Hi all,

today i want to talk about a interesting feature of a xserver. Using linux (or bsd, etc) we discovered how is very poweful using ssh to work on another server. A command line shell (bash for me) is the most usage program for a system administrator, and it has a big suite of tools and programs to avoid any graphical needs.

But some cases may required to use a program who needs X to run. So in those cases we have two choices: setup X on server and use a remote/share desktop program or use X throu the net.

It is very simple: first of all, you needs a pc with xorg (or xfree) with listener for tcp.

$ ps aux | grep X

show you the situation.

root      3001  2.9  6.2 211968 129320 tty7    Ss+  08:36   0:55 /usr/bin/X -br -nolisten tcp :0 vt7 -auth /var/run/xauth/A:0-5QdGTF

In my case, I see X is running withot listen tcp, so we have to found where are stored the option of X.

- Step one:

$ cd /etc

$ grep ‘listen’ -r *

is a way to find it. For me is in /etc/kde4/kdm/kdmrc.Then open the file and remove the option ‘-nolisten tcp’.

Now we have to restart the X server: make logout, access by a tty, restart our login manager, back to tty. Before procede, we check if X is running correctly, as the beginning

$ ps aux |grep X

root      3001  2.9  6.2 211968 129320 tty7    Ss+  08:40   0:55 /usr/bin/X -br :0 vt7 -auth /var/run/xauth/A:0-5QdGTF

The result may be something like this. Using netstat we could see the port of xserver

$ netstat -nptl | grep 6000

tcp     0   0   0.0.0.0:6000        0.0.0.0:*      LISTEN    1535/X

Well, if that is what we get, the first step is finished.

REMEMBER: next steps needs to be repeated every time you, but they are very simple do not fear.

- Step two:

On our pc, the one with xserver in listening, we have to allow other servers to connect to our xserver.

Someone use the following command:

$ xhost +

This one, enable everyone to connect to our pc…. may be not a good idea.

$ xhost + 192.168.2.106

In this way, we enable only the server with ip 192.168.2.106… a right way to do that.

- Step three:

We have to connect throu ssh to the server, in example case 192.168.2.106.

$ ssh 192.168.2.106

user@192.168.2.106# export DISPLAY=192.168.2.108:0.0

The second row is on server. We have to tell it which is the pc with X, in example is 192.168.2.108.

Well now you can start your graphical program on server with echo on your pc.

For exaple:

user@192.168.2.106# kwrite notsobad.txt

I hope you enjoy about that.

Cheers.

I spent time yesterday on a friend’s computer in a different city. I, of course, was home sitting in my favorite chair. TeamViewer ( http://www.teamviewer.com/index.aspx ) is a package that allows me at home to see my friend’s ‘puter screen in a browser window and to move the mouse and type in commands. Neat stuff.

This is an example of VPN ( Virtual Private Network ) software, that I have used before in unix environments. I have a couple VPNs loaded up now on this Windows machine. There was one that seemed to confuse, or cross-operate, a university and a city library. That all seems sorted now.

I want to see how TeamViewer works as a remote desktop on a Mac as the other ‘puter.

All still neat stuff.

NetBus is a backdoor program that running in Windows 9x and NT Operating System. With NetBus, there are so many things that We can do, here they are :

* Open and Close CD-ROM Drive.

* There are Shutdown, Log Off, Reboot.

* Take a control of Mouse and Keyboard.

* Closing programs.

* Send a message or text.

* Direct access victim’s computer to open another URL.

* Spy the victim’s computer.

To use NetBus, use two file, those are NetBus.exe and Patch.exe (in version 1.6). But in NetBus ver. 1.7 , the file’s name has been changed, just put the server.exe in victim’s PC. You can also change the name of the file. Put patch.exe in Victim’s PC, and NetBus.exe in your own computer.

There’re some tricks to “plant” file Patch.exe in Victim’s PC. Example, you can send it as an attachment when you send e-mail. If the receiver execute file Patch.exe, it will be copied to Windows directory (in victim’s pc). The other way is, you must copy it to all of the Computer in your LAN netwrok by your self.

Then, run or open file NeBus.exe. Then fill in Host name/IP Address field, with the victim’s IP. If you don’t know the IP Address, you can use Scan option, or using Super scanner software. After that, click Connect button. Wait a moment. If the connection established ans Successfull, the Connect button will change to Cacel button.

To get NetBus, you can download it from the following links.

1. tool Advanced Ports Scanner

kunjungi disitus resminya http://www.prorat.net

(“The terminal server has exceeded the maximum number of allowed connections.”)

This message means that there are at least 2 other active RDP sessions on the server (unless it’s a Terminal Services server, and that’s another story.). Since you can’t log on, you can’t easily find out who else might be logged on. One or both of these sessions may be inactive (someone logged in and forgot to log off), and if you’re working on a large team, it may be a hassle to find out who is connected. Luckily, there’s a built-in tool in Windows Server which will tell you who is connected to your server: qwinsta.

Here’s how to use it:

1. Log on to another server using an account that has administrative access to the server which is generating the error message.

2. Open command prompt and type in the following:

qwinsta /server:%SERVERNAME%

where %SERVERNAME% is the name of your server.

More details about the syntax: qwinsta /?

MS TechNet article:

Note:

Another method is to use query session command instead of qwinsta. The syntax is exactly the same.

Today I was surpised about Ericom Blaze again.

From the Sales Team there was an information about Ericom Blaze for Linux. So what I did was testing the new client for Linux systems. I took an Ubuntu 9.10 and started with the debian paket installer (GDebi) and installed the ericom-blaze-client_1.2-0.0_i386.deb:

As you can see there were no errors while the installation process was running.

Ok now let’s start a session to a Blaze server:

first we have to excecute the Blaze client on my Ubuntu (Alt+F2 and just type blaze)

Now fill in the blaze server name or ip address, the credentials (same as in windows remote desktop application under MS Windows) and click Connect.

Ericom Blaze Client for Linux gives the impression of a real remote desktop session client that normally runs only under Windows systems (like mstsc). Now we can say that there is a real altenative GUI based client for linux systems that comes with all the features that windows has.

It is a convenient and easy plain understandable application that enables a Linux PC to a real Windows Remote client.

Ericom Blaze has installers for rpm and deb based systems as well as java based system.

Well done Ericom!

Hello Again Anyone who uses remote desktop from XP to XP knows how difficult it’s for the eyes

Hello Again

Anyone who uses remote desktop from XP to XP knows how difficult it’s for the eyes when the fonts display all pixelized and if your like me you probably hate it,

Well this trick will make life a whole lot easier and the fonts much much prettier,

1st, a bit of background, back in 2002 when XP was released the team who was in charge of RDP must have thought that having Clear Type enabled while in RDP session will slow the session down,

Now tho LAN networking is much faster and has more throughput so it’s more convenient to have it enabled,

But wait, there’s a catch where do you enable this? well you can’t. not in the preferences of Remote Desktop.

…

With a little modification to XP’s registry (Only works if you have XP with Service Pack 3) you could enjoy Full Clear Type (Font Smoothing) in your remote desktop session,

For starter get your REGEDIT up and running from Start > Run…

2. add the following lines to the registry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations]
“AllowFontAntiAlias”=dword:00000001

AND

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp]
“AllowFontAntiAlias”=dword:00000001

As the user s4e8 explained over at Dan Farino’s page on CodeProject

“If a session initialed by console, and switch to remote afterward, it use the first one. If it’s initiated by RDP it then uses the second”

Thanks s4e8!

After adding these registry values simply restart the remote computer to enjoy Clear Type Galore!

Know any neat tips and tricks for windows xp? tell us all about it in the comments

I like dashboards. There is something attractive about a logical and configurable display of information, be it an overview of a project or a listing of computers, that makes me feel like I am in control of the information being presented.

So I was impressed when I got my first look at LogMeIn Central — a web-based dashboard management tool for LogMeIn’s remote control services (which Sam previewed in beta.) It is a snazzy upgrade to my old account pages with lots of configurable widgets and display options. As I started to really dig in to it, though, I realized there was a whole lot more to it than just some cosmetic changes.

LogMeIn Central provides me with a customizable view of all of the machines that are associated with my account (currently approaching 50) and easy access to many setup and configuration options. Central is an interesting product, in that it really only exists to complement and enhance the LogMeIn tools I am already using. The distinction in functionality between Free and Pro2 accounts still exists, Central just works with these services (along with VPN product Hamachi) to make them much more functional.

In my trial I saw some great enhancements in the areas of user management, detailed reporting, audit logging and inventory tracking. All are great features, but there are a few things that I’ve found to be just amazingly useful.

For machines subscribed with Pro2 accounts the alerting feature is a life saver. I can set up notifications to let me know when machines are running low on disk space, if there are changes to the hardware / software or even just oddities in CPU or memory usage. Being able to be proactive and know when issues are brewing before my customers do is fantastic.

New and easier deployment options let me send a link directly to a client or family member; a simple install adds the machine to my account for me. A drawback I always found with using the the service in the past was that I had to either physically be at the machine to do the initial setup, or use another remote tool to gain access so that I could then do the installation.

Another bit of functionality I’ve just recently begun to explore, but am really seeing great potential with, is the Hamachi VPN service. The Central interface makes it dead easy to set up and manage VPNs, including handling access requests, traffic monitoring and other auditing capabilities.

I think the key to understanding the overall usefulness of the Central product is that it makes the communication between you and the machines on your account a two-way discussion. While the Free and Pro services have always done a good job of providing remote access services, the addition of the Central layer allows these computers to provide and aggregate useful information back to you. The reporting and alert options really are intensive and useful.

The remote support / desktop sharing space is crowded. I still love the functionality built in to NTR Support Pro for providing emergency support to new customers, and I’ve been looking at the line of Bomgar products as well. I’m fairly well entrenched with the LogMeIn platform though, particularly with clients who are on ongoing maintenance programs. I’m finding these new features and the ability to group and manage all of these managed machines in one place to be tremendously useful.

If you’ve got just a couple of computers connected to your account, the value might be hard to justify at $299 per year, but if you are using the LogMeIn platform for ongoing support the additional functionality that the LogMeIn Central product adds to your existing investment may very well make sense.

Are you a LogMeIn user? How can Central help you manage your remote connections?

Mobilize your office!

For those of us that often travel and work out of the office, it is often difficult to stay in touch. For years, software manufacturers have been trying to create portable offices and means by which we can all stay in touch while out of the office.
The most common methods to connect to the office are via remote connections. Companies like Microsoft and Citrix created portals or utilities called Remote Desktop. Windows 2000 and upwards come with this utility built in, and have even integrated it into Microsoft messenger and Microsoft Live messenger. Other companies like Gotomypc built a program that allows you to connect to any of your own computers anywhere in the world. You need to subscribe to their service however. This enables you to install a program on all your pc’s that will accept incoming connections.

Remote desktop allows you to have your exact desktop from your main computer and access it through the internet as if you were actually on that pc. You are on that pc in fact, just sharing the screen. Now with AJAX,– a new javascript and XML programming language for the internet, new doors are opening to accomplish old tasks in new ways.

Desktop portals that do not require your home pc, or work pc to be involved. These new portals can be accessed anywhere using the internet. If you are at the library, school, the airport, simply login to your desktop portal and you have everything you need.

Some of the leading companies offering internet desktop applications include ORCA although they are still in beta testing. This offers a complete Windows XP, Vista, and MAC interface all done through your web browser. You can browse the internet from your internet desktop even! Dekoh is another desktop portal that has recently launched.

These websites, along with websites like yahoo, pageflakes, netvibes, and yourminis all deliver completely customizable content. If you are curious as to what kind of content you can add, you can choose from a to do list, calendar, address book, email, flickr photos, chat utilities, RSS feeds, youtube videos, myspace profiles, news, weather, reminders and appointments. All available wherever there is an available internet connection!

Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Connection Client is a free utility which allows you to connect to

Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Connection Client is a free utility which allows you to connect to Windows computers running Windows from computers running Mac OS X (versions 10.4.9 or later).

For those of us who help manage Windows computers, it’s a handy tool to have around, much like Screen Sharing (or Apple Remote Desktop) for connecting from one Mac to another. Fortunately I don’t have to use it all that often, but last night when I tried it for the first time in a while, it crashed. I relaunched it, and it crashed again. Since I’m a slow learner, I tried it one last time. Yup, crashed a third time.

Assuming this wasn’t some Halloween prank, I wondered if maybe I had an outdated version of the app, since I hadn’t used it since Snow Leopard came out. I took a quick look around and found that version 2.0.1 had been released in mid-August. I downloaded the new version, ran the installer (I’m not sure why it needs an installer for what seems like a self-contained application, but it does) and the app launched as expected.

The release notes don’t say much about what is new in this version, and I didn’t notice any new features (other than not crashing on Snow Leopard, which is a significant plus). If you ever need to connect to computers running Windows, this 7.8MB download is a good addition to your toolbox.

Not all versions of Microsoft Windows support Remote Desktop Connections. For example, Windows XP "Professional" does, but the "Home" does not. Also, even for those versions of Windows which do support it, it is not enabled by default. If your version does not support it, you will need to find a VNC application which has a Windows ’server’ and a Mac ‘client’.

[If you prefer an open-source alternative to the Microsoft client, check out the versatile and free CoRD. --Ed.]

ssh is great. But sometimes I just need a desktop. The remote desktop functionality offered by Ubuntu is kind of limited. For example, I just don’t know how I can enable remote desktop easily in the first place if one is not in front of the host already. Moreover, Ubuntu’s remote desktop is limited to LAN. I would love to do something similar to the Linux version of teamviewer.

It turns out that free remote desktop over the Internet is already out there for Linux/Ubuntu users! Better still, it is a piece of cake to install.

Backup postingan gw d forum lama yg uda kena gusur neh

here we go

Code:

$ vncpasswd

lalu masukkan password anda

Code:

$ vncserver

Code:

#!/bin/shxrdb $HOME/.Xresources
xsetroot -solid grey
xterm -geometry 80x24+10+10 -ls -title "$VNCDESKTOP Desktop" &
twm &

Melakukan koneksi Secure Shell (SSH) antar dua sistem.

Code:

ssh -L 5901:localhost:5901 192.168.230.1

Windows mamakai PuTTY:

Start PuTTY, masukkan hostname maupun alamat IP dari sistem yang menjalankan VNC Server, contoh disini adalah IP komputer Slackware saya 192.168.230.1 lalu Set “SSH”

Pilih “Tunnels” dibawah SSH pada daftar “Category” lalu masukkan:

Code:

Source port: 5901
Destination: 192.168.230.1:5901

lalu tekan “add”
