That’s why he frequently called “The Chameleon.” Bowie’s 9th studio album, Young Americans came out on March 7, 1975 and heralded a self-termed “plastic soul” phase in which he briefly embraced the sounds of 60s and 70s American R&B music.

The blue-eyed soul of Young Americans followed Bowie’s late-60s start as a pop and music hall performer, the hard rock of The Man Who Sold The World (1970) and the glam-rock of Ziggy Stardust in the early 70s. But plastic soul was short-lived. Within a year, Station to Station moved him to an avant-pop mode, and 1977’s Low transitioned further into an electronic, synth-pop sound.

Young Americans had a #1 single in “Fame” (co-written by John Lennon, who also provided backing vocals) and a lesser hit with the title track. The album itself made it into the Top 10 in both the U.S. and U.K. It’s available on Amazon and iTunes. Check the Playlist Vault for my interpretation of Bowie’s 25 best songs.

What up guys!

Today, we performed for the first time at a school named Madras Middle School. We performed actually with our big sis April Lane for their Black History Program and we were very honored to do so. It was a GREAT experience and so different than performing at open mics, clubs, etc. where we normally perform. It was so cool to see that the students there really enjoyed our performance, and not only them, but their teachers loved it as well! After our performance, we were able to meet in the school’s media center with some of the students and the great feedback that we got about our performance just motivated us 10X over to keep doing what we’re doing in trying to make music that will impact the world. We also promised them that we’d come back to perform once we become super big lol. We will we will!

On a side note, we are still working on the Lanes Mixtape: ‘I Feel Ya Girl, But…’ We’ll be releasing the first song VERY SOON called ‘In-Check!!’

And don’t forget that we will have some upcoming BIG NEWS that we can’t wait to share with you all!

Peace

What up all!

So we wanted to give you an update. We are in the studio working on putting out a HOT R&B Mixtape entitled ‘I Feel Ya Girl, But…’It’s coming along great but we are trying to do it before we start working on our original music (which is a GREAT problem to have btw, never too much opportunity lol)! We believe you deserve our greatest work each time we release something so we won’t rush.

Pretty soon, we’ll be working with some AMAZING producers and I can’t let you know who at the moment, but you will know soon enough. But yeah, so we are going to get as much out to you as soon we can! Thanks for the support and we’ll keep you updated.

Peace

What up all!

So we wanted to give you all a quick update as to what we were doing. Recently, we’ve just been performing tons each week trying to just become the best artists out, which takes practice as we are learning lol. Things are going really well and we are gaining more and more attention, which is very exciting!

Also, today, our music is up on ITunes!!! Just search ‘Lanes Mini LP’ and you’ll see what we’re about. It’s exciting for us because it’s our first music that we’ve actually made available for our supporters to buy. We hope you all do and we appreciate everyone that’s bought so far!!

We have some HUGE things coming up in this upcoming year literally starting in January! Stay tuned for more from Lanes! We’re just getting started. We hope everyone has a great Christmas and New Year! Stay motivated chasing your dreams as we will do the same.

Thanks again to all who have supported us this past year! We appreciate the love and we hope that you all know that we love you back!

Merry Christmas from our family to yours!
