She plays Rita Bennett on the hit Showtime series Dexter and has starred in the action-packed thrillers Rambo and Punisher: War Zone. No actress can play the love interest or the damsel in distress forever and nobody deserves a chance to wield firearms more than Benz. In Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, Benz gets to play the ultimate female badass, FBI agent Eunice Bloom. Not only does Benz have the pressure of living up to Paul Smecker’s (Willem Dafoe) legacy, but she also has to hold her own on a set overflowing with testosterone.

All Saints Day isn’t the only buzzworthy item on Benz’s resume; Dexter just kicked off its fourth season and the tension is higher than ever. Rita, Dexter and the kids may appear to be the perfect family, but Dexter’s dark passenger is sure to stir up some drama.

Check out what Julie told me about Boondock Saints II and Dexter as well as past projects, Jawbreaker and Saw V.

Showtime, Sunday 10 pm Pacific
Just finished its 3rd season

For my first post I will simply talk about the show. If you are a fan you might already know these basics. But if you are a newcomer you might find this post important. First the links:

Official Showtime site: http://www.sho.com/site/dexter/home.do

Internet Movie Database: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0773262/

Story

Dexter Morgan, a lovable albeit pretending, Serial Killer, doubles as one of Miami Metro Police Blood Splatter Forensic Techs by day and a Serial Killer by night. Dexter takes you into the mind of a troubled man trying to find his place in the world living by a code taught to him by his now deceased father, a decorated cop himself. But of course there is much much more than that.

Based on the novels (Darkly Dreaming Dexter, Dearly Devoted Dexter and Dexter in the Dark) by Jeff Lindsay, Showtime has graciously picked up this series for the last 3 seasons.

Where are we now? Dexter is assimilating himself into society per the “code” by getting married to long time girlfriend, Rita Bennett (played by the stunning Julie Benz). He continues to work alongside his sister Debra (played by Jennifer Carpenter) at Miami Metro under a crack-pot team of detectives, all of which seems to be operating on their own agendas. This unstable police force provides ample side stories which help provide lots of opportunity for character development.

If you haven’t watched the last 3 season I strongly suggest starting from season 1. Of course you don’t have to as I feel anyone can pick up Dexter without too much trouble at any time. I think you would appreciate the story so much more being able to see it come to life, thanks to all of the side stories making sense of Dexter’s code.
