Forecasters say that winds in excess of 80mph, that’s strong enough to cause damage including bringing down trees and branches, are expected to intensify this weekend as the storm sweeps across the UK

So when I am getting up in the morning I am glad that I have just bought myself a new winter coat from Regatta to keep me warm and dry.

I am up most mornings at 6am to walk my dogs, 5 year old Collie/Spaniel crosses. We walk for 3 miles up on Yateley Common on a week day, more at the weekends. It’s not the wet I mind so much, as the wind, but the dogs don’t mind.

Well all of this reminded me of a conversation I had with Gwyn Madsen, Senior Manager of Tech Support , about case studies we had for TrustedLink iSeries customers and what a great way this is to help other customers out there know how they can leverage their EDI products to ride out the business storms that many customers are facing at the moment.

By using your EDI system to its full potential, you can increase accuracy and decrease costs and time in the way most documents are handled throughout the Supply Chain. Types of documents, communications and your different suppliers and customers (large or small) shouldn’t stop you doing EDI. There is always a solution out there for all eventualities. Just as your EDI provider what your EDI software can do for you.

My favorite race of the year, the Green Lake Frostbite regatta–canceled because it was to windy.  I loved that race, and not just because it was usually on my birthday, and in the hight of the fall, an only 1000 meters, but because–actually because of those reasons.

After this we went to Fremont and got cake and coffee.

Every year since 1954, Exuma has held an “Out Island Regatta” to celebrate the Bahamian working sailing craft.  One of the main objectives of the Regatta is to preserve Bahamian boat building skills.  As such, the racing rules state that each vessel must be Bahamian designed, built, owned, and sailed.

  The event is generally held at the end of April, and the festivities become a week-long celebration.

I wish I could say I was away on vacation, but even better I just graduated! I just earned a diploma in graphic design to add to my B.A.A. in Integrative Public Relations.

Speaking of higher education, I will be discussing one of the most historic cities recognized for its high concentration in superior colleges and universities…Boston, Massachusetts.

This city definitely made me appreciate the preservation of architecture and lifestyle of old town USA. The history this city emanates is closely followed by its obvious emergence of new technology and groundbreaking design. It is an inspiring place for the artistic of all fashions and quite an enjoyable place to visit, attend school or call home.

Crossing the newly remodeled bridge into the city you would expect skyscrapers and buses and something similar to New York City, (they are there) but soon enough you feel the rumble of the cobblestone, see the streetcars and are surrounded by antique buildings, boutiques and chain stores adorn with the historical facade this city is known for.

(TIP: Driving can be a bit confusing as many of the streets are one way, there are streetcars passing through main streets and have their own rules, but a lot of the streets pretty much make a circle and the people there are very helpful. Driving may be a little confusing, but no matter where you are headed, there is always something wonderful to look at, so get lost and take soak up the city, the riverfront and the suburbs which are scattered with some great bed and breakfasts.

I actually stayed in the Boston suburb of Lawrence and partook in the Feast of the Three Saints, a fairly small Catholic festival celebrating their community with some of the most delicious Italian food!

Bundespräsident Horst Köhler hat dem Düsseldorfer Yachtclub die “Sportplakette des Bundespräsidenten” verliehen. Der Innen- und Sportminister des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen, Dr. Ingo Wolf, hat die hohe Auszeichnung am Samstag im Rahmen einer Feierstunde auf Schloss Nordkirchen im Münsterland an eine Delegation des Clubs um seinen Vorsitzenden Abdul-Rahman Adib übergeben.

Die Sportplakette des Bundespräsidenten ist eine Auszeichnung für Turn- und Sportvereine, die sich in langjährigem Wirken besondere Verdienste um die Pflege und Entwicklung des Sports erworben haben und wird aus Anlass des 100jährigen Bestehens eines Vereins verliehen.

Die Ehrung würdigt einerseits den unermüdlichen Einsatz des DYC für die Jüngsten- und Jugendförderung. Zugleich ist die Plakette eine Anerkennung für die zahlreichen sportlichen Erfolge des Clubs, der 2008 sein 100-jähriges Jubiläum feierte, etwa die Siege von Willi Illbruck beim Admiral’s Cup oder bei der Nordseewoche, zahlreiche deutsche-, europäische und Weltmeistertitel, Weltumseglungen und wissenschaftliche Seereisen wie zuletzte die Expedition von Klaus Hympendahl und natürlich den Sieg beim Volvo-Ocean-Race 2001/2002 durch Michael Illbruck’s Crew.

Cel mai recent studiu al companiei REGATTA arată că din cele 168 proiecte imobiliare începute în perioada 2006-2008 în Bucureşti, un număr de 8.861 unităţi locative aveau termenul de predare în 2009. Dintre acestea, până la sfârşitul semestrului 1 al lui 2009, au fost predate circa 3.319, reprezentând doar 37% din numărul total de locuinţe ce trebuiau livrate în piaţă.
Începând cu 2006, până în 2009, la nivelul capitalei au fost anunţate 202 proiecte, însumând aproximativ 121.936 unităţi locative. Din 2006 până în prezent au fost livrate doar 10.633 locuinţe, în acest moment, numărul estimat de locuinţe noi aflate la vânzare în capitală fiind situat între 4.500-5.000, reprezentând aproape 50% din locuinţele noi livrate până acum.
Şocul înregistrat pe piaţa jucătorilor imobiliari a fost cu atât mai mare cu cât sectorul rezidenţial a cunoscut cea mai spectaculoasă evoluţie în ultimii trei ani în piaţa imobiliară românească.
După câţiva ani în care dezvoltatorii începuseră să construiască din ce în ce mai mult, încurajaţi de cererea tot mai mare, numărul locuinţelor anunţate crescând de la un an la altul, piaţa imobiliară rezidenţială a fost lovită în plin de criza economică şi financiară. Începând cu semestrul 2 al anului trecut, şi continuând cu semestrul 1 al acestui an, s-a observat o scădere accentuată a vânzărilor în paralel cu încetinirea ritmului lucrărilor de construcţie.
Deşi, paradoxal, pentru sectorul rezidenţial cererea şi oferta se ridică la un nivel foarte ridicat, o dată cu criza economică şi financiară, piaţa apartamentelor a suferit şi cele mai mari pierderi. Scăderea preţurilor s-a produs în special la apartamentele situate în imobilele vechi, unde proprietarii au scăzut preţurile cu până la 40-45% faţă de aceeaşi perioadă a anului 2008. În perioada septembrie-octombrie a acestui an, în urma demarării programului Prima Casă, preţul apartamentelor vechi a înregistrat o creştere de 20-30%. “Diferenta mare între preţurile aşteptate de către cumpărători şi preţul la care se poate vinde un imobil construit în perioada 2007-2008, face însă că cererea să rămână total nesatisfăcută până la momentul la care finanţarea va fi reluată de bănci în condiţii mai bune. Astfel se poate considera că semestrul 1 a fost caracterizat de un blocaj al segmentului rezidential”, a declarat Robert Teodorescu, manager departament rezidenţial REGATTA.
Conform aceluiaşi studiu, o altă consecinţă a crizei imobiliare a fost ieşirea de pe piaţă a investitorilor speculativi, care cumpăraseră un număr foarte mare de apartamente în scopul revânzării lor la preţuri mai mari, în special în ansambluri rezidenţiale aflate în stadiul de construcţie. Retragerea acestor investitori, la care se adaugă creşterea ofertei prin aruncarea în piaţă a numărului mare de apartamente achiziţionate de aceştia (estimate la 2.000-2.500 unităţi locative), au accentuat creşterea ofertei existenţe la nivelul capitalei.
Începând cu primul semestru al lui 2009, dezvoltatorii au fost nevoiţi să aducă în piaţă noi strategii pentru deblocarea sectorului rezidential: • S-au adaptatat cererii tot mai mari pentru apartamente de 2 camere şi garsoniere, recompartimentând suprafeţele destinate apartamentelor de 3 şi 4 camere. • Au micşorat suprafeţele apartamentelor, astfel încât preţurile să fie cât mai apropiate de posibilitatea de cumparare. • Au încetinit ritmul lucrărilor, termenele de livrare fiind decalate pentru unele proiecte cu până la 6-8 luni, în unele cazuri chiar cu asumarea plăţii de penalizari către beneficiari. Câteva proiecte au fost sistate după ce iniţial se începuse procesul de precontractare, acest fapt ducând la o neîncredere sporită a cumpărătorilor faţă de ansamblurile aflate în stadiul de proiect. Consecinţa acestor situaţii s-a manifestat prin orientarea cumpărătorilor către imobilele deja construite sau aflate în stadii finale.

EQT Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta “Anything That Floats” race will benefit the Arthritis Foundation Western Pennsylvania Chapter.

PITTSBURGH, June 8, 2009 – EQT Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta “Anything That Floats” race will take place July 4, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Point State Park launch; event proceeds will benefit the Arthritis Foundation Western Pennsylvania Chapter.

Teams are invited to build creative home-made water crafts to compete in a race around the Point. Vessels must be human powered and should not be commercially designed for water.

The race will begin at the Point State Park launch and will end at the Point State Park wharf. Teams may push, pull, paddle, shimmy or sway their vessel to the finish line.

The winning team will receive a trophy and dinner and a limousine for the entire team at the new The Rivers Casino opening night (must be at least 21). The Best Decorated Float will receive a plaque, Pittsburgh Pirate tickets for the whole team and $100 in downtown restaurant gift certificates. The winner of the Sinker Award, which is given to the craft with the best sink, will receive a plaque and Regatta apparel.

There is a $100 registration fee (per team) to participate in the race and all proceeds from the event will help the Arthritis Foundation fund programs for people with arthritis, public health education initiatives and local-research grants.
