A leak is not an easy play to run, although it is easy to detect. Information that is released ahead of schedule could be considered a leak. Information that is disclosed by a person who is not supposed to know the information could be considered a leak as well.

RealitySteve.com is a website built around the TV shows, “The Bachelor“, “The Bachelorette“and “The Bachelor Pad.” Steve’s goal is to engage his audience by keeping them informed about what is happening throughout the show’s existence. Not only does Steve blog about past episodes, but he keeps a running dialogue about future episodes, too. RealitySteve.com is a spoiler site designed to provide information and details about what will be happening throughout the show season. Not only does Steve take us in depth with detailed stories about situations, but he continues to seed information about rose ceremonies and dates.

RealitySteve.com is the perfect example of a leak. Steve is handing out information that is not supposed to be known to the audience. No one really knows where he gets his sources, but he is usually never wrong (in fact, I think he’s been wrong only once!). I’m not a big fan of Steve’s website simply because it takes the fun out of not knowing what will happen next, but a friend of mine is an avid reader.

Another great example of a Leak is when the TV show, “Dancing With the Stars“, leaks who their next show contestants will be. Their are several reasons the producers may choose to leak this information. One reason is to generate excitement about the upcoming season.

Again, because leaks are not easy to run, they are not plays for the beginner player. According to Alan Kelly, only the skilled player should try to pull-off a leak.
