then was led away by another group of men.

For about 10 minutes after Escobar was gone, the crowd continued to chant “Fidel! Fidel!” for international news cameras. Then it dispersed quietly.

On Nov. 6, Sanchez was walking to a nonviolence march when two men in plainclothes forced her into an unmarked sedan, pulled her hair and kicked her. The incident occurred at the same street corner where Escobar was hit and slapped Friday, and Sanchez says state security agents were involved.

The confrontation was so violent, Sanchez said she thought the men might kill her, but instead they dropped her off near her apartment.

She vowed on her blog to keep writing caustic, often witty criticism of the struggles of daily life on an island where there is no freedom of speech or assembly — and people endure shortages of even basic food.

On Thursday, she posted the U.S. president’s answers to her written questions but, like nearly all sites critical of the Cuban government, access is blocked on the island.

In the posted responses, Obama said he isn’t interested in “talking for the sake of talking” with Raul Castro and indicated he won’t visit the island until the communist government changes its ways.

Escobar has his own blog, which is also blocked on the island.

Cuba tolerates no official opposition to its single-party communist system and dismisses nearly everyone who criticizes its government publicly as paid mercenaries of Washington.

Earlier this year, Time magazine named Sanchez — whose blog gets about 1 million hits a month — one of the world’s 100 most influential people. Twice this year, she has been denied permission to leave Cuba to collect international journalism prizes.

A former State Department official and his wife pled guilty last week to three decades of providing classified U.S. national defense information to state sponsor of terrorism Cuba.  According to the Miami Herald, the husband and wife spy team “appeared in good spirits” during a court appearance in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia a few miles away from Virginia in Washington, DC.  In return for the guilty plea, the couple will spend the balance of their golden years behind bars, rightly so, without possibility of parole.

The statement by Acting U.S. Attorney Channing Phillips succinctly summarized the matter:  the “guilty plea and impending sentence close the book on this couple’s contemptuous betrayal of our nation. Thanks to a well-planned and executed counterintelligence investigation that included unprecedented cooperation among multiple U.S. agencies, the Myers’s serious transgressions of compromising our nation’s classified secrets will now be appropriately addressed with significant prison sentences.  Others who would think to compromise and jeopardize our nation’s security should be forewarned.”

The day before this hearing, advocates of easing U.S. sanctions on Cuba were testifying before a Congressional Committee in the House of Representatives.  It is too bad the plea deal was not announced the day before that hearing for it was a yet another clear reminder why easing U.S. sanctions on Cuba is not warranted at this time.  Travel to Cuba by American citizens is like oil sales are to Iran – a money line to sustain a repressive regime.

No one should be allowed to visit, not even family, unless there is an extreme humanitarian need.  Easing of travel restrictions will not only afford the regime much-neeed hard currency, but will also allow it to find more ways to spawn characters like Ana Belen Montes or the Myers, to name a few, who will compromise U.S. national security interests.  Easing travel will not foster regime change.  Only a robust program of economic isolation by the United States, and one would hope allies, can force the regime to change its ways.  Such an approach has worked in places such as South Africa.  It can work in Cuba.

It is too bad that the Obama Administration rolled back the Bush Administration restraints on travel.  This diplomatic and economic carrot was quickly denounced by the regime as not enough.  But they will accept it because they need the cash and the distraction. Hopefully, that is all the easing of restrictions that there will be on our end.  U.S. law is clear.  The Cuban regime knows what it must do to secure concessions from the United States.  There is no need to help them or make it easier for the dictator and his supporters to hold on to power.  The Myers plea deal is case in point – the current regime has no interest in working with the United State, quite the opposite – it, like fellow state sponsor of terrorism Iran, still seeks to undermine U.S. interests.
