to retrieve pieces to create murals.

In the narrow cobblestone street
that leads to the rotund Pantheon
I hesitate in front of the la gelateria,
wishing it was still open,
the rainbow colors
glistening in the display case, distract me.

As I approached the Trevi Fountain
I relax, hope I hear them,
the wading boots stirring the pool ever so faintly,
the constant churning water
cascading from the aqueduct’s ending
in the background.

Tracey Emin, Mat Collishaw and Paula Rego Ehibit at Foundling Museum | Art Knowledge News
LONDON.- Mat Collishaw, Tracey Emin and Paula Rego are to show new and related works at the Foundling Museum in London throughout its eighteenth-century interiors as well as outside spaces. All of the works link to the story of the Foundling Hospital, Britain’s first home for abandoned children, and its themes of childhood and separation. The exhibition will include paintings, works on paper, bronzes and installations throughout the Museum as well as external spaces. On exhibition through 9 May, 2010.

Curated by Gill Hedley for the Foundling Museum ’s contemporary art strand, this exhibition brings together these three acclaimed artists for the first time. Each artist is well-known internationally for powerful responses to pain and anguish associated with aspects of childhood, motherhood, abortion and loss. The works shown here reveal both toughness and tenderness and follow the long tradition of artists as social commentators, from Hogarth onwards, in showing new work at the Foundling.

Paula Rego has made a major new work combining several paintings in the form of a devotional altarpiece with life-size figures of foundling children in the powerful installation “Oratorio”. Depicting the fall from grace of women in the eighteenth century and the devastating repercussions, this work combines images of seduction, rape and infanticide with a specific reference to Hogarth’s famous “ Gin Lane ”, on permanent display in the Museum, as well as little scenes of childhood tenderness. Based on the traditional altarpieces Rego grew up with in her family home in Portugal , “Oratorio” stands over 3 metres high and will dominate the first floor landing of the Foundling Museum .

In the Exhibition Gallery, seven of Rego’s preparatory drawings will be displayed alongside seven works on paper by Tracey Emin from her latest book “One Thousand Drawings”. Mat Collishaw will be showing photographic works including his series “Idle Young” depicting Indian street children with eighteenth-century backdrops. Collishaw will also be showing works within the traditional spaces of the Museum including a lightbox image referencing the narrative of Romulus and Remus as children nurtured by savage wolves, and a new snowdome work made especially for the Foundling.

Tracey Emin will include items from her series “Baby Things”, discarded baby items like a tiny sock, mitten and a teddy cast in bronze. These were originally shown as part of the Folkestone Triennale in 2008 highlighting the issue of teenage pregnancy. In addition Emin will be showing text and personal ephemera in the historic spaces of the Museum relating to memories of family and lost children alongside some of the tokens left by mothers with their babies at the Foundling Hospital . While Emin’s practice is widely perceived to be bold and provocative, these works are surprisingly subtle and fragile. In addition, Emin will include her blue neon work exhibited on the exterior of the British Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2007 and originally conceived as a piece of public art near the Foundling Museum . “Foundlings and Fledglings”, a work of text and bird image has been remade especially for the Museum’s façade to bring it back to its original context.

The backdrop of the Foundling with all its traces of so many children given up for care, especially the poignant tokens left by mothers in the hope of reunion one day, will lend an extra element to Collishaw’s lightboxes and photographs of children in extremis, Emin’s extraordinarily powerful and autobiographical references to loss and Rego’s disturbing and touching new history of a group of foundlings. Holy Damn! I just finished CANAAN. Anyone who hasn’t watch it… DO IT! NNOOOWWW! :p

Two years ago, Shibuya was ravaged by a biological terrorist attack using the deadly Ua virus. Maria Osawa was saved when her father inoculated her against the virus, but is left with partial amnesia from the shock. She works as a cameraman when she reunites with a girl named Canaan in Shanghai, China. A gifted assassin with synesthesia, she is under orders from an unknown organization for a yet unspecified mission.

The anime wouldn’t be the same if any of the characters were missing. Superbly done characters with perfectly matched roles. Well, maybe Liang Qi was a little disturbing. But no complaints otherwise. Everything is so good, I actually don’t have anything thing to rant on. This blows… Pfft.. Xp

No wait, thought of something.
The opening and ending theme… Pfft… It’s probably the only thing holding CANAAN back. The INSERT song in the final episode was another story, it was good. Can’t seem to find it online though.

I hate endings which doesn’t provide a clear conclusion to how everything ends. HATE!
But still, CANAAN left me more satisfied than I would have expected. It’s just that great.

I don’t believe it but I’ve actually found an anime on the same level of greatness as Black Lagoon I /II, and yes, it’s CANAAN. Duh!

Just out of curiosity, would you guys classify CANAAN as a mind-fark? Been trying to get a better understanding of the term lately.
I would, considering Liang Qi and Hakko’s story. But CANAAN by itself doesn’t have too much of a twisted story plot to begin with. Not like Ergo Proxy.

Having finish such a great anime, I knew I had to follow it with something of equal quality or I would suffer. And so far, I’ve only read good things about Guin Saga. So Guin Saga it was.

The ancient kingdom of Parro has been invaded by the armies of Mongaul, and its king and queen have been slain. But the “twin pearls of Parro,” the princess Rinda and the prince Remus, escape using a strange device hidden in the palace. Lost in the Forest of Rood, they are rescued from Mongaul soldiers by a strange leopard-headed man named Guin, who has no memories except for the word “Aurra.”

Just out of curiosity, how many of you guys watched Guin Saga? Well… if you haven’t, you should.

Guin Saga IS OFFICIALLY the Best Anime of 2009. Endorsed, Declared, Appointed and Sworn by NaNeee?!, Anime3R, blur.
When I say “Best” I do mean “nothing can touch it with a 10-foot pole. Not even Koukaku No Regios or Basquash! And I hold both anime titles in very high regards mind you.

How can I make such a bold statement you ask?

Well let’s see…
The animation is just slightly above average, nothing to shout about except for the nicely drawn landscapes. The action sequences are a mix. War scenes pretty much sucked but individual combats were nice, being smoothly animated with a touch of flair.
The opening theme is Myehhh… but the ending theme is wonderful. “Saga~ This is my road” is exactly what you would expect as a song by Kanon. A high-pitched opera-styled wonder indeed.

Warning: This video is a FULL FLEDGED SPOILER. Only thing is it’s not subbed in Japanese. Lol!

But the story. OMG! The script IS JUST FREAKING AMAZING!
I’ve always been a fan of the RPG genre in anything. Diablo, Dungeon and Dragons, Eye of the Beholder, Dungeon Siege, The Witcher, Magic the Gathering, Archmage, Lone Wolf and the Kai Masters’ series, Baldur’s Gate, Neverwinter Nights, etc. etc.
But damn! The fantasy setting in Guin Saga is just… amazing. I actually felt like I was reading an Adventure novel when watching Guin Saga. Something I’ve NEVER felt before.

Won’t lie though, there were 2 parts in the anime which I weren’t too fond of. Where Guin, the lead character, would appear out of nowhere and happened to “arrive just in time to save you”. I’d preferred it if they actually showed him making his way instead of just appearing like that. And the fact that they left an open ending. Ass!
Though, it’s just a minor rant of mine. Perfection, so close, yet so far. Lol!

The 2 parts are mediocre compared to the feeling of being so immersed in the story of an anime. Something most animes never bother to do nowadays. They just show you girls, boobs, guns, fireballs and call it a day. No, not Guin Saga. It doesn’t even have the slightest hint of moe. Unless you call Suni moe.

Update: Crin Antonescu a declarat azi că nu îl susţine pe Băsescu. Deci coaliţia s-a format, teoretic, mai ales că Geoană a fost şi el de acord cu numirea lui Klaus Johannis în funcţia de premier. În concluzie, în turul II vom vota între Băsescu şi Johannis.

Mă bucur nespus de mult că a picat Crin. Dacă tu ai tupeul să vorbeşti de “România bunului simţ” şi te duci la o ţigară în timp ce contracandidaţii tăi fac declaraţii eşti un jeg de om!

Politicienii ar trebui să înţeleagă că noi le dăm votul ăla, dar asta nu înseamnă că pot mai apoi să facă exact cum îi taie capul, în diferite alianţe. Să vină Varujan să-mi spună mie că nu îi interesează ciolanul, dar că e e posibilă o alianţă între două partide cu viziuni politice diametral opuse… doar ca să îl sape pe altul? Unde sunt eu în toată ecuaţia asta?

Eu l-am votat pe Cernea, chiar dacă ştiam că n-are nicio şansă. Dar speram că voi contribui la un procent de 5% care să-l pună într-o poziţie din care să poată mişca ceva, cât de mic, ca să îmi dau seama ce competenţe reale are. Cred că ar fi benefică o abordare de genul ăsta. Peste cinci ani.

Băsescu s-a distrat iar, a avut spatele asigurat cu referendumul şi, bine au remarcat analiştii, se va folosi de el în următoarele două săptămâni. Nu văd de ce e o problemă. Dar, la fel ca şi în cazul lui Antonescu, a făcut o remarcă tâmpită, legată de cravata care “oricum o să ajungă să stea strâmb” care m-a cam dezgustat.

Vreau, pe lângă Taraf tv, să-şi facă şi Vadim o televiziune. Până ajunge Comedy Central să fie difuzat prin cablu în România sunt singurele două chestii de la tembelizor care te fac să râzi cu lacrimi!

8. Chestia cu fraudarea alegerilor e o problemă foarte gravă, care mă tem că va aduce cu sine un circ grotesc şi nimic mai mult.

9. Studenţii care s-au înghesuit şi au aşteptat ore în şir să ajungă la urne înseamnă mult. Mă întreb câte voturi au fost nule. Oricum, e un lucru bun că a crescut interesul în rândul tinerilor. Acum urmează doar să aibă o opţiune reală.

10. Du-te la vot în turul II. Voteză-l pe care vrei tu. Dar, în opinia mea, nu te duce dacă tot ce vrei e să-l dai jos pe unul sau altul. Mi se pare că batem pasul pe loc. L-am pus pe Băse ca să ne scăpăm de pesedişti, acuma ajungem să-l punem pe Prostănac ca să scăpăm de Traian. Dacă ai votat cu Crin, Oprescu, Vadim sau Cernea şi n-a câştigat, nu-i niciun bai. Acuma ai de ales între ăştia doi. Atât. Nu îl alege pe cel care îţi bagă candidatul preferat în Guvern, pentru că nu te mai reprezintă pe tine. Datoria preşedintelui e să reprezinte cetăţenii, nu interesele unui partid care îl ajută să ajungă în fotoliu. Băse, Geoană…vă ţine? Şutul în dos PNL-ului şi măsuraţi-vă forţele cu propriul electorat.

În concluzie, în turul II mă duc să votez. Nul. Pentru că mi se pare absurd să aleg răul mai mic atunci când pun ştampila pentru mai bine.

About Remus

Remus provides transparent, comprehensive high availability to ordinary virtual machines running on the Xen virtual machine monitor. It does this by maintaining a completely up-to-date copy of a running VM on a backup server, which automatically activates if the primary server fails. Key features:

* The backup VM is an exact copy of the primary VM. When failure happens, it continues running on the backup host as if failure had never occurred.
* The backup is completely up-to-date. Even active TCP sessions are maintained without interruption.
* Protection is transparent. Existing guests can be protected without modifying them in any way.

Development

Remus is feature-complete, supporting both PV and HVM, in 32 and 64-bit modes. But it is still young, and we have many improvements in mind. Here’s the short-term development plan:

* Clean up modifications to xc_domain_save:
o Remove ugly (but easier to maintain out-of-tree) gotos by extracting per-round checkpoint code into a separate function.
o Abstract checkpoint output into user-specified function pointers.
* Incorporate network buffering into netback rather than relying on IMQ.
* Carefully benchmark persistent suspend thread against both high and low load to quantify its advantage over per-suspend thread creation.
* Consider folding the control script into xend with an xm front end.
* Support external heartbeat monitors (e.g., Linux-HA) as an alternative to the simple, in-band monitor bundled with Remus.

News

* 2009-11-09: Remus has been applied to the official Xen repository, and is expected to be included with the next major release! Updated (simpler!) installation and usage instructions coming soon.
* 2009-11-05: Remus 0.9 released! Now supports HVM, 64-on-32, 32-on-64, and the latest version of xen-unstable (changeset 20399).
* 2009-05-14: Supports 64-on-64.
* 2009-05-11: Initial port to Xen unstable (now 3.4.0-rc4) completed.
* 2009-03-30: First release (against xen-3.2-testing).

Mi-am amintit de un reportaj de zilele trecute despre un microbuz lovit de tren. Probabil subiectul este cunoscut oricui urmareste cat de cat stirile fie la TV sau in presa scrisa. Ce ma oftica de fapt e ca in societatea asta asa zis democratica condusa de comunisti am ajuns sa ne cacam unul in viata altuia si la propriu si la figurat. Ce e cel mai trist e ca daca tot vrem o schimbare am putea incepe cu o miscare extrem de simpla. Sa renuntam sa mai ne uitam la stiri si sa mai cumparam ziare. De ce? Ca sa ne trezim din drogul minciunilor din media. Vrei stiri iesi din casa si mergi pe strada sa vezi lumea asa cum e nu cum ne  sucesc marile trusturi de media. Trusturi care de altfel se afla sub influenta politicienilor. Cica comunismul a fost rau. Ba nene macar atunci era pe fata. Atunci se stia ce ciorba se mananca si toata lumea vroia sa treaca la felul doi. Azi suntem mintiti stim asta si in loc sa facem ceva preferam sa le inghitim minciunile ca pe cel mai dulce desert posibil. Frumoasa tara….pacat ca e populata de romani. In incheiere doresc sa il felicit pe Remus Cernea. E probabil singurul om din tara asta care e deranjat de situatia in care ne aflam si chiar face ceva cat de putin ca sa ne trezeasca la realitate si sa ne mobilizeze sa facem ceva….orice. Firstly, thank god. Secondly, I’m going to spam you wish some of my writing. It’s been very, very good the last few days as I’ve found a new roleplayer who really inspires me (Thanks Matt!) and Kirby and I have sorted out the plot for ‘Chapter Two’ of our roleplay (Chapter one was 250,000 words so I use the word chapter loosely.)

There was also the terrible feeling hanging over him that someone, one of the few people that knew, would inform the dementors, auroras and ministry staff that he was an animagus and could turn into a shaggy black dog. People might look at him and his whole body would freeze with fright and the overwhelming fear that someone had recognised him and wanted to turn him over to the authorities.

Two years I’ve been waiting for this movie. It was supposed to be released last year, but no. So when it finally came, I had such high hopes – judging from the trailer, this would be one of the more epic movies. I was wrong. Very imporant details were missing from the movie, and instead of focusing on the whole ‘love drama’ (which really didn’t happen until book 7 because Hermione never did confess her liking to Ron in the 6th book) they could’ve included so much more.

What about Fleur and Bill? How will they start the next movie? What about Tonks and Remus? She called him sweetheart out of no-where, and there was no protesting about him being too old. Greyback, who the hell is he? Now, I know who he is – but unless you’ve read the books you really don’t know what he is – except for a very ugly deatheater. The abduction of Olivander, the burning of the burrow – WHY? I sat there almost wanting to leave at some point, because it was just not what I had imagined it to be. As much as I love Sir Gambon, his preformance in the cave seemed forced – and so did the deathscene. I mean, c’mon – didn’t he deserve a proper burial? What about his wand, the legendary wand that will be so important in the next book? How will they get that wand, when there is no tomb? Out of all things in the movie, I really missed the White Tomb. That was such an important scene in the book, and the fact that they didn’t include it in the movie is almost heartbreaking. David Yates, you better not fuck up the two next movies. My threat of stalking you and forcing you to listen to brainwashing music still stands.

I guess you always get what you want and it looks like i wanted  trykes.  No pun intended.

WOW!

Now about 4 or 5 years ago we heard a track by a then 11 year old Remus, the son of Mud Family/Taskforce legend Farma G, and in honesty we thought it was too cold of a kid of that age & thought Farma or Chester must have written that for him……. Boy, we were wrong……..

Fast forward 4/5 years and we’ve just caught these freestyles on line & boy, this kid is spitting pure FIRE! Real talk, we’re tipping Remus to blow….. Intelligent word play, sick flow, big delivery and of course the famous blood line combine to make Remus on of the hottest acts in the UK right now!

After last week’s bumper crop o’ starbabies, it has been a relatively quiet week.  

The only big question is this:  Did Hank Azaria really name his son Hal?  Or have they simply not released his full name?  Wikipedia tells me that dad’s full name is, indeed, Hank Albert - so maybe they decided junior should have a nickname name, too.

Here’s the rest of the news:

• In RL, I live in one of two towns that can claim to be Jim Henson’s boyhood home.  (We cover the teenage years, including high school.)  And I’m a huge David Bowie fan.  But I’d forgotten that Bowie’s Goblin King character in 1986’s Labyrinth was called Jareth until I saw a teenager sporting it on his plastic nametag. He’s one of the few, though – Jareth has never caught on as a name, not even cracking the US Top 1000;
• I wasn’t expecting former Girl Next Door Kendra Wilkinson to name her daughter Esther or Mary, but ever since she announced her pregnancy, there’s been endless chatter about her frontrunner name for a girl – Kaleigh.  Apparently, Kendra’s middle name is Leigh.  (And her first initial is, obviously, K.)  A boy would be named after dad, Philadelphia Eagle Hank Baskett.  (Hank again!  That’s an AppMtn record.)  But that would be Henry Randall Baskett IV – not bad, actually;
• In other reality star baby news, Real Housewife of New Jersey Jacqueline Laurita welcomed son Nicholas Francis, little brother to CJ and Ashley.  I assume CJ stands for Christopher Jr. but I’m not sure ’bout that.  Another cast member is also expecting a visit from the stork;
• Guiding Light’s Jessica Leccia welcomed a daughter named Ivy Lola;
• From this week’s Toronto Star comes the report of a couple with five kids.  Lucky number five is named Angus Raymond Mercury.  Wait for it – Angus is after Angus Young of AC/DC and Mercury is after Freddie Mercury of Queen.  (Raymond is after a mere blood relative.)  Angus’ four big sibs are called Madelyn May (May after Brian May of Queen); Heath, after a golf course in Scotland; Shea, after Shea Stadium and Cheyenne.  Apparently mom veto’d Kashmir, as in the Led Zeppelin song – all of a sudden Shea and Cheyenne sound like perfectly reasonable choices.
• If you follow sports news, you might’ve picked up this report (Click here for ESPN’s coverage)  Apparently, a high school senior all set to play football for FSU was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers.  I can barely catch a ball, so the idea of being recruited in two sports?  Wow.  Anyhow, the uber-athlete’s name is Jacobbi McDaniel – one Jacob variant I had not heard previously;
• As if my linking to ESPN is not proof enough that it was a quiet week, names-wise, the Daily Express announces that wacky names are nuthin’ new.  As they await the opportunity to comment on the next wacky celeb baby name, of course.

From the wayback machine – a year ago, the Name of the Day was Madrigal.  Really.  This week’s names will be Naomi, Lyle, Eugenie, Boaz and Kylie.

I’ll leave you with a quick update on search names – Esme continues to top the list.  Lorelei, Isla, Pomeline, Java, Eithne, Aurelia, Ayelet, Noa and Oona are close behind.  The list is much shorter for boys: Finn, Elmer and Remus.  If you can’t tell from the list, boys generate far fewer searches than girls.  And yet, nearly everyone agrees that boys’ names are harder to decide than girls’ names.
