He de reconocer que, en su día, el primer álbum de los chicos de Savannah (“Red Album”) no me terminó de convencer y lo aparté. Pero pocos meses antes de sacar su nuevo álbum “Blue Record” pude comprobar la gran calidad de este grupo de mezcla entre stoner y sludge-metal. Desde entonces esperaba ansioso la salida de su nuevo álbum y, desde luego, que no me han defraudado.

Con un álbum más tranquilo que el anterior, pero sin perder nada de su poderío, se han superado a sí mismos. Con dos canciones instrumentales al inicio y al final del álbum, demuestran el conocimiento que tienen de la música, que han sabido llevar a la perfección a su estilo.

Canciones llenas de riffs esplendorosos y ritmos que enganchan. Este grupo se ha convertido en uno de esos grupos de culto que tiene unos directos aplastantes, como pude comprobar no hace mucho tiempo. Saben mezclar a la perfección los gritos más desgarradores con melodías llenas de sentimiento.

Por eso os recomiendo enteramente este maravilloso segundo álbum de los estadounidenses. Aire fresco para el mundo de la música.

Que l’on fête Halloween ou non, impossible d’y réchapper. Que ce soit les mecs complètement bourrés qui trainent leur cape pailletée dans leur propre vomi sur le quai du métro, les étudiantes américaines qui boivent des bouteilles de vin rouge en essayant de ne pas perdre leurs oreilles de lapin ou les enfants maquillés et complètement égarés au milieu de cette jungle hostile, mettre un pied dehors samedi soir dernier était déjà une aventure en soi.

Personnellement, vu que les Transformers c’était déjà pris, j’ai opté pour le costume extravagant du mec qui pensait qu’Halloween, c’était le lendemain. Si vous pensez que vous avez fait mieux que moi, n’hésitez à poster des liens dans les comments.

Et si vous êtes restés chez vous devant l’émission paranormale de Dechavanne en vous demandant ce que vous avez raté, voici un aperçu des costumes cainris les plus fous, de Beyoncé en Spider-Woman à Jay-Z en Jason, en passant par des anonymes complètement dingues. Trick or Treat?

Beyoncé en Spider-Woman (un instant, j’ai cru que c’était Shakira déguisée en Beyoncé déguisée en Spider-Woman)

Jay-Z en Jason (je suis sur qu’il a choisi Jason pour la rime. En tout cas c’est con parce qu’on voit quand même ses grosses lèvres à travers le masque)

Tyrese en cosmonaute (une autre conséquence du décalage temporel des VMAs)

Khloe Kardashian et Lamar Odom en Batman & Catwoman (Lamar, passé 8 ans, ça marche plus ce genre de costumes)

Jermaine Dupri / B.Cox / Nelly en stewards (ou la croisière s’amuse, au choix)

Kim Kardashian et Reggie Bush en bandits des années 50 (qui ont l’air de s’être remis ensemble en traître)

I honestly feel a little bit silly missing out the cover for ‘Baroness – Blue Record’ on the Album Covers article. John Baizley, as well as being the awesome lead singer and rhythm guitarist for Baroness, is also a very good artist. He has an incredibly unique style and it is instantly distinguishable from other covers and artworks. But that doesn’t mean its simple – they are all very intricate. Lots of bands have commissioned him to do artwork like Darkest Hour, Torche, Kylesa, Pig Destroyer, Skeletonwitch…etc. Here is the artwork for ‘Blue Record’ -

Baroness have given their soon to be released new album a title. In a spectacular display of imagination, the follow up to 2007’s Red Album will be called…Blue Record.

It’s slated for release on 13th October through Relapse, and if the cover is anything to go by it should be just as sleazy and unhinged an affair as their last full length was:

En av 2007års trevligaste musikupplevelser var BARONESS debutalster Red Album, och en av de mest efterlängtade plattorna 2009 blir dess uppföljare Blue Record. Jag har nämnt den tidigare här och borde följt upp rapporteringen från studion som du kan läsa här och här.

Av konvolutet att döma skruvas förväntningarna upp ytterligare! Allt för sällan släpps plattor med så stilgt omslag som till Blue Record, även detta målat av bandets gitarrist och sångare John Baizley, vars konst du kan kika mer på här. Skivan släpps i oktober och mer info plus låtlista hittar du på deras MySpace blog.

The Game talks to MTV’s Mixtape Daily about The Red album, the meaning behind it, his lyrical growth and maturation and how it will show on this album. He says the beats are hard and lyrically it could sound like Pre-Documentary type Game tracks, so all in all it sounds like he’s trying to return to top form. He says he’s re-dedicating himself. Will he succeed?

So I’m probably not the most hardcore Weezer fan. In fact, I own two albums, the Blue Album, and the Red Album. Apparently, the hardcore fan hasn’t been to thrilled with them lately. Regardless, their most recent album brings me to this entry, about Heart Songs.

What I love about this song is that it makes you remember. I believe that all songs that seep deep into our brains, bring out memories when we hear them. I also believe that a song that’s catchy and nostalgic adds to the opening of the memory bank.

What I found interesting as I first heard this song was the paying homage to those who influenced them. If we’re all honest, we’ve been influenced and shaped by the music (and many other things) that was around us growing up. You’re crazy if you think other wise. Sometimes, as we stroll down memory lane, it’s interesting to see how this group, that song, those albums shaped us to who we are today. I suppose in a lot of ways, this blog will be the result of that. My looking back, and seeing in what ways was I shaped by the music in my life.

I searched for a while, and I couldn’t find shit. Not even on the Relapse website. I’m sure it’s got a fucking name, I’m just completely out of it. Out of it like never before. The Starbucks I drank hasn’t even kicked in. Hell, I’m listening to “Dead Skin Mask” and I’m not even headbanging at my desk. Tonight will be sleepy time for me. I really wish the special edition version of this album came with a spliff full of the stickiest of the icky, cause we all know this is gonna be one of “those” types of listens. 10 The Game-Championship New

Em breve o sétimo disco de estúdio, que sucederá Weezer (de 2008, conhecido como The Red Album), já está praticamente pronto – “embora ainda falte ajeitar alguns detalhes”, diz a nota deixada no site oficial da banda.

Além do disco novo os caras aproveitaram para listar o que os fãs podem esperar para o segundo semestre:

- Primeiro single e vídeo do novo trabalho;
- Um lançamento especial e não-físico, a ser anunciado;
- A estação de rádio online APE;
- Edição deluxe do disco Pinkerton, de 1996 (“finalmente – se tudo correr como planejado!”).

Para quem curte o som do Weezer…é só aguardar que pelo visto vem coisa boa por aí.
