“Kami ingin menawarkan generasi terbaru yang memiliki fitur terkini guna memenuhi kebutuhan pelanggan,” tutur Sascha Simon, Direktur Perencanaan Produk Mercedes Benz Amerika Serikat seperti dikutip autotech.

Task: Remotely control Transmission with iPhone, from anywhere Difficulty: Easy Time: 10-15 minutes

Task: Remotely control Transmission with iPhone, from anywhere
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 10-15 minutes

You’ve probably noticed that Apple seems to disapprove of torrent applications, due to their actions toward apps like Drivetrain, but don’t let that stop you from managing your perfectly legal (I’m sure) torrenting at home.

Honestly–why would you really want to torrent onto a mobile device–battery life, connection speed, multi-tasking? Really?

Back to the issue at hand, my preferred torrent client is Transmission, and one of the reasons is its elegant web interface, among other things. We’ll learn how to use this with the iPhone, whether you’ve jailbroken it or not.

If you’re the type that likes to share your music collection (for instance) with others, you’ll appreciate the ability to control that sharing while you’re on the go. Enter DynDNS.

Registering at DynDNS is easy, quick, fast, and free. These guys have sustained their service for years; if you don’t know what DynDNS does, here’s it quick: DynDNS provides a way for you to track your computer’s IP address wherever you are (and wherever it is), allowing you to get reach our computer anytime you have internet access. DynDNS works by letting a process on your computer notify their servers whenever your IP address has changed; if you’d like, they provide a slim and lightweight client that automatically updates this information for you. You get to pick your own subdomain, and their site includes very straightforward directions here. Once you’ve chosen a domain, we can move on to setting up Transmission.

It’s simple, really. All you’ve got to do is “CMD + , ” into Transmission’s preferences. Once there, click on the “Remote” tab. Then, check “Enable remote access.” I recommend checking “Require authentication” as well: then set your credentials. My transmission defaults to port 9091; it seems to be a good enough choice.

Once that’s set up properly, it’s time to set up the iPhone. Open Mobile Safari and touch the address bar to type in your computer’s location. I chose the “.endoftheinternet.org” domain, but just replace your subdomain and domain with the ones that you chose at DynDNS. Don’t forget to add “:9091″ onto the end of the address–that tells Safari to attempt a connection at that port.

All that’s left for you to do is enter your login credentials–and for you to enjoy remotely monitoring your torrents! If you’d like to make this feel even more native on the iPhone, touch the “+” icon from the Transmission mobile page and then touch “Add to Home Screen.” Pick your icon’s name (I choose “TransMan mobile”) and touch “Add.” As soon as that’s done, you’ll see the Transmission icon on your iPhone’s SpringBoard, and when you touch it, it’ll run fullscreen like a professional web-app. Well, with the noticeable exceptions that it won’t cost any money, and it runs in real-time with your computer.

Most problems with this can be remedied by making sure your addresses are typed properly (oh, that small keyboard…), and in some cases, making sure your router is properly forwarding ports. How that’s done depends on your router, but a quick Google search will solve most issues.

I hope this helps some of you, and saves you the hassle of paying money for a task that can and should be done professionally and free (even some of the jailbreak ones aren’t). Any questions? Just ask. Thanks to the good folks at Transmission, this really is a slice of pie to do.

Info is sketchy at this point. But the Strobist Flickr group is pretty much at DEFCON 1, of course. On a discussion thread, Flickr user “Cotswald,” who is apparently involved with the company, says:

• We WILL be selling these in Europe. I won’t discuss exact prices, but will say that prices will be lower than those quoted above. (DH note: Less than $200/ set + shipping.)

• The PC socket is screwlock.

• They do support i-TTL, TTL and Manual.

• As said above, the Canon version will ship in the New Year, or just before XMAS.

• I am just checking trigger voltage safe limits. Range for me is about the same as the RF-602, ie. over 100m line of sight (I ran out of room at 200m).

• (DH here) Frequency is 2,4GHz, which is in the Wi-Fi/cordless phone neighborhood.
__________

Well, there you go. The discussion thread, with links, is here. Things are getting interesting.

FWIW, I wrote the company, trying to buy a set to test. (I try to stay away from the “review set” graft thing.) But so far, no response.

SVAT CVQ1000 Color Quad Security System with 4 Day/Night Cameras and Remote Review

Check Price Now!

This is the ultimate security system for the price. There is so much better out there but if your a simple person looking for DECENT picture quality then its for you. It is very high speen meaning whats on the screen is happening at that exact moment. No lagging images. I am a simple man in a small house 2 bedroom 1 bath so I had plenty of cables. Wanted to run the wires under the house but fear of spiders was to great and was forced to run wires along the edge of house. Put 2 cams on front door. One for face and one to see the back of the person incase something is bein held behind there back if you follow me. One on the back door and one on the drive way. The entrance cams work good in pitch black but the cam for the driveway not so. I can barley see my black car thats 25 ft away. I can only see the rims so will have to get a motion sensor light. In the daylight I can see perfectly the whole driveway. The infa red is ok and I am pleased. Here is a detailed list of negatives and positives about this system

Negatives
-Infa red only works to a couple feet!
-Color quality is poor. Its not like looking in th the computer screen your looking at now. Its color but VERY DULL. Only shows brights
-Remote is cheap but works fine. GREAT- I wanted to save money and did not want anything from outer space but maybee not for you
-The mounts work great but could be better designed. Anyone can use it and anyone with a BRAIN will have no problem.
-Running wires. Everone hates running wires…. but the WIRELESS system I had before was 100 dollars cheaper and could not get a clear image NO matter where i put the reciver so wires are a NESSASARY EVIL for decent picture quality.

POSITIVES
-QUAD image on screen. Un beatable to see all 4 cameras at once.
- plenty of wire for a SMALL country style house.
-Dropped cameras during instalation and they took the beating well.
-Easy to set up time and date on screen and reciver to TV
-Great packaging. Arrived perfectly safe and sound.
-No lagging images.
- Affordable for simple people who dont need a terminator system. People who just want to see whos at the door or that there door is closed and secure if they hear a noise in the house.

Read other peoples reviews if you havent. I did and they said to dry run system. Great advise. I knew when I mounted a cam that that was exactly where i wanted it to be. Test before drilling and hanging anything.. Recomend testing at night because during the day all cams will have perfect image but at night maybee not.

4 stars only because I wantted intense color quality. Order it! Its a tool and does its job well but you will see what I mean. YOU WILL BE HAPPY but will wish it had a little better color quality. Its not the same images you see with your eyes. Its like looking through plastic. Slightly off but still color.

I am whelmed. – Skull Fungus – Bham, AL
It’s a good buy for the money. Don’t expect to be able to see clear faces in parking lots at fifty feet…think more of “over the garage door.”

It doesn’t handle additional light sources in “night” mode as well as I would like, but it get’s the job done if I want to know who’s knocking on my door, creeping down the side of my house, or which one of the neighbor’s dogs are trying to tear into my trash cans again.

Time stamp, autocycle, and alert notification when connection is severed is a plus.
System Set Up – Douglas J. Strahm – Ohio
Very pleased with the system so far.Checking the “System Set Up “, it looks as if there’s an option to set all four cameras to switch at what ever time interval you want. However, after setting the time intervals, I can not get the images to change so I can see each camera separately at the prefered time intervals.Or maybe this is not even an option. Can anybody tell me weather they have been able to have the cameras switch automaticaly?
Not reliable – D. Rodriguez – TX
cameras start out good then blur and become terrible. i constantly have to turn the system on and off. i have since ordered a different brand. customer service was no help whatsoever. all the more reason not to purchase this camers system. Dont even ask about night vision on cams

Photography is not at all difficult. But the problem is still beating, clear, strong and concentrated. This article focuses on how to get your picture to concentrate.

The sharpness of your shot is considered the most important part of your image quality. A shot that is cut or lower quality than Look Sharp. Even if the image is sharper, less mega pixels, it will be even better. Learn to take sharp pictures is to helpGive most of the plants.

The most important part is always a strong blow to be you know how to focus properly. Most people at the center of the autofocus mode. This is good for basic shots, no depth, but most of the images are of great depth and manual focus. Focus manually to give you total control of your shot.

Initially, manual focus can be difficult. But if you are good for all of your shots will be aligned right.

Another reason the pictures are not sonet as possible, because the shutter speed. Shutter speed slower than half you can move the camera during exposure. When this happens, you get blur in your photos. To avoid this, and have a clear picture of all time, be sure to set the shutter button to the right and always use a tripod.

A tripod can be very annoying to carry. And 'big and heavy to carry, when in the desert. But it's worth.

Early this morning I was resting comfortably in my bed, laying there listening to my kids argue abou

Early this morning I was resting comfortably in my bed, laying there listening to my kids argue about who got more cereal in their bowl. Though they weren’t just arguing, it was that high pitch ear bleeding whining. I gritted my teeth and tried to relax when every nerve in my body was in a fevered pitch.

I continued on with my day, doing laundry, directing the kids as to what chore needed to be done next, etc. When out of the blue my daughter Aubry comes screaming into the bathroom where I was. I was freaked out in an instant, wondering what was causing her to wail like that. “MOM! SHE WON’T GIVE ME THAT THING BACK, SHE JUST TAKED IT FROM ME.” I said in a calm voice, “What thing?” and my daughter answered, “That chewed up Barbie shoe.” I couldn’t believe it. My daughter was freaking out over a chewed up Barbie shoe that her sister took from her. Was this really happening?

Fast forwarded to 3pm. Time for our Girl Scout meeting. We jumped in the car and was on our way. The sun beaming at my sensitive-headache-riddled eyeballs. The girls in the very back of the mom-van arguing again over a doll that was supposed to stay home. And that’s when it happened. The epiphany came to me as a sun ray shining right into my over worked brain. I even mentioned it my boyfriend.

God would have been considered a genius (by me, not that he isn’t already) had he given every parent a remote with a child mute button. Think about it………………………….See what I mean? Think of how many lives would and could be saved with a child mute button. I know what your thinking, that I would miss hearing my children’s voices. No because there would be rules with the remote. Rules that couldn’t be changed. Like, the mute only last for 5 minutes, you can only press the mute button once an hour and once the children reach 18 it will no longer work.

Oh the sanity that would be saved. The awesomeness part of this mute remote is, it works on all children not just yours. Example: say your child is acting rather well, yet you’re sitting in a theatre for 4 hours awaiting the arrival of a much anticipated movie such as The Twilight Saga: New Moon, and there you are, in a room full of annoying teenagers and about 15 parents. You could sync up your remotes in intervals and have about a good couple of hours of total quiet. The teenagers can talk and hear each other but the adults can’t hear anything.

Seriously, this is awesome. I know there are sooo many times in my life that I’ve wished for such a thing. If it ever comes to pass you know where you heard it first, SHEER CHAOS DOT COM!!!!!!! Can I get an AMEN?

How often do you change the batteries in your television remote control? Yeah, basically never. But

How often do you change the batteries in your television remote control? Yeah, basically never. But that’s a tribute to how efficient the device is and not a reason to overlook this development. NEC is showing off a remote control that uses no batteries. Power is generated using the piezo effect that occurs when a button is pushed. That is to say, when a crystal is compressed it emits a tiny bit of electricity which is harnessed and used to power this device. This is the same principle that is used in the electricity producing sidewalks tested in Japan.

It’s pretty phenomenal that they can run the device using this method. Right now there’s only a handful of buttons but we’re sure there’ll be advances in the technology. There’s a ton of use for this if it can be miniaturized. It is using radio frequency instead of infrared, making it a useful development in wireless doorbells, garage door openers, key-less entry fobs for your car, and many more applications.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office yesterday published a patent application Apple made way back in

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office yesterday published a patent application Apple made way back in 2008 for “Pushing a User Interface to a Remote Device.” So, then…Smart Remotes. Cool!

MacRumor’s Eric Slivka reports that the patent’s lead inventor is William Bull, now Yahoo’s Senior Director of Mobile User Experience, but once upon a time Apple’s iPod User Interface Manager. The so-called “father of the iPod,” Tony Fadell, is also credited.

The idea is simple; portable media devices — such as iPods and iPhones, for example — have their own on-board Graphical User Interface (GUI) and, usually, a built-in screen. Thing is, we don’t always want to take our iPhone out of our pocket when we’re listening to music (or, if you’re me, catching up on podcasts while washing the dishes).

Enter remote controls (referred to in this patent as “accessories”). Often they’re dumb little inline sticks with a few fiddly (not to mention tiny) buttons. They’re useful, but basic, offering perhaps only a half dozen simple controls. Some of the more elaborate remotes have their own little displays, which is all very well and good, except that they also employ their own little GUIs which not only fail to resemble the one on the device you’re trying to control, but often don’t provide full access to all the device’s functions. From the patent application:

…existing remote GUIs are defined and controlled by the remote control device, and consequently, they may bear little resemblance to a GUI supplied by the portable media device itself Certain functions available on the portable media device (such as browsing or searching a database, adjusting playback settings, etc.) may be unavailable or difficult to find.

Apple’s solution is to “push” the device’s GUI to a remote an accessory with a built-in display. Here’s the description from the patent application (I’ve shortened it to just the main points);

The portable media device can provide the accessory with an image to be displayed on the video screen… [and] include various user interface elements that can resemble or replicate a “native” GUI provided directly on the portable media device. The accessory can send information to the portable media device indicative of a user action […] for example, that a particular button was pressed or that a particular portion of a touch-sensitive display screen was touched by the user. The portable media device can process this input to identify the action requested by the user and take the appropriate action. The action may include providing to the accessory an updated GUI image to be displayed, where the updated GUI image reflects the user action.

Essentially this describes a touch-enabled screen, small enough (and dumb enough) to still be called an accessory, which effectively acts as a small auxiliary display/input panel for the device.

I can’t see this making its way into an inline remote (it’s just not Apple’s style to make a wearable remote that’s big) but I can see a future revision of Apple’s current Remote that entirely does away with the buttons, replacing them with a capacitive touch screen.

Future software updates would enable one to connect the remote to a nearby Mac mini, Apple TV, even an iPod touch, and switch between those devices the same way the iPhone Remote app does today. The GUI would change, depending on the selected device.

The only drawback I can see to such a device (and remember, I’m just extrapolating here and imagining a potential future gadget — Apple’s patent application only describes a possible method and not an actual product) is that a remote with a capacitive touch screen will chew through its battery in next to no time. Is it conceivable we’ll be buying a charging dock for a future Apple MultiRemote?

More compelling is the notion that Apple could build this technology into an entire ecosystem, licensing third-party developers to create compatible hardware; imagine a house where a smart display on the door of your refrigerator not only tells you when the milk needs replacing but also allows you to skip tracks on the album you’re playing over AirTunes…

But am I thinking too small? Is this yet another patent application that will, ultimately, come to nothing, or could this be an early clue to a new Apple-tastic revolution?

Remember that awesome car chase in 007 Tomorrow Never Dies?? Bond has jumped into the backseat of his BMW and he uses his cell phone to DRIVE HIS CAR. And do many other cool things. Watch here!

Well, an iPhone and Blackberry app have come out that will turn you into James Bond! I’m just kidding, the app can unlock your car, locate where you parked it, and contact roadside assistance. Initially free, but after 6 months there is an annual fee of $280.

I don’t know…my own car remote can lock/unlock my car for free (also pop open my trunk), my brain remembers where I parked my car (or I can use other free apps for that), and I can use my own phone to call for roadside assistance, thanks.

So, until this app allows me to drive my car with my phone, I will be holding onto my $280. But still, pretty cool!

Author: Jmaes Anderson Source: isnare.com Usual suspects such as external power supply, composite ca

Author: Jmaes Anderson
Source: isnare.com

Usual suspects such as external power supply, composite cables and SCART adapters are all present. We are even offered a pre synchronized Wii Remote and Nunchuk, with batteries. We suspect this is really a ploy to get you hooked and addicted as soon as possible, after all the only we can think off not getting addicted to the phenomenon that is Wii is by not playing, wii games
, it

Wii also comes supplied, wii games
, with a Sensor Bar, allowing you to point at the screen using the remote. This bar is not intrusive and can be tucked away on the top or bottom of the TV. Nintendo Wii also come supplied with adhesive pads, for the bar (we recommend not using these).

Once the setup of the console is complete, you also have to set the language, date and time also with sensor placement settings. Then you are ready to dive into the gaming experience

Before going to play you games, we would recommend setting up an interconnection first. This process is usually very quick. Once the connection has been detected, its a matter of entering the correct password, and you are off.

Wireless performance, should also not disappoint, thanks to the included tow internal antennas, one mounted vertically and other horizontally, hence you will get same performance regardless of the orientation of your Wii. If you do get, wii games
, stuck the help manuals are clear and complete, with plenty of pictures to show you what to do.

If you know Wii you know its not a graphics machine, with estimated speeds of Wii just above the original Xbox (This, wii games
, is an estimation based on our observations, and not a number to be quoted!) But a, wii games
, Wii is not designed to be a graphics monster! what it lacks in graphics it makes up for in other areas

Wii also does not feature an internal hard,, wii games
, wii games
, drive, but relies on a flash drive to store saved games, virtual console titles and downloaded channels. There however is an, wii games
, SD card Slot, which will take capacity up to 2GB The optical drive can accept GameCube discs and Wii discs, and in most cases Wii is also backward compatible with GameCube games.

Now, wii games
, we come, wii games
, to what is the most important element of Wii: the Wii Remote. When it was first unveiled in 2005, wii games
, reactions varied from shock, astonishment and denial and have since progressed to curiosity, acceptance and eventually to expectation. The idea will never please everyone but the remote does everything Nintendo promised it could do with great aplomb.

The Wii remote is one of the areas that has made Nintendo Wii instantly recognizable. In our opinion it is a technological marvel On first picking up the remote it feels perfectly natural, with your thumb and index finger hovering over the A button and B trigger located on the top and underside respectively. With batteries inserted the weight feels just right, providing perfect balance for careful manipulation, wii games
, and tilting. Much like the console as a whole the remote exudes superb build quality too, with satisfying,, wii games
, wii, wii games
, games
, button mechanisms and even high quality battery springs. Small, wii games
, details count for a lot, and these small details inspire confidence from the outset.

Moreover, one of the great strengths of the remote is how it can be held in a variety of different ways For racing games the remote can also be held horizontally; titling left and right to steer, wii games
, .

We think Nintendo Wii is the best console game based on shear fun. It offers aspects of gamin, wii games
, g never before seen, such as family orientated games and fun. Coupled with healthy dose of well though out games Nintendo Wii is the best console. And set to yet again top Christmas 2009 wish list
