A dash of gold in a blanket of silvery sheen reminds me of twinkling Christmas lights in a snowy city. Sadly, our summery island has no snowflakes teasing our faces as we saunter down the streets, buying gifts for our loved ones and meeting long-time friends for that warm cuppa tea and coffee. But movies kept that image alive within me and one day, I hope to spend Christmas in a place where there is snow. And for all you lovelies out there in the falling snow, keep warm and take care. I sure hope it’s not so wintry that it hurts.

These creations mix gold and silver color, and the results can be pretty amazing. Some allow you to jumble girlish charm with boyish chic, spruce up that midnight party glamor with simple allure, or even return to the simplicity of everyday life, noticing things that you have not. What’s life without taking a moment to appreciate life’s little wonders and small gestures of kindness, right?

This year, I created a simpler, yet just as dramatic idea for decorating the tops of my kitchen cabinets. I found a felt ribbon that has a jingle bell embellishment sewn along its length. Using 3M poster strips, I had no problem hanging the ribbon and getting it to stay in place. And the 3M strips are not only removable, but they do not damage your wood or walls, according to the package guarantee. It’s a much simpler alternative to hanging garland for those of you who are very busy, this time of year, and need a quick decorating idea.

By Blerona

Your wedding is probably going to be the best day of your life. And when it’s over your photos are all you have to keep the memory of your beautiful wedding day alive. They tell the story of your pre-wedding jitters and preparation to the cake cutting and sometimes even the honeymoon. Instead of keeping all those memories in a box, why not make a scrapbook out of it.

Here are some easy steps to make it more enjoyable

Remember to keep mementos from the wedding such as invitations, party favors, confetti, champagne corks and other incredible embellishments.

Instead of getting guests to sign in the traditional guest book, get them to write on cards about a favorite memory, kindly marital advice or congratulatory messages. Then all these handwritten cards will go into a scrapbook together with the photos.

Write down lines of a special poem or song on different pages of your scrapbook.

Get second copies of photos from other people, especially if their shots are better than yours. What ever you choose make sure you absolutely love the photo.

Lay out the pages in chronological order, you can add pictures from your first date, first kiss, first vacation, then engagement, showers, wedding and honeymoon.

My sick car is mended (hurrah)! This week has ended on a high. Yesterday I spent a few hours preparing food as we had some friends over. I took a risk and tried a new recipe from Nigella’s ‘Feast’ book. It was a Tunisian meatball dish and apart from a dodgy sweded (thanks Sainsburys!) we had a great time. My friend lent me her Mums tagine and it worked out well (genuine thanks Nigella!).

I also achieved something I’ve wanted to do for years; recreate a dessert that a coffee shop I used to work at in Colchester called ‘Poppy’s’ used to sell. It is a layered meringue with a lemon curd and cream filling. I didnt quite get it exactly right but it all got eaten!!

I’ve got a Stampin’Up! party tonight . The hostess is a lovely girl from my childrens school and it should be a great night. We’re doing simple Christmas cards and it’ll be great to have a chilled evening after a hectic week. The piccy is of a covered chocolate bar as a prize for the evening. I just love the ribbon. I could tie it on everything! The cute ladybird and ‘be happy’ is from a hostess set called Darling Dots, that my friend may well get tonight. I’m happy to take party bookings over the phone, so dont hesistate to give me a ring!

I’m also planning a series of craft classes in the New Year. A couple of people have asked about them, so I’ll take the plunge and get organised. They’ll be in Liverpool and as soon as I’ve sorted the schedule, I’ll let you all know! Talking about new things I have had some projects featured in Crafts Beautiful in their Christmas special and I’ve got more coming up in the January and February issue. Its very exciting and I love a good challenge so its right up my street!

Well, I’d better make tracks! Thanks for looking!

Recipe, Cardstock on the tag- Real red and So Saffron.

So Saffron ribbon, Versamark and clear embossing powder (all from Stampin’Up!)

Textured cardstock and patterned paper from my stash!

There is now a PowerPoint Ribbon Add-In from QuantumPM that will take care of the problem, it’s called PowerAid. One of the helpful features of PowerAid is the Select Objects function which allows selection of objects by their type. PowerAid provides two ways to identify your selection criteria – a dropdown box accessed through the ribbon and a persistent dialog box. Say you want to change the width of all lines on the slide. With PowerAid’s Select Objects function you can easily select all of the lines on the slide with 1 click and change them to the style you want.

Once you have the lines selected you can use the easily accessible “Quick Styles” to find the line style you want.

Any type of object can be selected with the friendly dialog. No longer is it hard to select objects inside a group or hidden by other objects.

Check out PowerAid today at:

You can easily make this cardigan youself. All you need is a plain cream coloured cardigan, a metal chain (diy-stores) and a cream coloured ribbon. Simply weave the ribbon through the metal chain, then hand- sew the chain to the cardigan using cream coloured thread. Don’t forget to sew small pieces to the pockets!

Oh man, this is making me go way back with the corny slang. Does anyone recall, “Tubular?” I think we can thank the Ninja Mutant Ninja Turtles for popularizing that one.

I think it’s obvious that I’m liking this idea, lots. My ribbon and string finally will have a safe place to find rest, until I cut them with my scissors. Hmmm…

For Monday’s challenge, I decided to put myself on a budget. You ready to see the outrageous l

For Monday’s challenge, I decided to put myself on a budget.

You ready to see the outrageous leash I gave myself?

Are you???

My budget was. . . . . . $0.00

That’s right! Zero dollars and zero cents. Free. Gratis. No monies.

The pink corduroy, lace, pumpkin goblets, real silverware, and cloth napkins were all pulled from Mom’s stash. Since the china is currently being kept at her house too, I guess you could throw that on the list too. {Thanks Mom!!}

What didn’t I borrow from Mom?? The yellow IKEA tree.

Hanging on that punchy tree are the only things I actually made for my tablescape {is that even a word?!}, my thankful leaves.

Those had to have cost money, right?! NOPE!!

They’re made from paper bags.

Yup. Simple, free, paper bags that brought groceries home from the grocery store.

The front side of our bags was printed with an advertisement but the back was completely blank – inside & out.

I started by cutting out the back side of the back. It’s just about the size of 2 ~ 8.5×11 sheets of paper laid out side-by-side {or about 8.5×22″}.

Cut out 2 ~ 8.5×11″ pieces of paper bag. In your favorite word processing program, create your text. Print it out on your pieces of paper bag.

Here’s mine, if you want to use it.

Then I ran the sheets through the corrugater/krimper thing {blue plastic thing at the top of the pic}.

Using a real leaf for inspiration, I cut out leaves.

This was honestly was the most difficult part for me. It took a lot of finessing for me to get something that remotely looked like a leaf and not a weird blob. I could have fit more leaves per paper bag page if I had traced a template. But I’m lazy. And that would have added a whole extra step or few {find a template, print & cut it out, trace}.

One time through the krimper didn’t make them as wavy as I’d have liked, so I ran the individual leaves through a second time after I cut them out.

Sidebar: I did the place cards the same exact way!

Punch holes in the stem end. Thread your favorite ribbon through. Tie.

All done!!

Have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
