50 Cent’s sales for his latest studio LP Before I Self Destruct were disappointing to say the least. The G-Unit President only managed to sell 161,000 copies of the project despite his tireless promotion and ongoing rap beefs. Now as news of his poor sales hits the net, his main rival is declaring victory over him. As previously reported, 50 took disrespect to new heights when he flew Ross’s baby mother and child to Las Vegas to parlay with himself and Floyd Mayweather. In retaliation to that and several other shots Ross spoke out against 50 at a recent concert.

Rick Ross took the stage with DJ Khaled for the 305 DJ’s birthday celebration. Before performing his hit “This Is the Life” from Trilla, he spoke on his nemesis’s poor sales week stating,

“So we celebrating my nigga birthday, but we’re also celebrating the demise of a pussy. R.I.P. to the donkey, we buried him. It feel good, nigga. Don’t look surprised, you knew we was gonna do it. There’s only one record that can describe the feeling.”

Now that 50 Cent’s disappointing first week numbers are official, rival Rick Ross is now claiming victory in their 2009 feud.

In a recent concert for DJ Khaled’s birthday, Ross proclaimed full credit for 50 Cent’s lowest debut week (161,000) of his previously multi-platinum career.

“So we celebrating my n***a birthday, but we’re also celebrating the demise of a p***y. R.I.P. to the donkey, we buried him,” Ross stated on stage with Khaled. “It feel good, n***a. Don’t look surprised, you knew we was gonna do it. There’s only one record that can describe the feeling.”

Concluding his victory speech, Ross went into “This Is the Life,” the fourth single from his 2008 gold sophomore LP Trilla.

As soon as the New Year bells rang, Rick Ross ended almost a year of speculation about his feelings towards 50 Cent. He released “Mafia Music,” which directly dissed 50 Cent. At the time, 50 Cent was trying to bait Lil Wayne into a feud. Immediately, his attention shifted to Rick Ross.

However, as the year went on, the diss records stopped being exchanged as frequently. At one point, Rick Ross had even declared himself the winner in the feud between the two. Ross had even thought about dissing Eminem. Once he ruled that out, he reached out to Dr. Dre for a collaboration.

50 Cent, on the other hand, shifted back into his feud with Game and teamed up with Beanie Sigel to go at Jay-Z. In the meantime, Rick Ross began promoting his group, the Triple C’s. Most people thought that the feud between the two rappers was forgotten. Recently, 50 Cent took some pictures with one of Ross’ sons, a definite low-blow.

Since that time, 50 Cent has been criticized for the picture. He said that Rick Ross made things personal, first, and he is only doing what is right. Recently, 50 was asked about his feud with the Miami rapper. In response, 50 said that he had no plans of ending the feud anytime soon. For starters, he said that the feud was great for hip hop.

Unlike other rappers, 50 Cent said that he just cannot ignore rap beef. He said that when a rapper disses him, he is going to respond to it. 50 Cent said that especially when he could go at a rapper and end his career, he is not going to simply ignore him. 50 said that he could end Ross’ career and make a portfolio of the dead bodies to let future challengers know not to come at him if they are not ready.

Apparently, there is no truce in sight between 50 Cent and Rick Ross. As it stands, neither rapper is willing to back down from the other.

He’s favourite for songs like Bling Blao and Diddy Bop, which featured Fabolous,  Kardinal Offishal, Currency and Coco Chanel. He also had a show up role in the biography move Biggie where he battled Notorious for a fight, that really took place like that.

In 2009 he got signed on Bad Boy.  In April he then released the first single, called Hottest In Da Hood, which Diddy, Jadakiss, Rick Ross and OJ Da Juiceman on the remix,of his upcoming album.

Rick Ross affiliates Triple C’s have taken aim at legend KRS-One and the New Boyz in response to what they deem are hypocritical critiques of their style of Hip-Hop.

In a recent interview for rollingout.com, the 3 man group resurrected the 3 year old debate Nas coined with his 2006 Hip-Hop Is Dead LP, and launched criticism at KRS-One in spite of the Bronx veteran dropping an album in early 2007 entitled Hip-Hop Lives.

For them, Hip-Hop’s health is based on the fact there is still money being made, and not the stance of some fans and critics that the genre has seen a downward spiral due to the lack of creativity from certain artists.

“You notice it’s the people that always say ‘Hip-Hop is dead,’ they ain’t got no money,” argued Torch. “And to top it all off, it’s like Hip-Hop is dead but when they had their run, the same people that say these things, they be in pictures with AK’s, they forgot all that now. You need to do your track record, do your homework and the record that people are pointing their fingers, you gotta realize, every time you point your finger, the other four are pointing right back at you. You gotta understand what’s going on. So at the end of the day, I ain’t with the finger pointing and the other four pointing back at you, but at the end of the day, music is music. You stay in your genre of music whether its backpack, dancing, and let us stay in ours. We make real music.”

To accentuate Torch’s point, rapper Gunplay dismissively shouted out Boogie Down Productions’ landmark debut Criminal Minded while a picture of BDP’s politically charged and Malcolm X-inspired cover for By All Means Necessary flashed on screen.

Triple C’s then turned their attention to teen group the New Boyz, implying the duo were gay due to their choice of clothing.

“We don’t knock nobody’s hustle because we don’t want anyone to knock ours, because we might knock your head off,” stated Breed. “If your jeans tighter than my b***h’s, hey, we’re not knocking your alternative lifestyle. It’s on you if you want to wear sparkling beat chains. But don’t [criticize] when we talk about our sticks, bricks, when we’re doing our thing because we’re going to feed the streets regardless. We talk about what we know.”

Triple C’s debut album Custom Cars & Cycles was released on October 27.

Curtis “50cent” Jackson finally released his hyped up album, ” Before I Self Destruct“, which the rapper claims is his last. The project, that comes with a movie written and directed by him [50cent], only managed to move between 150 – 160K units. From what l got from fans feed back, they say he has lost it and just aint the same as when he came out. The Queens Bridge rapper’s switch from gangsta rap to R’n'B/hiphop type style didn’t work to his advantage, like it did for LL Cool J. Prior to the release of the album, he shed tears for Rick Ross and Tripple C’s on their failure to move a lot of units and took shots at Jay-z as way of promoting himself. Maybe karma just came too quick for ‘Pimpin’ Curl’, i guess its true that ” Men lie, women lie, numbers DON’T”

After having my mind blown by Star Trek, I flipped over to the American Music Awards in time to see Jennifer Lopez’s comeback attempt performing a song whose name I don’t recall and am not inclined to look up.

While 1999-2000 really seems like just yesterday, the decade has, indeed, come to  a close and things are not what they once were, as evidenced by Lopez’s tumble after vaulting off the back of a dancer while wearing five-inch heels. She recovered from the tumble, gathering herself enough to ask the crowd (via lip-synch) “You miss me?” The resounding response seemed to be “Once upon a time.”

Now, I could go in on Jennifer Lopez about the tumble or the singing poorly and such, but I have to admit: When she fell I gasped. I clapped my hand over my mouth and actually felt bad. Seeing any performer stumble is cringe-worthy because it really is like dying a thousand deaths on stage, but this emotion had something more to it.

I imagine anyone who saw it thought to themselves “JLo woulda nailed that. Jennifer Lopez, mother of two out of the limelight for a few years, apparently cannot.” Watching great performers lose a step always kind of hurts a little.

A few more thoughts on the AMAs in no particular order:

- Adam Lambert has vocal talent, but I think seeing him perform last night proved that performing live in a concert setting takes a particular talent that plenty of people don’t nail their first time–if ever. As I watched him cavort about the stage as in his spiked suit get-up, face-humping dancers and, at one point, pulling at the crotch chain of a woman in leather underwear, I couldn’t help but think to myself, “This is one time when being gay is helping this dude.” There are things each group can get away with that other can’t e.g. Blacks and “nigga”; women and “see you next Tuesday”…and I feel like crotch-chain pulling is not something I could do successfully.

-Taylor Swift is a talented kid. I was aware of her Pre-Kanye and can say that she does her thing and moves units with pre-Napster-like efficiency. In the pop sense, she is the real deal. That being said, enough is enough. Her windfall from being the little (white) girl who had her moment stolen from the drunken (black) dude is without parallel. Her beating Michael Jackson at anything just looks terrible in the historical sense, but I frankly think it’s worse that she beat a living person by the name of Lady Gaga. This robbery was tantamount to whoever won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar over Val Kilmer for his role in Tombstone. Really. Twitterer @BlackCanseco summed it up nicely when he said, “Once again #TaylorSwift is gettin more sympathy/support than Rihanna. And dude neva laid a glove on her.”

-Gaga is a no-pants wearing beast. Just talented and terribly mesmerizing. Still, those who worship at her altar should keep in mind that she’s Cyndi Lauper with the benefit of the internet.

-HD doesn’t flatter anyone. That’s not even throwing shade; it’s a sad reality that really can’t help the ego of anyone who has cameras pointed at them all the time. Watching the various acts, I started subconsciously touching my own face and thinking “Damn, they’d see every possible ingrown hair scenario on my already big-looking head”. It’s just like one of those giant “Oh crap, I’m ugly!” vanity mirrors women have on their nightstands.

-Jermaine Jackson is eating this up. I’m sure he misses his little brother–I’m sure of it–but he’s eating this up.

-Whitney’s a cagey veteran who really does deserve credit for bouncing back as she has, but people who mention this should do so with a hint of context. Yes; she came back from the brink, but you’re not really ever on the brink brink when you’re a wealthy world-famous entertainer who wasn’t foolish enough to squander every dime you have and thus, have the resource to come back from whatever needs coming back from.

-No big deal Jay but…numbers lie all the time. In fact, they’re often skewed for the purpose of deception so…yeah.

-Eminem began “Crack a Bottle” announcing, boxer-style, his height and weight, then rattled off these statistics “17 rapes, 400 assaults and 4 murders.” Maybe I work too much in news and such, but I found that first part particularly Pelosi Face-inducing. In semi-related news, I’m convinced a lot of already-famous rappers are no longer interested in rapping altogether and are completely nonplussed at the prospect of having to do so live.

-Timbaland’s fatal mistake wasn’t coming on stage looking like he’d started Thanksgiving a few weeks early; his error was in going from round to fit to rounder. You just can’t do that. If you’re going to stay round, people will notice your expansion, but won’t think much of it unless you become morbidly rotund. If you get swoll and take pictures in just smediums and clearly want it to be known you’re getting it in physically, you have to stay somewhere in that range. You cannot come out looking like you just ate Rick Ross with a side of Jazze Pha. For good or ill, those are the rules.

-I don’t pretend to really, really know what happened between Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz, but I’m disinclined to think it was on the level and feel funny whenever I hear her singing love and relationship songs. On a semi-related note, has any woman gotten to skate more on something as egregious? I’m thinking her only competition of famous famous people is Angelina Jolie and even she didn’t break up a home with a kid in play. Lots of women have tried to tread this ground before and ended up like the first dude who tried to find the grail in The Last Crusade.

In a recent interview with rollingout.com, Rick Ross’ group Triple C’s, also known as Carol City Cartel, called out KRS-One and whether or not Hip Hop is dead.

Torch, one third of the Florida based group stated “You notice it’s the people that always say ‘Hip Hop is dead,’ that ain’t got no [money].”

“To top it all off, it’s like, Hip Hop is dead but when they had their run, the same people that say these things, they be in pictures with AK’s, they forget all that now. While Torch was explaining this during the interview, Gunplay interrupted, calling out KRS-One’s most esteemed album. “Criminal Minded,” he laughed while sarcastically coughing.

“You gotta understand what’s going on. So at the end of the day, I ain’t with the finger pointing and the other four pointing back at you, but at the end of the day, music is music. You stay in your genre of music,” Torch continued.

Earlier this year, KRS-One targeted Triple C’s label for the destruction of Hip Hop music. “Def Jam is the dopest label in Hip Hop, in the culture of Hip Hop,” he explained in an interview with XXL. “There really would be no Hip Hop as we know it today if it wasn’t for Def Jam. But you don’t get that respect without also being the label that single-handedly destroyed Hip Hop… Every time you think of what’s wrong with Hip Hop, the lyrics, the commercialized music, one artist being played on the radio all day, things like that, that’s all Def Jam,” he asserted.

Triple C’s released their first studio album, titled Custom Cars & Cycles earlier this year on Maybach Music Group/Def Jam. The fifteen track album features appearance by Gucci Mane, Bun B, Game, Birdman and more. Custom Cars & Cycles sold 12,100 units in the opening week
