Setelah menjalani liburan yang lumayan panjang… Yaa… kan kemarin Jumatnya tanggal merah, ada Hari Raya Idhul Adha….. jadinya kita mendapat week end yang istimewa, libur 3 hari mulai Jumat, Sabtu dan Minggu… Asyik boo… Memang rasanya sulit kembali ke tempat kerja setelah libur panjang, badan dan pikiran rasanya ga kompak deh… Pikiran masih melayang-layang ke nikmatnya liburan, buat teman-teman yang berkesempatan ke luar kota, bersilahturahim ke tempat saudara, makanan yang beragam, karena suasana lebaran… Rasa hati yang riang bertemu sanak keluarga, menikmati pemandangan dan suasana berbeda…. Wow…

Di kantor atau di tempat kerja juga belum langsung cocok dengan suasananya, eh… tahu-tahu sudah dipaksa sibuk yaa… Mana kalau bos-nya rada otoriter atau suasana kerja yang kurang mendukung, waahh… pastinya tambah runyam… Pagi ini juga ada sebuah inbox masuk di accountku di sebuah situs pertemanan – facebook… Menanyakan saran bagaimana yaa…. “Saya ada tawaran kerja dari sebuah perusahaan di Banjarmasin, sebagai Project Manager, apakah diambil..?? Dan kebetulan saya sudah tidak betah di tempat kerja yang sekarang… Tetapi masih ragu dengan kemampuan dan pengalaman yang ada sekarang…??“

Karena memang Senin yang ribet ini.., yaa… bawaan maless…. Ada sebuah artikel teman yang aku baca di sebuah bLog milik seorang teman, Yessi Greena W Purba, judulnya “Pengen resign?“… Isinya tentang pengalaman dia pindah kerja dari satu perusahaan ke perusahaan lain dan suka dukanya di setiap tempat kerja yang dialaminya…

Berikut kutipan artikel dari tulisan Yessi tersebut..,

“Kemaren gw dapet imel dari salah satu temen gw di kantor yang lama, saying that dia udah ga betah en pengen pindah kerja aja. Gw tanya alasannya apa, dia bilang karena bla..bla…bla.. intinya banyak masalah…
Umm… apa siy alasan lo untuk memutuskan resign then pindah ke tempat kerja yang baru?

Jujur, gw mungkin bisa diklasifikasikan sebagai kutu loncat, karena dalam masa bakti gw sebagai Sarjana Komunikasi lulusan Universitas Lampung almamater yang tercintaaaa ituh, gw udah menjalani masa kerja di empat perusahaan… padahal gw lulusnya di mid 2003 lho. Bisa lo itung kan masa kerja gw di beberapa perusahaan itu ada berapa taon…“

Yessi menceritakan lebih jauh bagaimana suka dukanya setiap pindah dari satu tempat ke tempat lain, pertama dia bekerja di sebuah perusahaan shipping line milik Korea berkantor di Medan, dimana dia banyak berhubungan dengan orang-orang yang berkutat sehari-harinya di bagian operasional pelabuhan dan juga counterpart di Jakarta, Singapore, Port Klang dan kadang-kadang dengan rekan-rekan lain di Eropa dan Amrik… Seru memang…

Bagaimana dia menjadi setidaknya wanita sendirian dikelilingi para bapak-bapak (pria maksudnya… dan dia masih merasa junior saat itu..), ya.. menurut Yessi – bak bidadari di sarang penyamun… Dan waktu yang ditunggu adalah saat makan siang, mengingat kuliner di sekitar tempat kerja yang memang ‘aduhai’… Hahaha… Bukankah makanan khas Medan memang terkenal di seantero manca negara…??

Selanjutnya Yessi (karena keinginan untuk menambah pengalaman hidup..) merantau ke Pulau Jawa setelah resign dari kantornya ini, dan disini dia mengalami ‘tidak enaknya’ masa menganggur… Karena masih harus mencari lagi tempat kerja yang baru, apalagi bila pernah merasakan kerja kemudian tiba-tiba tidak melakukan apa-apa… Uuuhh… rasanya… dengan kata lain… Yessi menyarankan, bila ingin resign, harus yakin dulu memperoleh tempat kerja yang baru, karena masa ‘nganggur‘ benar-benar membuat kita bagaikan laskar-laskar tak berguna…

Yaa… setelah tiga bulan kemudian, dia mendapat pekerjaan di sebuah perusahaan di sebuah desa (beneran desa di Jawa..), yang terpencil… Tetapi Yessi kurang merasa cocok disini dan hanya sebentar, mengingat perilaku bos yang rada psikopat (menurut Yessi looh… haha..) dan beruntung dari sini dia memperoleh tawaran di tempat kerja lain, yang lebih baik dan agak di kota sedikit… Hehehe… Sebuah pabrik garment sekitar 20 km dari Semarang ke arah Solo… Dan disini dia dapat bertahan sampai 3 tahun, penuh suka dan sedikit duka, mendapat banyak ilmu tentang ekspor impor, meminjam istilah Yessi, “…dan pelajaran tentang hidup dan ketemu banyak orang-orang yang kemudian jadi sahabat-sahabat tercinta dan juga saudara… Ow.. thanks God for let me working there for about three years.. and thanks for all beloved person that I found there… luph yu all…ah… jadi kangen niy… hiks… nangis dulu…“.

Walau Yessi menemukan ‘cinta’nya disini…, humm… tetapi dorongan untuk mencari tantangan baru sangat menggebu… Dia diterima di sebuah trading company di Jakarta, yang notabene adalah buyer dari pabrik garment tempat sebelumnya…

Kira-kira apa yaa… kesimpulan yang bisa didapat dari pengalaman teman ini, yang terus pindah kerja bagaikan kutu loncat…

“So guys n gals… kesimpulannya adalah, jangan pernah memutuskan resign karena sebuah masalah… Maksud gw lo beresin dulu tuh masalah baru deh lo resign… Trus, jangan pernah resign kalo belum dapet kerjaan baru, kecuali kalo lo emang udah nggak mau kerja lagi, atau lo orang kaya dan abis resign pengen jalan-jalan keluar negeri… wekekekekke… and yang terakhir resign lah dengan baik dan benar, jangan lari malam…

Menarik memang penuturan Yessi tentang suka dukanya setiap pindah kerja, dimana setiap entitas baru selalu memiliki langgam kerja dan perilaku dari setiap individu yang terlibat di dalamnya… Dan keinginan untuk resign selalu lah harus dipikirkan matang-matang.., agar setiap rencana ke masa depan berjalan sesuai harapan…

This is sad news indeed for those of us who have come to love the experience of seeing Dark Star Orchestra perform live. Their recreations of specific Grateful Dead concerts –right down to set list, equipment, stage set-up and style– have managed to bring back an experience gone since the death of Dead founder Jerry Garcia in 1995. And anyone who knows me or reads this blog knows that I was (and am) a recent newcomer to the DSO scene, though I have been part of the Dead scene since the mid-seventies.

It seems just as I embraced DSO as my current refuge and re-energizer in the world of live music, the band is now going through a life-altering change. DSO founding member and lead guitarist John Kadlecik announced that after 12 years, he would be resigning from the band. From John’s own web site:

Howdy folks-

Well, its been twelve years since Dark Star Orchestra performed its first show, so I’d like to start off by taking a moment to thank all of you that have given us the chance to play for you. You have made the last twelve years possible for DSO! There have been over twenty musicians and even more crew members and “home office” staff who have helped make DSO what it is today. I am grateful to each and every one of you and it has been an honor working with all of you. Thank you – thank you – THANK YOU!

And now to the matter at hand…

Most of you know by now that Phil Lesh and Bob Weir have asked me to play with their new band: Furthur. Needless to say, this was a great honor and the first three shows were A LOT of fun! However, I cannot in good conscience divide my time and energy between DSO and Furthur and I feel it would be a disservice to all parties involved. So after careful consideration, I have resigned from Dark Star Orchestra and my last performance as a member of DSO will be December 5th in Buffalo, New York. I am fully supportive of and honored by the remaining members’ desire to continue and I wish them all the best in their future endeavors. To all of you: “I love you more than words can tell…”

While I wish John all the best and plan to see him as often as possible with Further, I will miss the small venue experience of those DSO shows. They were, quite simply put, the best and most powerful live musical experience I’ve had since my early years of following the Grateful Dead. And in many ways, the shows DSO recreated from the Dead’s latter years were, in truth, better and tighter than the Dead themselves performed them.

DSO’s new lead guitarist will be Jeff Mattson of the Zen Tricksters and the Donna Jean Godchaux Band. While I fully expect Jeff to be a stunning guitarist, I am concerned that he may not have the musical “voice” that both Jerry Garcia and John Kadlecik managed through their playing. I have found it to be a rare talent indeed and not one that can be learned, but seems to come from some innate inner place. So while I have no doubt that DSO’s musical experience will continue to be a good one, I wonder if it will ever reach the transcendent heights it did with Kadlecik at the helm. We’ll soon see.

And I hope that this incarnation of Further continues on for some time to come and that John’s magic lifts this new band to heights unseen and unheard. And while two of the Grateful Dead’s original members (Bob Weir on rhythm guitar and Phil Lesh on bass) will be playing alongside John, the music will be less a throwback to the past and more a rediscovering of the music as the band members grow and mature. For me, this combination of musicians shows more promise than any other I’ve seen in the Grateful Dead universe, with the exception of the Dead themselves. As for DSO, I’ll be listening closely. I’m just not ready to give this experience up all over again. There were so many people I was excited to turn on to this musical journey. And then it was gone…

Andy Barr – Dede Scozzafava, the GOP nominee who dropped out to endorse Democrat Bill Owens in New York’s special election, resigned from her spot in the state’s assembly leadership Monday.

After hearing complaints from his members about Scozzafava, Assembly Minority Leader Brain Kolb met with the former congressional candidate to discuss her post.

Following the meeting, Kolb announced that Scozzafava would no longer serve in Republican leadership.

Fresno – Dozens of people gathered in front of the Fresno Police Department, calling on Police Chief Jerry Dyer to step down, or be fired.

This, in response to a string of officer involved shootings, that have killed several suspects.

“It’s shoot first, ask questions later. If that can’t be stopped then chief dyer needs to go. We’re saying he needs to go,” said Juan Avitia, a protest organizer with the grassroots community group Fresno Brown Berets.

Among the protestors, relatives of 32-year-old Steven Vargas who died when an officer opened fire, after he crashed into a parked van on McKinley Avenue.

“He was not on parole, he did not have a weapon. How do you justify shooting someone 9 times?” said Jessica Villanueva, a relative of Vargas.

In each incident, Chief Dyer says the officers found themselves in a situation where they feared for their lives.

But family members say, that doesn’t console them.

“We want justice. We have to stand up against this, that was not okay for them to kill him,” said Becky Barrena, a relative of Vargas.

So far this year, there have been 11 officer involved shootings in Fresno, 6 of them deadly.

Last year, there were 8 officer involved shootings, and two were fatal.

The chief has said each shooting was justified.

“We don’t want to sit back and watch police shoot people, and mothers grieve, and not do anything about it. We want to show the community, it can be done, you can stand up to the police,” said Avitia.

The Fresno Police Department says they have no comment about today’s protest.

The City of Fresno conspires with Wilbert Swieso (former employee of the City) in targeting various residents for elimination. In some cases, poisoning the victim to create a monster is how the City of Fresno justifies the atrocities. I know, because it was done to me. It was done to my friend (now deceased.) More.

With unknown chemicals continuing to be administered without my knowledge, the City of Fresno set my my family and neighbors up for annihilation in order to seize control of our properties so they could be rebuilt on top of the secretly replaced water system. Mission accomplished. My family and neighbors on 3 sides left dead; properties taken by fraud; shoddily rebuilt without permits or inspections. With my credibility totally destroyed due to my behavior while being poisoned, in addition to public records altered to cover up the evidence of what took place, then-Mayor Alan Autry instructed the risk analysts behind this to commit perjury to call me a “liar.” I was prohibited from help, justice for the murders, or restitution for what took place. I was not even allowed to file a report. Instead, I was issued death threats and sexual harassment if I continued to expose this.

Robbed, raped, poisoned, hidden cameras, tapped phones, pets killed. Reports to Police were disregarded as I continued being called a “liar.” Even after providing a copy of verified VIN altering, Police called me a “liar.” (Eberwein Auto Repair.)

Home left a shambles, now setting on top of corroded, clamped sewer and water lines; insurance sabotaged so I could not file a claim for anything. My home was built in 1942 – owned by my family since the early 60s. It was well-built and in immaculate condition – it is now crumbling. Be sure I did not authorize to have it rebuilt without permits or inspections, let alone on top of this trash. This alone should be verification enough of the horrible condition I was being kept in as all this took place – doing this to someone while they are a care provider is as low as it gets. The City’s unaltered water layout further verifies exactly what took place.

(Imagine the nasty water or how long before these corroded lines break.)

It was not intended I would still be alive. Fraudulent legal documents had been prepared; fraudulent life insurance policy as well.

Despite a reward for information, facts behind the “unsolved” murder across the street are not allowed, because it took place behind more secret replacement of the water system, followed by more altered public records to cover up the evidence. His next-door-neighbors lied about the facts before, during and after the shooting murder because they were involved in the preparations for what ensued. They moved around the corner and not only repeated the process, they were again used as “credible witnesses” that nothing took place on my family’s and neighbor’s properties – including burglary, major reconstruction, suspected homicides and attempted murder. Discrediting their victim (poison, hidden cameras, fraudulent lawsuits, etc.) is how the City and their mob get by with the atrocities.

Example: This man was poisoning me with attempt to kill. He boasted of eliminating his former wife and her family, describing her behavior the same as mine while being poisoned. He said I would be meeting them, “in another world.” Signatures of his former wife were verified by an expert handwriting analyst as being FORGED. Yet all he had to do was call me “crazy” – it was never looked into.

I am not familiar with the Police shootings although I recently read that one of the victims had chemicals in his system. So did I – administered without my knowledge. Turning me into a nightmare to justify heinous crimes committed against my family, neighbors and me. Stripped of all human and civil rights, left unemployable and in fear for my life, the City of Fresno made me appear as a criminal while portraying themselves as victims – no one sees beyond the smokescreen.

Not accusing, just wondering …… did any of these shooting victims reside on property that had not yet been turned over so the water system could be secretly replaced?

M: “Sebenernya mau kamu apa? dimana-mana kerja itu sama. Saya udah menjalani 2 company sebelum ini.”
P: “Karena kerja dimana-mana itu sama, makanya saya gak ragu resign pak, wong sama aja kok, cuma reward-nya yang beda tho… ya saya pilih yang reward-nya lebih.”

M: “Yang bener itu… kerja bener dulu baru naik gaji, bukan gaji naik dulu baru kerja bener.”
P:  “Kerjanya sama-sama bener, tapi yang satu ngasih gaji lebih tinggi, ya saya pilih yang lebih tho pak!”

M: “Kenapa kamu gak mencoba profesional di sini aja, kalo alasannya reward, kan nanti karier serta salary kamu juga bakal naik kalo kamu bertahan.”
P: “Kenapa saya harus nunggu, kalo ada perusahaan lain yang nawarin itu sekarang?”

M:  “Tapi sayang sekali, saya pandang kamu yang paling berpotensi di antara yang lain.”
P:  “Bapak udah ngomong gitu ke semua engineer yang resign sebelum saya.”

M: “Tidak, ini serius, kamu memiliki potensi besar, di sini kamu bisa sukses! daripada kamu memulai lagi dari bawah di perusahaan lain yang belum ketauan ntar di sana kamu bakal sukses ato gak?”
P: “Di sini juga sama aja. saya belum tau bakal sukses apa gak, wong namanya masa depan kok. Sama-sama gak ketauan, tapi yang satu awalannya lebih baik, ya pilih yg lebih baik donk!”

M: “Maksud kamu lebih baik itu apa? money? uang itu bukan segala-galanya!”
P: “Kalo emang begitu, ngapain company costdown gaji saya, apa artinya uang segitu untuk mempertahankan eksistensi engineer.”

M: “Kita kan tidak hanya mengejar uang. Kalo orientasi kamu hanya uang, kamu hanya mengejar “live“. No difference with kambing, Bekerja hanya untuk bertahan hidup, Kamu itu engineer! harus berorientasi pada yang lebih mulia, bekerja untuk berkarya, untuk mengembangkan diri.”
P: “Saya pengennya seperti itu, makanya saya resign. Gimana saya mau lepas dari orientasi “live” kalo tiap bulan saya harus pusing mikir bayaran kos, pulsa, makan, ngirim ortu, nabung buat merit. Naaa… skarang ada company yang nawarin itu, salary yang membuat saya tenang, tak berpikir lagi tentang “live existency“. So, boleh dunk saya ambil untuk menaikkan derajat pekerjaan saya.”

M: “Prayitno… kalo kamu ngejar yang lebih baik, gak akan abis-abis…. selalu ada yang lebih baik. Saya sudah mengalaminya di 2 company terdahulu.”
P: “Emang gak bakal abis pak… karena itu, ngapain saya abisin di sini? mending saya terus- terusan dapet yang lebih baik ampe brenti karena cape. Lagian bapak juga nyatanya bisa brenti khan?”

M: “Inilah yg membuat bangsa kita gak maju-maju. Oportunis. Orang jepang maju karena loyal.”
P: “Loyalitas tu kata-kata pembenaran buat ngegaji orang di bawah level pendidikannya pak. Betul jepang itu maju. Tapi lihatlah, terjadi ketimpangan karir antara lelaki dan wanita. karena lelakinya gila kerja semua, mereka jarang menemui anaknya, akibatnya istri-istri mereka harus mengimbanginya, ngalah keluar dari kerja buat nambal waktu bapak yang hilang untuk anak-anaknya karena bokapnya lebih cinta kerja daripada mereka. Tanya deh cewek jepang, lelaki jepang tu paling gak romantis. Cewe bawa tas berat aja dicuekin.”

M: “Tapi dimana responsibility kamu?”
P: “Responsibility tu apa pak? perasaan dulu saya pernah punya, pas awal-awal masuk di sini, tapi kata-kata itulah yang dijadikan pembenaran untuk menindas saya. Atas nama responsibility, saya mengorbankan kesehatan untuk ketepatan schedule launching produk yang jelas-jelas merupakan percepatan uang masuk ke kantong pemilik saham. Betul, manusia harus punya responsibility. Apa responsibility paling utama? Keluarga!. Anak dan istri adalah amanah dari Yang Diatas.”

M: “Kamu kurang bersyukur, masih banyak orang yang susah dapet kerjaan.”
P: “Saya dah diterima Pak, itu rezeki dari Yang Diatas, Kalo gak saya ambil, itu yang namanya gak bersyukur. Yang Diatas itu tau kebutuhan kita. Makanya Dia memberi saya kerjaan baru, mungkin karena kebutuhan saya meningkat. Selain itu, Yang Diatas juga memberi pekerjaan pada satu orang pengangguran yang akan menggantikan posisi saya di sini setelah resign.”

M: “EDAN KOWE PRAYITNOOOOO! kalo gitu aku ikut kamu resign.”

P: “Ngga bisa pak… kowe wis tuwo. Cuma bisa nunggu pensiun.”

He’s impartially merciful. That’s my King. He’s God’s Son. He’s the sinner’s saviour. He’s the centrepiece of civilization. He stands alone in Himself. He’s august. He’s unique. He’s unparalleled. He’s unprecedented. He’s supreme. He’s pre-eminent. Well, He’s the loftiest idea in literature. He’s the highest personality in philosophy. He’s the supreme problem in high criticism. He’s the fundamental doctrine of proved theology. He’s the carnal necessity of spiritual religion. That’s my King. He’s the miracle of the age. He’s the superlative of everything good that you choose to call Him. Well, He’s the only one able to supply all of our needs simultaneously. He supplies strength for the weak. He’s available for the tempted and the tried. He sympathizes and He saves. He’s a strong God and He guides. He heals the sick. He cleanses the lepers. He forgives sinners. He discharged debtors. He delivers the captives. He defends the feeble. He blesses the young. He serves the unfortunate. He regards the aged. He rewards the diligent and He beautifies the meek. Do you know Him? Well, my King is the key of knowledge. He’s the wellspring of wisdom. He’s the doorway of deliverance. He’s the pathway of peace. He’s the roadway of righteousness. He’s the highway of holiness. He’s the gateway of glory. He’s the master of the mighty. He’s the captain of the conquerors. He’s the head of the heroes. He’s the leader of the legislatures. He’s the overseer of the overcomers. He’s the governor of governors. He’s the prince of princes. He’s the King of kings and He’s the Lord of lords. That’s my King. Yeah. Yeah. That’s my King. My King, yeah. His office is manifold. His promise is sure. His light is matchless. His goodness is limitless. His mercy is everlasting. His love never changes. His Word is enough. His grace is sufficient. His reign is righteous. His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Well. I wish I could describe Him to you, but He’s indescribable. He’s indescribable. Yes. He’s incomprehensible. He’s invincible. He’s irresistible. I’m coming to tell you, the heavens of heavens cannot contain Him, let alone a man explaining Him. You can’t get Him out of your mind. You can’t get Him off of your hands. You can’t outlive Him and you can’t live without Him. Well, Pharisees couldn’t stand Him, but they found out they couldn’t stop Him. Pilate couldn’t find any fault in Him. The witnesses couldn’t get their testimonies to agree. Herod couldn’t kill Him. Death couldn’t handle Him and the grave couldn’t hold Him. That’s my King. Yeah. He always has been and He always will be. I’m talking about He had no predecessor and He’ll have no successor. There was nobody before Him and there’ll be nobody after Him. You can’t impeach Him and He’s not going to resign. That’s my King! Jesus.”

To end a relationship

It’s been 3 months since I left CIMA.

I tendered my resignation on 6 July, just a week before the CIMA World Conference. Finally… after all this time saying I would resign…

I never thought I would leave this year but who knew… when opportunity comes, just grab it! It’s really time to move on and learn new things in life.

During my final days, there were talks of restructuring going on in CIMA, starting with CIMA UK. I was telling myself, soon enough it will be the International division’s turn. I looked around the conference table at everyone present during Andrew Harding’s briefing. They really needed to get rid of deadwoods, big time!

Let’s see how it goes… they will soon realise nothing comes easy and nobody gets away with shit they’ve been playing all along.

There are so many ‘Why’s in life that remain unanswered. As you grow, you go through this phase where they begin to unfold, sometimes slowly, letting the questions sink in, giving you time to understand what it is that your questioning, and sometimes at this bewildering rate, one after the other, like stones being hurled at you by a mob, leaving you totally disoriented. Then you go through this phase where you sit yourself down, give yourself the ‘me time’ to ponder over those questions to try and arrive at answers. And God knows the depths and heights you are ready to reach in your determined efforts to find the evasive answers. Oh Why, just Why??!! The roller coaster ride your mind takes you on, the emotional upheavals that you go through, the sleepless nights you spend – all in an attempt to answer one ‘Why’. All your life you’ve been told not to give up, to always give your best to everything you do and right around the bend awaits what you’ve been toiling so hard to achieve. And so, you apply the same here, and sit yourself on yet another roller coaster, yet another emotional upheaval, yet another sleepless night in yet another attempt to answer the ‘Why’. If only you were also taught of the proviso or the exception to the rule. Try, try, try and you will succeed, PROVIDED it is not the answer to a ‘Why’ of life that you are trying to achieve. How was this lesson not taught? Or did you just conveniently ignore it when it was? But well, eventually, you reach the next phase and find yourself  staring resignation in the face– you’ve resigned yourself to where life has taken you, resigned to the fact that there may (you still want to hold on to the ‘may’), after all, be no answer , resigned to the fact that some things are just the way they are and that is how they will always be! It’s quite simple, you think. No questions asked, no answers required.  And so, as they say, life goes on, and you continue living it, all the while still hoping (things once learnt, cannot be unlearnt, and you will keep trying) that maybe someday, the Powers That Be will reveal, in a flash, the bigger picture and be merciful enough to answer atleast a couple of your why’s, if not all. Wait! What is that? Did you just see another Why making its way through that door? Oh well, no big deal. You’ve learnt better and know better. You’ve made your peace with it right at the threshold.
