HAPPY FRIDAY! I pray all is well with everyone, and you’re enjoying the end of another

HAPPY FRIDAY!

I pray all is well with everyone, and you’re enjoying the end of another workweek (for most). I’m doing great, TGIF!! Celebrating the beginning of the weekend, and the beginning of a new era. I’ve been wanted to go Roller Skating, when was the last time you did that? My Aunt is having her daughter’s birthday party at the skating rink, I think I’m more excited then the kids. I went two years ago for my niece’s birthday and had a good time, once I was able to keep my balance. It’s fun, and a very good source of exercise. It’s funny how when we were children things seemed so easy, but as we get older (and out of shape), we go into these things thinking they’re going to be the same, but the next morning we realize we were wrong. I had that experience with bike riding, and skating, it’s not as easy as it was when I was a younger. Have a wonderful weekend, the weather is supposed to be nice with plenty of sunshine, go out and enjoy it while you can. Don’t forget the big game is tomorrow at Montgomery Blair High School 3:00pm. It’s going to be a big one, so come early and enjoy the festivities. Be blessed family!

Today’s scriptures are about our Eternal life through Christ. Do you know Jesus, and have you earnestly received Him as your personal Lord and Savior? If your answer is no, then what will happen to you when you die? Do you believe in Heaven and Hell? Death is inevitable for all of us, and since we have a Spirit living inside of our body, what happens to our Spirit? Some people can answer that question with full assurance, and some people honestly don’t know the answer. Maybe you joined a church with your parents when you were younger, and think you’re saved but you really aren’t sure. Maybe you joined a church during alter call but never prayed and asked Jesus to come into your heart. Maybe you did say that prayer years ago, but have sinned so much that you aren’t sure if you’re still saved. These are very common questions we ask ourselves. If you aren’t sure of your Salvation, then take a few moments to pray: Father God, I stand before you with a humble heart, I am a sinner, please forgive me of my sins and allow Jesus to come into my Heart as Lord and Savior. Thank You for Your many wonderful blessings, and Your Saving grace, in Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen. This is all you need to enter into the Kingdom of God, Jesus said, “go and sin no more”. We all know the most quoted verse John 3:16: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Another important verse is John 14:6: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Jesus holds the only key to Heaven! He said: “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen (Matthew 28:18-20). If you believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins, and was resurrected on the third day then He’ll be with you forever. He’s in Heaven with God, and He’ll come back to receive all who believe in Him, in due time. We won’t know the day or the hour of His return, so it’s important to make sure that the blood seals your Salvation. There are so many people that say, “I’m a sinner and I don’t know if God will take me this way”. I’ve also heard, “I’ll wait until I get my life right, before I get saved”. If we were all perfect then there is no need for Jesus. He said come as you are, and He will change your life for the better. Once you’re Saved, the only way to lose that Salvation is through unbelief in Jesus’ Holy Spirit (Matthew 12:32-32). Everything else will be forgiven as soon as you confess and ask. If Jesus returns tomorrow we will be resurrected and taken to Heaven to live all Eternity in peaceful bliss. If he doesn’t come tomorrow, don’t worry He will. Maybe not in our lifetime, so when we physically die, our Spirit will go to Heaven; it’s written “absent from the body present with the Lord”. Nobody really like to talk about death, but it’s a reality that we all shall face, and it’s our duty as Christians to make sure everyone is prepared for it. Paul said: For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. (2 Cor. 5:1) When you’re life is right with God, you’re properly equipped to face anything in life, or death. My favorite verses today are: God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. (1 John 2:11-12)

HAPPY TUESDAY!

I pray all is well with everyone, and you’re enjoying this “Terrific Tuesday”. I’m doing well, but wishing I could still be at home in bed. It’s really gray and raining out, and that’s a recipe for sleep. I’m already looking forward to the weekend, as usual. My Dad’s birthday starts tomorrow, and ends on Thursday the 29th (long story). He’s doing well, really enjoying his job, he and my sister work together, and they help the mentally disabled live a somewhat “normal life”, by helping them get jobs, and assisting them through their workday. It’s a wonderful and rewarding position to have, and they’re both very good at it. It’s truly a blessing to have the Spirit of a Servant, which is a character trait of our Lord Jesus Christ. Please pray for my co-worker who’s been nursing her sick son over the last few days, he’s okay, just fighting a cold/flu. Also pray for another co-worker’s Mom, who’s sick in the hospital; prayers for a speedy recovery and a good rehabilitation facility. Thanks again for your prayers, have a wonderful day; be blessed family!

Today’s scriptures are about the healing power of Jesus Christ. We are healed by the magnificent power and mercy of Jesus. There are several accounts of healing by Jesus and His disciples, in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. In most cases Jesus asked His followers if they believed they could be healed. Jesus could see right through people, and what He saw was their heart. The act of healing or being healed is a gift by grace. Sickness is a part of life for some people, and we’re afflicted because of a direct penalty of sin, fear, or a lack of Faith. In the bible it’s recorded that when people heard Jesus was coming to their part of town, they came from miles around to see Him. It’s written in Matthew 14:35-36: And when the men of that place recognized Him, they sent out into all that surrounding region, brought to Him all who were sick, and begged Him that they might only touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched it were made perfectly well. These people had so much Faith in Him, because of what they’d heard He could do, and that Faith and persistence paid off. Jesus is not far away, and we don’t have to wait until He comes to town to receive healing, because He lives in our heart. We have the healing power of the Holy Spirit ready to be used anytime we need Him. We have the Power in His Name to heal others, because we are His disciples. We must be sure do our best to maintain our Righteousness. When we sin, we must confess and repent as soon as possible. God cannot look on sin, so it’s important to carefully weigh our decisions, and use haste. There are consequences to every action, whether negative or positive. There are some diseases that are “irreversible” according to world, but God is the ruler of all things. When we pray and ask to be healed, we must stand on Faith. We must continue our walk ask if we’re already healed. We must claim it in the Name of Jesus and it will be done. In today’s world, people depend more on medicine and doctors for healing. As we discussed yesterday, God is above anything scientific. God has the last say, but be very careful not to test Him. Some of us push the limits, and live a reckless life, but expect to be healthy and vibrant. We will pay for our actions, and I speak from experience. A few years ago, I stayed in my doctor’s office. I was always in poor health. At one time, I was taking at least 8 different medicines a day. That’s a lot for a seemingly healthy 25-year-old woman. I was indirectly killing myself, and God called me to change my ways. I begged to be healed, and He answered my cry, but first I needed to submit. Over the last year, I’ve noticed that all of my major issues have subsided tremendously. No more pills, and quarterly doctor’s visits. God is Awesome! When we let go of self, and take on the mind of Jesus, we’ll begin to stand on His promises. We could take some lessons from Job, even when he was afflicted he kept Faith in God. If you don’t know Jesus as your Savior, then get to know Him. If you’ve lost the connection with Him then you cannot receive healing, or heal anyone else, until you rekindle your relationship. You have the power by the blood of the Lamb; the question is do you believe it? Can you imagine the changes we could make, with a little Faith? My favorite verse today is: Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses. (Matthew 8:17)

Acts 17:16 Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him when he saw that the city was given over to idols. 17Therefore he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and with the Gentile worshipers, and in the marketplace daily with those who happened to be there. 18Then certain Epicurean and Stoic philosophers encountered him. And some said, “What does this babbler want to say?” Others said, “He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign gods,” because he preached to them Jesus and the resurrection. 19And they took him and brought him to the Areopagus, saying, “May we know what this new doctrine is of which you speak? 20For you are bringing some strange things to our ears. Therefore we want to know what these things mean.” 21For all the Athenians and the foreigners who were there spent their time in nothing else but either to tell or to hear some new thing. 22Then Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, “Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious; 23for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription:TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you.”

The people of Athens had rows and rows of altars honoring literally scores of gods. Paul was walking along this causeway noticing all the idols and their worshippers when he happened upon the altar of The Unknown God. He was intrigued by this. These people were even trying to worship the one true God, Jesus, without even knowing who He was.

We are so like this. How many altars do we have in our lives; lined up all in a neat row in accordance with their importance to us. NOT ME! You say. Well let me ask you do you ever, ever, ever put anything before Jesus? If you do then you are just like the Athenians.

I’ve done it and once you let one thing come before Jesus then suddenly it’s easier to let others come before Him. Before you know it you have a line of altars you worship at before you come to Jesus; who has become The Unknown God. You see when you have all this before Him you no longer know who He is and in turn He no longer knows you.

Has Jesus become The Unknown God?

Thank you to Evan Staehle for the following devotion use on here. It was so well written that I didnt want to expound. Be blessed today and enjoy the reading. Hopefully it will move your heart. – L J

————————

“While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples and asked them, ‘Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?’ They answered, ‘No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.’ So Paul asked, ‘Then what baptism did you receive?’ ‘John’s baptism,’ they replied. Paul said, ‘John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.’ On hearing this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. There were about twelve men in all.” – Acts 19:1-7

There are a lot of people out there (Christians and non-Christians alike) that seem to have…well, an incomplete knowledge of the gospel, and Christ. By that I mean, there may be a believer who understands why people need to be saved, yet thinks that to be saved people just have to “do the right thing”. They may not verbalize this, but their lives reflect that line of thinking. A lot of professing Christians out there act like this, seeming to follow a form of godliness or legalism than Christ Jesus. Part of that may just be due to the fact that they have an incomplete understanding.

The disciples at Ephesus in the passage above were such people. They understood that they needed to turn from sin, and that Jesus was the promised Messiah. They didn’t understand who the Holy Spirit is, or even the significance of Jesus’ death and resurrection. They thought repenting of sin was enough, and didn’t know that they needed to turn to Christ to be saved. In short, they thought they were “good” because they cleaned up there lives, but they didn’t really turn to Jesus because they didn’t know they had too. What Paul did was instruct them in the Truth, and help fill in the gaps in their understanding.

I used to be like this when I was younger. I must have prayed the prayer of salvation dozens of times, because I lacked complete understanding. I thought you were to pray the prayer, and if you meant it enough, you’d feel different. You’d feel some kind of change. When I didn’t feel different, I just assumed I didn’t really mean the prayer, or didn’t mean it enough, so I would get off my knees and go on with my day feeling like a failure that I couldn’t get the whole salvation thing right. I always hoped I would mean it more when I prayed the next time. But I was placing faith in faith, and placing it in myself. I thought to get saved, you just had to really concentrate hard and mean that prayer of salvation when you prayed it. What I didn’t understand was that salvation is not a sentence.

Do you feel like you have incomplete knowledge of Christ or the gospel? Do you feel like some of the examples described above, or the disciples in the passage, walking around thinking you’re “good” but in reality you’re not? What do you feel you’re lacking? What will it take for you to see the Truth, to believe it?

Thank you again Evan for letting the Lord use you as a messenger of His truth!

“With Jay-Z releasing the “Death Of Auto-tune”, I think it is important for me to give a different perspective on the usage of Auto-tune. Although I do agree with what he is saying in the song, I feel that is only one side of the story. I have been using this effect for years now in producing/mixing records, and when Auto-tune is used correctly, it can be a wonderful addition to a song. Also, the effect has been key in developing a new sound for the next generation of urban artists. Hip Hop has always been a forum for challenging the “status quo”. That being said, this is in no way intended to be a Jay diss record, simply questioning his reasons for putting out the song and promoting it as the “Death” of a program being used in the next generation of popular music. ——Woody

With speculation rampant over the possible role drugs played in the sudden death of pop icon Michael Jackson, a doctor involved in medically treating the singer five years ago says Jackson, at that time, exhibited evidence of possible illicit drug use – specifically, signs of taking drugs intravenously and through snorting.

Although the physician, hospital and city are known to WND, they’re being withheld from publication at the source’s request since he was not authorized to talk to the media on the subject.

“There were almost no veins left on his arms when he came into the hospital,” said the doctor, who was involved in treating Jackson for two days in 2004, when the pop icon came in complaining of extreme foot pain and demanding painkillers.

“Eventually we found a place to start an IV,” the source said.

Is your favorite band singing Satan’s tune? 3-hour DVD reveals who has sold their souls for Rock n Roll

He said Jackson entered the hospital anxious and very distraught, but that doctors there could find no evidence the foot pain was real. They feared he was attempting to score painkillers.

For treatment, doctors administered Tranxene, an anti-anxiety agent.

Jackson asked to be admitted to the hospital and administered sleep medication.

“He said he had trouble sleeping and just wanted to go to sleep,” the physician told WND.

ackson was admitted and stayed at the hospital for two days, where he was treated for anxiety and sleep deprivation, he said.

Jackson evidenced collapsed veins and needle marks in both his arms, signs of possible illicit drug use, the source told WND.

Also, he said there was strong evidence Jackson had been regularly snorting drugs – evidence that takes into account possible scarring from reconstructive nasal surgery.

The episode may help shed light on Jackson’s medical history and possible troubles leading to his untimely demise two days ago. Although complete autopsy and blood results may be weeks away, early speculation is focusing on painkillers as causing or contributing to his death.

Celebrity website TMZ.com quoted a Jackson family member as saying the pop superstar was receiving a daily dose of Demerol, a morphine-like pain medication.

According to reports, Jackson’s medical treatment is now the focus of a police investigation, with law enforcement officials seeking to interview one of Jackson’s doctors and reportedly seizing a physician’s car they said may contain drugs or other evidence.

Police spokeswoman Karen Rayner told the Associated Press police towed a BMW from Jackson’s rented California home “because it may contain medications or other evidence that may assist the coroner in determining the cause of death.”

Rayner said the car belongs to one of Jackson’s doctors whom police wanted to interview. She said she did not know the doctor’s identity and stressed the doctor was not under criminal investigation.

One of Jackson’s doctors was reportedly in the house with the pop star when he stopped breathing and suffered an apparent cardiac arrest

Well, I lied when I said I wasn’t going to review - that wasn’t The Enantiomorphic God,

Well, I lied when I said I wasn’t going to review - that wasn’t The Enantiomorphic God, it was the enantiomorph mimicking my behaviour – so there, beat that one! I couldn’t resist, though. I managed to scrape through this week-end alive, just enough. The homework’s been a total bitch, but I’ve got most of it under the belt, so to speak.

[Eats pie]

No, it’s not emotional-eating…

"Conditions" - 'The Temper Trap'

In some ways, I’ll have to agree with my counterpart on this one. I think we were sorely disappointed with “Conditions” for the simple reason: we demanded EPIC.

“What constitutes epic?”

I think that’s a question we’ve all been asking ourselves for many years. I mean, when we listen to a single like “Sweet Disposition” we’re drooling on the sidelines, begging for more. We expect satisfaction, disappointment being the only exception. And it’s not that I don’t like “Conditions”, it’s got flaws like any other album when you look at it in fine-detail. In some respects, I don’t think there’s an album out there that’s universally loved by all. We’re all unique, we’re all individual, and we’ve all got different likes and dislikes when it comes to music. Otherwise we’d just have one genre… one horrible, unsophisticated genre…

… Probably pop…

… But that’s besides the point. ‘The Temper Trap’ have all the workings of a good-band, and this debut of theirs, “Conditions”, has got the potential to become O-so-much-more! Potential is what makes the world go round, peoples, and it’s this same potential that defines a band, that makes a band, and that’s the stuff of legends. ‘Queen’ had it, ‘ACDC’ have it, it’s as easy to manipulate as the force, guys…

[lifts computer with mind]

See!

And not that any of this should dissuade any of you from going out and listening, or even buying, “Conditions”, because, compared to some of the EP’s and debut’s I’ve listened to over the past six-months, “Conditions” has got some real uppers; conversely, just as many downers. I mean, you can see the potential in “Sweet Disposition” itself, “Science Of Fear” and “Love Lost”. They’re catchy, upbeat, the riffs are working, the vocals are brilliant. And although I think the lyrics leave a lot to be desired, they’re clean, they’re audible.

It’s a rare album for the simple sake, it grows on you. I’ve probably played it about ten-fifteen-times by now, and I just about understand the meaning of the universe. Well, not literally, just metaphorically – I understand the universe of “Conditions”, I understand the complexity of their greatest tracks, and the downfalls of the rest. Each and every song has its place, although at first glance, they seemed ill-performed. Michael Hodder said that genre-wise these guys weren’t breaking much of a boundary, and that’s about it – but if a band can pull of a decent pop-rock sound, they’re sure to make it big…

“Conditions” opens with “Love Lost” – the elec. organ/keyboard, the synth clap. It all brings you in, it’s all meant to start off soft. The pace is moderate, with the lyrics “A love was lost… but now we’ve found it…” It’s got the elements of “Sweet Disposition” in the music, it’s really easy to tell which tracks, by now, have ‘TTT’ written all over it. Sudden crescendos bring waves of high, while intimate vocals bring you in close, one-on-one. It’s the typical-track-template, I’m sad to say, that brings us “Love Lost”:

quiet + lyrics + sudden crescendo + loud finish = song 1

It works nearly 99.9% of the time, hence ‘Britney Spears’- that, and if you sleep with enough people, you can acheive anything!

[crickets sound]

“Rest” follows “Love Lost”, and I think it’s a weak following: “…. ooooooohoohhhhhh baby….” isn’t a great introduction to the track. The loud-aspect comes back in, and I think ‘TTT’ over-do it a bit here. We get the picture, you guys are fantastic, don’t flaunt it too much or you’ll pull a muscle. It’s not my particular favourite, I don’t quite know why, but it just doesn’t click with me…

“Sweet Disposition”

….. Oh…. “Sweeeeeeeeeet….. Dissssss….. po…. siition…..”

The riff, I can’t get enough of it. The voice, the lyrics. It all works. It’s what drew me to ‘TTT’in the first place, it’s that potential kicking in. Nothing’s overdone – there’s elegantly-simple-layers at work here. It’s got the click, it’s got the mojo, it’s got the force!

But, ‘TTT’ do it again – such powerful-mojo just doesn’t contrast well with tracks like “Down River”. It’s like listening to something ‘Jarvis Cocker’ concocted in a bath-tub. By now, if you think I like ‘Cocker’, you’re sorely mistaken. Simplistically, poorly-written lyrics plus an awful tune in the background just doesn’t work for me:

“…. Gooo… don’t stop…. Gooo… don’t stop…. Gooo…. don’t stop….”

‘TTT’ do it, and it’s a real off-put for the album’s entirety.

It happens throughout the album… one good, one bad – a song that works so marvellously, a song that works so poorly. “Soldier On” follows “Down River”, and it would have to be my favourite for the entire album. “Sweet Disposition” had me in awe, but “Soldier On”, I think, is ‘The Killers’ equivalent to the much neglected track “Goodnight, Travel Well”. Not so much because they sound similar, but because they have this really long intimacy between listener and singer, and then this explosion of sound.

Just the opposite, “Fader” brings back the elements of “Love Lost’s” keyboard/ elec. organ. Out come the “oooooohhhhs….” which ‘TTT’ are going to make famous. “Fools” isn’t much of a great track, so I’ll skip ahead to another favourite of mine:

“Resurrection” has this classic guitar-scratch in the background, that grows, that builds and builds and builds. It creates suspense. The vocals here work in tandem with the sounds, and the guitar that twangs in the distance is all about creating the upcoming crescendo. Then the “…. ohhhhhhh…. ohhhhhh.. ohhhhhhh’s….” come in, and set the scene. The elec. beat comes in, the scratch becomes unbearable, and it starts all over…. at the 3:26 mark, it explodes. The elec. guitat, the percussion, the bass, just flows on marvellously, and ends with the same haunting scratch/now-blip sound.

“Science Of Fear” is another great track. I’ve droned on about too many of them already, but this is an important one. It should have been first. It’s got the spark that “Conditions” needs to entice it’s listeners inwards. It’s got the simplistic layers, the lyrics, the elec. guitar and the percussion, and it shows all the capabilities of ‘TTT’ that should have been outlined from the beginning. Just as well, it could have worked in last position instead. In it’s place is the completely unnecessary “Drum Song”, an instrumental – it takes away the only thing ‘TTT‘ have that makes their music work; vocals. It’s a filler-track, and I’m disappointed with the ending.

Overall, the album, as I said, is like a bunch of uppers and downers. It’ll take you to the top, it’ll ride you to the bottom. You can replay it over and over, and there’ll still be those pitfalls no matter what. But if you’re willing to overlook these somewhat minor faults, and look a little on the bright-side, you’ll find that “Conditions” has some mainstream-making material, and heaps of potential to become a successful band in the not too distant future. With a little more time and some diligant effort, ‘The Temper Trap’ will have a follow-up twice as brilliant as this. A modest 3.8/5, it’s the potential I love, and considering some of the other ‘average’ bands out there at the moment, “Conditions” is a walk in the park.

Until when,

These past few days have seen the passing away of three Hollywood celebrities: Ed McMahon, Farrah Fa

These past few days have seen the passing away of three Hollywood celebrities: Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. When you reflect on the death of friends, family members or otherwise, typically you become reflective.

Our reflections may spand the gamut of reflecting on the life of the person who passed away, mourning, and the feeling of loss. Perhaps you reflect on how fragile life really is. One moment you turn on the TV to hear of a celebrity passing away. In a moment someones life is gone. It cannot be brought back in this life. Their spirit has left their body.

I remember sitting by my dear Fathers death bead for about 36 hours watching him slowly die. I was watching his breathing then all of the sudden he stopped breathing. No more will that body breath until after the glorious ressurection.

We knew he was dying but that moment when the next breath is expected but doesn’t come, you know they are dead. It is sad, sobering and in some cases merciful. My Dad had bone cancer, Parkinson’s Diease and a slew of complications. Death was mericul to him.

Inspite of the mercy death can be, there is still a sense of loss. During the days and weeks that follow there is much reflection on life, your life their life and how to make sense of the death and resulting loss.

Sometime along that journey of mourning and healing you reflect on your own mortality. Questions arise in your mind: Where did i come from? Why am I here on earth? What is the purpse my life? Where will I go once my life is over? Will I ever see my loved one or friend again?

Thank goodness for the Holy Scriptures to help us answer these questions. Thank God for the Holy Ghost or in this case the Comforter to provide us with comfort and healing if we let Him.

We know that Heavenly Father is the Father of our spirits and that he created man and women after His image. He is the father of our spirit and body. We have Heavenly DNA in our soul. We were sent to life to learn the gospel and to learn to live our lives according to Gods will. We know that after passing through the veil of death we reside in the Spirit World while our Spirits await the glorious ressurection when our spirits will be reunited with our glorified and perfect bodies. We know that the ressurection is by the grace of God a free gift that will happen to all people who lived on this earth.

Then after being ressurected we are judged by our works and the intents of our heart. We are given our eternal reward. This knowledge allows comfort to have perspective on the purpose of life and death.

I think the key to our happiness now and for the rest of our life is based on living an honest Christian life. Notice I didn’t say live a Christian life but I inserted the word honest in to the sentance.

I did so for this reason. I believe some people hide behind Christianity and think that all they have to do is make a public statement once in their life that they believe in Jesus Christ and that’s that. They go on living their life as before and feel that in the end they will be saved. While it is true they will be ressurected which is a free gift to all, that doesn’t mean they will be with God for eternity.

That’s why I stated that I need to and you need to live an honest Christian life. That implies self examination. Are we doing what we need to do? Are we reading the scriptures and following the teachings of Jesus Christ? Are we repenting when through our self examination we see we sometimes come up short in keeping the commandments.

Life is a series of choices. Are we making the right choices? The choices that will bring misery into our life or happiness into our life? If we follow the teachings of our Savior we will have happiness in this life and the next.

When during the times of our mourning, like so many are doing to these fallen celebrities we can have a quiet assurance that we are on the right track. We can mourn for the dead without fearing for our own future.

HAPPY MONDAY! I pray all is well with everyone, and you’re enjoying the beginning of another

HAPPY MONDAY!

I pray all is well with everyone, and you’re enjoying the beginning of another workweek. I’m doing well, had a good weekend, looking forward to a good week. I made the Tortellini with Crab and Gorgonzola cheese over the weekend, and it was wonderful. It’s such an easy dish to make, and took me all of 20 minutes to do. Today is my Sister LaSheda’s birthday, happy birthday sweetheart; my baby sister is growing up, the older she gets, means the older I get. My grandmother is doing well, she’s looking good, and is up moving around, thank you for your prayers, I’ve planned a trip for us for the July 4th weekend, I pray she’ll feel up to going. Have a wonderful day!

Today’s scriptures are about our death and resurrection in Christ. It is written that we should be “crucified with Christ” (Galatians 2:20), what does that mean to you? When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we die to sin, and receive eternal life in Christ. In that process we die to our old life, and lifestyle. In some cases it could be painful, because we’re being refined. It could be very difficult to change a person’s ways. God has a lot of work to do, so we’re going down with Christ, and then rose back up in Righteousness with Him. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all (Psalms 34:19). Think of Jesus’ crucifixion, it was a lot of physical pain and suffering, but we rejoice in this act of great courage and strength, because it freed us from the penalties of sin. Jesus never complained, and lived a life full of peace. God is Who He is, and He never sugarcoats anything. As I read certain stories in the Old Testament, I see just how powerful and mighty He is, yet He’s also merciful, kind, and very patient. We could see this in the sacrifice of His only begotten Son. This may seem like a heinous act, but the compassion behind it is the only thing we should be concerned with. The love of God is real, true, uplifting and comforting. The sacrifice of Jesus was necessary to free all mankind. Now He is the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, His hard work is done. Dr. Stanley wrote in his devotional today: The Lord’s ultimate purpose for each believer is that he or she will learn to think, act, and speak like Jesus (Rom. 8:29). This requires our old self to die, and our new self resurrected. We are the body of Christ, and He is one with us, as the Father is one with Him. We must commit to learning His ways, so we could complete God’s will for our lives, with peace, joy, and happiness. We must have peace in knowing that God’s Will shall be done, so it’s easier for us to seek and follow Him. Jesus is the ultimate teacher and friend, and it’s because of Him that we’re made new. Every new thing has to be created, there’s a purpose for everything, and our rebirth in Christ happens at the right time, place, and season in our lives. Sin equals death, and before we find Jesus, we’re dead to righteousness. We have no real connection with God, unless by the blood of Christ. I could say this everyday, and some people still don’t get it. This is why we must constantly stay in the word, and exercise the Power of Christ that lives in us. If we don’t live according to His word and His ways, then we sin, and when we sin something dies. Everything has its consequence, and we know that by our Earthly laws. If you break the law you’re punished. Some crimes carry larger penalties than others, but they cost a price. Whether it’s your freedom, time, or money, you will pay a penalty, and something is lost. Our main job is to learn the laws, and follow them. In John 3, Nicodemus was obviously curious about all that he’d heard and seen from Jesus and he went to Jesus inquiring about His role, starting in verse 2: This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus went on and questioned Jesus until he understood what He was talking about, because he just didn’t get the phrase “born again”. Jesus replied in verse 7-8: “Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” There are a lot of things that we cannot understand in the flesh, and that includes the word of God. Being “born again”, is necessary to be able to understand, hear, see, and feel the Spirit. We cannot do anything without Jesus. Once we accept Him as our Lord and Savior, we experience a rebirth, and start off as newborn Spirits. It doesn’t stop there; we then need to learn whom we are in Christ, and start to rebuild. If you don’t know Jesus, I suggest you get to know Him as soon as you possible because Sin=death, but Christ=Life. My favorite verse today is: If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
