After hearing on Twitter about the fantastic program, ript I just knew that I had to try it out with some of my classes. Enter Year 6! After introducing them to the wonders of the song ‘12 Days of Christmas’  I let them loose to search for images  and come up with a cover design for a Christmas card. As ript saves as a jpg this would be an easy task to import into publisher.

The children loved the activity and enjoyed dragging clipart onto the ript ‘pile’. Oh….and all this was done in the space of 30 minutes as we had a Carol concert rehearsal to contend with as well!

This is just going to be a really quick post on the website RIPT apparel graphic t-shirts. It means like Rest In Peace T-shirts because they have a new t-shirt featured every day, and after that one day, it’s gone FOREVER! There’s only one shirt everyday. There’s also a “graveyard” of shirts that were for sale on an earlier date.

They’re always only 10 bucks (plus 2.50 for ground shipping) and the graphics on the front are made by a different aspiring artist everyday, which I think is really cool.

Ript is new freeware from the Oxygen Media people which allows users to collect images, text, anything from web pages and local computer and place them in scrapbook type pages simply via drag and drop. This from the site:

“Part scrapbook, part “to-do” list (or to-buy list), Ript mimics the actions of ripping, piling and arranging scraps of information. If you can see it on your computer, you can “rip” it. Simply drag and drop images and text from the internet or your computer and arrange them however you please — making it easy to compile, print and share your handiwork.”

‘Scraps’ can be resized, rotated and even flipped over so you can make notes on the back. Any text can be edited and each item’s right click menu includes options to print, email, save as, paste and delete.

I cannot locate a list of supported browsers on the product page but comments from users suggest Ript works well with both IE and Firefox but images may be problematical using Chrome.

Das Shirt des Tages von RIPT wie immer für 10 US-Dollar und nur heute zu haben ! Weird Ficiton…

I had a fairly ok week albeit my grumpy episodes.  Maybe it was because it was the anticipation of the long weekend that made everything better.  So let me give you some highlights:

• Bayan’s Teach Lola Media Launch has a successful turn out which made me very happy.  I also found a way to knock some style to my Teach Lola shirt—all thanks to Lookbook.nu

• Had dinner with Annabs and Evan at Fusion, Greenbelt 3 where we discussed why we don’t have boyfriends.  We figured it was because we did not prioritize it so much.  Haha.  It was also a night of goal setting where I declared that by the end of September, I should be taking driving lessons already.  Annabs said she should already be processing her Master’s requirements.  Evan promised that he’d stop being vegetarian. Kidding. Hahaha!  What did you really say you’d do by the end of September, Evan?  I’m having a senile moment.

• I went Quiapo shopping with my mom where I bought luggage locks and pasalubong stuffs (meeting gifts) for my upcoming trip this September.  I also went to DVD Mecca (H. Bautista Street) where I bought copies of Scrubs and Chuck.  I’m sorry I can’t post a picture of the pasalubong because they might read this and ruin my surprise.  So here’s a photo of my DVDs and digital padlock. Hahaha

• I got bored and signed up for Farmville in Facebook.  Now, I’m always worried about my crops and is always rushing to get online and check on them.  Joining Farmville might really be a bad idea.

• I interviewed the 9-year old son of a well-know Filipino celebrity for an upcoming project.  I decided I want to get married and spawn kids like him.  He does magic, wall climbs and has Science and Math for favorite subjects.  Plus he is very good-looking and is such a smart ass.  Kinda like how I imagined my kid would be. Hahaha

• After that interview, I met up with Shale in Trinoma where we decided to have a picinic in UP Sunken Garden.  So we made a quick pit stop to her apartment and got ourselves blankets, chips and chocolates.  Two kids kept bugging us to give them money but I decided to take their pictures to distract them and make them forget that they were actually there to beg for money.  This made Shale very uncomfortable as one kid kept touching her.  She was practically begging me to shoo them away, but being the person that I am, of course I did not shoo them away.  Instead, I talked to them a little and when they remembered that they were really there to ask money, they bugged us again.  So just to stop all of it, I each gave them a piece of my chocolate and asked them if they ever had boyfriends.  Hahahahaha!  Shale commented that I’m actually implanting strange ideas in their heads.  Haha. Anyway, they wouldn’t leave us alone so we decided to call it a day and go home.

• When I got home, I immediately went online and found that my Super Berries in Farmville have all withered.  After I replanted another set, I taught my mom how to write an email.  Here are some photos…

Not a bad week at all.  I am looking forward to another long weekend next week. Yay!

Dunkle Wolken ziehen auf, bei RIPT für 10 EURO !

Now I’m not a big fan of circuses, but I’ll make an exception for this tee because I’m a huge fan of dinosaurs. The end of Ladies Week at RIPT turned out to be an amazing one, with Jewelwing’s “Dino Circus” taking Friday’s slot. This lighthearted design features many dinosaurs having a great time performing all sorts of fancy tricks. This shirt makes me want to join right in, although I think I’d freak out and run away if the opportunity ever arose! Despite the fact that I’m not a fan of wearing natural/creme colored tees, I think that the color scheme that Jewelwing chose is fantastic. Ript is a fun little tool that allows you to rip photos and text from a web page and create scrapbooks, to-do lists, and whatever else you can think of.  You have to download it first (8.7MB)  and then after you launch it you’ll see a little pile of scraps in the corner of your browser.  That’s where you put the items you’re ripping from the web.  All you need to do is click on an item and drag it over to the pile.  You’ll hear a little tearing noise and then you’ll know the item has been Ript.  When you’re all through, you can re-size images, add text, create multiple pages of Ript items, and save or email your project.  Here’s my screencast tour of Ript:
