While recycling riddims is standard practice in dancehall it’s still kinda unusual to get (official) remixes of vocals but this is exactly what Truckback have done with Erup’s 08 anthem Click Mi Finger. Getting to grips with the tune you couldn’t escape at this year’s carnival are Grahmzilla, Nick Catchdubs, Lunice and Montreal-based Ghislain Poirier.

Ghis’ recent efforts have seen him developing his bass heavy take on soca and have mostly missed the mark, but his version of Click Mi Finger sees him back where he operates best (hip hop tempo) with a stripped-back and broody club killer.

Whilst we’re talking about Ghis be sure to check his amazing remix of Fauna’s Gauchito Gil (cop this 12 while you still can and get a banging version by Douster thrown in for free). It’s the third tune on the player here and has to be one of his best bits for a whiiille.

Bootsie and Tigarah go way way waaaay back. Back before she was a Japanese Queen and was just a little Japanese Princess. But seriously, I came across Tigarah back in 2006 I think when she sent me an e-mail via myspace asking me to check out her music. And I’m pretty sure it was her since the e-mail read something like this:

Hey Ther! My name is Tigarah and I am rocking the funking airways of your lifesouls with my Baile Funk music! I want to go into politics and be known as Japanese MIA! I love cute things and think you will enjoy my musics aplenty! Please check out my myspace and add me if you like my hot beat! Xoxo TIGARAH! -=^_^=- peeeeeeeeesuuu!

… okay. Maybe it wasn’t so blatantly stereotypically Asian as that, but it was close! Anyways I checked out her myspace and was pretty much blown away. At the time, what she was doing, was pretty unheard of and was pretty amazing. I bought her EP and awaited her album release later “that fall,” but it never happened. Fast forward to 2009 and there’s a new album (The Funkeira goes BANG!), a new EP (TIGARAH!), and really a whole new Tigarah. If you like Baile Funk music and not understanding the lyrics to the song you’re listening to (aka Baile Funk) then you should really check this girl out. If you just like fun music to dance to then Tigarah is definitely for you too. I’ve uploaded my favorite tracks spanning her career thus far as well as the hard to mind Mr. D mixtape which features her and Crime Mob and just all around craziness. xoxo love bootsie. peeeesuuuu!

Visión Nocturna es un proyecto que se realiza en la carrera de ARQUITECTURA donde se da vida a un espacio desperdiciado de la Universidad utilizando los recursos existentes, generando  la convivencia social por medio de la descontextualización de lo que conocemos como una sala  cinematográfica moderna, donde la tipología de las proyecciones sean de cine, música y actividades artisticas.

Esperamos que nos visiten muy seguido. Este Blog es creado para que sirva como un medio para recibir sus comentarios acerca de las películas que proyectamos y las que quieran que proyectemos. Así como para que nos hagan llegar sus sugerencias y recomendaciones.

Aquí vamos a estar subiendo videos, imágenes, comentarios y todo lo relacionado al espectacular mundo del cine. También por este medio publicaremos las películas que se estarán proyectando próximamente.

Stone y De Palma configuran y llevan hasta el exceso un antihéroe chabacano, altanero, sin escrúpulos y violento, pues es su carácter agresivo lo que le permite, casi sin problema alguno, despuntar en la vida y llegar a la tan ansiada fama, al precio que sea. Y la verdad es que lo consiguen, creando con este personaje, tan poco afín a moralidad alguna (al menos en apariencia), todo un icono cinematográfico que pasó, merecidamente, a la historia del cine. Pero a pesar de la aparente vacuidad de cualquier tipo de sentimiento en un hombre como Montana, éste se muestra en contadas ocasiones en un ser con sentimientos y con conflictos morales. Y es esto lo que hace ser fascinante a un personaje como éste: un hombre frío a la hora de ejecutar la violencia más descarnada, pero que a la vez se torna como una persona sensible en ciertas ocasiones (siempre en los límites de su personalidad), incluso el llegar a cuestionar la moralidad de sus acciones

Este exceso en la creación de Montana, encuentra su justificación en la elevación del personaje a cotas casi místicas, llegando a pensar, en algunos momentos, en el carácter inmortal de este antihéroe en toda regla. Pero esta inmortalidad que envuelve al personaje y la incondicionalidad de sus seguidores (que los tiene, y muchos). No hubiese sido tal si debajo de la piel no hubiese estado el que está, me refiero a Al Pacino, que hace un ‘tour de force’ impecable. El estilo fanfarrón, chulesco y la mala uva que destila el personaje lo imprime magistralmente un excelente Pacino en uno de los papeles de su vida, memorable e irrepetible
