As it nears closer to the conference, and Obama is confirmed to attend, it only further provokes the question: How involved with the United States be in finding a collective resolution with the other parties?

An article on the Yale 360 Blog addresses this question with a bit of skepticism and uncertainty about what the US will take from the conference.

We now know that Obama will arrive on Dec. 9 en route to Oslo, and that he will offer roughly a 17 percent cut in 2005 emissions levels by 2020. That would be about a zero percent cut from 1990 levels; in other words, not very ambitious — the absolute minimum for saving face, but not enough to save the world.

This mindset is precisely the reason why involvement of young Americans in this conference is paramount in building awareness and implementation of the Kyoto Protocol. Without the United State’s support it has proven the unlikelihood of other high carbon footprint emitters such as China and India having commitment.

This isn’t the first example of America being stubborn, it could be attributed to the founding of our country. Although if the US waits and fails to act on these issues it has the ability to disconnect with the rest of the world.

We have been working with Renee and Ryan since February of 2008. And ever since then, I had been anxiously looking forward to their wedding. Well…it finally happened and did not disappoint! Renee had alot of great ideas and therefore we had fun and intense planning sessions. In the end, we achieved the goal and “made their wedding day magical”.

The look was a STUNNING, GLAMOROUS & ROMANTIC dream! The entire ballroom was draped and luxurious fabrics were used on their tables by Maty’s Chair Covers. Lisa Takao Fine Couture Invitations created custom stationery that was amazing – from the save the dates to the menu cards. They had HUGE floral centerpieces by Apropos for Flowers and even table chandeliers. Renee is a girl who loves sparkle, so we made sure to incorporate it everywhere, including crystal drapes inside her sweetheart canopy, chandeliers and the rhinestone place card favors. And the custom lighting scheme by Media Solutions was BANANAS! Of course everything was captured by the extraordinarily talented RCJones Photography.

Renee and Ryan, thanks for letting us help you plan your day!

As we approach the end of November, I want to reflect on a miracle that happened at the end of

As we approach the end of November, I want to reflect on a miracle that happened at the end of October. Renee, my eldest and vowed tom-boy, wore a dress to Dustin’s wedding. Did she wear this dress because she so longed to? NO. Did she wear this dress because it was the right thing to wear to a wedding? NO. Did she wear this dress to make her mommy happy? NO way. She wore this dress because her favorite Uncle Dustin asked her to please do this for him. She agreed, but did she make it easy on her mommy? NO way, Jose.

We did search for a dress in stores and such, but the only comment that they received was that they were too girly, the wrong color, too many flowers, too much lace… The excuses continued. I, being the wonderful mother that I am, offered to make a dress for Renee. I was also making one for Hadley and myself, so why not my wonderfully appreciative twelve-year-old. I took her to pick out a pattern, fabric, and even add design critiques. Let the sewing begin.

I managed to eek out a pretty dress. I wasn’t 100% happy with it because I don’t have ubber sewing skills, but I thought she looked beautiful in it. It was the right length for her and made her look older than her twelve years. It was a miracle, because I never thought that I would see Renee in a dress again. I just wich she would have given me a smile or two to really accentuate how pleased she was with the dress.

Uncle Dustin did promise Renee that she didn’t have to wear the dress the whole time, although he made it tough on her by not letting her know how long she was required to wear the dress. She lasted through dinner and then started pestering about getting out of the dress. Finally Dustin relented and Renee was happy. Look at how relaxed she felt after changing.

Renee loves her Uncle Dustin, especially when he is giving her what she wants most, COMFORT!!!

We’ve all had em.

Some of us have lost them at prom by accident (Ash). Some of us have engagement rings instead (Kim). Some of us are big (Jess). Oh..wait… i mean…

There is this guy named Tyrone that works with my boss on our most recent project – marketing Sanibel to the people who come up on the Key West Express. Tyrone is in his late 30’s, ex body builder, and has a extremely deep voice. He also is very friendly and nice, although sometimes you’re not quite sure if he might be flirting? But it’s never uncomfortable. Regardless, every time Tyrone comes into my office he brings Kelly and I delicious treats. Such as brownies, specialty imported chocolates, chocolate covered potato chips, and gourmet fudge. All are amazing and leave me weighing 15lbs more every time he visits.

Now that you know a little about Tyrone, you should also know that he’s the token older single guy. and will make comments about “your boyfriend” without actually KNOWING you have a boyfriend – you know what i mean. So on Friday, i’m eating my second half of the choc covered potato chips (amazing) and slipping slowly but surely into a diabetic coma whilst trying to get some actual work done, and Tyrone keeps asking me random questions while my boss takes a phone call. Then he comes out with the big question..

“Is that a promise ring?”
“Yeah….” – i dont ever feel the need to explain the ring to people unless they ask “what is that?”
“Aww thats so cute” – this is when i start to feel young, awkward, and naive.
Then he says, “He got you a promise ring.. ‘don’t worry honey, it will be a diamond one day’”
…..
I’m sure my face went completly blank.
“Nooooooooo” i stress, “it’s not from a boy. It’s from… myself”
crickets. crickets.
“Oh!” he snaps back to reality. “That’s cool”

Thank goodness at that moment Jeremy got off the phone call and they resumed business as usual. and i didnt have to sit there and get the drill of questions on whyyyyy i’m a virgin and ARE YOU LYING? – why would i lie about that!? hahaha.

This last week was very special for me (Robert). After a long period without any contact of any kind two special people visited us here in El Gouna. We somehow lost contact with each other around 12 years ago so I was very surprised to get a friend request on Facebook from my old colleague from Holland. It was as if these 12 years without seeing or hearing each other did not exist and we saw each other just a few days ago. They immediately decided they wanted to visit us and that’s what they did this last week.

Of course we had a lot of fun digging up all the old stories and remembering all the crazy stuff we did during the years we worked together. We did some nice diving and I was very happy to be able to show them a few dolphins under water. I really hope they will visit us again next year because obviously I will not go to Holland (bbrrrrr much too cold!!).

Louk… I will keep teaching Sandy to say “zeehonden snuitje”!!

Catalog page" href="http://catalog.einetwork.net/search~S1/tlove+belongs" target="_blank">Love Belongs to Those Who Do the Feeling: New & Selected Poems (1966-2006), making for a personalized retrospective of her career so far. She introduces each section with personal, philosophical, and historical context, which informs the reading experience.

Grahn, who wrote much of her work while involved with political movements in the 1960s to 1980s, writes her poetry with the intention of reading it aloud, and employs rhythm, repetition and sound to enrich that presentation.

The poems are deeply reflective and deal with subject matter that ranges from themes of feminism, lesbianism, and working class experience to mythic interpretations of Helen of Troy and love. Many are informed by Grahn’s considerable research on mythology, and employ imagery from those sources as well as the natural and industrial world. Her poems question, rally, rage, inform, inspire and entertain.

Whatever the subject matter and tone, each poem rings with its own vivid voice that engages the reader with its emotion, wit and heart.

Why do I always get sick at the most inopportune times? When I was in school, I’d always fall ill around exam time, and nowadays, I always get sick either on the weekends or on days I already have off from work. Spending a whole day curled up on the couch watching TV and eating chicken noodle soup would be more tolerable if I got to use up one of my sick days for once. The mind is willing, but the body feels like shit.

Once in Lightroom I began playing with the color image and presented it to the subject. As with many beautiful women, she only saw her flaws…lol. So I moved the image into Photoshop CS4 and began Nipping and Tucking. Using liquify, I raised the cheekbones and inflated the cheeks, gave the lips a collagen injection and lifted the chin. I then duplicated the layer, changed the blend mode to screen and added a mask. This creates a new layer that is much brighter than the original. Once you fill the mask with black you can then use a white brush on the same mask to ‘lighten’ selectively while maintaining the images tones. I lightened the teeth, eyes and camera left hair. To maintain the focal point I then burned the male subject and background.

I then desaturated the image to reduce the overall gradient and converted it to black and white. I liked it at this point but wanted to make it a bit more romantic, so I added an adjustment layer and diffused the image to make it a bit dreamier. Once the frame was added, I was mostly (?…lol) satisfied. I flattened the image and uploaded it for you… ENJOY!

Now go make some pictures… David ‘Art’

WANT TO SHINE LIKE THE STARS FOR LESS?

GWI Mag- We’d like to thank you for your time. We are very excited to have this opportunity with you “Renee”….. Tell us what it is that you have started?

Renee- Its actually my pleasure and honor to have this interview. I’ve become an overnight fan with your magazine…its absolutely something positive yet distinctive. I am a self employed jeweler. Like the “Get Wit It” movement, I am distinctive.

GWI Mag- We are definitely a fan of distinction, what exactly makes you so different ?

Renee- Well we all know how accessories, jewelry can make your style as fabulous as we’d imagine. We tend to be attracted to a lot of things we can’t afford at a given moment. I don’t know about you, but $995 for a pendant (K.L. Hello Kitty), is quite out of my budget. But definitely an asset to a simple tank top, on a relaxed fit day. I sell the hottest jewelry in style. Any piece of jewelry seen on “wealthy” people or “celebs” I can find.

GWI Mag- A bargain. We can’t knock you there, there’s so much to keep up with now a days, and realistically, you are absolutely right, spending hundreds of dollars on “jewelry” or any accessory is definitely pocket burning.

Renee- Why not be able to look as “pricey” and “maintained” as those who have all this money to splurge? I’ve made this my full time commitment. I enjoy it as well…who wouldn’t…I get to shop and at times go out on a hunt looking for specific “look a likes” to a clients specific request. I love it, its fun.

GWI Mag- Enjoying what you do full time is definitely a plus. What do you prices range from?

Renee- I range any where from $1 to about $40. Everything is within reasonable price range. Any form of jewelry. I’m very flexible and have great discounts when “sets” are bought or even for a simple recommendation.

GWI Mag- You work independently, where can you be reached, have you started a website yet?

Renee- I do work independently. I have not yet started a website. That may be an option in the future. I am currently in NYC. I also have clients in NJ. I can be found around 34th st mainly. I usually have requests and make rounds to different locations. If I can’t deliver, I U.S. Postal service, free of charge.

GWI Mag- Definitely affordable. We are definitely feeling your move. And we would like to thank you again for this interview. We will definitely keep in touch, ( Christmas is coming up (laughing), affordable jewelry is a go)

Renee- (laughing) Great. Thank You so much. I want to share some love and leave you with a gift. Any one that orders from now until October 31, will receive a second item free of charge. I can be emailed at ridwars@gmail.com for further info (products, pricing, etc.) . Include “Get Wit It” in the subject line. Spread the word. Take Care

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

I know that it makes me a terrible feminist and an even worse woman, but I prefer ‘90210’s’ sleazy Mark to creepy Jasper as Annie’s new beau. Will Mark be redeemed? And if so, is there any hope for a Mark/Annie romance? – Alexandra
I know, right? Why do some people say “sleazy” as if it’s a bad word? But you and I must be in the minority, as there are no plans at this time for Mark to resurface.

Now that Renee’s lies have been exposed on ‘One Tree Hill,’ will Naley fans get some overdue on-screen lovin’? – Kelli
When I spoke to James Lafferty I relayed the fans’ clamoring for some Nathan-Haley heat. He said that if Nathan was ultimately proven innocent, “I’m sure there’s plenty of that to look forward to. [Series creator] Mark [Schwahn] is pretty good about giving the fans what they want.” That said, he had to note, “This is The CW, not ‘True Blood,’ so they shouldn’t be expecting too much!”
