Oleg SMIRNOV, fiul lui Igor SMIRNOV

După epuizarea conflictului dintre liderul de la Tiraspol, Igor Smirnov, şi Evgheni Şevciuk, ex-preşedintele sovietului suprem de la Tiraspol, ca urmare a divergenţei pe problema direcţiei în care ar trebui s-o ia reforma constituţională, arena politică transnistreană este martoră a unui nou conflict politic născut în sânul regimului Smirnov.

Actualul preşedinte autoproclamat al rmn, Igor Smirnov, care este adeptul lichidării sistemului de partide şi trecerea la un sistem electoral uninominal, iar Oleg Smirnov, fiul preşedintelui, este adeptul unui sistem liberal bazat pe pluripartidism.

Potrivit unor observatori locali, publicul este dezorientat şi contrariat de o astfel de turnură a luptei politice dintre tabăra conservatoare şi cea reformistă. Deocamdată, nu este clar dacă este vorba de o luptă de interese, un conflict în interiorul familiei sau o mimare a existenţei unor discuţii pe marginea noul proiect al constituţiei. Pe lângă faptul că este fiu al preşedintelui autoproclamatei rmn, Oleg Smirnov este cunoscut şi ca patron al companiei „Sheriff”, o structură financiară care a monopolizat practic întreaga viaţă economică din regiune. În prezent, „Sheriff” deţine staţii PECO, reţele de supermarketuri, hoteluri, cazinouri, o echipă de fotbal şi un post de televiziune prin cablu. Pe lângă acestea, „Sheriff” este unul din cei mai mari finanţatori ai Partidului „Obnovlenie”, a cărui funcţie de preşedinte o deţine Evghenii Şevciuk. Cu toate acestea, Oleg Smirnov este liderul al unei alte formaţiuni politice Partidul Patriotic din rmn.

Reamintim că, în luna aprilie a acestui an, deputaţii legislativului nistrean au propus un proiect al unei noi constituţii, prin care urmau a fi limitate atribuţiile preşedintelui, în favoarea sovietului suprem. Drept răspuns, Igor Smirnov a ameninţat cu dizolvarea legislativului şi mobilizarea trupelor de cazaci, semnând şi un ordin de creare a unei comisii care a elaborat un alt proiect al constituţiei, prin care urmează a fi sporite atribuţiile preşedintelui rmn.

Conflictul dintre administraţia preşedintelui şi legislativ s-a epuizat odată cu demisia benevolă a lui Evghenii Şevciuk din funcţia de preşedinte al sovietului suprem, unul din iniţiatorii reformei constituţionale care, potrivit presei ruse, este favoritul Kremlinului la postul de preşedinte al republicii separatiste nistrene.

Referendumul pentru adoptarea noului proiect al constituţiei rmn ar putea avea loc la finele acestui an.

“Autoproclamatul preşedinte al republicii moldoveneşti nistrene intenţionează să includă raioanele de est ale Republicii Moldova în componenţa Federaţiei Ruse, prin transformarea acestora într-o regiune rusească. Acest proces urmează să înceapă odată cu adoptarea noului proiect al constituţiei, propus de administraţia prezidenţială. „Transnistria este gata să intre în componenţa Federaţiei Ruse în calitate de regiune”, afirmă liderul separatist de la Tiraspol, Igor Smirnov”. Individul ştie prea bine că în conformitatea cu constituţia Federaţiei Ruse, guvernatorii nu sunt aleşi de populaţie, ci numiţi direct de preşedintele rus. Odată ce favoritul Kremlinului este Evghenii Şevciuk, în cazul intrării Transnistriei în componenţa Rusiei, regimul Smirnov se va dizolva ca o picătură de vodcă într-un pahar de apă cristalină. Aşa că “tătuca nărodului transnistrean” nu ar risca niciodată în aşa hal. E copleşitoare “dragostea de patrie”, dar propria cămaşa e mai aproape de burtă.

Nici Rusiei nu i-ar conveni un astfel de scenariu. În cazul în care s-ar continua în această direcţie, ieşirea Moldovei din zona de influenţă a Rusiei va fi inevitabilă. Multora le-a scăpat faptul că nu doar Rusia poate şantaja Moldova cu recunoaşterea independenţei transnistriei, ci şi Moldova poate şantaja Rusia cu o apropiere de NATO în cazul recunoaşterii independenţei aşa-numitei „republici moldoveneşti nistrene”.

Declaraţiile liderului separatist au doar o singură raţionalitate şi un singur scop: obţinerea susţinerii  Kremlinului şi a unor cercuri radical pro-ruse de la Tiraspol în adoptarea noului proiect al Constituţiei, care va transforma rmn într-un regim prezidenţial autoritar. Este foarte probabil că unor ştabi de la Moscova le este neplăcut modul în care „bătrânul vulpoi” s-a descotorosit de reformistul Evghenii Şevciuk, liderul Partidului „Ravnopravie”, formaţiune care reprezintă mediul de afaceri din stânga Nistrului, iată de ce Smirnov încearcă să îmbuneze cumva “ochiul atotvăzător”. Atât timp cât  nu se ştie cine este “stăpân în casă” la Moscova, iar atmosfera în cadrul cuplului Medvedev-Putin continuă să fie un mare mister pentru toată lumea, Smirnov este liber să-şi facă de cap cum vrea. Inclusiv să instaureze, vorba lui Şevciuk, “un sultanat” pe malul Nistrului.

Since last summer, my life has changed dramatically both physically and spiritually. As I began my transition to the woman that I am, my faith became tested. I began to wonder why exactly God in her infinite wisdom decided to make me a woman mentally but not physically. I didn’t understand why I went through the torture of being a prisoner in my own body for so many years, only to be given the wisdom to finally act on it and then to be rejected by some in my own faith community.

By coming to Convo, I was hoping for some light to be shed on my many questions and doubts. Not only did the light break forth, but my hope was restored. There are others who share my faith that understand what I have gone through and others who don’t but are completely open and accepting. I found both kinds at Convo.

For those who don’t know, I am a member of Reconciling Ministries Network, a United Methodist affiliated organization that seeks full inclusion of everyone, no matter the sexual orientation or gender identity. As a transwoman, my faith is vital to my wholeness as the person God called me to be. When others like myself and friends who are gay men or lesbians are denied the incredible freedom to be a member of the church that is home, we suffer. Not only do we suffer, but so does the Body of Christ as many have incredible gifts that can be used in service of the Church.

Coming away from Convo, I know that with God in your corner, incredible things happen. While I do not know all of the reasons why we all crossed each others paths, I do know that they are amazing. I am excited for the future of our movement.

Grace and Peace

I’ve spent the last five days tucked in the arms of the Rocky Mountains.

I was apart of the worship team for Reconciling Ministries Network’s 2009 Justice and Joy Conference in Estes Park, Colorado, about two hours from Denver. It was a time of celebration for LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered) United Methodists and their allies. Hundreds of people gathered together to proclaim God’s love and acceptance of people from all sexual orientations and gender identities. For the first time in my life, I discovered a connection between my sexuality and spirituality.

I arrived back in New York today, and have seen and experienced so much that it will take me a day or two to recuperate and digest before I can attempt to explain everything. Suffice it to say that these five days were some of the most eye-opening, filling and inspiring days I have ever had. It was almost nothing like I expected, and more than what I thought I needed. I cried, laughed, talked and worshiped with people connected to me by a common thread; a thread I thought would never have a place inside a church.

Le centre national des arts plastiques et le château de fontainebleau s’associe pour proposer une réflexion sur les objets de série, leurs gammes et variations, par le dialogue de deux importantes collections publiques.

Fontainebleau conserve dans ses réserves un très grand nombre de meubles, sièges et objets d’usage commandés aux fournisseurs de la Cour de 1804 à 1870 pour l’aménagement des appartements.

Composée d’oeuvres de designers également, la collection du CNAP comporte quant à elle des meubles et objets de série, des pièces uniques mais aussi des commandes spéciales acquises par l’État ces 30 dernières années.

La mise en regard de ces deux collections tente de reconsidérer les meubles et objets d’usage d’hier et d’aujourd’hui, qu’il s’agisse principalement de tables, de sièges, de luminaires, de céramiques.

E clar ca glanda hipofiza isi face de cap cu mine… da sa vezi ce imi fac eu de cap cu ea!

Nu este neaparat grav… in sensul ca nu foarte multi oameni au murit, insa majoriatea au fost nevoiti sa apeleze la chirurgie pentru indepartarea tumorii, iar in cazurile fericite s-au ales cu un tratament pe viata.

Acum caut disperata un endocrinolog bun… da bun… ca in Braila e unu singur si i s-a urcat la cap. In plus tre sa-mi fac si un RMN… la Bucuresti… ca la Braila City nu e…

Inca mai zambesc…

In ultimele zile starea Anei s-a mai stabilizat. Sangele donat de voi a ajutat-o extraordinar de mult si momentan ajutorul acesta ii este deosebit de benefic, facandu-i-se transfuzii in continuare intr-un ritm destul de ridicat. A fost tratata pentru DIC iar acum nivelul trombocitelor este in parametri normali. Ana capata putere.

Din pacate acum doua seri Ana a inceput sa faca febra, se pare ca una dintre rani i s-a infectat. Acum urmeaza tratament pentru aceasta infectie, iar febra, spun doctorii, e un semn al luptei unui corp puternic.

Nu a fost programata operatia pentru acel hematom situat in lobul parietal stang pentru ca sfatul tuturor specialistilor este sa se mai astepte. O operatie de indepartare a hematomului in acest moment ar putea insemna afectarea multor functii ale Anei: vorbire, miscare, etc. Sfatul este sa se mai astepte putin, poate hematomul se va micsora si la indepartare va provoca mai putine efecte. Sunt foarte multe centre importante situate in zona afectata de hematom si graba in acest caz poate avea repercursiuni grave asupra vietii Anei. Luni 6 iulie vom afla in ce stare se afla hematomul si ce pasi urmeaza a fi facuti.

A trecut in mare parte perioada critica, cea in care Ana nu avea deloc sange. Acum urmeaza partea grea, cea in care trebuie sa avem rabdare. Speram sa auzim vesti bune in urmatoarele zile.

Daca nu ati apucat sa donati si totusi doriti sa o faceti, Institutul de Hematologie din strada Dr Felix are programul intre 7:30 si 13:30.  Dat fiind faptul ca inca nu se stie cand va fi operata Ana, ajutorul vostru este esential in continuare. Mai multe informatii pe pagina: Unde donez?

On Sunday, June 7, the riders will be back in Davao City from Cotabato City for the last leg of the event.

The race started on June 4, Thursday at the Rizal Park in Davao City.

Gulf of Aden: Malaysia can help

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia will be more than happy to impart its expertise to assist the global community, including the United States, in combating piracy at the Gulf of Aden.

Foreign Minister Datuk Anifah Aman said this would be among the issues to be discussed when he meets US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Thursday.

Anifah said Kuala Lumpur has had experience in dealing with piracy and its ability was reflected in the relative peace and safety of the Straits of Malacca, one of the world’s busiest waterways, thanks to joint efforts with Indonesia and Singapore.

“We will be engaging in discussions on the issue of piracy especially, at the Gulf of Aden. The situation there is a cause for concern as it affects the world community, especially in terms of trade and security.

“Malaysia has some experience in dealing with a similar situation in the Straits of Malacca and we can help if our assistance is called for,” he told reporters after receiving a courtesy call from the US Ambassador to Malaysia James Keith at his office Monday.

L’ictus, dal latino “colpo”, è un accidente cerebrovascolare, cioè è conseguenza della mancata irrorazione di una zona del cervello da parte di un’arteria, per la rottura dell’arteria stessa (ictus emorragico) o per la sua occlusione da parte di un trombo (ictus trombotico o ischemico). Ne deriva che le cellule nervose, i neuroni, non ricevono più ossigeno e nutrienti, cioè glucosio, per cui in ultima analisi è come se un pezzo del cervello si spegnesse, causando i sintomi a tutti ben noti. Se il danno è grave, poi, i neuroni avranno un danneggiamento tale per cui moriranno in pochi minuti (danno irreversibile del sistema nervoso centrale, SNC). Nel caso dell’ictus cerebrale, perciò, la prima cosa da fare è evitare un ictus e per fare ciò occorre attuare la prevenzione, perchè il danno dei neuroni è irreversibile.

I FATTORI DI RISCHIO PER L’ICTUS SONO:

• ipertensione arteriosa
• dislipidemia (elevato colesterolo nel sangue)
• obesità
• controllo del diabete
• fumo, stress, sedentarietà
• familiarità di ictus, cioè un familiare diretto già colpito (esempio il padre, un fratello)
• omocisteina elevata.

EZIOPATOGENESI, CIOE’ GENESI DELLA MALATTIA

Una delle cause dell’ictus è l’embolia cerebrale, dovuta alla migrazione di piccolissimi coaguli che, formatisi generalmente nel cuore o nelle arterie carotidei, prendono la strada delle grandi arterie e si fermano in un’arteria cerbrale ostruendo il passaggio del sangue e dell’ossigeno. Ciò può avvenire nel paziente con fibrillazione atriale (aritmia cardiaca), dove a licvello dell’atrio sinistro esistono delle tasche, in cui si formano dei coaguli. Da qui l’utilità della terapia con anticoagulanti (TAO).

La trombosi cerebrale è sicuramente il tipo più frequente di ictus cerebrale. Essa è dovuta alla formazione di un trombo su un’arteria cerebrale lesa da placche arteriosclerotiche (escrescenze che si formano sulle pareti delle arterie, a causa di un eccesso di grassi nel sangue, del fumo di sigaretta o della pressione sanguigna troppo elevata) e si verifica prevalentemente di notte o nelle prime ore del mattino.

Ma l’ictus non sempre si manifesta in maniera eclatante, talora si pososono avere solo,

Attacchi ischemici transitori (TIA):

I TIA sono un defict temporaneo di una funzione cerebrale (perdita della parola, diminuizione della forza di un arto), dovuto generalemnte all’ostruzione transitoria di un’arteria cerebrale da parte di piccoli emboli o trombi provenienti da placche aterosclerotiche delle arterie del collo che portano il sangue al cervello. I sintomi durano pochi minuti, anche se talora possono durare alcune ore (non più di 24 ore) e regrediscono completamente, a differenza di quanto avviene per l’ictus cerebrale.

APT.

Sintomatolgia dell’ictus:

Il paziente può presentare:

• stato di sopore, fino al coma vigile o profondo
• avere disartria, cioè incapacità ad articolare la parola, fino alla
• afasia, cioè non riuscire a parlare
• disfagia, cioè incapacità a deglutire, specie i liquidi
• debolezza e/o difficoltà di movimento di un arto o di un lato del corpo
• offuscamento o peridta della vista da un occhio
• problemi di linguaggio, come pronuncia difettosa (disartria) o difficoltà a trovare le parole (afasia)
• più raramente vertigini o vista sdoppiata (diplopia).

Gli attacchi ischemici transitori sono degli importanti segni promonitori, utili per predire il rischio di ictus cerebrale in ciascun paziente. Infatti il rischio di ictus per una persona che abbia avuto almeno un TIA è circa dieci volte superiore a quello di un’altra persona con le stesse caratteristche che non abbia mai soffferto di TIA.

CURA

Per impostare una cura adeguiata è fondamentale stabilire, grazie alla TAC e alla RMN, se si tratta di un ictus ischemico (come nella maggior parte dei casi) oppure emorragico.
per esempio, se l’ictus è di natura ischemica, cioè dovuto a trombosi o embolia, si può somministarre al paziente una sostanza in grado di sciogliere il coagulo (trombolisi); somministrare la stessa sostanza nel caso di un ictus emorragico significa peggiorare l’emorragia.
In alcuni casi, invece, è meglio tenere il paziente sotto osservazione, in attesa che l’evoluzione dei sintomi orienti ad una diagnosi più certa e indichi se può essere impostata una terapia mirata, anticoagulante o antiaggregante.

Relazione tra chirurgia vascolare e ictus

Il chirurgo vascolare può correggere un importante fattore di rischio per l’ictus cerebrale: la stenosi delle carotidi, ossia un restringimento dovuto alla presenza di palcche ateroscleortiche sulle pareti delle carotidi.

La stenosi delle carotidi si rielva grazie all’ecodoppler dei tronchi sovraortici, un esame che non richiede iniezioni e non provocadolore: passando una sonda sul collo del paziente si osserva il flusso nelle arterie carotidi e si cercano eventuali indurimenti o retsringimenti dellle arteri

Jay Rosen (@jayrosen_nyu) pointed me to Mark Morford’s post on the Internet side of the San Francisco Chronicle entitled “Die, newspaper, die?”.  Mark, its like this, I do miss my Rocky Mountain News that I no longer had the time to read.  Well, I really miss the time, but for this we’ll focus on the paper.  Point is, I didn’t want it to die, but I am pissed it missed the writing on the wall.  You are right, 500 years and its first real threat…well the threat showed up I think 8 years ago and that is my point.  What the hell have they been doing?  Adapt, change, survive! Darwin would say, “yep!”

Yes papers were a source of  in depth investigated reporting, as opposed to a twit shouting something that might have happened somewhere in the world.  Newspapers were the voice of our community and I did count the tabloid RMN as my source for trusted information, but its gone.  Then again I can still grab a tabloid format paper when paying for groceries and see that Elvis was in fact sighted, turns out he is the marriage councilor for Brad and Jolie.  Trust is earned, the RMN had mine, now I am looking for another and have been for much longer than the last 45 days.

I find it ironic that you stand atop your virtual mount on SFGate to shake your fist at the propeller topped beanie wearers who you say are swigning their virtual sledgehammers on the presses of newspapers.  Rather, I see them standing around the moldering idle presses with their iPhones twittering, “yep, no pulse.  Time of death…”.  The playing field changed and newspapers arrogantly stood on their laurels and reminded us all that they are in fact meaningful and that we really ought to remember to read them.  Don’t be mad at the geeks, be mad at the newspapers.

I am absolutely for the second coming of the Rocky, its phoenix rising I hope in the form of indenvertimes.com, but I am stunned to watch them work towards the definition of stupidity.  By asking for subscriptions based on the loyal few instead of examining how other media formats are achieving record growth and audiences they are simply repeating past behavior and I assume expecting a different outcome.  Wait, they shout, it will be just like it was, but online.  Stupidity.  Hell, its not even smart business.

Ok, if you made it this far we can now share a poignant moment together.  Losing newspapers means giving into the pace and thus stress of the Internet culture.  Its like the first 24×7 convenience store’s lights in a town that used to roll up at night.  Eventually this leads to a WalMart and suddenly you have two traffic lights in town.  Newspapers were the anchor point for community.  You could post legal notices and assume everyone would see it.  They recorded history and while nothing supposedly dies on the Internet I can’t see it lasting like finding an old paper in a wall you are tearing down.  Clearly something must become that new anchor in a world where community has become very different, very virtual.  I would like that something to be of the same trustworthy fiber, the same voice of a community that a newspaper would be.  It just needs to run on Ethernet…damn, there goes the propeller again.

So, while I don’t know which came first, the broad sheet or the tabloid, which ever came second was assuredly a shocking change that floored a portion of the audience.  Now is the time to floor us again indenvertimes.com, show us how it can be completely different, achieve success, while providing the truth, the voice, the community.  Show us you have been paying attention to the very news you report, leverage that wealth of information, and create the next answer.  My loyalty awaits.

Rocky Mountain News winter sports edition cover from January 31, 1937.

Colorado lost a good friend this week, as the 150-year-old Rocky Mountain News ceased publication on Friday, February 27, 2009.

I will miss many things about the Rocky, from the outstanding photography to the great investigative reporting to the tenacity and hustle to report the news. And I will miss their ski and snowboard coverage.

It’s a sad day for journalism.

RIP RMN.

Today marks the last day of existence for the Rocky Mountain News. E.W. Scripps announced its closure yesterday. Though it was far from a surprise, it was still a shock — how could this paper disappear from Denver?

Honestly, the Rocky Mountain News was not necessarily my paper of choice in the Denver area. I wasn’t a huge fan. In my father’s opinion, it was too conservative. My favorite thing in the newspaper used to be the hockey coverage, and I didn’t like that in the RMN, either. We read this paper in a few classes in high school, and for some reason, I never really took a liking to it.

There was another newspaper I liked, and still do. The Denver Post, with which the RMN established a Joint Operating Agreement in 2001, was what we read in our household, and I continue to read it more regularly than the RMN. Now it is the sole paper in Denver.

Unfortunately, this is the way it will to have to be in Denver. Denver is just not big enough to carry two major newspapers. I’m sad about the Rocky, even though I didn’t agree with its editorials and I prefer the Post. It marks a huge loss in journalism, from a smaller job market for journalists to a larger dominance of a single editorial board, both of which are ultimately, if ever-so-slightly, detrimental to free speech and opinion. Furthermore, Colorado is considered one of the most flexible states in terms of journalistic rights; journalists in Colorado are more protected from libel than journalists in most other states. It’s a shame that the amazing freedom of the press in this state is witnessing the closure of one of its oldest and most storied institutions.

For that, for the other journalists in Denver, I am truly disappointed that the Rocky has seen its final day.
