This post is for new players & re-rollers who want to know the pro’s and con’s of a Druid. I really enjoy playing Druid but there some faults to consider. Not many, but a few.

The Good Things

• If you ever get bored of one roll, just re-spec! We can do all of the 4 rolls: Melee DPS, Ranged DPS, Tanking and Healing. You will almost never get bored.
• An ability for every situation.
• At level 20 you can learn Prowl which is essentially a druid version of stealth.
• Epic Flight Form!
• Jaw-dropping DPS potential (Feral Cats were doing over 8k DPS on Patchwork before Ulduar!)
• A Teleport to Moonglade spell.
• A lot more than on this list (that is a good thing.)
• 2 Words; Moonkin Dance.

The Bad Things

• If you have more than one spec you will have to carry around a lot of extra gear in your bags.
• A lot of nice-looking armor will rarely get seen as your in a form most of the time.
• Certain achievements (such as But I’m On Your Side) are much more difficult for a Druid.

A Further Look Into The Good Things

This is ONE of the main reasons people choose Druids. You get into groups fast, you can solo great with healing + bear form and, like I said before, you almost NEVER get bored.

• ‘An ability for every situation.’

I thought of this while playing in a WSG Battleground. I was in Moonkin-Form in the opposing teams flag room. There were 2 other people in there, both alliance (I’m Horde), I Rooted one of them and cycloned the other. I then switched to Cat-Form and used dash to sprint out of the room. When dash wore off I went into Travel-Form to continue for 40% + speed. Another Druid Rooted me. I just quickly pressed travel form twice to escape the snare and sped to our room to hand in the flag!

• ‘At level 20 you can learn Prowl which is essentially a druid version of stealth.’

If you’re not familiar with Stealth, this is how it works – You enter a state where you are Invisible to enemies unless you come close to them/they come close to you. This works with opposing faction players too. You can sneak your way into lots of places other classes would spend hours doing. You do it in a matter of minutes.

• ‘Epic Flight Form!’

If you ask a Druid to name their 3 favorite things about playing a Druid. This almost certainly will make the list. It’s like a 280% mount (or 310%) but it’s instant cast and you don’t dismount while trying to pick things up (thats why so many Druids are Herbalists.) If you happen to randomly wander off a really high mountain, just hit Flight Form/Epic Flight Form and you will be saved.

• ‘Jaw-dropping DPS potential (Feral Cats were doing over 8k DPS on Patchwork before Ulduar!)’

I’m not so sure about Moonkins (only played one for a bit) but I know this is true for Feral “Kittehs”. I must warn you, great power comes with great responsibility… Or, in this case, lots of timers to pay attention to.

• ‘A Teleport to Moonglade spell.’

This functions the same as a Death Knights Death Gate spell. Moonglade is a home to Druids with trainers, quest givers and easy access to Felwood and Winterspring. If you are still leveling up, you’re seconds away from training your new ability’s whenever you “DING!”

• ‘A lot more than on this list (that is a good thing.)’

This is true. Because Druids are such a versatile class, there are so many aspects to them. Most of the aspects make Druids fun to play.

• ‘2 Words; Moonkin Dance.’

Only this video can show you what I mean.

A Further Look Into The Bad Things

This isn’t too much of a problem but if you decide to put them into your bank you won’t have instant access. Of course if you only have one spec this doesn’t matter (as long as that spec isn’t Feral tank/DPS)

• ‘A lot of nice-looking armor will rarely get seen as your in a form most of the time.’

One of the most complained-about things from Druids. If you don’t care for aesthetics, this also isn’t a problem.

• ‘Certain achievements (such as But I’m On Your Side) are much more difficult for a Druid.’

This is a bit of a problem, but once again, if you don’t care for achievements it doesn’t matter.

I’m considering making 2 sets of gear for my resto druid. One stacking haste for raid healing, one with crit for tank healing.

my haste set would be for 10man raid healing, where my aim would be to get my GCD down to 1 second, and my rejuv down to 10-12 seconds, to be able to roll rejuv effectively on 10 people with wild growth on CD. pre 3.3 rejuv rolling in 10man really didn’t work to well, as you managed to get upwards of 8 seconds of free time, with not much else to do, and I want to attempt to remove this ‘extra’ time.

My crit set will be to attempt to boost the talent living seed as far as it can go, this talent is usually over looked by resto druids as a ‘meh’ talent from what I’ve seen. This set would primarily be for tank healing. Living seed is often seen as not doing terribly much healing, but this has to be taken with a grain of salt, how many times was living seed actually applied? Was the resto druid in question actually tank healing? or just throwing out a swift mend for the hell of it?

Living seed is preventative healing, which in my books makes it unique in the resto druid arsenal. Unlike rejuv which might not tick in the few seconds a tank is under full HP before being healed up, we know that this will go of. This might end up being a complete failure, but it will be nice to at least try.

In other news my pally is finally at 80, healed ToC10 last night (read, carried), but Ive got a long way to go gear wise before she can tank or heal anything above heroics.

Thats right folks, a relatively successful and thoroughly enjoyable night of raiding was had by all as we made actual progress into Icecrown Citadel. We one-shot Lord Marrowgar. That, my friends, is the power of researching tacts before you go in!

It struck me though, how LITTLE there is written about trash. We wiped three times before we got to Marrowgar, because I kept standing on those STUPID traps that summon the giant skeleton dudes, promptly getting my face smashed in. And all the AoE! Mobs exploding on death! Some ranged, some melee, but which ones to prioritise!?! AoE interrupt/silence! I’ll be honest I feel totally helpless working on trash sometimes. It was the same going into Ulduar for the first time. I really wish there were, and I will probably end up writing for myself, little guides on trash. Cause it’s not always just tank and spank, ya know!

Anyway, Lady Deathwhisper is fun, isn’t she! Although I have to admit it took us a couple of attempts to get her down.

All in all I think I’m just glad we finally have a raid in which all the fights do not take place in one, circular, greyish, depressing room. Barring Anub, Totc was, in my opinion, just a bad case of rushed and lazy design. Fair enough, the concept of preparing for Icecrown with a bit of arena-style combat kinda fits. But it dragged out too long. I was bored of it after our second or third clear, and by the end, gagging for something a bit more…….. typically epic. Nothing about that place was epic. Ulduar is breathtaking, Icecrown, so far, is *fantastic* in terms of scenery and the excitement that just *being* there causes. Totc felt like a day at the office, where the rest of this expansion feels like a genuine adventure.

Anyway, enough QQ about totc, lets just put it all behind us, shall we? Pretend it never happened!

So this Gunship battle………

One wipe was admittedly entirely my fault. Turns out the very edge of the enemy ship is NOT a good place to try to rocket-jump to. You *will* fall to your, very embarrassing, death. Ahem. Still, I think our greater enemy there was lag, rather than horde gunners. Give us a clean shot at it, with everyone’s lag problems cleared up and I swear to you, that floating bag of horde would be blasted all the way back to Sindragosa’s Fall!

Wish us luck for tonight!

Oh and I changed my resto spec again. More throughput talents, sacrificing some longevity. Seems to have paid off, I hit 9.1k HPS on some of the more AoE-ey trash before Deathwhisper. And I didn’t oom. Well, not that much anyway!

Dungeons.(updated)

I remember way back on the PTR when the forgemaster guys was bugged. He jumped away and never ever came back. Was sad =( I haven’t really gone into the new dungeons, so my advice here will be all from the last PTR patch before it was released. Sorry y’all, I will fix this situation. But anyhoo. Forge of Sauron, let’s start with that. The forgemaster is a pretty simple fight. Mostly. Keep him faced away from the group, because then they’ll know when he’s trying to throw saronite on them. When that happens, they need to run. NO I don’t care if it messes with your dps, do it! Once the big chunk of saronite is thrown, he’ll jump over to his forge and make himself a new weapon. (‘Now you’re making me angry!’, anyone?) Everyone needs to get behind the big chunk of saronite and kill the adds that spawn. He’ll be casting an AoE, but if you did what I told you to, and GOT BEHIND THE BIG CHUNK OF SARONITE, then you’ll be fine and not taking damage. This happens 2-3 times and then he’s dead on you get your pretty purple pixels. Just the usual keep HoTs up, blah blah for healing. Tanks…. erm…. just position yourselves and get behind the saronite and you should be fine.

Krick and Ick, anyone?

Ick, a plague bomb, eruptor, whatever is a minion to Krick the leper gnome, who’s a big pansy. This fight is, for healers, OMGOMGPOSIONCLEANSECLEANSEACKHEALTANNKHEALEREVERYONEAHHH! Or you can keep your cool, but I’m not to good at that. BAsically: Lots of stuff on the floor to move out of, AoE’s that you hopefully don’t have to worry about because you’re far enough away, RIGHT? RIGHT? and poison. And run away if they pursue you. EheheheheheheheheehhHAHAHAHAHAHA or they will go “lol2hitkolol”. Tanks, run away from green blobs on the ground. And occasionally, Krick will call out a bomb AoE you need to move away from. At the end, Ick dies and Krick is a big coward and is killed by mysterious figure A. -nodnod-

You know? I’ll finish this when I’m not half-delirious from needing sleep.

Then you get to run a gauntlet! You lucky people <3. Run as far up as you can, apply HoTs on all, because the mobs can randomly aggro onto the dps. Do NOT automatically assume it is the dps’ fault! ALWAYS check to make sure it wasn’t your fault. Tanks, pop your AoE aggro effects. ONCE you finish that, you’ll get into an icy cave where you need to stay out of green circles because you’ll get hurt if you stand in them like whatshimname, Hodir? Yeah. Hodir. Where eventually.. if you’ve been good… and you haven’t pouted or cried… you’ll come out and find…

SCOURGELORD TYRANNUS!(Mysterious Figure A) Give him a round of applause, ladies and gents, he got far enough in the arena season to win a frostwyrm! After a bit of dialogue, he’ll jump off of it and begin the fight. If you’ve got ranged dps, get them on him while he talks and then have the tank(maybe you, maybe not) pick him up when he drops. His frostwyrm, Rimefang will be flying overhead shooting frostbolts at people, and you can’t target him and kill him. If you get a big red arrow over your head, run around but not close to other people, because rimefang wants to be your BESTEST friend, but he doesn’t know how to do that any way but shooting frostbolts at you so you can be scourged. Now the Scourgelord has a powerful bit of spike damage that he’ll cast every so often. You need to have all hots on tank and be casting a big heal, or as a tank pop your survival instincts if you can see the healer won’t be able to make it. Now after he’s done this, he likes empowering himself. Remember how Rimefang wants to be your BESTEST friend? Run over the ice that he’s been shooting to slow down the scourgelord while he’s empowered, otherwise he’ll go “Lawlzpewpewpewyoudead!” Now if the dps receives the scourgelord’s mark, they need to STOP DOING DAMAGE and try not to get hurt, because their damage will be hurting the tank and healing done to them will be done to the scourgelord, but bigger heals. NO I DON’T CARE IT’S AFFECTING YOUR DPS, GO SIT IN A CORNER! Once you’ve done all of this and killed him, Rimefang will be sad watching his second bestest buddy die, and fly away. And you get more pretty purple pixels!

2nd Edit:Fixed some typos

Second night in Icecrown yesterday and the plan was to reach Lady Deathwhisper without much problems so we would have the rest of the evening trying to figure out how to handle the adds. Well it turned out to be much easier as I first expected. Perhaps I need to correct that: we made it look easy.

First attempt, we got overwhelmed by adds because we refused to kill a reanimated fanatic. No big deal, the shield was allready on 30% and we weren’t really pushing it. Healing was easy, definitly easy compared to the Lord Marrowgar fight. Untill phase 2 I never saw huge spikes of damage on people. Well we lost some dps on adds, but those were personal errors. And we had a bit of luck because 2 druid rezzers were able to get everyone back up and continue the fight. Our second attempt was bingo. Was that it?

Looks like it yeah. Now, we were ofcourse prepared and we executed it properly. It’s nice to know that we soon can take in others to teach them how the encounter work. Right now, we try to progress with people who are way to decently geared for farming ToC 10. I’m allready noticing that others should be able to do the same things that we did last night.

I changed my healing a bit and got rid of the spellpower fetish I have on my resto shaman. I usually take a bite of the feast and am eager to drink a Flask of the Frostwyrm. But this time I’ve chosen to get my own food wich provided me haste and instead of the flask I took a haste and an intellect elexir. We lacked a mage so my scrolls of intellect came in handy. 30k mana and I was good to go. It allowed my to reduce my casting time on lesser healing wave with 0.2 seconds and 0.1 seconds on chain heal. Seems like details to you, but it’s a huge difference overall.

Take a look at our kill video. It might be helpfull if you are aiming to get in there and want to know a bit of the things the boss does. My appologies for the faulty frames somewhere mid fight. Seems like I will need to update my fraps again. Also, it might be worth it to put up your speakers or headset and listen to the background music. It adds some nice shiver to it…

I’ve been busy. The new patch has gave me a lot of work to do. Everyone in our guild is either working on their gear by farming random heroics or trying to progress in Icecrown Citadel. Thursday was our first night in there and for me it was a good start. Well, good in a sence that the first encounter is fairly hard if you look at where we came from. ToC 10 is easy doable, you don’t need to bring in your best people every time and lately we had about 3 10 mans going in there before the patch.

But Lord Marrowgar was more like the heroic version. He hit’s like I truck and we had a very hard time keeping our tanks alive. I saw a lot of bars going up and down like a yoyo, even on our druid tank. I held my breath the whole fight. Even now, when I see our kill video, I feel the tanks could go down any second.

I felt like my shaman didn’t had the tools to keep people alive. At least, I didn’t had the same relaxed healing position I had lately in ToC. Heal when needed was the motto, but those times are over it seems. It should be like that but in a way I feel like I’m not in controll of my situation, let alone, the life of others. But it’s a nice challenge and I hope I’ll notice some improvement in the way I handle things during the next raidweek.

Well, I told you I wasn’t fully finished with twinking, so here’s some more proof for you. Sorry, I just can’t help but enjoy facing opponents with actual intelligence:

As with Killutiludie yesterday, she’s got some progressing left to do. But, she’s got most of her gear already set aside and just needs to level. There are three instances that I need to run for gear, but the three items I need are all the higher of the drop rates for the specific bosses. [Edit: Progression is done, gear is obtained, twink healing has begun. She'll typically be seen in her caster gear on the armory, and there are a few pieces that can be upgraded via BoE blues I haven't manage to get my hands on yet, but there she is. Herbalism should be maxed tonight or tomorrow. Just shy of 1600 hp in bear form, without sacrificing all other stats for stam.]

Hotstuffbaby isn’t mean to kill people, so where Killutiludie ends up with over 100 kills almost every battleground, Hotstuffbaby settles instead for healing more damage over the course of a battle than most of the dps put out. She actually finds herself at the top of the charts at the end more frequently than my hunter does at this point.

Leveling a Druid Twink Through Battlegrounds
Looking back on my previous post you’ll see that leveling in today’s game is pretty well the same for twink as it is for a non-twink. Most of Hot’s leveling since level 10 has come from battleground experience, which makes the process slow sometimes if my entire team feels the need to do solo fighting in midfield or everyone decides that a strong defense is the best offense (and then completely ignores the flag carriers). But when we’re good, we’re friggin’ GOOD! And that’s where the experience really comes rolling in.

Since I’m doing most of her leveling via BG’s there’s some special things to take note of. First off, if flags aren’t getting captured, then you aren’t getting experience in a WSG. You’ll get some when it’s all over regardless of win or lose, but the only way to get experience in WSG in the 19 bracket is from flags being captured. So if you want to level from this method, then do yourself a favor and do your job, which means being part of the team not trying to be superman.

Forget the fact that you’re there to level yourself and do what it takes to help your team succeed.

Gearing a Druid Twink
Gearing a druid depends on what you plan on doing with that druid. From my own personal experience, there are only two types of druid twinks that I have seen in the 19 bracket that actually perform well: healers and flag carriers. I have heard tale of some decent Balance twinks out there, but from what I see it’s always someone with Resto or Feral builds with Resto being significantly more common.

Gearing a Druid twink is a bit easier in some respects to other twinks, and also somewhat harder. The best setup you can have for the druid twink involves a high level rep grind for an offhand item known as the Furbolg Medicine Pouch. You have no chance of getting this item yourself at this level so it requires help from a higher level toon to kill things for you. You also earn that rep at a wonderfully slow 5 points per kill, though there are items you can turn in to get more. I haven’t gone after this item yet myself, though I do have the perfect setup for getting it. Right now I am trying to decide if I want to go with this item for extra hit points or if I would rather go with the Twisted Chanter’s Staff for the boost to Intellect instead.

Right now I’m not sure whether I will need the Stamina more or the Intellect, so only time will tell at this point.

A Druid is about 50/50 on their best in slot gear for twinks between world drops and dungeon loot, and some of their rare drops while being rare also have their highest drop rates located inside specific dungeons. For the druid, Blackfathom Deeps is the location of your best chest piece while Shadowfang Keep is the location for your best weapon if you decide to go for the Medicine Pouch.

Some of the green items you’ll need happen to be among some of the hardest to find though, so be prepared to watch that Auction House pretty close if you’re building a druid. The items themselves aren’t too hard to find, it’s the one with the specific random enchantments on them that you’ll be struggling with.

Playing a Druid Twink
Playing a twink is serious business.

Because of the versatile nature of the druid, there is really a lot that can be put into playing them. Having the ability to switch your role at the drop of a hat is a pretty big deal, even if you don’t necessarily have the best gear for your off-spec roles.

I primarily play Hots as a healer, with crowd control ending up as one of her biggest contributions to actually winning. Sometimes though I have to take on the role of the flag carrier and running around with my big bear butt waving around the screen and relying on someone else to do my healing for me. Right now all of the gear I’ve been building up is centered around healing, but I plan on getting a high Stamina set of gear for when I’m running the flag as well.

Utilizing your versatility is one of the cornerstones of being a Druid twink, so be sure to put that to use when the situation presents itself.

While versatility is your cornerstone, the keystone to your druid twinking is going to be your mobility.

A druid’s mobility is key to everything. You can heal on the move, you can dps (sort of) on the move, you can root (sort of) on the move, and you can move faster than most of the other classes that you’ll be facing as well. These things all combine into one big kick in the teeth for your opponents. Keep your distance when enemies are around and use what spells you can while you’re on the move.

Tactics
Defense: When you’re playing defense as a druid you have two primary contributions. First, Entangling Roots/Nature’s Grasp – these spells are going to stop people from being able to move. They can use trinkets or racials (humans and gnomes) to get out of it, but those things are limited and have cooldowns where your Entangling Roots does not. Second, you’re a healer. When you see someone engage one of your fellow defenders, it’s time to start throwing some heals. If they happen to be focused on you then take advantage of your healing there as well and try to heal through whatever they’ve got. If the enemy is focus on you or your teammates, then they aren’t focused on your flag, and that’s a good thing.

If they do manage to get your flag then your main focus should be rooting the flag carrier in place and throwing Moonfire on him when you can to help dps him down. And for the love of Sylvanas, please don’t forget to let people know where the flag carrier is taking the flag: “efc going tun/ramp/gy”.

If you’re trying to heal the flag carrier, then do your team a favor and forget that you have any damaging spells and save your mana for heals and roots.

Offense:
Crowd Control is one of your key traits here, especially if you’re a healer or a bear. You probably don’t have the mana or the spell power to be a true dps powerhouse, so the strongest offense you have to offer is crowd control and healing to help out the ones who do have the ability to pack a punch for you. If your hunter mate is getting his face bashed in by a warrior, then you should probably root the warrior and then throw some heals on that hunter while he repositions to finish up the job.

If you see a rogue running towards a teammate, then tag him with Moonfire and rob him of the ability to use stealth. If a shaman is dropping totems to slow down your team, then feel free to Moonfire his Earthbinding Totem (that one above all others). If someone’s low on health, then don’t hesitate to try to finish them off with Moonfire or Wrath, especially if it’s some form of caster.

A Beautiful Thing:
One last little bit that I’m going to leave with you is in relation to the Night Elf race in particular, though it does apply to the whole race instead of just the druids. Shadowmeld is your best friend. If a Hunter or Warlock sends his pet after you then this is how you get them to drop their agro. When you use Shadowmeld, the pets will lose agro on you and return to doing what their owner told them to. A lot of people aren’t used to actively controlling their pets, so I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve been able to use this to drop the pet agro and then finish the fight without the pet ever even trying to hit me again.

The best time to use this is right before you’re going to heal yourself, or when you’re camping the enemy’s flag spawn. If you pop Shadowmeld and immediately follow it up with your instant cast HoT then your enemy is less likely to notice that his pet isn’t hitting you anymore. It may also make the enemy player target someone else instead of you which allows you to drop back into a healing role.

While the reaction of the player is completely out of your control, it will always drop agro from a pet which might buy you the time you need to heal. There’s nothing stopping the enemy from immediately sending his pet right back to you, but a precious second is a precious second indeed if it means the difference between life and death or victory and defeat.

Yay!!!  Last night was our second 25man attempt.  We were still slightly shy of a full guild run.  I believe 18 of us were guildies and almost all the rest were friends (and old guildies but we won’t go into that…yay drama).  There were 2 pugs.  I believe we picked one of them up as a guild member.  A few more pugs like that then we will have a regular all guild 25 man. (I guess the rest will HAVE to defect from the old guild if they want to continue running with us) 

We ran 25ToC again (because someone mentioned they keep forgetting about Ony….ummm???)  We one shotted everything up to Anub and it was starting to look like we might have to call it there.  /cry  But we pulled it together and BAM! Dead bug.  I managed to get a trophy out of it so tonight is my first tier 9.5 piece (I needed sleep or I would have bought/gemed/and enchanted it last night).  I’m getting the gloves.  I don’t want to replace anything I just bought and it turns out you can mix and match tier 9 and 9.5.  The main reason I went for the gloves is that, while I lose a little crit and a little haste, I get a yellow socket instead of a blue one.  I really hate blue sockets.  It turns out that almost half my sockets are blue.  Fuck blue!  Reckless ametrine FTW!  I need more red/yellow sockets.  I also get more int on the gloves and that is important.  Oh and I am no longer sporting a helm because even the helm I’m using  (which is not tier but better) is just hideous.  /sigh 

As you can see from my enthusiastic gem shout out above, I’ve decided to go with sp/haste as my focus.  I’ve done some reading and there is A LOT of debate over this.  I know int. gives you more mana, more crit, and helps with mp5, but it does not help with haste.  Since shamans are the slowest healers in the game I really think that there is no argument here.  And I know crit is important, but I would rather be able to get off more heals in a shorter period of time then hope for a really big heal at the right time.  

Originally when I spent all my money to regem I thought I would go with a more balanced talent allocation.  I decided to ignore socket colors too because almost half the sockets I have are blue which leaves me with very few options.  (sp and stam, mp5 or I think maybe hit.) Basically all I can put in there is sp.  Unfortunately ignoring the socket color also ignored the socket bonuses.  I discovered yesterday that one of those bonuses was a +5 crit.  I was also missing almost 30 to sp with the bonuses.  That’s almost as good as one runed dragon’s eye.  I already mentioned the other problems I had with this here so I won’t go back into it.  

I decided to go with a quick dragon’s eye and a brilliant dragon’s eye and a runed dragon’s eye for my 3 jewelcrafter allotments.  I then put a royal dreadstone in each of the blue sockets (ugh!).  I still have ungodly mana regen.  I wonder why they still make so much mp5 for shammies when they really don’t need it anymore.  Of course part of my mp5 is due to a trinket.  When I replace that thing I’m going to have to start looking more to my mp5 and I might start missing those blue sockets.  I only have 1 red but I have 5 yellows, 3 of which were filled with a dragon’s eye and luminous ametrines,  so that left me with a decision to make since I’m not as limited on yellows as I am on blues.  My first thought was the reckless ametrine.  The only problem was that I didn’t realize I could not cut a reckless ametrine.  I could only cut the luminous ametrine and I only had 3 jc tokens.  I had no money, and none to begin with, but I had 75000 honor because I randomly do bg’s once in a while (I know I’m a masochist) so I used it.  Since I had all the other gems in place and was only missing 3 enchants I took a look at my gear to decide if I was going to wait a day to get the last jc token I needed.  It turns out that my haste is already at 510 which is really good.  I still want more, but it will do.  I didn’t think that 20 more haste was going to do that much good over all.  Three hundred extra mana from the 20 int., along with the slightly increased crit chance, was definitely a more tangible reward I thought.  So I opted to cut the luminous ametrine.  I’ll update my stats when I get home tonight.  I know I have around 2400sp, 32% crit, 510 haste and more than 520mp5 unbuffed. 

Stats are not everything though.  The real question is how it performs.  I’ve never played another healing class but when you type in holy priest guide on google you get 623,000 hits verses 83,000 for resto shaman.  After the first 3 pages of hits you start getting more into ‘spirit dreaming’ and less into ‘haste vs. spell power’. Holy pallies are only at 159,000 but still a lot more than shamans (and more of the hits are relevant).  Either this is because there are not that many resto shamans, which I doubt is the case, or that resto shamans can be played a lot more on preference than ‘this is what you NEED to have’ which makes it hard to write a guide.  We are not main healers.  Last night I was consistently third highest in heals even though I’m one of the better geared healers.  I’m there for my buffs (earth shield, totems, heroism) and to help the other’s heal.  I know this.  This doesn’t mean I’m not a kick ass healer, but druids and pallies are just better at the straight healing.  They are glad I’m there though.  My preference in healing is CH and HW with regular sprinklings of RT.  I barely use LHW.  Because of this I NEED haste.  Someone who relies on LHW and RT, kind of like a pally does with flash of light, is going to want A LOT of spell power and int for the crit chance.  I was very happy with my healing last night.  I think I need more haste and spell power but I only got low on mana if I neglected my WS and I crit’d at least every 3^rd heal if not more. (30% chance to crit duh!).  My heals could be higher though.  I’d like a 20K crit to be normal not every 5^th crit.  That’s nearly half a tanks life and would be useful in the event I have to hit my ‘Oh Shit!’ macro.

I finished a pretty typical Resto 3.3 To-Do list last night:

• Update what addons are available
• Visit our old (lag-free) friend in Moonglade to respec (7 talent points for 3/3 CF — sob!)
• Run to the AH to see if there were any Rapid Rejuv glyphs
  • (If you’re like me, you pick up the vendor pattern on your alt and make some for yourself!)
• Re-work gear and gems to try to hit the magic haste number, realize you can’t quite get there, and settle for being close for now.
  • Say it with me: 735 with CF!
• Pop into the new 5-mans or into the Random Heroic to test things out!

On 706 Haste…

Between the gear I was using and the gear I squirreled away (and 5 Quick King’s Ambers) I managed to get to 706 haste and keep relatively strong bonuses and other stats (including T9).  This is more haste than I’ve ever run with, and boy was it FAST.  Regrowths were taking 1.4 seconds to cast – WOW.  I definitely see where some the EJ folks are coming from, saying we will use Regrowth more.  I definitely will be using it more often.  However, this big of a change really impacts our entire framework of casting, so it will require some practice to learn new rhythms and patterns.  I will be interested to analyze my spell selection as I adapt to this new higher haste level, and to play a lot more to try to get into the flow again as far as rhythm goes.

On Rapid Rejuv Glyph…

All I can say is – SITUATIONAL.  It was a LOT of healing, let’s be honest.  Definitely something that needs to be practiced with, to get the rhythm down.  I could definitely see Rapid Rejuv’ing the melee in a certain type of fight…or splitting groups with another Resto Druid for some really lovely coverage.  I can also see it making problems because you’ll have a lot less coverage, especially if you’re the only Resto Druid.  It is so potent, though, I cannot see serious raiders not using it – expect to be carrying glyphs around now and swapping per encounter or even per attempt as we learn the best ways to handle things.

On the New Dungeon Finder…

Awesome!  It speeds up the Dungeon process so much, even with a few of the downsides (especially last night when the instance servers were full) are far outweighed.  After a few misfires due to the typical launch stuff, I finally finished the Random Daily Heroic – it was an Occulus with two players who’d never done it before.  Just to show you how much it was nerfed, we actually completed it.  Nice!

Next To-Do’s…

• Finish the new 5-mans (we stopped trying to get into the 2^nd after about 20 minutes and a big disconnect)
• Work 0n getting a good Haste Trinket (we don’t always have a Boomkin, and I want the option of getting more haste if I want it).  Either Abyssal Rune (even if proc is useless) from ToC Norm or the Wintergrasp or other PvP trinkets, whichever comes first.
• Read up on the new raid bosses for first ICC raid Thursday!

Abis ubek2 baju & beli 1 (nando..not me) trus putusin buat makan di sky dining nya. Gw baru tau kalo di lantai 9 nya juga ada, gw pikir di lantai 10 aja kan. Karena sama2 belon pernah coba di lantai 9 akhir nya makan disana deh.

Sampe di sana, langsung ditawarin sama mbak2 TOAST. Oo iye…sebelon nya si nando beli rokok dulu tuh….mahal banget >.< kata dia biasa nya 10rb an, masa kemaren 18rb! wakaka beda nya gilaa…

Nah karena ud ditawarin sama mbak2 TOAST, akhir nya duduk deh disitu, deket ke balkon nya, jadi liat pemandangan gitu cerita nya…karena gw laper, gw pesen beef teriyaki & nasi trus minum nya ice lemon tea. Si nando pesen mie goreng ala TOAST sama teh botol ga dingin. Ga tau kenapa teh botol ga dingin nya tuh ga ada…..dia minta fruit tea ga ada juga. Cuman ada yg dingin. Akhir nya pesen hot lemon tea deh.

Sambil nunggu makanan, dateng tuh temen gw, Dina..anak CIT. Nando juga kenal sih, secara dulu dia pernah di cit juga hehe…ga lama kemudian, dateng tuh pesenan gw. Pas mas2nya ud pergi..langsung ngomel2 ya ampunnnn menu nya kaya gini nih ? Hiks..jauh dari ekspetasi gw!

So, I’ve heard on the grapevine patch 3.3 has dropped. I have no clue, because, hey, school is evil. Good luck with that…shoo…shoo…-cry in corner- ANYWAYS. I hear balance druids are happy or something unless they’re PvPers. And… and feral druids are just trundling along going extinct, really we are! We have to compete with rogues and–that’s a post for another time. Restoration druids have rejuv, last I checked, staying the same. (Yay) AND..I’m just sort of sitting here happy I went on PTR so that I’m not completely heartbroken over this. Maybe I can get on this weekend… Heck, get back to raiding. TotC10/25, if I’m really really lucky.. last time I was in there I got 2 tanking items and nothing for healz, sadly. Also no trophies. But I can hope. I’m going back to sobbing in a corner now, and handing it off to my shaman. who recently lvled. Twice. -walks off to corner with LotR while muttering-

….Is she gone? Hello, I’m the shaman. I recently leveled(twice) once by her and once by her friend who took pity on me and leveled me. Her initial shalt be V. Thank you, V. Do post if you want that to be edited. I’ve got pretty totems and stuff, but not much is new in shaman land, except for the fact I escaped STV, thank the elements, and ran away to dustwallow marsh. It’s boring here, but it is heaven compared to stranglethorn vale. MORDOR WOULD BE HEAVEN COMPARED TO STRANGLETHORN VALE— wait, I’ve just been told Mordor doesn’t exist in this dimension. OH well. Mount Doom, anyone? Patch 3.3 would’ve been a very happy thing for me…. chain dungeoning so that I could level swiftly swiftly swiftly, but it was not to be, sadly. And… I’m going to go follow Alienea and cry. To myself. and if you tell anyone….I’ll cast no haelz on you. Never.

Well, I told you I wasn’t fully finished with twinking, so here’s some more proof for you. Sorry, I just can’t help but enjoy facing opponents with actual intelligence:

As with Killutiludie yesterday, she’s got some progressing left to do. But, she’s got most of her gear already set aside and just needs to level. There are three instances that I need to run for gear, but the three items I need are all the higher of the drop rates for the specific bosses. [Edit: Progression is done, gear is obtained, twink healing has begun. She'll typically be seen in her caster gear on the armory, and there are a few pieces that can be upgraded via BoE blues I haven't manage to get my hands on yet, but there she is. Herbalism should be maxed tonight or tomorrow. Just shy of 1600 hp in bear form, without sacrificing all other stats for stam.]

Hotstuffbaby isn’t mean to kill people, so where Killutiludie ends up with over 100 kills almost every battleground, Hotstuffbaby settles instead for healing more damage over the course of a battle than most of the dps put out. She actually finds herself at the top of the charts at the end more frequently than my hunter does at this point.

Leveling a Druid Twink Through Battlegrounds
Looking back on my previous post you’ll see that leveling in today’s game is pretty well the same for twink as it is for a non-twink. Most of Hot’s leveling since level 10 has come from battleground experience, which makes the process slow sometimes if my entire team feels the need to do solo fighting in midfield or everyone decides that a strong defense is the best offense (and then completely ignores the flag carriers). But when we’re good, we’re friggin’ GOOD! And that’s where the experience really comes rolling in.

Since I’m doing most of her leveling via BG’s there’s some special things to take note of. First off, if flags aren’t getting captured, then you aren’t getting experience in a WSG. You’ll get some when it’s all over regardless of win or lose, but the only way to get experience in WSG in the 19 bracket is from flags being captured. So if you want to level from this method, then do yourself a favor and do your job, which means being part of the team not trying to be superman.

Forget the fact that you’re there to level yourself and do what it takes to help your team succeed.

Gearing a Druid Twink
Gearing a druid depends on what you plan on doing with that druid. From my own personal experience, there are only two types of druid twinks that I have seen in the 19 bracket that actually perform well: healers and flag carriers. I have heard tale of some decent Balance twinks out there, but from what I see it’s always someone with Resto or Feral builds with Resto being significantly more common.

Gearing a Druid twink is a bit easier in some respects to other twinks, and also somewhat harder. The best setup you can have for the druid twink involves a high level rep grind for an offhand item known as the Furbolg Medicine Pouch. You have no chance of getting this item yourself at this level so it requires help from a higher level toon to kill things for you. You also earn that rep at a wonderfully slow 5 points per kill, though there are items you can turn in to get more. I haven’t gone after this item yet myself, though I do have the perfect setup for getting it. Right now I am trying to decide if I want to go with this item for extra hit points or if I would rather go with the Twisted Chanter’s Staff for the boost to Intellect instead.

Right now I’m not sure whether I will need the Stamina more or the Intellect, so only time will tell at this point.

A Druid is about 50/50 on their best in slot gear for twinks between world drops and dungeon loot, and some of their rare drops while being rare also have their highest drop rates located inside specific dungeons. For the druid, Blackfathom Deeps is the location of your best chest piece while Shadowfang Keep is the location for your best weapon if you decide to go for the Medicine Pouch.

Some of the green items you’ll need happen to be among some of the hardest to find though, so be prepared to watch that Auction House pretty close if you’re building a druid. The items themselves aren’t too hard to find, it’s the one with the specific random enchantments on them that you’ll be struggling with.

Playing a Druid Twink
Playing a twink is serious business.

Because of the versatile nature of the druid, there is really a lot that can be put into playing them. Having the ability to switch your role at the drop of a hat is a pretty big deal, even if you don’t necessarily have the best gear for your off-spec roles.

I primarily play Hots as a healer, with crowd control ending up as one of her biggest contributions to actually winning. Sometimes though I have to take on the role of the flag carrier and running around with my big bear butt waving around the screen and relying on someone else to do my healing for me. Right now all of the gear I’ve been building up is centered around healing, but I plan on getting a high Stamina set of gear for when I’m running the flag as well.

Utilizing your versatility is one of the cornerstones of being a Druid twink, so be sure to put that to use when the situation presents itself.

While versatility is your cornerstone, the keystone to your druid twinking is going to be your mobility.

A druid’s mobility is key to everything. You can heal on the move, you can dps (sort of) on the move, you can root (sort of) on the move, and you can move faster than most of the other classes that you’ll be facing as well. These things all combine into one big kick in the teeth for your opponents. Keep your distance when enemies are around and use what spells you can while you’re on the move.

Tactics
Defense: When you’re playing defense as a druid you have two primary contributions. First, Entangling Roots/Nature’s Grasp – these spells are going to stop people from being able to move. They can use trinkets or racials (humans and gnomes) to get out of it, but those things are limited and have cooldowns where your Entangling Roots does not. Second, you’re a healer. When you see someone engage one of your fellow defenders, it’s time to start throwing some heals. If they happen to be focused on you then take advantage of your healing there as well and try to heal through whatever they’ve got. If the enemy is focus on you or your teammates, then they aren’t focused on your flag, and that’s a good thing.

If they do manage to get your flag then your main focus should be rooting the flag carrier in place and throwing Moonfire on him when you can to help dps him down. And for the love of Sylvanas, please don’t forget to let people know where the flag carrier is taking the flag: “efc going tun/ramp/gy”.

If you’re trying to heal the flag carrier, then do your team a favor and forget that you have any damaging spells and save your mana for heals and roots.

Offense:
Crowd Control is one of your key traits here, especially if you’re a healer or a bear. You probably don’t have the mana or the spell power to be a true dps powerhouse, so the strongest offense you have to offer is crowd control and healing to help out the ones who do have the ability to pack a punch for you. If your hunter mate is getting his face bashed in by a warrior, then you should probably root the warrior and then throw some heals on that hunter while he repositions to finish up the job.

If you see a rogue running towards a teammate, then tag him with Moonfire and rob him of the ability to use stealth. If a shaman is dropping totems to slow down your team, then feel free to Moonfire his Earthbinding Totem (that one above all others). If someone’s low on health, then don’t hesitate to try to finish them off with Moonfire or Wrath, especially if it’s some form of caster.

A Beautiful Thing:
One last little bit that I’m going to leave with you is in relation to the Night Elf race in particular, though it does apply to the whole race instead of just the druids. Shadowmeld is your best friend. If a Hunter or Warlock sends his pet after you then this is how you get them to drop their agro. When you use Shadowmeld, the pets will lose agro on you and return to doing what their owner told them to. A lot of people aren’t used to actively controlling their pets, so I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve been able to use this to drop the pet agro and then finish the fight without the pet ever even trying to hit me again.

The best time to use this is right before you’re going to heal yourself, or when you’re camping the enemy’s flag spawn. If you pop Shadowmeld and immediately follow it up with your instant cast HoT then your enemy is less likely to notice that his pet isn’t hitting you anymore. It may also make the enemy player target someone else instead of you which allows you to drop back into a healing role.

While the reaction of the player is completely out of your control, it will always drop agro from a pet which might buy you the time you need to heal. There’s nothing stopping the enemy from immediately sending his pet right back to you, but a precious second is a precious second indeed if it means the difference between life and death or victory and defeat.

RIGHT! ONYXIA! It’s a sad thing if PuGs wipe on her, because 10/25 Onyxia is on farm for everyone. She was on farm the day she came out.

I’ve never been Mt on Onyxia, so I cannot give you advice there. 30k health is, apparently, not enough to tank her, but I’m not so sure. Oh well. Feralbear druids, spam your swipe button if you are on the whelps. Spam spam spam spam, because the dps are all going to be on different whelps or AoEing. OH the adds, it’s a tank and spank unless our group doesn’t have the dps to get the adds down before another one comes to you, in which case you are not going to have a very good time. They’re a basic tank and spank, except for their AoE attack, which dps especially should run away from.

Healers, specifically resto druids, you should be happy with Ony. When you’re on raid, you shouldn’t have to do anything in Phase One unless you have people standing in front of her(usually a 1HKO) or if you have a ‘lock lifetapping. Or whatever they call that spell that converts life to mana, I’m not a warlock, I don’t know. However, in phase 2, you’re going to be running between the melee (on adds/whelps) and ranged(always on Ony, as far as I can tell). Hopefully you have 2 raid healers, because there’s ALWAYS someone in the very back and someone in the very front, so you can’t position yourself halfway and only move a bit. Phase 3, blanket rejuv and cast nourish/regrowth if people dip lower than 90-95% health. If you’re REALLY lucky, you’ll be able to keep everyone at 100% because you’ll have a nice grouping, but with the fear she casts, it is highly unlikely that that will happen.

I can heal through 6 mobs hitting on me while a different lvl 35 kills them, but I can’t kill them. So I’m going to heal in Alterac Valley if I ever get up to level 51. Unlikely, but possible. Maybe. I’m off to heal some idiots in battlegrounds(you know who you are), and hopefully some smart people also!

Oia, bukanya malam aja, pasnya si jam 6 malam. Kalo soal menu si menurutku lebih enak dari Drago (dengan harga yang hampir sama), gak mbelenger lah .

J’ai ammené le sujet de la discussion sur des choses agréables … Vacances et cuisine … Elle comptait partir au Vietnam avec sa mère en Janvier mais changement de programme, la madre est coincé à Paris à cause du padre qui s’est cassé les hanches !

Sur la cuisine, je lui ai suggéré que je me débrouillais … Elle a mordu à l’hameçon en me demandant ce que je savais faire ! Je lui ai décrit quelques plats, elle a semblé interessée. Si je ne me fais pas de film, c’est une première étape vers un dîner en tête à tête ! J’ai continué sur le sujet des bons restaurants parisiens, voir si elle saisissait la balle au bond … Niet ! A part, que ça m’a permis d’apprendre qu’elle a une copine qui vit pas loin de chez moi.

Nous n’avons pas abordé de sujets perso de type vie sentimentale … Après tout, on ne se connait que depuis peu et nous nous sommes connus dans un environnement professionnel. D’ailleurs, je ne pense pas que le déjeuner se prête à ce genre de confessions… En général, celà vient plutôt le soir quand les esprits commençent à divaguer. Particulièrement vrai le vendredi où la pression de la semaine de travail nous abandonne ! Ne brusquons pas les choses ….

Elle m’a dit chercher un appart à acheter dans Paris et j’ai pu déballer toute ma science sur ce point … On verra si elle revient vers moi pour me poser différents conseils …

Prochaine étape de la séduction : La laisser faire le premier pas !

Si je rationnalise le pourquoi du comment de l’attirance, celà donne au niveau des points communs :

- Un peu plus vieille que moi : j’ai toujours été attirée par les femmes plus agées
- Une bonne situation avec un salaire du même ordre que le mien : permet d’avoir un train de vie confortable
- A une démarche de construction du patrimoine : achat d’un appartement

Yesterday/Today I mainly leveled my Shaman.
I did that questline in Dragonblight etc. where at the end you get to see that AWESOME Video and fight with Varian Wrynn in Undercity…
So today he is 74 and I’ll continue leveling in Zul’Drak.
