Seattle 911 and State Trooper Dan McDonald explain why:

“HOV lanes are not passing lanes,” State Patrol trooper Dan McDonald said. “You have to have the minimum number of passengers posted in the vehicle to be in the HOV lane.

“If you meet the passenger requirement, then you can use the HOV lane as a passing lane, but if you are the only occupant then you cannot enter the HOV lane at any point.”

So there it is, you snarky drivers. Washington just opened up as a whole new market for the RealDoll.

Sexpuppen sind ein schönes Schmuddelthema, und anscheinend eines, das dringend eine soziologische Überarbeitung benötigt. Nach einem ausführlichen und sehr interessanten Artikel zum Thema existieren Onlinegemeinschaften mit geschätzen 12.000 Mitgliedern, eine stattliche Zahl. Ein anderer wissenschaftlicher Aufsatz gibt Anregungen für die Entwicklung und notwendige ethische Prinzipien einer Roboter-Prostitution, als Ersatz für menschliche SexarbeiterInnen. (Eine Doku englischer Sprache ist am Ende des Artikels eingebettet.)

Interessant wäre nun, ob sich für die Gruppe der (vornehmlich männlichen) Benutzer/Besitzer/Partner der Frauen aus Gummi spezielle Profile herauskristallisieren. Man könnte ja annehmen, dass es sich dabei um “UnderDogs” handelt, die sich auf andere Weise entweder keinen Zugang zur Ressource Sex verschaffen können. Oder möglicherweise ist es ein Typ Mann, der schlicht nicht mit Frauen umgehen kann? Indikatoren dafür finden sich in dem oben bereits angesprochenen Artikel, wo die Autorin über einen der “iDollators” schreibt:

Enttäuschung scheint ein Grund zu sein, echte Frauen zu verschmähen. Ein anderer Grund scheint zu sein, in Gegenwart von Frauen ein Gefühl der völligen Ohnmacht zu empfinden, viele Männer scheinen ihren Kunstfrauen Persönlichkeiten zuzuschreiben, die sie an echten Frauen mögen.

Aus welchen gesellschaftlichen Strukturen heraus entsteht diese synthetische Liebe, und: welche gesellschaftlichen Strukturen entstehen aus dieser synthethischen Liebe? Was für eine gesellschaftliche Funktion können solche Silikonfrauen haben? Und, wenn wir hier schon gendern, dann gleich richtig: Wie viele Frauen nutzen Sexpuppen? Wenn man mal den SafeSearch bei Google rausnimmt, und nach schweinischen Bilden von Menschen mit Sexpuppen sucht (habe ich mir sagen lassen, so was würde ich ja nie tun… ) dann gewinnt man schnell den Eindruck, dass auch die männlichen Puppen eher Männer ansprechen. Woran liegt das?

Ein weiterer Artikel legt sogar nahe, dass Sexpuppen in der Zukunft eine Art Ventil für “unterprivilegierte Männer” sein könnten, stellt aber auch fest, dass mit steigender Kenntnis in der Biotechnologie und Neurologie möglicherweise der “Orgasmus auf Knopfdruck” und direkt im Gehirn simulierter Cybersex eine billigere Variante wären. Interessant wird das Thema auch dann, wenn man sich vor Augen hält, was für rechtliche Grenzen gesellschaftlich neu verhandelt werden müssen: Ist es beispielsweise strafbar, Sex mit einer einem minderjährigen nachempfundenen Puppe zu haben oder Pornographie zu konsumieren, die mit Hilfe von solchen Puppen kinderpornographische Inhalte simuliert? Kann man dann eigentlich noch von Simulation sprechen? Ein weiterer Blogeintrag referiert über bereits heute existente Gummipuppen-Bordelle in Japan (Trends der Zukunft). Möglicherweise bekommen wir also schon in naher Zukunft einen interessant zu analysierenden gesellschaftlichen Diskurs seviert. Bon Appetit!

Ich habe leider gerade keine Zeit, das lang und breit auszuarbeiten, findet sich jemand anders? Oder gibt es schon gute soziologische Literatur zum Thema, und meine Recherche und ich haben sie nur nicht entdeckt?

Und zu guter Letzt noch ein Stück Literatur, möglicherweise visionärer Natur: Charles Bukowski schreibt in seiner 1977 erschienenen Kurzgeschichte “Fuck Machine” darüber, wohin das ganze gehen kann, wenn es außer Kontrolle gerät.

Eine relativ lange Doku zum Thema in englischer Sprache gleich mal eingebettet (Gefunden auf Dokumentarfilm24.de):

Does the perfection of the semblance of feminitity follow any other logic, or is the Realdoll just an extreme cause of the mortifying effects of masculine desire? Returning to the nagging wife, it’s important to notice that one of the Realdoll’s reported advantages is its deafening silence – her propensity to listen.

Over a year ago an article by Joe Zobenica appeared in the Atlantic which discussed the downward spiral of masculinity viewed from the singular perspective of men’s magazines. One of the focuses of the article is the standard attitude towards the term girlfriend – in Playboy a man afraid of the term is, in the advice columns, told to get over it, in FHM or Maxim to be afraid of the term is deemed normal. Whereas contemporary men’s magazines infuse the Madonna-whore complex with new blood endorsing a perpetual man-child identity, Playboy attempted, surely with debatable success, to engender a bohemian cosmopolitanism – essentially that, when one finds the sexy girl who likes to talk about Nietzsche in the hot tub, commitment should be pursued and not fled.

This is not to say that such immaturity is a vice only of the up and coming youth. In a fairly recent episode of The Colbert Report, Colbert had on Phil Weiss who, in the wake of the aforementioned Spitzer affair, stated that he sympathized with Spitzer because men are not meant to be monogamous. A similar logic surrounds the website AshleyMadison.com which is a dating site meant for married couples seeking affairs. Weiss, like many older men, instead of embracing the youth attitude of girlfriends are scary, hold on to a sexual-revolution nostalgia, a throwback mentality to places such as the Sandstone Retreat sex resort of the 1970s, which mentally edits out inequality.

The porous and endless nature of feminine sexuality and femininity itself, is smuggled under slightly altered notions of motherhood in various cultural visualizations. As I’ve discussed before, it may be that gender has been regulated to a symbolic battle where men try (vainly) to assert authority in language (the realm of feminine enjoyment according to Lacan) and women enjoy the combat since, ultimately, they cannot loose as long as that enjoyment remains maternal (as a form of the Superegoic Law). To put this back into cultural terms, it seems that, in a heternormative space, women embrace the Madonna-whore split utilizing it as a weapon against the neurotic masculinity of the contemporary father. To return to Zobenica’s piece – men have simply forfeited the battle by adopting the worst stereotypes – by becoming Al Bundys and Peter Griffins without it being a joke.

Ahora platicaré sobre las películas que he rentado en esta semana (aprovechando el martes 2×1 en la cadena-multitransnacional-de-videos-que-todo-mundo-ya-conoce) y trataré de que sea periodicamente conforme escriba este blo’o. Y además, soy muy susceptible a dar spoilers, asi que lean bajo su propia precaución!

1. The Other Boelyn Girl (La otra Bolena?)

No me agradó tanto como yo lo pensaba. Habla de Enrique VII de Inglaterra y su relación con las Bolenas. Que si una le bajaba el Henry a la otra Bolena y viceversa, que si una aborta, si la otra no, en fin. La intención de la historia es buena ya que todo lo que pasaba si era digno de peliculiarse, pero empieza muy aburrido y casi todo el filme es aburrido hasta el final, pero de ahi ya no les cuento mas del trama. Lo que si vale la pena ver son las chuladas de protagonistas. Quien se imaginaría a Natalie como la víbora y Scarlett como la mustia; yo pensando que los papeles deberían ser al revés, pero igual asi, actuan bien las monas. Igual Eric Bana, y todos los trajes que traen los personajes. Si, tiene buena direccion de arte, pero en lo demás, esta nomas como para verse en la tele cuando no hay nada que ver.

2. The Air I Breathe (creo que no tiene título en español)

Habla de cuatro historia intimamente unidas: la de de un ayudante de gangster que puede ver el futuro, el apostador naive que debe dinero, la estrella de pop esclavizada y un doctor que debe salvar una vida. Está como las pelis apocalipticas posmodernistas (finales de los 90’s, prinicipios de los 00’s) en que te hacen reflexionar acerca de temas cuasi profundos, pero las cuatro tienen conexiones muy directas (muy a la 21-gramos). Hay acción, un poco de suspenso y mucha figura retorica, por lo que está un poco mejor como para tenerla en tu librería de DVD’s, pero creo que hay mejores peliculas que conectan tramas (y no hablo las de Gonzalez Iñarritu).

3. A Mighty Heart (Todo Corazón)

Aqui, Angelina Jolie encarna a una periorista a la que secuestran a su esposo tambien periodista allá por Pakistán, por lo que hace todo lo que puede para salvar a su esposo. Otra pelicula post 9/11 que se enfoca hacia las carnadas occidentales que atrapan los grupos terroristas mediorientales, ahora vista de un punto mas personal, enfocandose a las emociones de la protagonista, en la que te pega su angustia de no encontrar a su amado y que la prensa intervenga de una manera indecorosa y de que le inventen rumores y ponga en evidencia la valemadrosidad de las autoridades estadounidenses. Si aprendes mucho sobre el panorama de esta situación y sientes el poder de las emociones de Jolie. Namás lo unico es que como es de resolver un crimen, te confundes con tanto nombre árabe y ya no sabes lo que está pasando. Recomendable para los que le gusta el genero ficcion-documentalístico.

4. Lars and the real Girl (otra que no tiene título en español, al parecer)

Esta fue la que mas me gusto de las cuatro. Habla de un chico friki (Ryan Gosling, el de The Notebook) que para desahogarse de sus emociones, se consigue una RealDoll, y la presenta a su pueblito como su novia. Como es muy querido por su gente, le creen y la tratan como si fuera realmente su amante. Conste, no esta locuaz, sino que solo esta manifestando su deseo de amar a alguien. Esta peli lo que tiene es angel y te hace una cavidad bonita en el corazón. Me sentí extrañamente identificado con el protagonista y hasta te hacen creer que “Bianca”, el nombre de la muñeca, si existe y hace labores humanitarias y es enfermera y todo eso.

Några ljuspunkter i vårt numera neolutheranska arbetarsamhälle kom i form av massagestavar på Apoteket. Det tog nästan 50 år efter den sexuella revolutionen innan massagestaven skulle bli så pass accepterad att en välrenommerad affärskedja vågar sälja detta öppet. Det må vara en statlig sådan men ändå känns det som ett stort steg för “sexliberala Sverige”. Inte för att jag tror att det kommer bli en anstormning eller att man kommer att sälja slut på dessa “sexhjälpmedel” men kanske kan det hjälpa till att långsamt ta bort tabun kring ändå ganska normala företeelser.

Nu väntar vi bara på realdolls, lösfittor och buttpluggs för att behaga även Apotekets manliga kundkrets.

“Suplus: Terrorized Into Being Consumers”

Con este documental, ganador del Lobo de Plata en IDFA en 2003, uno de los galardones más valorados por los documentalistas, Erik Gandini (director) y Johan Söderberg (editor) nos muestran una obra de arte audiovisual donde juegan con la imagen y el sonido de una forma brutal.

Además de crear una nueva atmósfera con audio e imágenes nunca antes vista, el contenido sobre el que versa el documental varía desde manifestaciones contra la globalización y el cambio climático hasta intervenciones de líderes políticos como Bush, Chirac, Berlusconi, Putin… pasando por una fábrica de realdolls y entrevistas a John Zerzan, que defiende la teoría de que el ser humano debe volver a la edad de piedra y es casi considerado un terrorista en Estados Unidos.

Abyss Creations, purveyor of the aesthetically realistic, replacement sexual partner, the RealDoll, has recently revealed in an interview with adult entertainment blog, Fleshbot, that an unprecedented number of orders for midget versions of its products are threatening to undercut the business.

Abyss Creations PR Manager, Tamlin Howes, was speaking to the editor of the website “where sex, porn, and the web collide” about new technologies used in the creation of the RealDoll, when he made the following surprising statement:

“I don’t know why, but within the past few months we’ve had literally dozens of requests for miniature versions of our girls… not tiny, like a Barbie doll, I’d say most of the customers are asking for two-thirds-sized versions.”

The company behind the infamous RealDolls prides itself on tailoring its models to suit customer’s individual tastes. The dolls are available with 16 interchangeable female faces and 10 body types – though even the most minor details, such as fingernail colour and even tan lines, can be specifically selected by the buyer.

Such freedom of choice comes at a cost, however, and the basic RealDoll will set you back around $7,000. In fact, Howes is starting to believe that it’s price that is driving the demand for the diminutive dolls:

“At first I just assumed some midgets wanted a piece of the action! Of course, we had no objection with tailoring the dolls to suit their personal requirements – each RealDoll is individually produced and I thought it was interesting that they wanted to spend time with a model of equal stature.”

He continued…

“The majority of orders were for regularly proportioned girls that had merely been downsized, in most areas at least – the breasts were still expected to be suitably large, which led to some very odd looking creatures! Interestingly though, we have had a number of customers requiring dwarf-scale proportions – y’know; tiny legs, huge head and that.”

Finishing with…

“Without really considering the repercussions, we sold the ‘midget’ dolls at a lower price. It wasn’t long before we were flooded with orders asking for girls that were under four-feet tall!”

Unfortunately for Howes and the rest of Abyss Creations, the costs involved in making the smaller-than-average dolls were not as low as they expected and, if the deluge of orders continues, they will begin recording a loss before the end of the second quarter.

The problem, according to Howes, is that requests for the midget models appear to be replacing orders for the regular-sized versions. There is a suspicion that news about the discount price has spread via word of mouth, but no evidence of such conversation could be found on the internet. All in all, it is a bit of a mystery how this craze has arrived so unexpectedly, but one thing’s for sure – some men are so desperate to get fucking a vaguely-lifelike, inanimate lump of polymer without breaking the bank, that they’ll stick their cocks into a Cuddle-Me Elmo with tits if it was easily washable.

The PR Manager said that the company will monitor the trend over the coming weeks and may be forced to stop selling its products at the lower rate before the end of the month. If you’re in the market for getting all five of Girls Aloud in RealDoll format, now may be the time…

Lars and the Real Girl might be this fall’s Little Miss Sunshine, which you can take as either an endorsement or a warning.

Like Sunshine, Lars takes deep, psychological dysfunction—in this case, a lonely man’s delusional acceptance of a “love doll” as real—and uses it as the backdrop for sitcom laughs and heartwarming sentiment.

You know how I know? The Real Doll documentary I blogged about a few weeks ago is officially mainstream – when there is a Yelp thread on something, you know it’s officially over, kind of like when Wal-Mart starts selling skinny jeans.

I say I’m a big old pervert because unlike a lot of other people, my reaction wasnt OMG THIS IS THE MOST DISGUSTING THING I’VE EVER SEEN it was more fascination followed by sympathy for the extreme loneliness. I don’t understand why everyone is so grossed out, have these people not been on the same Internet that I have been on for 11 years now? Have none of these people logged in any time at somethingawful or rotten.com? Tubgirl was far more traumatizing than Davecat.

The creepiest thing I’ve ever seen online was For the Love of Julie, this site about a woman who had a stalker. For a while, there were tons of videos up of this girl in her house and of the guy breaking into her apartment while she was out. It was really, really creepy (and of course, I looked at it all the time).

Eventually, some people called the cops out of concern for Julie (and because there were some posts hinting that the stalker was going to harm her) and they revealed that it was all fake and that the girl was an actress. The version on the Wayback Machine doesn’t appear to have the videos, but I know they were there. Whoever did this did a really good job of making it as realistic as possible, of course, years later, the site now looks so outdated that no one would buy it. I can’t find the post where they mention that the whole site is fake, but you’ll have to trust me. I know I saw it. And you know me…I forget nothing, even if I told you I did.
