Saturday was a perfect day for sand  castle building and admiring.  The beach was packed but they still managed to make space for all the amazing scupltures!

If you are in town this weekend, don’t miss the Rehoboth Sand Castle Contest this Saturday August 1st. It takes place on the North side of town (right next to the end of the boardwalk and the Henlopen Hotel).  Contestants start in the morning and judging is usually around 3 PM (although it could be moved up if the weather looks menacing), but if you show up anytime after noon, you’ll see the works well in progress.

This past Saturday morning began with a major thunderstorm, dampening the beach obligingly for the sand castle contestants.  By 3 p.m. the judges were patrolling the beach to choose the best entries in several categories. Our favorite was the sleeping dog “Ruff Day”. The Sand Castle contest is held every year at the North end of the boardwalk in Rehoboth in front of the Henlopen Hotel.
