<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Here&#8217;s the deal.  Once you sign on the dotted line for a student loan, there&#8217;s no running away from it.  Part of agreeing to take a federally subsidized student loan is agreeing that you can never get rid of it, except to retire the debt itself.  And that&#8217;s really the way it should be, right?<br />
There is some relief to be had from making a payment mistake resulting from having too many different student loan accounts, and that&#8217;s a debt consolidation loan.  This financial vehicle will in effect pay off all your other accounts, and allow you to make one payment at one rate to one bank.  It can greatly simplify your life, and as long as you don&#8217;t extend your payments or take a high interest rate it&#8217;s not a bad idea.</p>
