Best album?  Albums are so totally 90’s, which explains why the overwhelming majority of the CDs I own were purchased more than 10 years ago. These days I roll with the fad of burnt mixes and mp3 player shuffles. Listening to an album cover to cover is a rarity for me. That said, I have spent enough time on the road in the past 6 years to take in a few. These all stand out for different reasons, but they are all indelibly marked on my brain.

5. Rise Against: The Sufferer and the Witness
I know I’m about 10 years older than most of their fans, but this album is moving, energetic and wise beyond the youth of its target audience. I don’t really ever go to concerts, but I have seen these guys live several times and observed the power that they wield (very humbly and responsibly) over their fans. This album kicks ass from the beginning, and ends beautifully.

4. The Advantage: The Advantage
ZOMG it’s Nintendo music played by a rock band!!!!!!?!??! The drummer in this band fucking kicks ass. They play the music from the Dr. Wily stage in Mega Man 2. Nuff said.

3. Orpheum Bell: Pretty As You
I helped produce this album. Aaron Klein is an awesome songwriter, and these guys got me back into old-time.

2. Nomo: Nomo
In the last 6 years of touring, this album has been pumped through the house speakers before almost every show. Add that to the number of spins it has had in the van, at parties, and on my mp3 player, and I have quite possibly heard this album 1,000 times.  It can simultaneously hype me up and mellow me out, putting me in the perfect state to perform. Add that to the nostalgia of every shitty back-country bar, gilded big-time stage, and mile in between that my path has crossed, and I can’t help but love this album.

1. Gillian Welch: Soul Journey
There are maybe 4 albums in existence that I love completely, that I relish every song of and never grow tired of hearing.  This is definitely one of them. “Look at Miss Ohio” and “Wayside” are two of my all-time favorite songs. Shortness is this album’s only shortcoming. It is otherwise perfect.

Hace una semana que fui al concierto de Rise Against con Poison The Well y Thursday como teloneros en la sala La Riviera de Madrid. Como se puede ver, no volví superemocionada (las razones, a continuación) y con ganas de escribir sobre él en todas partes.

Sin embargo, ahora mismo me encuentro muy feliz. Estoy bebiendo un cola-cao calentito mientras escucho Vintage Christmas por una cadena de sucesos que se resume en: esta mañana tenía frío, he ido al parque con Erín y me he puesto mala de la garganta, he vuelto para estudiar el ordenamiento jurídico español y las diferencias entre el derecho de sociedades y el mercantil (no, no pretendo sacarme la licenciatura en Derecho, es que soy así de pringada y me las como dobladas) y finalmente, para desconectar, he mirado una tienda de cosméticos online con una línea extensísima de bálsamos labiales temáticos sobre Navidad. Ese es mi espíritu navideño. En realidad debería parar porque me he quemado la lengua, me empieza a doler la cabeza (sigo malita, parece) y mi perra se ha puesto a aullar mientras Frank Sinatra cantaba White Christmas. Será que la Navidad le produce nostalgia, como a tantos otros, o que es fan de Frank Sinatra y esto, por extensión, también le produce nostalgia.

Cualquier excusa para desviarme del tema. Un aplauso para el nuevo nivel de procrastinación. Ahora ya voy con el concierto.

El sábado fue un día interesante. Llegamos al concierto hora y media antes y había ya una cola seria, nada sorprendente teniendo en cuenta que las entradas se agotaron en dos días, tuvieron que cambiar de sala, y volvieron a agotar las entradas de esta otra en una semana. Tenía muy claro que no me apetecía pegarme con un montón de gente desconocida (hasta que no estuve dentro, a mi mente no se le ocurría quién narices había agotado las entradas) por una primera fila de estas bandas. No os confundáis. Yo empecé a escuchar a Thursday y Rise Against a los 14 años, es decir, hace seis, pero una ya va madurando y como las bandas tardan tanto en venir, cuando vienen, ya se nos ha pasado el arroz a todos, ¿verdad? En algunos momentos me sentía mayor y todo.

En definitiva, la emoción era grande, pero era emoción por completar un episodio de mi pasado, como me pasó la semana anterior a la de este concierto saliendo de fiesta con el señor Justin Sane. Sólo estaba cerrando capítulos y concluyendo historias bonitas sobre las que reflexionar en el futuro. Además, a Poison The Well les estoy empezando a escuchar este año y tenía muchas ganas de verles.

Así que, milagrosamente, como siempre que voy a conciertos, Dios bendiga al Hardcore todopoderoso, su hijo, que vela por mí en todos los conciertos y me coloca una flor en el culo, conseguí un sitio en la primera fila. De hecho, en el mejor sitio de la primera fila: en el lateral izquierdo donde nadie se acercaba porque estaban los gorilas y parecía que no te podías poner ahí. El mejor porque lo ví todo y me comí cero pogo innecesario (me reservo los empujones para las ocasiones).

Resulta que las 5 primeras filas eran chavales que habían entrado con el carnet de su primo y/o era su primer concierto -nunca el mejor caldo de cultivo. Por arriba ví a ciertas caras conocidas de gente que en realidad no escucha nada de este tipo de música excepto a Rise Against y fueron a ver qué se cocía. Tampoco una buena señal, pero como estaban lejos, no me importaba su presencia. Eso sí, me pregunto en qué momento Rise Against caló en lo hondo en este país hasta el punto de que gente que escucha bacalao hasta en el desayuno me cuente que les gusta. Lanzo la pregunta al aire, que alguien me responda si lo sabe.

Respecto a las bandas, Poison The Well lo partieron. Pero no está la miel hecha para la boca del asno. El público era receptivo porque en Madrid el público siempre lo es y además el cantante empezó a hablar en un español cubano más que aceptable, por lo que la gente se animó bastante aunque la música de Poison The Well y Rise Against (por no hablar de Thursday, pero vamos a dejarlos, que no eran la banda principal) se parecen lo que un huevo a una castaña. Sin embargo, después de ocho canciones la cosa empezó a decaer y la despedida fue un poco fría. Lástima, me caen bien Poison.

Vale, Thursday. En el descanso entre la primera banda y la segunda, mi expectación fue en aumento hasta darme cuenta de que la banda que tenía más ganas de ver era Thursday. Es lógico, a Thursday y Rise Against les empecé a escuchar a la vez pero, si bien Rise Against se quedó un poco más por el camino, a Thursday los retomé hace dos años y fueron mi banda sonora durante un año entero. Además son de Nueva Jersey, mi estado favorito de EE.UU (esto es un secreto que jamás confesaré a ningún americano a menos que sea de NJ), y sus letras me han llegado siempre. Me encanta como siempre han pasado de todo el lío masivo de la industria pudiéndolo tener al alacance de la mano y lo locales que son. Otra vez, NJ.

Pero, ¿qué pasó? Que de tan locales que son, quisieron hacer un set menos “casero” y la jodieron. Tocaron bastantes canciones del nuevo disco y se dejaron las antiguas para otra ocasión. Era la primera vez que venían en España y casi se me sale el corazón por la boca cuando Geoff dijo “Como habéis esperado tanto tiempo a que viniéramos, vamos a tocar algo antiguo. Esto es Paris In Flames“. Esa canción me gusta pero yo creía que iba a ser su mítica War All The Time, mi favorita, y que “algo” iba a ser más de una canción. Mi gozo en un puto pozo. Acabaron y me quedé un poco desilusionada.

Y, por fin, Rise Against. La verdad es que se lucieron muchísimo. Hicieron uno de los sets más largos que he visto en mucho tiempo. Eso me pareció en el momento y luego en casa, con tranquilidad, repasando las canciones que tocaron, lo confirmo. Hubo de todo: canciones del nuevo disco, los temazos del penúltimo (Ready To Fall, Prayer of the Refugee), casi todo el disco de Siren Song of the Counter Culture (MUY recomendable), un paréntesis después de tres cuartos de actuación con tres canciones acústicas (para los que estaban haciendo pogo, esto fue una putada excesivamente larga) y temas muuuuy antiguos como Black Masks and Gasoline, donde salió a cantar Gorka de Berri Txarrak, que es amigo de Tim (cantante de RA), para sorpresa de todo el mundo.

La atmósfera era perfecta. Todo el mundo cantaba absolutamente todas las letras de las canciones hasta el punto de que Tim se sorprendió muchísimo y se distraía en las primeras canciones mirando a la gente (sí, fui blanco de miradas por ser una chica en primera fila con un pelo y unos labios muy llamativos; la gama cromática y sus efectos, amigos míos) y paraba de cantar en frases, no poniendo el micro para cantar, no, sino para hacer la prueba de cómo se oía, y no se notaba la diferencia. ¡Hasta nos pusieron unos micros en el escenario apuntando al público! En la tercera canción nos confesó su asombro. Más tarde felicitamos a Joe (bajista) porque era su cumple, y después de una gran actuación y muchas declaraciones de amor hacia el público español (seguidas de las falsas promesas de “Volveremos muy pronto, sois la mejor audiencia de la Historia”), se acabó el concierto.

Y aquí empieza mi frustración in extremis construida sobre el golpe de Thursday. Salimos de la sala y esperamos a que saliera toda la gente y en la puerta de al lado, por donde salían las bandas, a ver si podíamos saludarles.

Problema número uno: alguien dentro de la sala llamó al Telepizza. Nunca una buena señal.
Problema número dos: la puerta estaba atestada de los muchachos de la primera fila-centro que se habían colado con carnés falsos y estaban hiperextasiados por ser su primer concierto y estar ante la expectativa de conocer a sus ídolos. Esta gente me irrita porque es emocionalmente inestable y mi nivel de nervios aumenta sin motivo. Además, obstruían la salida y no podía ver.
Problema número tres: la sala era discoteca después, por lo que los de la sala intentaban echarnos de la calle y nos decían que no podíamos hacer botellón en la puerta. Todo esto fue respondido por un grupo de unas 10 personas que estábamos sentados a 200 metros de la puerta bebiendo botellas de agua para hidratarnos después del concierto con un “¿Pero esto no es la calle?”.

Al final, salieron Poiston The Well y supusieron que nadie quería saludarles, por lo que nos hicieron el vacío. Todo el mundo sabe que yo no corro detrás de nadie, y no iba a ser esta una excepción. Salieron Thursday y lo mismo. Tampoco iba a ser una excepción después del sabor amargo que me habían dejado. Además, ¿qué es eso de esconderse de la gente? Luego empezó a salir Rise Against. Zach (guitarrista) nos juró que iba al tour bus y volvía. Mintió. Menos 400 puntos para ti, que encima eres calvo y suplente, así que no lo tenías fácil de entrada y ahora vas y te cavas tu tumba. Luego salió Joe, pasó de todos, le dije adiós, sonrió y decidió seguir andando. Un pin para ti también. Luego salió el de Berri Txarrak y sus amigos empezaron a petar la salida (problema número 4), y por fin salió Tim. Como era de esperar, la multitud de adolescentes inestables se agolpó contra él y empezó a gritar palabras inconexas y sin sentido en inglés (“Cool”, “Rise Against”, “Hey, hey”, etc). Cabe destacar que nadie sabía su nombre ni sabía pedir una foto en inglés. Mientras intentaba esquivar a los amigos de Berri Txarrak y me hacía hueco entre los adolescentes, me dí de cara con Tim, me sonrió y mi momento quedó interrumpido por “Haznos una foto”. La hice y cuando por derecho no escrito era mi turno, el guardaespaldas dijo “Nos tenemos que ir” y empujó al pequeño Tim hacia una furgoneta.

Aplauso infinito para mi cara de estúpida. Me cabreé poco no, lo siguiente. Con Thursday por tocar Dios sabe qué, con la turba hormonada inestable, con la puta cámara que me dieron que tardaba en echar la foto, con las entradas agotadas y las filtraciones en la música, con el guardaespaldas, con las bandas que necesitan guardaespaldas, con las bandas que pasan de sus fans y con los 400 canis y gitanos que estaban petando la calle para entrar en La Riviera.

Pasé delante de los tour buses, donde estaba Thursday haciendo botellón en la puerta, pasé de ellos como ellos habían hecho con nosotros, ante sus sosprendidas caras y me fui de allí.

Por eso, amigos míos, adoro las salas de un aforo no superior a 400 personas, las bandas que no se olvidan de que sólo son una banda y la gente que va a conciertos con regularidad. Lección aprendida. Capítulo cerrado.

Honestly I was not going to write this one. In fact I had a totally different subject in my mind, influenced by something that happened to me today. Yet as I was browsing YouTube, listening to songs I came across a music video of a song by Rise Against (for more information: http://www.riseagainst.com/) called Hero of War (video on top of the entry). It is a song about war, about what people call “heroes”. It is ironic in the way it says “A hero of war.. That’s what I’ll be..”. It mocks the “heroism” of war. Because there is no “heroism” in war – especially in expansionary war. This song shows what happens in war. And what people believe they will be when they go there. Maybe in defensive war you can say there is some “heroism”. Maybe..

Because war brings out the most feline instincts of man. There is no heroism in killing innocent people. People who fight against you, because you barged into their country, their cities, their homes. Because you bombarded their cities. Because you torture them without having any reason at all to do so and you act like heartless beasts. And still, not even these people, the ones who fight to defend their country, are justified if they act the same way you do.

But I have not started this entry just to say this. I brought this up for a simple reason: When I took a look at the comments of the video, I must admit I was surprised. Not only surprised – I was astounded, enraged and mostly, disappointed. I mean how can somebody believe all these things I read on the comments section? How can somebody believe that this song wants to praise the soldiers..? Listen to its ending: “And the cells jumped through the smoke and into the sand that blood now had soaked.. She collapsed with a flag in her hand – a flag white as snow..” This specific part is about a soldier who killed an innocent woman who desired to surrender (white flag). Is this praising? Or is it the truth?

And then those comments of the type:

Politics fight for oil. We fight for peace!

Please.. That’s the way you fight for peace? By waging meaningless wars? By tormenting humans? If you want peace fight for peace indeed. But not by causing wars. War brings only war and hatred. And that is quite far away from the peace you allegedly fight for, isn’t it? We are all blind. Blinded by ideals that do not exist at all. Iconic ideals for a better world. Implanted into our minds by their patrons. By those patrons who in reality they advocate something so different and so cruel that they could never dare to say it out loud. We fall for their lies. Lies for peace and prosperity. They take advantage of our weaknesses.

They brainwash us claiming that Middle East is dangerous because there are weapons of mass destruction there. And who says that? US, a country which is one of the countries with the most weapons of mass destruction, if not the one with the most. They say that Middle East harbours terrorists. But why haven’t they proved it yet? Moreover, terrorists exist because they want to protest, in a wrong way indeed, for their wrong-doings. If we really desire terrorism to stop, then the best solution would be to stop wars.

Anyway non of those comments enraged me as much as this:

We aren’t attacking a fucking country for their beliefs you ignorant ass! We’re trying to stabilize a government that is being controlled by the Taliban! We liberated a country that was ran by a dictator! Yes, there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, we had the proof, we just didn’t take the proper steps fast enough and the weapons were removed and transported else where! Iran to be exact!

How foolish.. To claim that you freed a country from its dictator. When what you did was bombarding its cities, killing its citizens, ravaging its wealth, ruining their prosperity. Oh you should be so proud of yourselves. So proud because you left a country in dust and breakage. And about the weapons of mass destruction, the UN ran an inspection with the, although reluctant, co-operation of Iraq to find that no weapons of mass destruction were there. Truth be told, the UN’s weapon inspector could not completely verify the accuracy of Iraq’s weapon declarations. But a new inspection after the invasion, showed that no weapon of mass-destruction had been constructed in the country since 1991. Still that’s not what I want to say in this post.

What I want to point out is “heroism” of war. How can we consider this heroism? Is heroism killing and torturing? It could be. It surely needs strong guts to do that. But last time I checked, killers are psychopaths – not heroes. I know what most of you would say to me: that these people fight for the protection of their families and that’s what makes them heroes. I must agree with you. This can make you a hero. But did the US soldiers fight for the protection of their families? No. Because there was no proven danger. They fought to protect them from an iconic danger. From a mythical enemy.

And even if there was danger, didn’t they cause that danger? With their ways of autocracy and arrogance?

Realise that hatred leads nowhere. You fight in the name of your flag. But isn’t it just a piece of cloth? Instead of fighting wars in order to feed their lust for power and money, why don’t you try to fight for unity, justice and equality? No one can ever be a “Hero of War“. There are no “Heroes of War“. But you can be a Hero of Life. You just prefer the hollow solution. The non-solution if I may say..

Se han hecho de rogar pero tras cuatro años, por fin, “Berri Txarrak” ha sacado su nuevo álbum “Payola”. Tras una macrogira para presentar su disco “Jaio.Musika.Hil”, que les ha llevado por escenarios de todo el mundo como Estados Unidos, Japón, Nicaragua, México y Europa, compartiendo escenario con “Rise Against”, y la salida de la banda de Mikel Lopez “Rubio” por motivos personales, el nuevo trío formado por Gorka Urbizu, Aitor Goikoetxea y David González (nuevo bajista de muchísima calidad como músico y como persona) ha sacado a la luz un álbum lleno de buenas canciones.

La banda del norte ha progresado muchísimo en su calidad musical y en este “Payola” se pueden escuchar temas con mucha fuerza. El álbum ha sido grabado en Estados Unidos, de la mano de Steve Albini (productor de “Nirvana”, “Pixies” o “Neurosis”), y lo han hecho a la antigua usanza, grabando todos a la vez y luego remasterizando, en vez de ir grabando cada instrumento por separado.

“Berri Txarrak” tuvo la colaboración de Tim Mcllrath, cantante de “Rise Against”, que hace unos coros en euskera en un par de temas. Los temas de este nuevo álbum son más melódicos que los anteriores pero sin perder un ápice de su fuerza natural. Sus ritmos se caracterizan por un sonido rock/metal alternativo con toques de stoner y hardcore melódico.

Un muy buen disco de unos chicos que evolucionan a la perfección dentro de un mundo muy difícil como es la industria musical. Personalmente, les he visto en directo hace ya bastante tiempo y me parecieron muy buenos. Ahora, con este nuevo álbum se han superado. Espero verles de nuevo muy pronto.

Um hier mal wieder ein wenig mehr Leben ´reinzubringen, habe ich mich dazu entschieden, von Zeit zu Zeit eine meiner Lieblingsbands vorzustellen. Zu finden sein wird immer eine kurze Version der Bandgeschichte, Youtube-Links zu bekannten oder empfehlenswerten Liedern und eventuell aktuelle Tourdaten oder sonstige Interessante Sachen.

Anfangen möchte ich mir der US-Amerikanischen Rock/Punkrock-Bank

Rise Against

Die Band wurde 1999 in Chicago, Illinois von von Tim McIlrath (Gitarre & Gesand) , Brandon Barnes (Drums) , Joe Principe (Bass) und Dan Wlekinski (Gitarre) gegründet. Von den 4 Gründungsmitgliedern ist nur der Gitarrist Dan Wlekinski nicht mehr dabei, da er 2001 die Band verlies. Seit dem wurde der Posten des Gitarristen von mehreren Musikern besetzt, bis 2007 schließlich Zach Blair (Lead-Gitarre & Background-Gesang) zur Band stieß und bis heute dabei ist.

Wie viele amerikanische Punkrock-Bands ist auch Rise Against für ihr politisches Engagement bekannt, wie zum Beispiel der Protest gegen den Irak- und Afghanistankrieg. Besonders aber Tierrechte bzw. Tierschutz liegen der Band am Herzen. So ist es nicht verwunderlich, dass zwei Bandmitglieder Vegetarier sind, die anderen Zwei sogar Veganer. Alle zusammen unterstützen sie die Organisation PETA.

Das Hörenswerte an der Musik von Rise Against ist die Mischung aus melodischen Riffs und harmonischem Gesang im Wechsel mit teils recht harten Punk-Riffs. Viele finden die Musik von Rise Against “zu hart” und sie hätten auch recht, wenn man sich nur bestimmte Lieder anhört, in denen sehr kräftige Gitarrenriffs gepaart mit viel Geschrei vorkommen. Jedoch gibt es auch Songs, die auch allgemeinverträglich gestaltet sind, und mit Hero of War und Swing Life away haben die Vier Musiker auch zwei richtig schöne Balladen mit Akkustikgitarren im Repertoire.

Besonders zu erwähnen erscheinen mir die größtenteils sehr schönen Songtexte, die in Ausschnitten oft gut in eigene Lebenssituationen oder Erfahrungen passen.

In today’s KROQ Music News: Rise Against on song writing, Three Days Grace’s search for high school football highlight reels and a KROQ Locals Only MMA DVD contest.

Rise Against are practically family at KROQ, having graced us with their electric performances at ACX on several occasions.

My favorite memory with  Rise Against is interviewing them in a laundry room backstage in 2005. There was too much of  a celebration going down in their dressing room and so they put us in what was essentially a utility closet fully equipped with washers and dryers.

Ich seh schon, ich habe hier in letzter Zeit eher getwittert als gebloggt, also bin ich euch mal wieder ein paar Zeilen mehr schuldig:

ich war am 02.11. in Erfurt auf den Jupiter Jones Konzert. Die Location (Engelsburg) war an sich sehr schön, nur die Säule mitten auf der Bühne hat gestört, weil man nie die ganze Band sehen konnte. Das Konzert an sich war echt super. Die Vorband Cancer war gut gewählt. Musikalisch müssen sie vielleicht noch etwas üben, aber sie hatten definitiv Spaß an der Sache und haben gut Stimmung gemacht. Und Jupter Jones -  wahnsinn. Mehr gibts dazu nicht zu sagen.

Danach mussten Ralf, Ulli und ich nur noch auf den Zug warten – der erst so gegen 4.30 uhr fuhr. Jippie. Das war ne echt lange nacht und so gegen 7 Uhr waren wir dann auch endlich wieder in Schmalkalden. Aber für das Konzert hatte es sich echt gelohnt.

Den Tag drauf ist mein Kater gestorben. Grausamer Tag Seither bin ich schon ganz schön geknickt.

Wenigstens ging’s das Wochenende drauf zum Rise Against Konzert – mal wieder nach Erfurt (aber diesmal wenigstens mit dem Auto ). Das Konzert war gar nicht so schlecht – aber Rise Against habe ich das Jahr zu oft gesehen um mich davon noch richtig begeistern zu lassen

Das ist jetzt ziemlich genau eine Woche.

Letzten Montag waren Michi, Martin, Isa und ich bei unserer ersten Salsastunde. Wir hatten Spaß. War echt lustig und wir waren froh uns doch dafür entschieden zu haben.

Mittwoch war Fasching. Es war ganz nett – ich habe zwar schon bessere Partys in Schmalkalden erlebt, aber … es war nett

Donnerstag und Freitag hab ich ganz schön die Schultern hängen lassen. Dass mein Dicker tot ist, hat mich nochmal ganz schön mitgenommen.
Heute gehts noch – na mal sehen, ist ja auch erst Mittags.

So – jetzt muss ich mich entscheiden, was ich heute noch mit meinem Tag anfange. Also Lernen wäre nötig und Putzen wäre nötig … So wie ich mich kenne, zock ich aber eher eine Runde

Dieses Video muss ich hier einfach zeigen. Der Song heißt “Hero of War”, ein akustischer Anti-Kriegssong.
Es gab keinen im Saal, der nicht mitgesungen hatte. Das war echtes Gänsehaut-Feeling.

Ich kann noch die blauen Flecken vom letzten Mal zählen.
Der Bass wummert mir noch immer in den Ohren.

Das letzte Konzert, das ich besucht habe, liegt noch nicht lange zurück und schon heute Abend ist es wieder soweit: Rise Against
treten auf die Bühne.

Wie ich Konzerte liebe. Vom kleinen Clubkonzert bis zur großen Hallenshow. Dabei geht es weniger um die Musik, sondern um die Stimmung.
Zig Menschen mit dem gleichen Musikgeschmack treffen aufeinander, feiern sich selbst, das Leben und die Musiker auf der Bühne.

Nach dem Konzert ist man gebadet von Schweiß, seinem eigenen und dem Fremder, die Muskeln sind warm vom Rumgespringe, die Knochen schmerzen – man fühlt sich (wenn mans richtig gemacht hat…) wie von einem Lastwagen überrollt, aber man ist glücklich.

Ja, ich freue mich.

This song was written as a protest against the war in Iraq. Personally I’m not a huge fan of SOAD but thi is probably the one track that i do really like.

Era mucha la expectación que la llegada de Rise Against había generado entre los aficionados al punk rock en España.

La última vez que visitaron nuestro país fue en el 2003 junto a Mad Caddies, antes de sacar discos como “Siren Song of the Counter Culture” o “The Sufferer and the Witness” y, por supuesto, su recién estrenado “Appel to Reason”, el cual venían a promocionar. Es por esto que había tantas ganas entre el público español de ver a una banda que se ha convertido en referencia en el género y ha conseguido ir aumentando vertiginosamente su número de seguidores hasta llegar a las 26 millones de visitas que tienen actualmente en su Myspace.

Repartieron su estancia entre Barcelona y Madrid y en ninguno de los dos escenarios defraudaron a nadie, incluyendo en su repertorio mezcla de canciones antiguas y nuevas, pero sobre todo, plasmando la fuerza que les caracteriza. Bastante significativo sobre el interés que generaron cuando anunciaron la inclusión de España en su gira europea es el hecho de que en Mayo se agotaran las entradas para el concierto en Madrid, programado para el 14 de Noviembre. Un día antes visitaban Barcelona y hasta allí nos fuimos para tener incluso la oportunidad de mantener una breve conversación con el cantante y guitarrista Tim McIlrath, en la que nos transmitió la preocupación por cuestiones sociales y medioambientales que recogen sus letras así como la convicción del “saludable” estilo de vida que les caracteriza alejados del alcohol y las drogas y con un fuerte compromiso con la sostenibilidad y el respeto a los animales.

Sin duda un buen ejemplo para todos aquellos jóvenes aficionados a este estilo musical y un contrapunto para todos aquellos prejuicios que rodean al punk rock.
Es gratificante encontrar tantas características positivas en las cotas más altas de calidad musical dentro del género. En definitiva, un buen sabor de boca a la espera de su próxima visita.
