<li><strong>Netipots / Saline Sprays</strong>  &#8211; These are good ways to release the pressure and irritation from congestion, can use a few times a day. Do NOT use hot water or tap water, water must be boiled or distilled water.</li>
<li><strong>Nasal Steroids</strong> &#8211; These are amazing! Studies show they are the single best symptom reliever for nasal congestion. Downside: not available over the counter, can sometimes cause bloody noses or irritation, ask your doctor to prescribe you a water based solution.</li>
<li><strong>Antihistamines</strong> &#8211; Quick and powerful, the must have daily over the counter medication! Best for overall symptom relief. Our favorites, Zyrtec, Allegra, and Claritin. Downside: may cause some drowsiness. Be prepared to try multiple brands to find the one you like best.</li>
<li><strong>Oral </strong><strong>Decongestants </strong>- This one&#8217;s a Maybe. Good old fashioned Sudafed. Ok to use when symptoms are bad and can provide quick symptom, but prolonged use can have harmful effects on the body, including risk of cardiovascular disease. Short term can cause irritability, insomnia, and headaches.</li>
<li><strong>Nasal </strong><strong>Decongestants </strong>- Such as Afrin. Ok to use for bad congestion but sparingly and short-term,ONLY for 2-3 days. Prolonged use can cause Rhinitis Medicamentosa (think constant horrible lifelong nasal congestion) and impossible to treat.</li>
