Since I am lazy busy I have not had the chance to do live blogging during this season (I hope to do better for 2010 haha). Anyway, I do think that Patricia Papen looked great at the Belgian Grand Prix. Some may say her outfit was an overdose of black, but I happenned to like it. Patricia was most certainly going for the “tough luxe chic” look with the leather moto jacket, leggings, and whimsical feminine shoes.

Overall the look was chic though I do think her tunic should have been wee bit longer as I subscribe to the “tights/leggings are not pants” mantra.

I found this great Guardian article about internet style icons, which .. perhaps are my favorite thing ever.

I actually consult http://streetstyl.es/ every morning before getting dressed for inspirational tool – and yes, I know that’s embarrassing (or revolting) but I have a shopping addiction and I can be a little OCD about my attire.

I’ve become so bored with magazines and style imposed upon the masses by those within the industry. It just doesn’t seem current anymore. The internet offers such immediacy that consulting such publications seems pointless, style evolves from the streets – from the masses! Everything that I end at lusting over in W (hello Gareth Pugh/Rick Owens) seems so intangible as I lack the necessary funding to enable procurement.

Anyways – I dig the DIY, the tangible – great ideas that I can integrate into my own style. But as a busy student, who might have carpal tunnel syndrome, I can’t really spend that much time scowering the web for for “new internet girlfriends”.

However – Thanks to the Guardian, I have this new hottie.

I’m really digging the hair and lone earring. It makes me want to get my ear pierced but I’m deathly afraid of getting an earring caught on something and ripping the lobe. If I had earrings like that, I’d likely manage to get them stuck in the windows of my car when rolling up the windows. (I am completely serious. I manage to get my hair caught daily.)

I’ve been getting really, really sick of my clothes. Besides the small suitcase that my mom sent back with T in September, I’ve been wearing the same clothes over and over since June (I tend to spend my extra money on food, yoga classes, traveling and okay…shoes.)

A variation of my new Rick Owens boots: combat boot in front, stiletto in back.

Dressing is even harder because I have to try and look business casual for work  in case I need to look professional or something. I told our Marketing Manager, D, that if I had it my way I would wear leggings, T-Shirts and killer shoes, all day every day. This shirt from 80’s Purple would be perfect for going out in.

I've never met a T-Shirt I didn't like...ok there was that one time.

My friend and Omaha based style blogger, Lindsey Baker, of Only Style Remains the Same is feeling a similar vibe. She’s started the Uniform Project and will post variations of her “uniform”: a top, bottom and top layer daily for 30 days. I give her props: one for blogging once a day which I will try and aspire to and two for knowing her personal style so well. She says, “You’ll see me wearing the same pieces in different combinations, so if that bores you, well, wait until the next day. Remember I am not a super-funky, outlandish girl. There are other blogs for that sort of thing. But the art of style is, in part, about the reinvention of ordinary pieces. And I love ordinary pieces.”
I’m not ready/ can’t go back to a uniform yet, but I still admire hers.

Denim is making a major comeback for Spring 2010. Popular styles for the upcoming season include the sleeveless denim vest & classic trucker, both of which were essential staple pieces in the early 90’s. Denim is reimagined for Spring  as an all-over fabric taking full denim ensembles to the next level; seen above in a gym bag, hi-top trainer, tote and clutch.

Katsui graduated from Central Saint Martins College after studying at Parsons The New School for Design. Yagi graduated from Doshisha University and Central Saint Martins College.
The brand, mintdesigns was launched in 2001. They have been in Tokyo Collection since ‘03 S/S. The awards they won include the Moet et Chandon New Designer’s Award in 2005. In 2007, mintdesigns garage store opened in Shibuya PARCO. They presented their collection in the 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT THIS PLAY! show. In 2008, they presented the opening show at São Paulo Fashion Week for ‘09 S/S. Both designers currently hold positions as guest professors at the Faculty of Art and Design at Osaka Seikei University. In 2009 they presented their collection at the Milano Salone TOKYO FIBER ‘09.Mint Designs turned out a dainty crop of dresses featuring details such as shimmery stripes, textured fabric and quirky graphics. One frock featured a darling print of tiny Charlie Chaplins, while another showcased circular cutouts along the sides.

Better watch your back, Sasha Fierce! Looks like a new fashion bitch is in town.  One of my favorite fashion icons is making the publicity rounds, ‘cuz her next album is about to drop. So she needs to be all over the press, natch. And what better way to draw attention to yourself than wearing increasingly ridiculous clothes?

Apparently, our beloved glamazon’s been researching fashion styles – probably to go along with her new album. Says RiRi: “In the past few months I’ve done a lot of research in the fashion world because I wanted to work with a bunch of designers that are kinda underground, people who aren’t the obvious.” RiRi’s even been spotted in some of my favorite designers: Gareth Pugh, McQueen, and Rick Owens. Way to work the goth chic.

If you ask me, RiRi out-fierces Beyonce’s any day. Rihanna is so high fashion it’s sickening. To me, being high fashion means anticipating the photograph – you always look like an editorial. Little miss Beyonce has no innate fashion sense. But does she need one? This bitch could sing an album of Nutritional Facts and I would buy it. Rihanna’s a fashion icon, and B’s a voice-box.
