1. Heat
Xbox 360 heat is excessive.

There are a lot of high powered components within the Xbox 360 that are packed into a small space. Now, a lot of heat is put out by these components. Heat sinks, fans, and vents inside the console are used to dissipate this heat. Because of it’s marginal cooling capacity, this system easily overheats if the airflow into the Xbox 360 is obstructed. When the heat levels get too high, various design flaws begin to act up leading to the red ring of death.

2. Lead free solder
Xbox 360 solder is brittle.

In order to avoid using lead in products used by children, Microsoft made the Xbox 360 with lead free solder. Lead free solder tends to be more brittle. To make matters worse, the wrong type of lead free solder was used by Microsoft, one that gets really brittle with heat exposure over long periods. If you stress this brittle solder, tiny hair-line cracks will develop. The cracks can obstruct the flow of electrical current and also result in a weak solder joint that easily breaks.

3. Flawed heat sink clamp design
Xbox 360 heatsink clamp causes motherboard to flex.

The X clamp is badly designed because the clamp presses down with a non uniform force. When the GPU and CPU heat up, this uneven pressure intensifies, which makes the motherboard bend and flex. Brittle, lead free solder joints get stressed when the motherboard flexes. When this stress is repeated over time, cracks and breaks occur in the solder joints.

4. Left over foil on the heat sink
Xbox 360 heat sink has foil attached.

On a number of it’s units, Microsoft failed to remove some foil on the heat sink. Several “ring of death” failures can be attributed to this. The thermal compound must be reapplied if you decide to remove the foil.

5. Deficient Manufacturing Process: Soldering Temperature Was Too Low
Xbox solder process was sub-optimal.

The soldering process during manufacture was done at too low a temperature. When lead free solder is under heated, the resulting solder joint is full of voids and other defects. These weak joints won’t hold up for long even under normal circumstances. If you include the other Xbox faults such as running too hot and warping of the motherboard, you’ve got the perfect formula for failure.

6. The Graphics Chip Puts Out Too Much Heat
Graphics Chip Was Designed on the Cheap by Microsoft.

Instead of going to an experienced vendor for its chip design (ASIC vendor), Microsoft designed the graphics chip in house, in other words, on it’s own. They did this in order to save some tens of millions of dollars in the cost of the design.

Although Microsoft has some experience here, it doesn’t come close to the level of expertise of the ASIC vendors. As a result, their graphics chip is inefficient in that it dissipates too much waste heat.

This problem dovetails in with the weak cooling system in the console.

Microsoft has gone to an ASIC vendor in the US and had the graphics chip redesigned. This move goes a long way to resolving the overheating problem.

However, there are lots of Xbox units in use that still have the old graphics chip. These will continue to be susceptible to heating problems.

Ah, the Xbox 360 flashing lights. This epidemic has been torturing gamers since the consoles release

Ah, the Xbox 360 flashing lights. This epidemic has been torturing gamers since the consoles release in late 2005. Not only has it cost us an unlimited amount of frustration, but it has also cost us tons in unnecessary repair costs and shipping fees.

So what causes the Xbox 360 flashing lights and is there a way to fix them? Join me in this article as I discuss the answers to those questions.

also cost us an unlimited amount of frustration, but it has also cost us an unlimited amount of frustration, but it has also cost us tons in unnecessary repair costs and shipping fees. So what causes the GPU to bend and flex. Since this clamp is bolted to some of the time your Xbox 360 yourself. You will be performing the same fix as any local technician would and this usually involves opening the console up and re-seating the X-clamp so that it no longer causes the GPU to bend when it gets hot. There are really two acceptable ways to have your console is not under warranty, it costs around $140 to have your console is not a guaranteed fix, however.

I’ve talked to many gamers who have received their console back only to give them 3 flashing lights shortly after. 2. If your console is not a guaranteed fix, however. I’ve talked to many gamers who have received their console back only to give them 3 flashing lights you have on your Xbox 360 yourself. You will be performing the same fix as any local technician would and this usually involves opening the console has malfunctioned. Most of the computer boards inside the console has malfunctioned.

Most of the time the red ring of lights is caused by the excess heat breaking the connections on the graphics card inside. How Do You Fix It There are really two acceptable ways to have Microsoft repair it. 3. Many times you can find local technicians in your area that fix Xbox 360’s for a General Hardware Issue, and is basically a trouble code when something inside the console has malfunctioned. Most of the time your Xbox 360 yourself. You will be performing the same fix as any local technician would and this usually involves opening the console up and re-seating the X-clamp so that it no longer causes the GPU to bend when it flexes, those chips also flex.

What happens then? Connections start to break. This is often a permanent fix. Fixing Your Xbox 360 can be fixed without having to be replaced. That’s because 99% of the time your Xbox 360 yourself.

You will know if your xBox console is suffering from a hardware problem if three sections on the power button are flashing red lights. Hardcore gamers name it by different names: “red lights of death”, “3 red lights” or “red rings of death”.

Red Ring of Death

The red lights event certainly doesn’t recognize you something except for that when this occurs, your xBox console turns out to be useless, and you will absorb no selection but to place out a assure “where can I get reconstruct for my xBox 360?”

Certainly, the greatest action is to send your console to a Microsoft xBox 360 repair. In all possibility, they would absorb a spiel regarding how the brittle soldering on the console’s motherboard afflicted its ability to withstand high temperature. on the other hand, it has been proven that the best tricky areas of an xBox console are its intercooler form and its Graphics Processing Unit or GPU. The intercooler spends extremely much influence, hence causing difficulties, like scorching the power input. Alternatively, the GPU can easily be afflicted by a flexing in the console’s motherboard.

How to Fix Xbox 360?

However, when you send your console to a restore center, you would accept to wait at least four weeks before you can appreciate console gaming bliss. Then extremely, if your console is out-of-warranty (even with an extended warranty by Microsoft), you would have to invest $140 for the restore.

Broken xbox?

There are many xBox 360 reconstruct handbooks that you can immediately designate – whether they are in the form of instructional videos or books. You can point to them when your xBox 360 console suddenly bogs down, adding a lid on your interesting game. And you can like your match once again in as directly as 30 minutes.

Okay, now he’s gone way off the deep end.

Another famous person has been subpoenaed by Erik Estavillo, infamous Internet court celebrity who was banned from Sony’s Playstation Network while playing ‘Resistance: Fall of Man’. This person’s name: William Henry Gates III, or Bill Gates to all users of the Windows operating system, the Xbox consoles, and the Zune hand-held media player.

According to an article from GamePolitics.com, quote:

The subpoena instructs Gates to bring “documents pertaining to the true and relative number of actual Xbox 360 units that have been fixed by Microsoft over the past 3 years.” Estavillo is also seeking statistical data showing the true number of Xbox 360s that experienced the RROD (or other break-downs) and data on the actual number of people banned from Xbox Live for “piracy” over the period of 11/28/2008 through 11/28/2009.

The website asked Estavillo for his reasons on the next lawsuit; he responded and wish to be quoted, saying he has no more plans to any more companies.

I had to go through the initial shock, awe, and shame before gaining any sense of intelligence. I was floored that Estavillo subpoenaed another person, having just last week subpoenaed two other celebrities. I was awed at the list of defendants he’s pursued, first his appeal regarding Sony, and then a lawsuit against Microsoft and Nintendo. I felt shame towards this person for having a field day with his judicial celebrity status. Now that I have gone through this roller coaster of emotions, it’s time to think clearly.

First off, why would Estavillo want all this data concerning the Xbox 360? Going through the litigation timeline, his latest lawsuit concerns his own Xbox 360 console having its own “Red Ring of Death”. He claims that, because of his disability (I forgot which one it was), he cannot afford the cost of repairs or a new console. This loss has caused him “undue stress” and to experience “sadness he will have in the mean time of finding one he can afford.” I’m wondering if Estavillo is trying to establish accountability on the part of Microsoft, saying that they intend for their consoles to fail so that

Second, why go after Bill Gates? According to a webpage from Microsoft’s own website, Bill Gates is listed as Chairman among the Board of Directors. He doesn’t appear to have any involvement in the Xbox 360 (that belongs to Robert J. Bach, President of Entertainment and Devices Division. I hardly see any feasible reason for Bill Gates to have any access such information, other than being on Microsoft’s governing perimeter.

Finally, why the information on piracy? If we go back to his concurrent lawsuit with Microsoft and Nintendo, it refers to Nintendo’s recent Wii console update, which effectively nullified his access to the Homebrew Channel and any Ocarino applications. I’m very sure it is written in Nintendo’s User Agreement concerning the use of third-party software. In fact, it’s written that:

“We [Nintendo] may take steps to disable or delete any unauthorized software, services or device installed in your Wii Console, for example, by detecting and disabling them through the Wii Network Service and/or game software.”

I’m sure Microsoft has a similar syntax with regards to third-party software.

On the surface, Estavillo is trying to build a case for his lawsuits: an actress who relate Catcher in the Rye’s theme of isolation, a member of a popular band who’s been know to be sad, and a Chairman with access to data regarding hardware failures and piracy. What is a mystery are his motives…

Though it has a “cultish” following among console gamers, many hardcore gamers admit also complained concerning the many difficulties that they face erstwhile loving their sport. ‘

Entirely definitely, there are about two classes of difficulties that plague, and hence brought out the demand, for rebuild of xBox 360 consoles.

* Broken xbox? Microsoft xBox 360 Overheating guide

xBox consoles undergo from one major error – they are produced wit reduced LSI heat sinks, creating them extremely prone to overheating. You can tell if an xBox is overheating when the console’s screen stops. Various gamers directly go to the towel sort out to solve this. But the towel sort out has, in fact, recognized to be a fire danger.

Microsoft dedicated one primary project fault when it downsized the LSI heat sink on the xBox consoles since it made it fairly simple for the console boxes to overheat. You will recognize if your console is overheating if the screen suddenly freezes. Gamers accept often resorted to the towel resolve as a solution. Though, this has confirmed to be a critical and a fire danger.

If you’re a Goshdarn fanatic, or you just stalk me whilst I go about my daily business, then you will know that Sam of Goshdarn has a favourite colour that is green. That’s why the Gosh in Goshdarn is green, and also why his name comes first. My favourite colour, on the other hand is red, and explains why the Darn is red, and why I come second in the typical naming procedure.

However, everything may change as of now.

I woke up this morning, happy and content. My cousins were staying, and we had been playing a little Assassin’s Creed II – which is awesome, FYI – and after they had gone to bed, I had played some Left 4 Dead 2 – another fantastic game. Both of these beautiful games were being played on my equally beautiful XBOX 360, and had been recently purchased to add to the brilliance of the weekend to come.

However, when I went to turn on the XBOX this morning, I was horrified – I actually screamed – to see that the little light on the right hand bottom corner of the Ring of Light was flashing red. Never a good sign. To accompany that, the console was telling me I had an error E37, and should contact Microsoft. Tossers.

Turns out I have to send it off for repairs, which could cost me upwards of £60, because I’m not bloody insured.

I’m not best pleased. Seriously.

If the console isn’t returned in full working order by Christmas, then I’m going to crack some skulls. I’m still screaming to myself now. Maybe I should just buy a new one. I have to money, and it would make everything much quicker. Maybe an Elite, with 120GB hard drive.

What do you think?

At least this gives me a good incentive to finish NaNoWriMo with minimal distractions…

» Mais go fuck yourself !

On l’envoie à Nokia. Fuck it. Non, mais, sérieux, Fuck It.

Fais chier. Vivement demain qu’on cause ciné, ça me détendra.

Just as I finished posting, an RSS feed from GamePolitics.com catches my eye. It also caught my ire

Just as I finished posting, an RSS feed from GamePolitics.com catches my eye. It also caught my ire, inspiring me to create another post.

A gamer named Erik Estavillo is suing Microsoft and Nintendo of America in a lawsuit filed on November 18, with the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California. Microsoft is being sued for “undue stress”. Estavillo’s Xbox 360 console was affected by the Red Ring of Death. He says that, because he cannot afford for its repair, he has “sadness he will have in the mean time of finding one he can afford.” For Nintendo, he claims a recent Wii system update had disabled his Homebrew Channel. He says that he is unable to unlock characters for Mario Kart Wii and believes that Nintendo is forcing him and others buy another game to perform this process.

Some gamers may know about Erik Estavillo. For the rest of the populace, here’s a brief history:

Erik Estavillo was a gamer who played on Sony’s Resistance: Fall of Man through the PlayStation Network. His account was banned by the moderators from the forums and the network for multiple violations. So, Estavillo sued Sony Computer Entertainment America, or SCEA, because his First Amendment rights were being suppressed. In addition, he also sued them for stealing his pre-paid points.

However, the judge threw out the case, stating no plausibility for First Amendment rights. The judge explained that Sony’s network is not a ‘company town’. This means that Sony has no relationship with the local or national government in terms of organization, function, or electoral body.

Estavillo was not pleased. He filed an appeal with the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. As of this writing, the appeal is still in process.

Throughout the legal process, Estavillo has claimed numerous mental and health condition: depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, agoraphobia (the fear of crowds) and Crohn’s disease. He claims that video games have helped him alleviate these conditions.

So, now it’s on to why this person has raised my ire.

First off, this whole legal process is based on free speech. I am reminded of a quote from a high school teacher:

“The right to swing my fist ends where your nose begins…”

The moment someone says something that is damaging and harmful to another person’s well-being, all bets are off; there is no free speech. I watched a video of him harassing a player about his name and making lewd threats. I don’t see how his commentary is considered free speech if he’s defacing a player’s name and describing where he’s placing a piece of fruit. If I was a moderator during his tirade, I would have banned him immediately.

The second reason is his defense. I find it very disgusting and shameful that Estavillo is using mental and physical sickness to push his case. According to a post from GamePolitics.com, his list of ailments have “… lead to his leaning on videogames [sp] “heavily” for happiness.” In essence, he’s using his illness as a crutch to support his argument, figuratively speaking, and shifting the blame away from himself. I doubt diseases can speak, and they are not choosy about whom they infect.

Finally, I find the pursuit of these lawsuits to be frivolous. If the only reason that Estavillo is making lawsuits is to harass the gaming industry, I don’t think he will have many supporters. Yes, the spotlight is on him but no one is going to step in it. In fact, very few people would associate with him, including myself. I don’t see any reason to sue the gaming industry because of irresponsible behavior. The industry has a right to ensure their networks and forums are amicable, accessible, and comfortable to all users, even if it means banning those are opposed to it. It’s a great waste of time, money, and energy for Estavillo, California, and the gaming industry.

If there’s one thing I’d like to say to him, it’s this:

Grow Up!!!

It was inevitable. It had to happen. The wrath of the all-seeing eye in the middle of my living room grew tired of my insolent being and swept me with fear. With horror! I thought I was the master, but it turned out I was the slave.

It was in control of me, and I do anything to please it and put it back in control once it is gone.

Are you confronted by the dreaded XBox 360 red ring of death? Are you wondering what to do now? I was in the same fix a while back and when I tried to find out what to do I became even more confused. If that is happening to you, read on.

My XBox 360 was still under warranty the first couple of times it happened to me so it was fixed by Microsoft for free. When I sent it in to be fixed I did have to wait for almost two months to get it back, but at least I didn’t have to pay for it.

I was told that it was going to cost me about $140.00 plus shipping the last time it happened. I knew that it had to be less expensive to find a way to repair my XBox 360 red ring of death myself.

The first thing I did was a Google search on “how to fix your 360 red ring of death“. I came up with a lot of different information. It took me a while to sort through all of it and some of it was good and some was not so good.

One of the methods wanted me to bake my console in the oven for 5 to 10 minutes. I thought that I had an XBox 360, not a cake, so that one wasn’t going to work for me.

Another method required me to get out my soldering iron and open the case of my console. That was not going to work for me either because I can’t solder that well.

Yet another method wanted me to wrap my console in a blanket or towel until it overheated. I didn’t want to burn up my XBox 360, I just wanted to fix my red ring of death fast.

According to most of the sources I found, the purpose behind the methods mentioned above is to melt the solder joint between the graphics card and the motherboard on the XBox 360. Supposedly the joint is weak and that is what is causing the problem . The way I figured it though, if I used one of the above methods it would melt other solder joints too and my XBox 360 would still have the ring of doom.

One of my buddies told me about the way he fixed his XBox 3 rings of death and said that it had worked great for him. I decided to give it a try and it worked great for me too. I figured a lot of other people would appreciate finding a good way to fix their XBox 360 themselves so I thought I would share what I found.

If you want to check it out for yourself, then click on the link for 3RedLightsFix.Info. I think you will find it works for you too and you will be back in the game in no time.

I have an issue with Microsoft that I’m hoping someone can help me with. Well, specifically, it’s with a relative of mine that had his Xbox 360 Elite unit repaired.

He purchased an Elite at Radio Shack with an extended warranty. A few weeks ago, the Elite started messing up; I believe it was a ‘No Picture’ issue. After determining it wasn’t the HDMI cable, he decided it was time to call it in and have it repaired. Radio Shack tells him that since the system is still covered by Microsoft’s warranty, he should send it to them first. He did.

A couple of weeks later, he receives the console back. He turns it on, and it runs fine for a few days. Then it Red Ring’d. Frustrated, he contacts Microsoft and sets up another repair with them. The system goes off and then a few days ago he gets word that the console is repaired and is on a UPS truck back to his place.

He received the unit today and, surprise, surprise, it’s broken. Not even remotely fixed. Sucks, too, because of course MW2 just came out and we’ve been talking about it for the past couple of days, buying in to all the hype. So, he contacts Microsoft to complain and set up another repair. They ask for the usual (model, serial, etc), but there’s a problem.

The serial number on the console he got today doesn’t match the one that was sent out previously. He was never notified that the system had changed (all he was told was that his original system had been repaired and was being sent back. Because of the discrepancy, Microsoft is refusing to repair the system and Radio Shack won’t touch it because it’s still, technically, covered by Microsoft.

Anyway, I just thought I’d put this story out there to see if anyone else has had this problem, and to see if anyone had a suggestions as to how to fix this.

Every Xbox 360 owner dreads the red ring of death. This is because most people don’t know just

Every Xbox 360 owner dreads the red ring of death. This is because most people don’t know just how simple it is to get rid of the ring of death. HonestlyIn all truth, there can be life after the red ring of death, and it does not have to come from Microsoft. In fact, it is possible to get your console up and running again in about 2 hours.

A word of caution:

If your console is still under warranty, or if you are not good with a screwdriver, you might want to consider sending your Xbox 360 in to Microsoft. I personally only recommend home repairs to people whose consoles are not under warranty, or for those who don’t know which end of the screwdriver to use!

Now, there are a few reasons that the red ring of death could show up. I have outlined a list for you to help you determine what is causing your problems.

Overheating – If you’re console gets too hot, it might stop working. If you ignore this, your console could be permanently damaged. Playing for too long and not having adequate ventilation are the two biggest reasons for overheating. Always keep the console clear of anything touching it, so that it can cool properly. Also, you should really give it a break every 3 hours. If your console is overheating, just let it cool for a few hours. NEVERtry to force the cooling process, however. This means don’t put it in the freezer or outside in the cold.

Power brick – The power brick might overheat as well. If you are seeing the red ring of death, check the power brick’s LED indicator light. If it is green, then the power brick is good. If not, you should try unplugging the power cords, and then plugging them back in. If you still have problems, you might need to replace your power brick.

GPU – The graphical processing unit of the Xbox 360 is notoriously faulty. This is because Microsoft chose to go with cheap heat sink paste when manufacturing the consoles. This means that the GPU and motherboard can easily lose their connection and cause the red ring of death to show up.

If you think it might be the GPU, you can send it in to Microsoft, or just fix it yourself. If your console is not under warranty, then the repair will cost you around $130, plus shipping and insurance. If you can use a screwdriver, then you can fix it yourself.

p>Most any problem that occurs with the Xbox 360 can be fixed easily. If you have a game plan, then you can solve any problem effectively. Determine what, exactly, the problem is. Knowing the various error codes of the system can save you time, money, and heartache. So, what do the error codes actually mean?

Here is a list of the most common problems of the Xbox 360 and some easy ways to fix them:

4 Red Lights – A lot of people confuse the 4 red lights with the red ring of death. If you are seeing the 4 red lights, then consider yourself lucky. Most of the time, this is a real easy fix. The 4 red lights are used by the Xbox 360 to indicate a problem with the A/V cable. This is the cable that connects your Xbox 360 to your TV. Simply unplug the cable from the console, then plug it back in. If this does not work, then you might need to buy a new A/V cable. Again, consider yourself lucky.

2 Red Lights – Sometimes, the 2 red lights are also mistaken for the red ring of death. Overheating can cause the console to display this error code. This problem can be caused by not allowing proper ventilation of the unit, or by running it for too long. In order to fix this problem, simply give the console a break and let it cool down. A good way to avoid this problem is to let it cool down every 3 hours of gameplay.

3 Red Lights – The 3 flashing red lights have often been called the “red ring of death,” and rightly so. This is the worst error code to get. The main problem associated with this error code is a faulty connection between the graphics processing unit and the mother board. Occasionally, this error code can also indicate a faulty power supply. In order to determine the problem associated with the 3 red lights, look at the power supply. If it is displaying a green light, then the GPU is the problem.

Historically, the best way to fix the red ring of death was to send the console in to Microsoft for repair. The turn around time for a Microsoft repair is usually about 3 weeks, which is not appealing to most gamers. Also, if you have had your Xbox 360 for a long time, the warranty is probably expired. This means that you would have to pay for the shipping, postal insurance, and repair. Most of the time, this costs close to $200.

Nowadays, the best option is to repair the Xbox 360 yourself. It really is not that complicated, and can usually be done in about 2 hours, if you have the right guide. Before buying any guide, however, you should do your homework. Like anything else, some guides are better than others.

The red ring of death error is a pandemic. Lots of gamers have told their horror tales of this obstacle on forums across the internet. A little care is required in attempting to attain answers online, however. A number of methods to fix the red ring of death will in reality hurt the Xbox 360 further. If any damage is done to the Xbox 360 by one of these techniques, the warranty will be voided instantaneously.

There are basically 4 choices for sufferers of the red ring of death. These are listed below (in order of my preference):

1. Painstakingly go over the Xbox 360 to be certain it is not too hot. A few things can force the console to get too hot such as: Inadequate ventilation, piling things on top of the Xbox 360, playing non-stop for a long period of time. If the console gets too hot, it will prevent functioning and show the flashing red lights. Simply let your system cool down.

2. Go over all of the cables on the rear of the Xbox 360. Make certain that the video cable is plugged in. If it is improperly plugged in, then the Xbox 360 will display the red lights. Also, a damaged power brick will force the Xbox 360 to prevent running and exhibit the red lights. Swapping the power source might fix the glitch.

3. A different choice is to mail the system in to Microsoft for the restoration. This must be considered only if your Xbox 360 is still under warranty. In this case, the refurbish and the shipping will be without charge. However, if the system is out of warranty, the repair will cost $140 up front, along with shipping costs. This choice is also time consuming, and can on occasion take as long as a few weeks.

4. The final choice is to resolve the error yourself. While this might sound frightening, it is really very clear-cut to do. There is no mandatory technical understanding, and a few guides can be found online to help you. This is really the greatest solution if your console’s warranty is expired. Be alert in selecting the guide, however. A few of them are pricey and do not include videos.

¿Van a empezar a hacer repuestos?
