After being poorly (I feel a lot better more of the time now) I have had the urge to clean the house meticulously and start creating decorations and presents for Christmas. I am rather excited about Christmas this year; I am never really over-the-top excited about it, but this Christmas will be the first in our new house! I put the tree up last night… a lot of people have said that it is far too early, but my family is coming to celebrate Christmas a week early, so why cant I put the tree up a week early!? It is just inspiration standing in the corner now, I cant wait to start putting presents under it.

Yesterday Ryan came home with a new frying pan, which was on sale in Debenhams:

So this led me on to looking at all the kitchenware that Debenhams sell… There are quite a few things that I love, which I am sure you can get elsewhere too, just they are all bundled together in one shop! Here are my selections:

1. Dark grey Roast ‘n Rack by Maxim – I love making roast dinners so much, but I still dont really have the roasting trays for all the ingredients.

2. Cream plate with glass dome lid – I just love the aesthetic of having this in the kitchen with cakes under it!

3. Teal rectangular stoneware dish by Le Creuset – maybe for pasta bakes

4. Cream stove kettle by Prestige – I adore the lines and the shapes that make up these retro-style kettles. I even love the fact you have to put it on the stove, so amazing! There are some of the same/similar style that are electric, but its not really the same thing is it. We also need an upgrade from the £6 kettle I bought a few years ago from Woolworths haha!

5. Azure cast iron casserole dish By Le Creuset – for casseroles of course. Winter is drawing in and I am always a sucker for homemade comfort food. For some reason all the Le Creuset items I have picked here bar one are in blue; I actually like all and any of the colours in the range that they make.

6. Ken Hom 5 piece Wok set by Tao – because I dont have a wok, and I really feel like trying to make stir fry and chinese style chicken.

7. Teal cast iron 26cm square grillit by Le Creuset – because it would make amazing steaks, and you can pour out the juices from the pan afterwards… mmmmm!

8. Spring form cake pan by Kitchen Craft – because I have none!

9. Volcanic regular cast iron grill by Le Creuset – I believe you can either put this in the oven, or as a hot plate on the stove… I love that idea.

10. 5 piece stainless steel set by Prestige – because all of my pans are leaving black flakes in my pasta yuk! Not necessarily this set, but something similar that wont ruin my food.

11. Blue Icona 4 slice toaster by De Longhi – so yummy looking! And blue again… why!?? We need an upgrade from the £5 toaster from Woolworths I bought 3 years ago…

12. 14cm microwave saucepan – when I saw this I thought of Ryan. He always eats beans, and always cooks them in Tupperware pots without handles or spouts, and it looks like a very awkward process to try not to burn your fingers, so this could be ideal!

13. Assam teapot by Bodum – I am never any good at judging how long to leave teabags to steep in the water before pouring, and it either comes out too weak or too strong. So… if I can see what is going on inside the pot I will be ok! It also has a plunger to stop the process when it is right for you, and you can use teabags or leaves and it works!

14. Cream food mixer by KitchenAid – how gorgeous is this machine! We have one in the kitchen at the bar that I work at, I might see if they will sell it to me as it is not really in use.

I am also in the process of designing some quilted Christmas stockings for myself and Ryan, to hang on the wall (where the mantel should be if the house still had one), some knitted presents for my grandparents, maybe some other presents too, and some decorations for the house! I am thinking garlands, and wreaths, and paper chains of course.

Ryan is dying my hair for me tonight, so if I think I look semi-unpoorly afterwards I shall take a photo and paste it to the end of this blog.

Pentru mine Freddie reprezintă o adevărată sursă de inspiraţie, ziceţi-i idol dacă vreţi. Încă de când eram mică îmi povestea tata de trupele pe care le asculta(iar eu ca orice copilă mică şi prostă nu-l prea băgam în seamă). Chiar şi aşa, Queen şi Freddie mi-au plăcut întotdeauna. Mi se lumina faţa pur şi simplu când îi vedeam la tv(ceea ce nu era prea des). Pentru mine Freddie este ceea este Michael Jackson pentru Andrada, o prietenă. Iar cei care o cunosc pe Andrada, ştiu cât de important e MJ pentru ea.

Iţi mulţumesc Freddie pentru că ai existat şi pentru faptul că ai lăsat multe în urma ta. Şi nu doar muzică, întreaga ta personalitate. Pentru mine vei fi ca un înger păzitor, pentru că de multe ori când mă gandesc la tine îmi revine curajul. Ai fost un curajos! În seara asta o să-ţi aprind o lumânare… Şi vreau să ştii că vei fi permanent în gândul meu. Îţi mulţumesc încă o dată!

Casey was the screamer/guitarrist in the band Hawthorne Heights
and they’ve always meant a lot to me.

I’ve been more and more interested in those kind of bands.

Today is also 12 and a half years since Peter Rangmar passed away.
Peter was a swedish actor/singer/funnyman.
He was a part of the barbershopquartet After Shave,
who then joined forces with the comedy sketch group Galenskaparna
and became Galenskaparna & After Shave.
I’ve grown up watching their movies, tv-shows, revues etc. etc.
and a lot of Peter’s character has been some of my favorites.

O disco é uma lição de piano e é difícil destacar uma faixa já que o disco é brilhante. Particularmente gosto da primeira faixa “Journey/Hollis Stomp/Milan to Lyon” que combina os estilos mais antigos do jazz no piano e é dividida em três momentos. “Pete and Thomas (Tribute to the Ticklers) lembra em alguns momentos o piano de Fats Waller e é outra ótima faixa. E o bom e velho blues, presente na faixa “Blues for Smoke”.

Apesar de não ser considerado um dos titãs no piano, acho que Byard ao lado de Bobby Timmons e Sonny Clark são pianistas geniais por sua ousadia e criatividade e não somente pela destreza no instrumento. Tenho certeza que este disco comprova isso.

Elisabeth Soderstrom, the Swedish soprano, had died at the age of 82. I never had the pleasure of experiencing her in the flesh, but the beauty of her voice and the many performances preserved for posterity will always remind us of the loss.

Elisabeth Soderstrom was one of those voices that sounded beautiful in almost anything. She did roles from Adina to Leonore, from Sophie to the Marschallin and to all of them she brought impeccable musicianship and intelligence. Her recordings of Janacek operas are still unsurpassed and her Mozart still a model of refinement. Let’s hope the new generation of sopranos will follow her example (and listen to her recordings) and bring to their careers the same sense of dedication and respect that she brought; as well as the fantastic attention to the text that she always brought to any language she sang.

To her family and her many fans around the world, my deepest condolences.

So Friday night there was a shooting back home. 15-year-old got hit in the head and nobody knows why or who did it. Now that I’ve gotten word back from the streets I know who’s crib it was and I could probably take a wild guess who they’re pointing the finger at. Honestly, nothing justifies a kid getting shot IDC who did it. What irks me is that the police are more caught up in pointing fingers at what gang did it instead of realizing this is becoming more frequent issue in Brentwood. There were I think three shootings back in late August when I first left for school. And before then the summer had a few shootings going on. See a pattern guys? It’s apparent younger kids are trying to come up because back in the day shootings weren’t this frequent – stabbings yeah, jumping sure – not guns. Where are these kids getting guns? Where are they getting the money? and why isn’t anybody doing ANYTHING about this?

SCPD is way too busy in making Brentwood look bad as a whole than helping my neighborhood and trying to make it safe.

It pisses me off. Christopher Hamilton, may you rest in peace ninito. and hopefully one day the neighborhood can come together instead of just pointing fingers.

I really doubt we’re finding out who did this. How about we focus on the big  picture. So I checked and found out it’s one of the blogs among the many feeds that I have been mindlessly flicking through. Yet, there is a certain sense of sadness and helplessness as if I knew her as a friend.

How funny that we voyeur through so many personal diaries simply for our own pleasure, never thinking of it as anything more than an entertainment channel. Where online journaling could potentially draw people together for strength and support but we just keep taking and taking. Why can’t we give back. I’m just angry at myself for that.

I realise that, the world is not just smaller. It has become more personal. And we should really do something about it.

You may or may not have heard the news. theproGnosis is coming to an end. Sad on the one hand, necessary on the other.

As a result I’ve been taking stock of the content around here on saintbeagle. A few of the tabs from the top you’ll notice have been removed. Book’s I’ve Read has gone because quite frankly, my opinion on books is worth very little. I’m almost illiterate after all (you may have gathered this by reading what I’ve written). I’ll still review books from time to time, but there wont be an ‘archive’ of those reviews.

Secondly I’ve taken down my ‘Set lists’ tab. It was intended to be a place I could record the songs I’d led in church to help me keep track and plan effectively for future services. I’ve not used this for ages because we now have a very similar facility for our church.

I’ve added two tabs to replaced them though, namely ‘eBooks I’ve Edited‘ and ‘Interviews I’ve Conducted.’

The eBooks page is something I was doing over on theproGnosis.org and so I’ve decided to preserve that here. Likewise the interviews was something I was heavily involved in and didn’t want lost.

So there you have it. A few changes. A bit of a spring clean. Hopefully this will mean a little more blogging here at saintbeagle…who knows?
