It’s now our last day here in Sucre and we have done a lot of different things. The day started with a meeting at AVIDA where we said goodbye to some of the people that we’ve worked with. I’ve also been packing today and right now I’ve almost finished. Before we went out to dinner I taught Layda how to crochet. I’ve been crocheting a lot this year and it’s always fun to teach!

If you ever come to Sucre I highly recommend this restaurant. The food is excellent and the place and staff are really nice.

Packing, packing and more packing. Almost finished now, although my suitcase weighs a little more than 23 kg…..

My Birthday was in January on the 31st. I have been wanting to share all about my fun day! I woke up

My Birthday was in January on the 31st. I have been wanting to share all about my fun day!

I woke up in the morning and I saw this on Facebook…

My husband Kurt is a caricature artist and so good at surprises. Check out his website www.drawyoufunny.com .

That evening Kurt(meat lovin husband), Devri(my cutie baby) and Nicole (my lovely sister and Devri’s Aunt Coco) took me out to dinner. I picked out a vegetarian organic restaurant called Sage in downtown Salt Lake City. I have never been to a restaurant that has vegetarianism as their specialty. I was super excited to go and try it out! It was my birthday so meat loving husband gladly went along(I think that he was secretly excited to try it as well).

Their hot chocolate was amazing…

I make hot chocolate at home all the time with just three ingredients rice milk(or almond milk), cocoa, stevia.

For a appetizer we got the Mushroom Escargot which is shiitake mushrooms roasted in a garlic rosemary balsamic and red wine sauce with carrot butter pate and toasted baguette slices…

I loved the carrot butter pate and it it so much healthier than a traditional dipping sauce. When I find a similar recipe I will share!

The entree that I ordered was the TACOS VEGETARIANOS which is corn tortillas stuffed with grilled vegetables and choice of seasoned tempeh, tofu, fake chicken, or portobello mushrooms served with cilantro-lime vinaigrette tossed greens, garnished with sour cream (fake) and guacamole. My choice was portabella mushroom.

Meat lovin husband ordered the PHILLY CHEESE STEAK which is Choice of grilled chicken(it’s fake chicken), tempeh, or portabella mushrooms with caramelized onion, roasted bell pepper and tomatoes topped with cheese (fake cheese)…

I’m not a fan of all the processed fake vegan stuff. Who knows if its even that much better for you then the real stuff.

My sister Nicole ordered the MAGICAL WOK: Fresh coconut-sesame curry made with seasonal vegetables, toasted cashews and choice of tofu, tempeh, portabella mushrooms, or chicken poured over choice of brown rice or soba noodles prepared mild, medium, or hot…

I would order her entree in a heartbeat. I love Curry’s. We have curry at our house from time to time. It’s a great healthy meatless vegan meal. You can load it with lots of veggies and have it over rice!

The next restaurant I want to try in also down town Salt Lake called super natural cafe. Let me know if you would like to come!

After dinner we went to Nicoles house. She made my special birthday cake and ice cream. Its special because it was sugar free and dairy free!!!

Between the three of us we ate more than half the pan. I had three pieces!!! Best of all when I finished I didn’t feel sick or any lag of energy. She got the recipes from a blog called chocolate-covered Katie the healthy dessert blog you can get the cake recipe here and the ice cream recipe here.

Three days later on Sunday we celebrated my birthday with Kurts family. Kurt broke all the rules and got this gorgeous cake…

So I visited this place called, drum-roll please, Curry in a Hurry.Yea, I was a bit skeptical about

So I visited this place called, drum-roll please, Curry in a Hurry.Yea, I was a bit skeptical about it a first as well, but the name was catchy, so I figured why not give the place a chance.Turns out that the place was not all that bad after all. Even better, the restaurant was only one block away from the subway (6 train). Although how I ended up wondering on the streets of Manhattan for 20 minutes is still beyond me. Eventually though I got directions from a kind new yorker (who knew new yorkers could be so nice-myself included). The place doesn’t have space for parking, but it is a cabbie hotspot, so that’s a plus. Initially I thought it was just like any old restaurant, but it’s actually a self-serve restaurant. You can also dine in on the 2nd floor and order your food there, but its faster to order your food on the 1st floor. I learned this lesson only because I went directly to the second floor.

The place was not too bad looking either. It was not fancy, but comfortable. There was soft music playing, mostly instrumentals and the atmosphere was lively. People were talking and enjoying themselves. There was a cozy feeling to the place. The walls were painted a lemon yellow, which may or may not be off-setting for someone. The waiter was a bit grumpy, but I suspect that was because he worked a long shift and was ready to go home. I didn’t blame him, so I didn’t say anything. He actually improved by the end of the evening. Although I couldn’t tell if it was my camera or notepad that made him do a double take (wink!).

The food was good and cheep and I have the receipt to prove it. I ordered the combination platter A, which included one meat curry, one vegetable curry, basmati rice, and naan (bread). I got chicken curry and mutter paneer (paneer is a type of cheese cooked with green peas cooked with curry). I though the place had a good menu. The mango lassi was pretty good too.

I even met this guy. He has been coming to this restaurant for the past 2-3 years. He loves the self-service and the fact that the waiters remember his orders, since he eats there so often (apparently he didn’t notice the waiter’s grumpy mood). He ordered the chicken marsala with extra chili peppers and the waiters all know him. Anyways, he recommends this place for those who want to be left alone to enjoy their food or to eat some good indian food. I’d have to say that I agree with him. This place is really for a laid-back evening, nothing too formal or overbearing.

As Japanese is my favourite cuisine, I was keen to try this new Japanese restaurant in our local area. It’s a very quaint restaurant with very limited seating. We’ve been for lunch and dinner now. For lunch we arrived early to be the first in the door. For dinner it was packed but we managed to get the last seat as someone was leaving.

On our first visit we decided to try the lunch special set.

I had the kaisen don set and hubby had the chicken katsu don set.We thought the food at lunch was good value for money and well presented, well flavoured and the sashimi was fresh. The mini oden and pickles went down well with the meal and I also liked the free barley drink. I noticed on the menu they also had lots of other iced teas and coffees. We enjoyed the lunch.

The second visit for dinner, hubby had the yakitori dinner set and I had the sashimi dinner set. We were surprised that the yakitori set didn’t have any chicken but had a stick of chicken hearts, another balls of unknown meat, some chargrilled zucchini and a stick of unmemorable teriyaki salmon. It was ok but not our favourite meal at Ku-o so far.

My sashimi was better and I enjoyed it. Again like lunch it was served with japanese pickles, salad and oden.

Ku-o – well priced Japanese especially for lunch and some great choices. It’s small so you need to get in early or be prepared to wait for a table. The fitout is really nice and has a good Japanese feel with some cute Japanese decorations in the restaurant. New in the Sunnybank area and definitely worth trying.

Hubby and I had a sweet afterwork date night during the week at this wonderful restaurant which serves Vietnamese Japanese French fusion cuisine. The decor is impressive and opulent but I found the lighting a bit too dark for me as I like the visual aspect of eating. Others may see it as romantic mood lighting. Interestingly, at the next table a man proposed to his girlfriend and we watched happy for them as cheers and tears followed as she accepted.

We tried the seared japanese scallop (5.5 dollars each) – well cooked and presented but wow expensive mouthful.

We then tried the lemon cooked sashimi grade salmon with baguette which was very flavorsome (17 dollars); edamame (5 dollars); rice paper rolls with prawn and pork (16 dollars) all well presented and balanced flavours.

We then tried the spicy pear, apple cucumber salad which was fresh and had a perfect vietnamese dressing. I think I’ll try this salad combination at home.

We then had the 400 day grain fed tajima wagyu with a beetroot salad and horseradish cream. I liked it but for 36 dollars you have to savour every mouthful.

Libertine – opulent decor and nice place to take someone on a special occasion but expensive fine dining so maybe once for the experience. Also noticed on the way out that they had some courtyard dining suitable for a large group.

When I visit other cities I like to try something different that I can’t find in Brisbane. Chi

When I visit other cities I like to try something different that I can’t find in Brisbane. Chin Chin was a restaurant I read about on a plane magazine on the way to Melbourne. As serendipity would have it, I was sauntering through the city streets of Melbourne when I saw a tiny sign that said Chin Chin. Based on the positive magazine review of this restaurant I was keen to check it out.
It was 430pm and I was politely ushered to one of the many empty tables. Just as well I was early as I noticed by about 530pm lots of diners were coming in and a line up was forming at the door as the restaurant filled up. This restaurant and bar in Melbourne is clearly a popular place.

I found the menu enticing. The food seemed to be a fusion of Vietnamese, Thai and Chinese influences. I also noticed that every table had a bottle of sriracha chilli sauce which I love. I tried three items from the little something range.

I tried the chin chin pork roll ups with slaw and asian herbs which reminded me of peking duck pancakes with hoisin sauce. The pork was tender and flavours went well together.

I also tried the omelette with coffin bay oysters which was cooked just right and the oysters were huge and the chilli garlic sauce went well with it.

My favourite though was the kingfish sashimi with lime, chilli, coconut cream and thai basil – the fish was very fresh and coconut cream went well with the sashimi. Chin Chin – Definitely worth checking out when in Melbourne if you like modern asian dining and for the unique atomosphere.

Luke and I love to explore but sometimes for cost sake it’s better to stay local. Yet in this still very winter weather, no matter how tempting, we don’t want to get stuck inside. Fortunately we live in Corning.

Spending more time close to home, I realized I haven’t blogged about my new hometown.

(As I have written before click on any picture or word/phrase in orange to see more!)

Corning is probably known best for Corningware or Corelle. You know, all those plates and baking dishes you buy for wedding registries? (maybe even bought for mine). This is where it all got started.

Corning was first known as a lumber town because the Chemung river runs through it. When the industrial revolution hit the city became a center for the railroad. By 1868 it had become the new home for Corning Glass Works. This is why Corning’s nicknamed “Crystal City”. Tourist come in the summer to the Corning Museum of Glass featuring modern glass art, the science behind glass, glass uses, live glass blowing demonstrations, and an extensive collection on the history of glass.

On the same property is their glass making studio where you can sign up to make a featured item.

Ornaments Luke and I made in the glass studio in December

Or you can take one of many glass shaping/art classes at the glass making studio. You may remember my 2300 degrees blog; that event was hosted at the museum. Corning Inc.’s offices and one their research and development facilities, which test glass products for industry, science and technology, are also in Corning.

As much as I love history, what you will probably hear me talk most about is our historic downtown called the Gaffer District (a gaffer =a glass blower/maker). This area encompasses several blocks of glass art studios, museums, eclectic speciality shops, antique stores, bars, bakeries, and restaurants. Many events and festivals are held here annually (some of which I will attend in the future and share with all of you ).

If you are a history buff and want to know about Corning’s history: Click Here!

Want to know more about the historic downtown Gaffer District? : Check it out here!

or take a look at the Gaffer District’s Facebook page: Click here!

So that is a short tour of my new hometown. What do you think?

I never really intend for my blog to be have very many whiney posts but it is realistic updates of what is going on in my life, whether it’s pancakes, running or life in general. There haven’t been a lot of life in general posts because quite frankly I haven’t had a lot to report. I’m boring…sue me. I don’t have a lot of friends…sue me. I don’t go out binge drinking with undergradates that I’m trying to teach them alternatives to that culture…sue me. What am I going to recap each weekend…hanging out and eating popcorn while gossiping on a Friday night with my housemate? I know it probably thrills you. I can’t say it’s completely being busys fault but I can say that I haven’t really made the biggest effort to stay busy

I just quite frankly don’t care and I don’t plan to stay in the arctic tundra for my entire life. I really love my job (and educating students…that’s a post in itself) but outside of that…I don’t know. Long story short, I’m in a bit of a funk.

So yes, this WIAW with my parents has kind of turned into a bit of a life update which I’m fine with. As long as I attach a photo of ice cream, I’ll get everyone to just comment on how good ice cream is right? Moving on, I think part of the reason that I’ve had a hard time here is that the town itself is not runner friendly.

My dad: I don’t want that specialty crap. I just want plain vanilla ice cream…I’ll be bold and go with a cone.

Not runner friendly meaning the terrain and packed snow make it impossible to run outside. There aren’t many people that run…in Syracuse sure but that is 45 minutes away and if I plan to never eat again I guess I could make that drive everyday. Plus it’s obviously just a touch to cold to be outdoors anyways…Running isn’t my whole life though and that’s fine. I can mindlessly watch TV.

We also split Red Velvet Cake

While I’ve made great friends, most of my friends aren’t here. Though I’m not really sure where they are. Who exactly am I considering my friends that aren’t here, my family and Tim? I mean I guess both technically are.

For me personally, I find February to be an overall funky month. Last year at this time I was just recovering from a broken arm. We did have a warmer winter last year (compared to the winter 2 years ago when it was -30 quite a few times (good thing my hair froze multiple times to and from swim practice) This year it’s much more snowy and winter like but at least not that cold. Some people might enjoy the winter I’m not one of them…I just find February a month to get through. Though it’s the shortest month, it sure feels like the longest.

hotel coffee

Finally, I’m taking requests for more main girl videos so feel free to comment here, email or tweet me ideas.

Question for you:

What month is the hardest for you to get through?

Do you have a handful of closer friends or a bunch of good friends?

I had mentioned a few weeks ago that I was in New Orleans for two weeks for work and I am slowly coming up on my second trip to NOLA (New Orleans, LA). NOLA is what they refer to the city as if you are a local. I was actually staying just outside of the city in Convington. It’s a cute little town across the massive 27 mile long bridge.

For the majority of the time, we were just heading to work, then grabbing some dinner and going back to the hotel to either study some more, or just have some wine and try to relax just to do it all over again. I did my best to wake up in the morning and get a quick workout in and I have to say…I loved it. I was waking up at 5 to 530 in the AM and heading downstairs for a 45 minute workout. And I was meeting everyone at 730 to get to the office. It didn’t hurt that NOLA is an hour behind Boston, meaning I was really waking up at 630 in my time

We each had our own little apartment for the two weeks. It was so comfortable and some people were joking that it was bigger than their own apartments in NYC.

Who can argue?! The rooms were cleaned daily and we even had a grocery service. All you had to do was leave a list at the desk in the morning and groceries would be sitting in your refrigerator when you got back in the evening. AMAZING. For those two reasons, we didn’t really want to leave.

We had gym memberships at Franco’s, which is honestly the most amazing gym that I have ever been to. It is several floors of just about everything you could possibly think of. If I lived in the area, I would ABSOLUTELY be a member. Everything was so clean and modern. You could spend the whole day there. I also worked out with one of my new coworkers, and she showed me a few new exercises that will definitely be making it’s way up here.

We were also lucky enough to be there for the first weekend of Mardi Gras! A few of us headed in town on Sunday afternoon just to walk around, see some parades and just get a sense of New Orleans. We saw what was described as a LITTLE parade. I strongly disagree, because this was a MASSIVE parade in my experience. And they had the craziest costumes!

So each parade is actually called a Clan, and each clan has a court, queen, etc. This was the queen.

Tons, and tons of floats and people dressed up in these crazy costumes. There were also tons of schools with their dance groups, bands and anything else you can think of that’s fun to watch. Our favorite by far were these guys:

A whole bunch of Napoleon Dynamites! They were hilarious!

This other little kid was cracking us up too. He was so little and was really rocking out. The little kid had some serious moves. I tried so hard to get a picture but this was the best I got:

Even in that you can see how cute he was!!

We did get TONS of beads too. They just chuck them off the floats and you really need to watch because I swear they try to hit you in the face with them. And they whip they at you HARD!

It was so much fun. They were starting to set up for the Superbowl too, so the streets even on a Sunday were madness.

We obviously walked down Bourbon Street as well. It’s definitely not was I was picturing. For a Sunday afternoon, it was NUTS. I couldn’t imagine being there on a weekend night, of even Mardi Gras itself.

For food, we stopped at Cafe Beignet. I was told by so many people that we needed to try an Beignet, so that’s what we did! The cafe is at the music legends park on Bourbon Street.

We all had beignets, and they were delicious!! They are light and fully pastries covered in sugar. I can’t say they were anything good for you, but you just have to try them.

YUMMY. Really sugary though.

The signature drink on Bourbon Street is called a grenade. I can’t say that I tried it but they are apparently really good, and kind of fun looking.

We ended up going to a ton of different restaurants and in the interest of not boring you guys and just getting to the point, I’ll give you a quick 1 sentence review of the favorites.

Chimes: It is a seafood restaurant that is delicious. The seafood lasagna was the biggest hit but you can grab some other local specialties while enjoying live music. They also have goats in back that you can feed. I went 4 or 5 times to this place and loved it.

Don’s Seafood: Also a seafood restaurant that was delicious. It is casual and low key. Although I didn’t enjoy my meal because I wasn’t expecting fried foods, everyone else had good things to say. It is definitely a New Orleans original seafood place. I would compare the atmosphere to a nicer chilis.

Osaka: It is a Hibachi grill that was a lot of fun. The chef really knew how to entertain and has some tricks up his sleeve. The majority of us had hibachi, but the seaweed salad as an appetizer was also amazing. It was the first time I had tried anything like that. The hibachi was a bit salty, but if you ask them to tone down the salt, it’s amazing.

Copeland’s: Delicious Buffalo Chicken Dippers. We had them as an appetizer and they were amazing. Of all of the places, we were happiest with Copeland’s. We went several times and I we all loved the food. They had a mix of seafood and red meat foods. It still has a New Orlean’s take on it.

Trey Yuen: The best chinese food I have ever had. Hands down. They don’t over load the food with salt and they really have a unique flavor. I loved ever single bite of my meal there. It was delicious and I highly recommend it.

Those are the guys that I can think of right now, but I am heading back in just about a week for some more fun! This time we will be in the city the majority of the time so I will report back with what it is like when Mardi Gras isn’t in full swing!

Happy Friday!!!

I heard alot about this restaurant, and i went to try it yesterday … the place is awsome, the weather, atmosphire, decoration, garden around..the food wasn’t as expected, overrated and overpriced, but STILL loved the experience… and would go back again to eat kunafa and sip a cup of Turkish tea..

this mixture of olives and mayonais and olive oil .. is just perfect .. i loved it <3 and laban Ayran is so refreshing

هذا المزيج من الزيتون و زيت الزيتون و المايونيز مع الخبز الطازج … لذيذ جدا و لبن عيران منعش جدا

Gavurdagi Salad

علي نازك … عبارة عن متبل باذنجان و قطع لحم مقلية و قطعتين من الشيش كباب المحشية بالشظة … لذيذ جدا …

Ali Nazik, Mutabbal (mashed fried eggplant) topped with pieces of lamb, and 2 pieces of shish kebab stuffed with chilly paste..so recommended .. loved it

Iskander kebab

Iskender Kebab, very famouse dish in Turkey, its pieces of bread topped with shawarma (kebab) and tomato sauce .. comes with labneh. I have tried this dish back in Turkey many times and it was served in different way; usually the bread was saturated with yogurt topped with kebab and the sauce.. frankly speaking i didn’t like my experience of this dish in Lalezar because the lamb had a smell.

the prices was a bit over, especially for the main courses, but the atmosphire, the hospitality and the ambiance was worth it…

I love my bubble tea as much as my coffee. I’ve tried most of the bubble tea places in Brisbane and so on my recent visit to the Melbourne CBD I saw one that we don’t have here in Brisbane. I was drawn to the line up of customers. I decided to try the best seller – signature milk foam green tea. I liked it. The milk foam on top of the green tea was thick, creamy, velvety and sweet and to my surprise did go well with the green tea. I usually stick to plain green tea as the risk with most of these bubble tea drinks is the sugar added, although most of these bubble tea places will let you specify how much sugar you want to add.

I got to know this restaurant two weeks ago at a leadership conference, which was held to organize Sharjah Tatweer Forum .. And also knew it was a branch of the original restaurant, which is available in the United States .. And had brought it to Dubai, Miss Shaima AlShirawi …

In fact I’m not a fan of Japanese cuisine and Korean Although I am a fan of Chinese and Thai Food … But I wanted to take my little sister who loves sushi and Korean culture in general .. The restaurant is located on Sheikh Zayed Road to Abu Dhabi direction .. after the Four Point Sheraton Hotel .. It’s hard to find parkings in the weekends … And possible to stop your car and enjoy walking in the fresh air ..

We ordered four dishes .. Jamping Cali Roll, Lion King Roll, chicken ya Soba, and the korean salad (Kimchi) and the dessert was tempura ice cream and three drinks .. Miyabi Mojito and two Blue Hawaii

The food history buffs will be pleased to know that Nutella was invented by Pietro Ferrero – m

The food history buffs will be pleased to know that Nutella was invented by Pietro Ferrero – master baker and founder of Ferrero, the chocolatier - in the early 40s. Due to WWII, cocoa and chocolate were in short supply in Italy. Using hazelnut (abundant in the Piedmont region) for Ferrero’s chocolate spread allowed Pietro to extend his company’s slim chocolate supply and stay in business. Several decades later, Italian kids and adults alike would not be able to imagine a world without Nutella. The best way I have to describe how we feel about this breakfast and snack staple is asking you – my American readers – to think about the role Peanut Butter has played in your childhood and allergies permitting, your current lives.

Over the years Italian have become inventive on how to use Nutella not only for spreading but also for baking and here’s one of my favorite Nutella recipes: the Rotolo alla Nutella (Swiss Roll with Nutella).

Ingredients:

For the Swiss roll

Just under /34 cup of sugar + 1 tbs

¾ cup flour

5 medium eggs (yolks separated from the whites

½ tbs honey

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 pinch of salt

For the Filling:

10-12 oz Nutella

For sprinkling:

Powdered sugar to taste

I’m sure that after you’ve tried this recipe you, like won’t be able to imagine a World without Nutella! Let us know what you think about Nutella: Comment on this blog, send us an email at info@cuitalytravel.com, post it on facebook or tweet us @CivesUrbe

Today Starbucks – a US based international coffee chain opened its first ever store in Delhi. On the mission to expand its reach through out the world Starbucks is on a partnership deal with Tata Global Beverages to dominate this market. Connaught Place is situated in the heart of Delhi, India’s capital. Connaught Place is famous since British-era due to its construction which was totally planned. This new Starbucks outlet is having staff of approximately 40 people and is a 3500 square foot store. India is always seen as developing market with huge potential to grow and this Seattle-based coffee chain is aiming to grow in this potentially huge market. Back in the October 2012 Starbucks opened its first store in Mumbai & two more store in Indira Gandhi International Airport (since its outside the city limit we don’t consider it as delhi.)

Enough with the geography- Starbucks (Delhi) menu consists of variety of food items like sandwiches both veg and non-veg to name a few such as Mediterranean Foccasia with Roast Vegetables, Wild Mushroom Pockets & Chicken Ham & Roasted Peppers Ciabata, Salmon & Cheese Croissant, Chicken and Spinach Quiche apart from that you can also find a variety of cakes, pastries, bread, muffins etc. aren’t you forgetting something??? Yes these are just secondary food items, Starbucks is famous for its beverage portfolio and they are having extensive range of beverages that they are offering apart from it just to keep the Indian culture in mind they are also offering Tata tea and Himalayan mineral water.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

			_height: expression(this.scrollHeight >= 410 ? '410px' : 'auto');

Entry of Starbucks Food & Beverage segment along with a joint venture with Tata beverage group is surely exciting and promising. Starbucks menu that is carefully designed (jute ropes, fiber, furniture etc) providing a local feeling which is attractive too that will suit to any and all customers irrespective of their age and choice everyone will get something of their favorite, ambience & interiors is good which provides an inviting and relaxed atmosphere to get pleasure from the well-known Starbucks Experience in Delhi. Being an Indian I’ll suggest you to try Lal Achari Mirch Turnover, Murg Kathi Wrap, Murg Makhani Pie at this Starbucks stores in Connaught Place (Yes, It’s True). If the rumors are to be believed than the next stop of Starbucks is at coffee capital of India and India’s IT hub – Bangalore

Starbucks Store Address – Hamilton House, Block A, Connaught Place (Inner Circle).

Last night before we went to sleep, Jason kept talking about going to Blue Moon Cafe in Baltimore so that he could get their famous Captain Crunch French Toast. So this morning we decided to try it out. Blue Moon Cafe has become pretty famous in Baltimore and is notorious for not only their French toast, but the wait, luckily for us there was only a 15 minute wait but even if there was a longer one the food is definitely worth it! Jason got his Captain Crunch French Toast and it was amazing!

It tasted exactly like Captain Crunch with French Toast underneath. I snagged a few bites and I definitely will be getting this next time I go. I got one of their specials. It was an Italian style omelet with Salami Proscuito Provolone Cheese topped with an Olive Tapanade, served with Hash browns. It was also really good! I could only eat half of it because it was sooo filling.

Blue Moon Cafe, like a lot of resturants in Baltimore is inside an old row home, and is all on the first floor. I loved the feeling inside the restaurant, it was very cozy and welcoming, and it was beautifully decorate. I especially loved the photos they had.

After our amazing breakfast we came home and let our food digest before we put some stuff in to the attic for storage. After that I headed to the grocery store to pick up a couple things for this week, and also to make some Queso dip for tonights game! YAY RAVENS!!!!! For tonight I made Queso Dip from Skinnytaste. It turned out really good and I can’t wait to see what everyone thinks.

We are heading over to Jason’s dad’s house to watch the game. I’m so excited! I really hope the Ravens win that would just be awesome!

This morning I walked out to the car and it as snowing! This weather is so crazy, Tuesday and Wednes

This morning I walked out to the car and it as snowing! This weather is so crazy, Tuesday and Wednesday it was close to 70 degrees and then today its snowing! Mother Nature really should make up her mind.

All I really care about is that the weather stays cold the next week or so. Next Thursday Jason, a bunch of our friends and I are going up to Wisp for a long weekend, and doing some skiing so I need some cold weather and snow up there!

For some reason this Friday is very Mexican themed. For lunch today I took some of the left over taco meat and I’m making essentially a Taco salad for lunch. And tonight we are going out for Mexican. Early in the week a couple of girls from work started talking about Mexican and when one of them brought up the restaurant Plaza Garibaldi in Glen Burnie I had intense need to go there ASAP. We decided since a couple of the girls haven’t been there that we would go there for dinner Friday night. Ashley and I knew if we didn’t bring our men we would probably be murdered so, to keep the peace we decided to invite them too.

It’s really hard to be healthy at a Mexican Restaurant you have so many things that tempt you, chips and salsa, beer, tacos, quesadillas, nachos. My game plan normally is to get the Fajitas and not eat the tortillas, beans, rice or sour cream. And tonight, I sort of stuck with that, except I was so hungry by the time we got there I’m pretty sure that I devoured an entire basket of chips.

After inhaling the chips, our dinner finally came. I stuck with my plan of fajitas and just eating the chicken, with the vegetables. It was so delicious! I cleaned the plate.

After dinner we came home and I assembled my gear for my run tomorrow. My boyfriend and friends can’t understand how I can run in this weather. So I thought I’d show you all what I wear for these cold runs.

The key to being warm is layering. So I start with leggings, the ones I’m using tomorrow are gray Nux leggings that I got in my pvbody box. They are awesome, don’t ride up and don’t roll down. Because I’m not entirely comfortable with running in just leggings I put a pair of shorts on as well. For the top half I layer an Under Armour tank top, as well as another cotton t-shirt. The last thing I put on is the Lululemon Tech Zip up I got last month. It is seriously the warmest jacket I have and I love it! Tomorrow we have 3 miles on the books for our TNT training run!

Short and Sharp session today – 30min in total. I enjoy training under time constraints. Heade

Short and Sharp session today – 30min in total.

I enjoy training under time constraints. Headed out to the movies tonight but before I went I had to get my workout in so with my GYMBOSS timer set at 12min it was 16kg swings and runs – aim to complete as many rounds as possible in that 12 minutes then straight into 12 minutes of non-stop skipping. Soaking wet and feeling great afterwards…that’s what I’m talking about.

Training and socializing can co-exist. The key is to prioritize your training session and arrange to meet your friends for dinner a little later once your done training.

Get to the gym be it in the morning, at lunch or straight after work – put in a solid training session – aka get in – go hard – go home. Race the clock give yourself no more than 40 minutes to get your workout complete and hit it. You will feel great for working out, you will be on a natural high from all the endorphins exercise produces, you will go out with more confidence and you will be the life of the party…

You do not need to forgo your training to socialize. Simply organize yourself accordingly – training first – friends second and rock both

If some of you follow me on Facebook or twitter you knew I was not feeling the best yesterday. I

If some of you follow me on Facebook or twitter you knew I was not feeling the best yesterday. I’m not sure exactly what it was, but I’m glad to say I’m back on the mend and feeling a whole lot better then I was yesterday. Saturday night I met up with my family at Roy’s my sister and mom headed down to Florida Sunday morning and I wanted to have dinner with them one more time. I ended up going with Roy’s Restaurant Week Menu. Everything I had was delicious. I started with the Crab Lumpia, which was crab meat, carrots wrapped in a wonton wrapper.

For my main meal I got the Tiger Shrimp with pork Cassoulet. While the shrimp were excellent, I thought the pork cassoulet was too heavy for my taste but it was still pretty good.

For dessert I got the hot chocolate cake with ice cream, and my dad got nutella creme brule. Both were so good! I think the chocolate cake was the best.

It was a lot of fun hanging out with everyone, Francesco one of our friends from Italy is going to school at Towson and came with us too.

If anyone knows how to prevent redeye with the Iphone camera, please let me know. I can’t seem to take a picture without it. Anyways, after dinner I headed home to bed but woke up in the middle night with killer stomach pains. Sunday I spent pretty much the whole day in bed, luckily Jason is very good at taking care of me when I’m sick. By the end of the day I was feeling a million times better and today while I’m a little worn out I’m feeling a heck of a lot better then yesterday. For dinner tonight I made Skinnytaste’s pot pie soup. It is so delicious and on a cold and rainy day like it was today it hit the spot.

I also got to use my new La Creuset Pot that my mom got me for Christmas. I’ve been wanting one for a while, and finally got it but hadn’t gotten a chance to use it until tonight. It is definitely my new favorite pot.

Exit Glacier is a short distance from the town of Seward. It is a tiny sample of Kenai Fjords National Park and the only section that is accessible by vehicle.
