Lament of a Forgotten Sun

I could barely hear the deep grumble of my engine over the radio. It must’ve been four in the morning; who the hell was up at four in the morning. The bursting countryside rolled along in time with the beaten, rusted road in front of me; a gentle fog settled across the yawning fields.

I ran into a long, desolate dirt road; it was like how every good horror movie started out. It led me to the top of a hill, just overlooking the city. I parked beneath a slumping oak and slipped out of the driver’s seat to sit on the hood of my rattling heap. Billie Holiday’s sweet, bleeding voice babbled with the chattering trumpet and hummed right along with the low moan of the saxophone; it was something to savor.

It was the first time I had waited around for the sunrise, for the sake of the sunrise, in longer than I’d like to remember. We tend to forget about it, and all those other little things that make up the day; we’ve become too busy. We’ve become too busy makin’ deals, makin’ money; we’re too busy makin’ up things to squabble over, things that send the warm stench of death right up our porch steps. We’ve become too busy to remember.

As the sun peaked around the corner, I felt like an old woman waking up to her man, opening my eyes just early enough to grab his hand and hold on. I watched the sun creep up the sides of the rousing city; she sure was breathin’, that city of mine. Even at her drowsiest hour, there’s just that tiny rustle, that tiny hint of restlessness; like there’s something that’s started, and you ain’t even gotten there yet.

I guess that some people are up at four in the morning because they are looking for something; they drive and drive, until something else comes up to do. Some are just startin’ another day, and some are just endin’ one. Then there are folks who just need some time; time to rework things, rethink things, replay things, things that they have an awful hard time doin’ any other time of the night. And some souls are just leavin’, ‘cause they can’t seem to find another reason to stay. Then there are those who haven’t the slightest idea.

A flock of birds moved in perfect rhythm to the waver of Holiday’s voice, delicately flitting over the field in front of me, clearing away the fog.

I guess that some people, up at four in the morning, are just lookin’ for the sun to rise. If there was anything to believe in it was this, and all the other little things we’ve let go by, all the little things that make this life worth livin’.

So, we’ll forget all about it, all the time that elapsed between those risin’ suns; we’ll just start from here, it seems like a good place.

There has been a lot of news flying around about the recent Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen

There has been a lot of news flying around about the recent Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen (COP15). If you haven’t heard about it, you’ve probably been living under a rock for the last few months. But just in case you’ve forgotten, let me sum it up for you. There were meetings in Copenhagen where leaders and delegates from countries all over the world, big and small, got together to discuss climate change. The meetings, which have now ended, turned out to be a large disappointment. Citizens of the world hoped and expected for proper action to be put into progress, but instead, many countries just let things go and made the deal that basically stated “we’ll do something sooner or later… sort of.”
People across the globe are outraged. The media has taken to this like a match takes to a forest. And unfortunately, people have started to point fingers. It was America’s fault! It was China’s fault!
Now, I’m not going to pretend I know everything. Before I start into my opinion on the matter, I’ll let you know right now that I’m not a scientist. I’m not a global leader. I’m just a teenager who would like her future grandchildren to be able to see the beautiful Earth like it used to be. Lush and full of wonder. So, what follows is not the opinion of someone who knows everything about this (although I do know a fair amount), but the opinion of someone who cares about what’s going on.
I’d like to know whose fault it is too. I mean, don’t get me wrong, maybe it IS America’s fault, or China’s fault, or whoever’s fault. But does it really matter? What really matters is that the conference failed, and now, we have to make the changes ourselves, as we should have been doing a long time ago, as well as convince the leaders of the planet to rethink their choices on the matter.
Instead of pointing fingers, we should be telling them, everyone, what we think of the matter. We need to convince the leaders to get the dollar signs or euro signs or whatever currency they have signs out of their eyes and focus on what’s actually happening. Maybe you’ll save a million euros by not acting on Climate Change, but what are those million euros going to matter in the long run, when living on Earth is no longer an option, because it’s so hot that our flesh begins to MELT? What are you doing to do, buy some new skin? Congratulations. That’s insanely stupid.
The point of this all is that sometimes you just have to forget about the price tag, because the outcome is more valuable than the price itself.

I’m not going to preach to be the most environmental person ever. Because I’m not! But I do my part. I recycle, I ride my bike as much as possible, I turn off my lights. Hell, I’m even a vegetarian! Isn’t that worth anything? If everyone does their part, then it’s still possible to save our world. And in the mean time, the only thing we can do is put pressure on the global leaders to do their part. Continue to tell them what you think. Start groups, write letters, do anything you can to convince thing. There is power in numbers.

This isn’t the end. It’s only the beginning. Maybe it’s the beginning of the end. But I hope that by the time we get to the end of the end, there will be a new beginning awaiting us. A beginning without an end.

British Columbia was the only province in the country to report an increase in greenhouse gas emissi

British Columbia was the only province in the country to report an increase in greenhouse gas emissions from major industries in 2008, according to figures released by Environment Canada.

The figures cover so-called “facility greenhouse gas emissions” from power plants and heavy industries such as mining, pulp and paper, and petroleum.

British Columbia’s dubious distinction was largely the result of oil and gas extraction, Environment Canada said.

The current boom in exploration for shale gas, which has a higher CO2 content, is likely to have played a significant role, energy policy consultant Chris Bataille said.

“On a year-by-year basis I wouldn’t want to put too much weight on it,” he said, “although in the long run we can probably expect emissions to increase from natural-gas extraction in B.C.’s northeast.”

Last week B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell was honoured in Copenhagen for introducing a provincial carbon tax.

But critics such as George Heyman of the Sierra Club say the honour is tainted because the B.C. government continues to offer tax breaks to the petroleum industry.

“This is one of the disturbing contradictions in the Campbell Liberals’ climate-change policy,” he said. “They’ve introduced targets, they’ve introduced a carbon tax ? and yet we’re actually going in the wrong direction.”

But even with last year’s poor result, B.C. still ranks far below Alberta in such facility emissions. In 2008, its heavy industries emitted eight times as much greenhouse gas as B.C., Environment Canada figures show.

3 years more to go, almost we are over the edge of the year 2012, question which rises in the minds

3 years more to go, almost we are over the edge of the year 2012, question which rises in the minds of millions what exactly will happen? if you search on the youtube, google, yahoo, msn and other search engine you will find so many links, most of them saying “The End Of The World “, which fairly I want to clear, It won’t be the end of the world. If you just read and understand the natural procedure of the universe that after 67000 years poles shift “North Pole and South pole” from one position to another which is natural procedure since the earth was formed. Earth is rotating constantly and we all are aware of seasons and also of time day time and night time. it is very simple to understand that in every 1440 minutes ( 24 Hours ) earth rotates 360 degree around the sun, which can be seen as dawn , morning, afternoon , evening and the night, earth is moving on sudden speed measured approx. 980km per hour, right now what we are clarifying here has nothing to do with climate change and effects of the o zone layers, so for a while keep it aside and try to understand what actually is happening. The Earth rotation is slowing down not since now but over the years, which is causing so many natural disasters, ( Floods, Quake , Volcano Eruption, Tsunami, unexpected rainfalls, etc,) this unique planet has it’s own way of life and cure “Self recovering” but this planet is being tortured by people to make life easier and comfortable, industries throw toxic gases which damages the layers, most of the things you buy has written behind “O ZONE FRIENDLY” or O Zone Free, such as :- Perfumes and Body sprays etc. well O Zone Is entire another chapter for now lets focus on what exactly is happening and will happen on 21st December 2012.

Scientist been experimenting on each and everything to know what It is, sometimes they find action and reaction without causing any damage and in a same way sometimes causing damage to the natural procedure, in 1955 one of the scientist given lecture to warn about global warming on that time he was seen as stupid, today it’s a fact. As the temperature is rising here on earth, it is melting the ice turning it into water, specially the glaciers, as they are melting turning into water adding more water into the oceans and seas, the level of water is rising, the natural wind generator water turns into tides and when twist of wind occurs we have witnessed Tsunami, there is curtain level of temperature human , animals and every living creature can survive in, if it drops below or rise up than the level, this form of life will not be able to survive as properly, natural has made everything accordingly and the finniest calculated universe we have. It was also scientist to warn about Global Warming which still people are not aware of, why summer is getting more hot due to solar flares are occurring more than ever before in the sun which is causing heat layer damaging layers of the earth that’s why rainfalls unexpectedly, quakes, floods, etc. it all consist of the behavior of the nature in a way you can say automatically set and assigned to reproduce and reform of living things.

So many theories by so many people, scientist, even include aliens in it? Yet I don’t believe in such thing as an alien since I haven’t seen in real nor experienced any of their art work, like crop dusting specially in United States mostly, to me I say aliens are Advance weaponry system, since scientist are experimenting how far has they reached hardly few people in this world knowing it, but my theory is very different about it which I will share later as the future is in the past, if you can get a little idea by this future is in the past, than aliens will makes logic to you as defensive force which is highly advance than human’s and has anti gravity facility, anyways back 2012.

Mayan calendar is ending on this date, Chinese calendar also completing on the same date, but Christian Roman / Islamic Hirji / Shamsi are continuing. Mayan civilization was way back 25000 Years even more ( check on wikipedia for details ) they disappeared, none of that civilization found that’s strange. But since Mexico has this wonder which is famous as the first wonder of the world, it is the prophecy which has been acknowledge by scientist , politicians , religious leaders and common people, the end of the Mayan calendar will occur in simple words which will Reset to zero “ 000000 “ and again this calculation of time will start like before, who was there to witness at first place when it happened or next time or after it, Religious reference In Holy Books Torah , Bible and Quran it can be found that the earth was entirely demolished and again God gave a chance to reform life on earth, myself personally I went through Holy Quran first by taking the references of verses as 2:012 / 20:12 ( Chapter and than verse ) first about the year I was self exploring and what I found I am sharing with you all here,

002.011 When it is said to them: “Make not mischief on the earth,” they say: “Why, we only want to make peace!”

002.012 Of a surety, they are the ones who make mischief, but they realise (it) not.

020.012 “Verily I am thy Lord! therefore (in My presence) put off thy shoes: thou art in the sacred valley Tuwa.

Next I went about the date and more 21:12 ( GMT way ) , this is what I found

021.011 How many were the populations We utterly destroyed because of their iniquities, setting up in their places other peoples?

021.012 Yet, when they felt Our Punishment (coming), behold, they (tried to) flee from it.

After this I went on the GMT – 11:11 am the time it will occur as I been through this entire thing, I found this

011.011 Not so do those who show patience and constancy, and work righteousness; for them is forgiveness (of sins) and a great reward.

I was curious to know at the same time what Islamic calendar and what Holy Quran has quoted, 1434 / 1435

014.034 And He giveth you of all that ye ask for. But if ye count the favours of God, never will ye be able to number them. Verily, man is given up to injustice and ingratitude.

014.035 Remember Abraham said: “O my Lord! Make this city one of peace and security: and preserve me and my sons from worshipping idols.

These are the statement from The Holy Quran, which in a way referencing refers to the time it will occur.

I was pretty shocked, well believe it or not to understand it you have to know previous verses and than 3 to 4 after on which 20:12 as Islamic 14:34. It’s all logical and mind spinning I guess to many it did not unfolded anything but to me it did. That I see the continuation of life and it is not the end of the world.

As far I understand that pole shifting and melting of glaciers rising of the water will bring natural disasters since winds will blow is unexpected direction and slowing the rotation is affecting all this to happen in last decades, we have witnessed many natural disasters. If 21st December 2012 is the way when run sun will rise from the west and will stay on for 24 hours almost like 2 days because earth will stop its rotation until the poles are shift now it isn’t easy to explain but if such thing occurred in next exactly after 3 years than cities which are next to the seaside , lands which has volcano’s inside, earth plates deep inside which causes quakes will be struck to find new position, by the measurement of scientists north pole will be on United states and Canada along with Mexico and South Pole will be south Asia “ India , Himalaya , China. Sounds fiction but if the natural procedure is this way than what can I say. Most of the cities even countries will be under water and the effect of pole change will also change the weather suddenly so expected rainfall which I cannot even imagine. Mankind has survived before too and it will survive but how much and how is still a question? What if this massive destruction some how triggered nuclear arms than? These questions people should ask their country leaders instead of self exploring since we all are paying taxes and they are experimenting with our money. Is it true that it will occur and what is the solution to make the mankind survive?

This is no War on terror but nature is friendly as well as terrifying against all odds, already we are facing so many problems which just seems like never ending story, is it the answer of all by the nature? I watch few movies thou they are not completely making you understand due to duration and other odd reasons “but watch for 2012 we were warned, 2012 doomsday and the knowing. They have shown destruction and least cleared a little logic if it is going to be this way than how it would be. Rest who am I to challenge God in the ways of the world.

…so how about some carbs? This is one of my favorite bread recipes so far, and the man assistant’s as well. Generally I get two medium sized loaves out of this and they are typically gone within 48 hours. I got this recipe out of the Dairy Hollow House Soup and Bread Cookbook that I picked up one day at a used book store. Best secondhand find I’ve ever found! The book contains mostly soup recipes, but I’ll be honest, I’ve mostly tried out the breads, I’m a sucker for carbs. This is the buttermilk bread recipe and it’s fabulous by itself or with butter, stew, and killer as french toast. Even better if you make some huge slices and make that stuffed french toast with some homemade whipped cream and strawberries.

Buttermilk Bread
1/4 cup lukewarm water
1 tablespoon active dry yeast
2 cups buttermilk
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
4-5 cups unbleached all purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoons sugar

In a large measuring cup, combine the water and yeast. Let stand until foamy. As the yeast proofs, combine the buttermilk and 4 tablespoons butter in a small saucepan, and heat over low heat until the butter melts. Removed the scalded buttermilk mixture from the heat, and let stand until lukewarm. Combine with the proofed yeast.

Combine 4 cups of flour with salt, baking soda, and sugar. Do a quick spins with the mixer. With the mixer running, add the buttermilk mixture. Mix until the dough comes together forming a ball that whips around the workbowl and ‘dings’ slightly to the sides, cleaning them. If the dough is too moist, add additional flour, 2 tablespoons at a time, from the extra cup. If too dry, add more buttermilk until the consistency is right. (You can also use a food processor for this if you don’t have a mixer.)

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured work surgace and knead it until smooth and elastic, 5 to 7 minutes. Butter a bowl and place dough in it. Cover with a clean cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1.5 hours. Punch it down, and let rise again, covered, until doubled, this time about 45-60 minutes. Transfer the dough to a floured surface, knead it for a minute or so, then cover it on the work surgace with a towel for a third quick rise, about ten minutes.

Divde the dough in half and form it into two loaves. Place them into standard size loaf pans buttered. Cover and let rise again, 45-60 minutes.

Towards the end of the fourth rise preheat the oven to 350 F.

Bake the loaves until nicely golden, 35-45 minutes. Turn onto wire racks to cool. Brush the tops with butter.

Let’s eat, shall we?

War is brutal, and it sure ain’t pretty. Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising comes from Codem

War is brutal, and it sure ain’t pretty.

Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising comes from Codemasters and is by far the most realistic shooter on the Xbox 360.

It provides a tense experience and gives a definite feeling of being real, however this game is a mixed bag in terms of gameplay and overall quality.

In Flashpoint a single bullet can end your charge up the beach, and chances are you wont even know where the shot came from,it’s certainly a game for the patient as you have to advance slowly and keep your eyes peeled for even the tiniest movement.

Even then it’s most likely the enemy who will get the first shot off,and thanks to the fact your life can be ended so quickly it’s a tense feeling as you drop to the ground and scan the tree’s looking for the gunmen.

It truly makes me feel like a soldier and it’s a great feeling as you crawl through dirt, looking for that single target who could end your life so brutally.

Thanks to the games realism, all the guns are faithfully recreated and, just as in real life, you must adjust your shots elevation to compensate for distance,it’s a very rewarding experience when you nail your first headshot from 350m.

In a weird choice, you can’t pick your weapon loadout for each mission,it’s a very odd choice for Codemasters to have made, and it’s frankly irritating as you often find yourself using a gun you don’t like.

Graphically the game is unimpressive, and the lack of texture detail is disappointing, however the game world is based on a real island so everything gives you a nice sense of realism, weapons are all faithfully recreated and decently detailed. however for a game that claims to be realistic everything seems rather washed out and colourless, grass is not green, instead it’s a pale greyish green and whilst this does suit the mood of the game it does not set the games look apart from other FPS games.

The story starts promisingly with a stylish black and white intro, however it quickly tails off and in between missions your left with a few paragraphs of text explaining what’s happening.
As such the story fails to keep you hooked and by the end of the game you will most likely not have a clue as to what is happening.
it’s a shame as the story has some potential.

Your squadmates are there to provide support, overall there fairly decent but at times they will run towards a hail of bullets or fail to follow your orders.
This is not helped by the awkward and clunky control system, and the command radial which is used to issue orders takes a long time to navigate, making on the fly flanking maneuvers awkward to pull off.
Likewise selecting a new weapon or piece of equipment is done via an awkward scroll menu which can take valuable time to navigate through.
If your in the middle of reloading and need to hit the dirt, you have to wait for the dam reloading animation to finish,by which time your dead.

Unfortunately the game is a rather glitch and buggy mess, the AI often seems far to aware of where you are and then the next time you can walk up to them and they wont see you.
Enemies will sometimes soak up bullets like a sponge even though you are clearly hitting them.

The single player campaign is a good size, and very enjoyable if you can ignore the bugs and glitches and calling in artillery barrages never gets old.
with a good blend of all out action and stealth missions it does keep you playing, however this game is not for the faint hearted or casual as they will find it frustrating and the usual run and gun tactics will see you get your head blown off.

The Multiplayer is a broken mess, you can very rarely join a game and the game search function often fails to find anything at all.
when you do get a game it’s an enjoyable affair, using a standard Team Deathmatch template and a Search and Destroy style game mode.
each player is given a squad to command, allowing for some strategic gameplay, however thanks to the broken matchmaking and inability to find a game has effectively ended the online community which is now mostly empty.

All in all,Flashpoint provides a good single player experience and a nice change of pace from the standard COD and Halo gameplay.
However it’s lackluster story and multitude of glitches and bugs severely hinder this game and ruin what could have been something great.
It does replicate the feeling of being a soldier well, and it even replicates the fact that enemies are often bullet proof sponges with a vision range of several hundred miles.

Graphics: 80
Gameplay: 78
Lifespan:80

Overall: 75/100

Today, the tower is regarded as one of the most recognizable in the nation, let alone the city of Seattle. It has been featured in hundreds of stunts, big-budget films, and popular culture pieces.

The Space Needle officially became a landmark in April of 1998. It is interesting that the Needle has made it into the 21st century as a historical landmark. In fact, it’s renovation in 2000 cost 5 times as much as the original building at around 21 million dollars.

While the future may not be quite what the visions were that inspired the structure, the Space Needle’s flawlessly engineered curves rising high toward the sky are still breathtaking to hundreds a day in the city. The tower symbolizes to the Seattleites the every-rising quality of the city and its society, headed for the perfection of the stars.
