I don’t have a screenshot of the old RexHammock.com design but the new one has completely transformed not only its blogging platform but content as well. RexHammock is now using mini blogging platform Tumblr and has removed work or business postings, instead focusing on music or music reviews, videos, politics, and perhaps anything but the former. He joins tumblr Fred Wilson of AVC in this approach.

Well, I do have a Tumblog.

Rex Hammock makes an interesting observation about Ron Paul, although he says his post is not about politics. It’s not, actually. But interesting nonetheless…

If I were blogging about politics, I’d be predicting that Paul’s campaign will continue to display the story-arc of the Howard Dean netroots movement and how Paul’s campaign will likely use the money raised by the those internet people to hire “a super expert†who will get paid lots of money while the campaign crashes and burns, but that’s okay, because that super expert will still get paid even more money to write a memoir and give speeches about the experience.

But this is not a post about politics.

Go read what he’s talking about.

We get asked allot how our news is organized on NashvillesNews.net — the theme, topics, update

We get asked allot how our news is organized on NashvillesNews.net — the theme, topics, update schedule etc.

Its a good question and a piece today by Rex Hammock (big hat tip to Rex as usual) proves that if you wait long enough someone out in the blogosphere will answer your question for you.

Rex points out there are two ways to use RSS. The first one — usually detailed in any howtos on using a newsreader — is to categorize and fuss endlessly over the organization.

The other way is to just let it flow like Dave Winer says like a river.

We like to think we are like a clean, crisp fast moving river of news. Picture a mountain stream and Coors beer commercials and you get our own mental vision.

What Dave Winer said about news flow:

“But there’s another kind of reader, an aggregator, that works differently, and I think more efficiently for the human reader. Instead of having to hunt for new stories by clicking on the titles of feeds, you just view the page of new stuff and scroll through it. It’s like sitting on the bank of a river, watching the boats go by. If you miss one, no big deal. You can even make the river flow backward by moving the scollbar up. To me, this more approximates the way I read a print newspaper, actually it’s the way I wish I could read a print newspaper – instead of having to go to the stories, they come to me. This makes it easier for me to use my brain’s powerful scanning mechanism. It’s faster, I can subscribe to more, and my fingers do less work.’
