Olá pessoal, Segue abaixo a tradução do anúncio do openSUSE 11.2 RC2: É isto pessoal! Estamos quase

Olá pessoal,

Segue abaixo a tradução do anúncio do openSUSE 11.2 RC2:

Baixe o Release Candidate 2 hoje!

O que você está esperando? Baixe o RC2 hoje!

dd if=imagem.iso of=/dev/sdX bs=4M

Well some of you might of had problems, the main problems where iPhone 3G Users couldn’t get it to run the right way, there were some fixes but they might not have been advertised enough. And another problem was if you picked to install Icy with blackra1n then it could mess up yo jailbreak by overwriting a important file. Well with this new update these problems should be fixed. This new update can be used on both Mac and Windows. Thanks to GeoHot for all the hard work =)

Use

After another or at the same time?

Do you want to express that the actions in the past happened one after another or at the same time?

Simon was playing on the computer while his brother was watchin TV.

New action or already in progress?

If you want to express that a new action happened in the middle of another action, you need both tenses: Simple Past the new action and Past Progressive for the action already in progress.

action already in progress

While I was sitting in a meeting, (my mobile suddenly rang.)

Only mentioning or emphasising progress?

Do you just want to mention that an action took place in the past (also used for short actions)? Or do you want to put emphasis on the progress, e.g. that an action was taking place at a certain time?

The Narrative Tenses – by Viv Quarry (www.vivquarry.com) Narrative tenses are the grammatical

The Narrative Tenses – by Viv Quarry (www.vivquarry.com)

Narrative tenses are the grammatical structures that you use when telling a story, or talking about situations and activities which happened at a defined past time.

When narrating past events, DO NOT mix past and present tenses (avoid using the present perfect and present simple), as these will confuse the reader/listener about when things really happened.

Here are the most common narrative tenses and how they are used:

1. The Simple Past Tense.

The past simple is used:

a) to express a completed action at a definite time in the past. The separate events which occur in sequence in a narrative are expressed using this tense.

Eg.

I woke up (1) at half past seven yesterday, I had a shower (2) and ate some breakfast (3). I left for work (4) at quarter past eight.

NOTE! The past simple is the most common tense after ‘When?’ in questions.

b) to express past habits.I went to school in São Paulo until my family moved to Rio.

NOTE! Used to + verb is often used to express past habits and states that happened in the past, but do not happen now. Used to can not be used for actions which only occured once.

Eg. I used to work for Petrobrás. (I don’t work for them now)

I didn’t use to like living in Ipanema. (I do like it now)

Where did you use to go for lunch? (You don’t go there now)

Would (+ adverb of frequency) + verb can be used to express past habits which do not happen now.

Eg. My grandfather would always read the newspaper at breakfast time. (He doesn’t do it now)

Using ‘would’ instead of ‘used to’ often gives an idea of nostalgia. However, if the adverb of frequency is stressed, it can give the idea that the habit was annoying.

Eg. My dog would never do what I wanted it to do!

NOTE! ‘WOULD’ CAN NOT BE USED FOR PAST STATES!

Eg. I would live in São Paulo. IS WRONG!

2. The Past Continuous Tense. As with all continuous tenses, the past continuous gives the idea of activity and duration.

The past continuous is used:

a) To describe the situation in which the events of the narrative occurred.

Eg.

When I saw her (1), she was wearing (2) a blue dress and was driving (2) a Mercedes.

b) to express an activity in progress at a time in the past.

Eg.

What were you doing (1) when I phoned you?

NOTE! The past continuous is the most common tense after ‘while’ in questions and statements.

The past continuous also expresses the idea of:

An interrupted activity

Eg. She was cooking dinner when the door bell rang. (She cooked dinner = she finished it)

An unfinished activity

Eg. I was reading a book yesterday. (I read a book… = I finished reading the whole book)

A repeated action

Eg. They were shooting at the enemy. (They shot…. = They fired the gun one time only)

A temporary situation

Eg. He was standing on the corner waiting for a bus. (It stood on the corner. = Permanent situation)

NOTE! The past continuous can also be used as ‘future in the past’. This will be explained later.

3. The Past Perfect Simple Tense.

The past perfect simple is used

a) to show that an action or situation happened BEFORE the events in the narrative described in the simple past.

Eg.

I woke up (1) at half past seven yesterday. I had slept very badly (2) because there had been a power cut (3) during the night.

NOTE! It is bad style to use too many verbs in the past perfect . As soon as it is clear that the events happened before the time that the narrative is set, use the simple past.

Eg. I woke up at half past seven yesterday. I had slept very badly because there’d been a power cut during the night. When the electricity went off, I was watching the Brazilian national team playing football against the USA.

NOTE! If the subject of two verbs is the same, you don’t have to repeat the ‘had’ auxiliary.

Eg. When I arrived, he’d finished his dinner and left the room.

b) Making a narrative more interesting to read.

It is generally seen as bad literary style to have too many verbs in the same tense. In English it is always best to avoid repetition where possible.

Look again at the example used to illustrate the simple past tense.

This same sentence could be improved for dramatic effect by using the past perfect simple.

Eg. I woke up (1) at half past seven yesterday. When I had had a shower (2) and eaten some breakfast (3), I left for work (4).

CONJUNCTIONS (After, As soon as, Before, By the time, Once, till, When, Unless, Until)

With these conjunctions of time, the past perfect shows that the first action MUST BE COMPLETED before the second action begins, otherwise the past simple is used.

Eg. After….she finished, they left / she had finished, they left. (She had to finish first)

As soon as…we arrived she said “hello”. / I had done it, I sent it to her. (I had to do it first)

She wouldn’t sign the contract before…. seeing it / she had seen it. (She had to see it first)

They wouldn’t go unless….she came with them / they had seen it was safe.

(It was important to finish checking that it was safe before going)

For more information on conjunctions of time, see the worksheet called: When do I use the perfect tenses?.

4. The Past Perfect Continuous Tense.a) The past perfect continuous is used for longer activities that were happening continuously up until a specified time in the past.

Eg.

He looked very tired (1), he had been working very hard (2) over the past three weeks.

As with the past continuous, the past perfect continuous can show the following:

Unfinished activity

Eg. He hadn’t heard the telephone ring because he’d been reading.

Repeated activity

Eg. I was tired. I’d been cutting wood all day.

With the past perfect simple, the focus is on the completed activity.

Eg. He’d read three reports that morning.

He’d cut a huge pile of wood.

Back to narrative tenses ex. 1

5. The Future in the Past.

The future in the past is used to look into the future from a point of time in the past. However, this “future” event still occurred at a time before the present time.

Eg.

I woke up (1) at half past seven yesterday. I was meeting my boss (2) at ten o’clock that morning, so I wouldn’t be able to have lunch (3) with Susan. I wasn’t going to get home (4) again until late that night.

Depending on the situation, the following tenses are used in the future in the past:

The past simple (a timetabled event) The past continuous (an arrangement)

Would (a prediction) Was going to (a plan)

Would be doing (an action at a specific time) Would have done (action completed before

a specified time)

For more information on these different situations, see the worksheet on the future tenses.

(Taken from Nicholas @ http://strictly4myteacherz.wordpress.com)

In a previous post concerning using the story of the Titanic to teach past continuous, I mentioned an activity at the end that used cards and pictures of little stickmen doing various activities and actions and things.

The idea was to provide visual input for students to develop sentences and mini-stories and in so doing so practice the past continuous / past simple distinction: by giving them one hand pictures showing actions which can clearly be done over a period of time, and on the other hand actions or events that clearly happen in an instantaneous fashion, students will practice and to some degree begin to internalize the distinction.

And since, in some other classes, I’ve been having to work at this distinction with various groups of various ages, I’ve made some pictures for this very purpose. I thought I would be a good idea to share so, here goes:

So, just click on the pictures, copy ‘em, save ‘em, adjust the size or contrast or whatever if need be, print ‘em out, cut ‘em up, and have at it:

Separate them into two piles and mix them up. Ss take one from each pile and have to make a sentence using a past continuous verb and a past simple verb. There are no right or wrong combinations: some may be more logical than others, others may require a bit more imagination to connect the two.

Then, either the teacher or a partner can ask questions to get more details from them. “Why did the ghost appear?” or “Who called her?” or “What did they do with the money?” (In fact, you can do this in such a way during the demonstration that you show the use of past perfect, if your students are up to that, e.g. “The ghost appeared because the man had stolen money from the ghost’s house” etc., etc.)

Okay, gotta run.

If you are looking into getting a neck roll/collar this might help you decide on which one to buy. Even if you aren’t in the market for one I suggest you keep reading because it could save a neck or collar bone, and that is the most common injury I hear about in motocross. I have been wearing the EVS RC2 Race Collar for the past season, and I will say that I’m glad that I bought it. First of all, I like the fitment and I hardly ever notice it when I ride or race; hardly any restriction. I make sure I wear it every time I ride a dirt bike because it doesn’t bother me. The RC2 is great protection when you get in an crash and slam your head against your chest or shoulders. I fortunately haven’t had any bad accidents with it, but I did flat land a jump and my chin would have hit my chest but the race collar prevented that from happening. I ended up having a bruise there, but who knows what it could have been if I wasn’t wearing the collar. All in all I think it should be a necessity for all riders that go somewhat fast because you honestly don’t know what will happen. It’s cheap enough that it will easily pay for itself and probably one hundred more after your first big crash that could break your collar bone. Go buy one now if you don’t have a neck collar already. Remember to have fun and stay safe. Thanks for viewing.

Hemen

/etc/X11/xorg.conf

dosyasını düzenlemeye çalıştım. Lakin sonuç hüsran oldu. Ama yılmadım, yıkılmadım. Paket yöneticisinden xorg intel sürücüsünü kaldırdım. Yeniden yükledim.

/etc/X11/xorg.conf

As you know i recently brought the 055xb tripod, and said i would update with the head, i decided on the 804rc2, as it has exactly the features i was looking for, three way tilt and pan head, with a built in spirit level allowing for level shots every time. Also with short arms so that its quick and easy to use not reaching out to twist a handle. the build quality is outstanding almost feeling like one solid piece.

Again i put it through it’s paces making sure it was the right one for me, along with the legs it makes a very strong reliable tripod, when i screwed it altogether and tried it out i couldn’t believe it, before on my other tripod it struggled at times to hold my camera in positions, baring in mind it has done a lot for me also it was my first one so….. but now with the two combined (head and legs) it feels so safe holding my camera not worrying if something will break etc.

silly i know but i decided to give it shake to see if anything rattles.

It’s build like a brick **** house, so 10/10 for the total outcome of my new tripod to work along side, very happy and hope other enjoy using either item.

Saludos!
