<title><![CDATA[Maison Troisgros]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>France has a rich culinary tradition &#8211; shining names like <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marie-Antoine_Car%C3%AAme">Carême</a>, <a href="http://www.escoffier.com/">Escoffier</a> and the protagonists of <a href="http://www.julotlespinceaux.com/2008/09/whats-nouvelle-cuisine.html">Nouvelle Cuisine</a> (most importantly <a href="http://www.michelguerard.com">Michel Guérards</a> und <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fernand_Point">Fernand Point</a>) have left most important marks on Haute Cuisine all around the world. Michelin and Gault-Millau are the guidebooks for any foodie&#8230; And, there are places of culinary pilgrimage with a long tradition, most notably<a href="http://www.auberge-de-l-ill.com/"> L&#8217;Auberge de l&#8217;Ill</a> (the third star sind 1967), <a href="http://www.troisgros.com/">Maison Troisgros</a> (three stars since 1968) and <a href="http://www.pic-valence.fr/">Maison Pic</a> (where three consecutive generations were awarded three stars). Truly impressive, given that outside of France Winkler held three stars for highest number of years&#8230;</p>
<p>My affection and love for these &#8216;great houses&#8217; began in Alsace at the <a href="http://highendfood.wordpress.com/2009/02/01/auberge-de-lill/">Auberge de L&#8217;Ill</a> where the atmosphere, the pride of the culinary heritage, the dedication to the diner and, most strikingly, the implicitness of being top-notch without being arrogant was just impressive. The whole gastronomic theatre is celebrated in the best possible way. For me, the overall experience was just moving.</p>
<p>Being infected with this virus I planned to visit the other &#8216;great houses&#8217; to see whether they can live up to their reputation and manage to create special moments. Last autumn I finally got the opportunity to do so&#8230; Somehow I feel that a report about my lunch at <a href="http://www.troisgros.fr/">Maison Troisgros</a> should come first&#8230;</p>

<p>Maison Troisgros is legendary &#8211; 41 years of three Michelin stars: Jean-Baptiste Troisgros and his wife Marie bought the Hôtel des Platanes in 1930 where Marie became the first chef de cuisine. Trained at Lucas Carton and Ferdinand Point the two sons Jean and Pierre succeeded Marie at the stove and the first star came in 1955. In 1965 the restaurant was renamed Les Frères Troisgros and got its second Michelin star, the third in 1967. Clearly the two brothers were among the most influential chefs in the Nouvelle Cuisine era. Interestingly, in the mid-70s sous-vide cooking was <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sous-vide">re-invented</a> by Geroge Pralus at Troisgros&#8230;</p>
<p>Finally, Pierre&#8217;s son Michel came back to Roanne in 1983 to work alongside his father after the sudden death of Jean. Trained at the Lycée Technique Hotelier in Grenoble where he met his future wife Marie-Pierre Michel had travelled the world to gain experience in some of the then best houses. This included posts at Frèdy Giradet in Lausanne, Taillevent in Paris, Chez Panisse in San Francisco, Comme chez sois in Brussels, Hotel Connaught in London and Michel Guérard in Eugénie-les-Bains. What a tour! In 1998 Marie and Michel took over as the current owners of the Maison Troisgros.*</p>

<p>Today, the reputation is stellar &#8211; it consistently ranks about the best restaurants in the world and has also been voted &#8216;Best Restaurant in the World&#8217; by Zagat (2007) and Opinionated About (2008). Quite impressive&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>My Visit</strong></p>
<p>After some driving I arrived at Roanne and immediately saw that there is a central station just across the street from the restaurant. Hmm, next time I will definitely come by train given their spectacular wine selection which I couldn&#8217;t enjoy this time that much&#8230;</p>
<p>I was a bit early and sat down in the library where Michel Troisgros has gathered a nice selection of cookbooks but nothing more, not a stunning hall-of-fame of the most important books of many great chefs. Somehow nobody really noticed me so it took some time to get a coffee and some water. Almost exactly at noon a waiter approached me and asked where I wanted to have my aperitif. I opted for the terrace in the small garden, an oasis to really leave all everyday&#8217;s troubles far behind.</p>

<p>Nibbles were nice but not overwhelming: a warm tomato with sesame and ginger on the stick was quite good and refreshing, a cracker with <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semolina">semolina</a> and lime as well as a nice poached Japanese tomato with coriander chutney on top of a kind of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puri_(food)">puri</a> (which I found a bit too large). After a short study of the menu card and ordering I was escorted inside&#8230;</p>

<p>Modern in its best sense the main dining room (there is also a separate room for groups) is really welcoming and generous &#8211; enough space between tables such that one is not forced to participate in the conversations of other diners. The interior creates a truly comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.</p>

<p><strong>The Menu</strong></p>
<p>Surprisingly, Michel decided to discontinue the menu of signature dishes of Jean and Pierre. Now, there are still three classic dishes left. So, choice was easy &#8211; I simply opted for the <strong>Impression d&#8217;été</strong> menu (7 courses at €185) and included one signature dish from Michel from the ALC selection (frog legs). In the end, they charged only €15 supplement for this &#8211; more than fair I would say&#8230;</p>

<p style="text-align:left;">It started with <strong>ceps and pear</strong> and I must say that this accounts to my Top 5 dishes in 2009. Thinly sliced like a carpaccio, both products were shockingly good and worked amazingly well together. But, the special moment came via a citrus vinaigrette with mustard seeds. First, the dimensioning was perfect as if one of the poor guys in the kitchen had counted the number of mustard seeds &#8211; a perfect balance of citric, nutty and spicy flavours together with rustic ceps and slightly sweet pears.  Second, though it had only a bit texture it was sublime and the small biting effect significantly elevated the dish. Third, the vinaigrette enlarged the dimension and perception of the dish. DIVINE.</p>

<p>As a second amuse I had <strong>artichoke gnochetti with smoked sardine</strong>. Another winner &#8211; Troisgros thinly slices the artichokes and fills them with a cream of artichokes, olive oil and cumin which is delicious on its own. Then the flavour spectrum is augmented by adding one piece of smoked sardine, some orange zests and hazelnut oil. A masterpiece in craftmanship and composition of flavours. Only the sardine could have been more present, say one small piece per gnochetti as he <a href="http://www.troisgros.fr/english/recette.php?IDrecette=31">now</a> serves the dish (and adds poutargue). This is a very programmatic dish as it clearly shows the character of Troisgros&#8217; <strong>cuisine acidulée</strong>. Outstanding!</p>

<p>After these two dishes I was ready for the meal of my life if the master would have sustained that amazing level. The first course of the menu arrived: <strong>oysters with sorrel</strong>. Gently poached, the oysters emerged fleshy and a bit veal-like. But only on the surface, the aftertaste had an intense sea food flavour which was intensified by sorrel and caraway. Only the overall mouthfeel was a bit too harmonious lacking textural contrasts. Interestingly, the sorrel was not over-dominant. Excellent to outstanding.</p>

<p>Next was my insert: <strong>roasted frog legs with cauliflower</strong>. A seemingly simple dish but Troisgros shows how simple dishes can be brilliant. Treated like a saté he roasts the frog legs with a pesto of cumin (separately roasted in the oven), pine nuts, eggplant, olive oil, tamarind and coriander which brings in a very intense curry note without dominating the just perfect frog legs . Two backdrops: roasted cauliflower would immensely enhance the dish by adding some texture. And, in the end, the jus was a bit too fatty for me which turned out to be problematic in the course of the overall menu. Excellent.</p>

<p><strong>&#8216;Half moons&#8217; (mezzaluna) of potato, chanterelles and potimarron</strong> was next. <a href="http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potimarron">Potimarron</a> is an intense pumpkin better known as Hokkaido which was just in season in September. Similar to the artichoke dish, potatoes are thinly sliced and filled with a pumpkin cream. The sauce was based on a light beurre blanc with Jerez vinegar which added a slight acidity (hey, this is Troisgros). Overall subtle, almost decent but very delicious dish without any rough edges. Excellent to outstanding.</p>

<p style="text-align:left;"><strong>Cod with grapes and endive</strong> &#8211; another dish served with a beurre blanc, this time based on a special Languedoc wine (called Ravio?). Hmmm, it started to feel a bit repetitive and also made me feel full. The dish itself was impeccable: a perfectly cooked cod, confied red grapes, walnuts and a bit too less endive (the special kick here). Excellent to outstanding on a stand-alone basis, but clearly inappropriate in terms of menu dramaturgy.</p>

<p><strong>Blue lobster with Poudre du Voyage and barberry</strong>. Clearly the weakest dish especially for a restaurant of this class &#8211; the lobster was overdone, there was way too much butter and the spice mix was over-dominant. And, I must say that using Roellinger&#8217;s <a href="http://maisons-de-bricourt.com/shop_roellinger/index2.php?code_lang=en">Poudre du Voyage </a>does not seem too creative for a chef of Michel Troisgros&#8217; reputation. Last but not least, there was not enough spinach to provide a significant counterpart to the intense flavours. Poor.</p>

<p><strong>Venison with capers butter and pommes soufflées</strong>. A benchmark specimen of venison, masterly prepared &#8211; tender and brittle just like good game needs to be. On the negative side, the beurre de câpres was way too fatty and rich for me although it formed a nice accord with the venison. Troisgros would not be Troisgros if there would be not acidity &#8211; here the vinegar in the beurre was a bit too strong. Overall, still a very good to excellent composition.</p>

<p style="text-align:left;">The <strong>selection of cheese</strong> was excellent but not really memorable. I was quite surprised that they had only a rather limited number of cheeses (maybe it was only one of two carts?) &#8211; here in Germany the top houses are often criticized for not having 30+ types in stock&#8230;</p>

<p style="text-align:left;">Desserts: the <strong>lemon verbena sabayon with chocolate </strong>was excellent &#8211; a bit old school in forms of the dense presentation in a glass, but the flavours were distinct, clear and shining. Slightly too creamy for me&#8230;</p>

<p>The second small dessert was <strong>mikimoto of pear and coriander</strong> &#8211; really outstanding as the sweet and intense pear ice cream joined forces with intense and fresh strawberries as well as a strawberry jus seasoned by coriander. For the first time of the meal, the partly crunchy partly soft meringues suggested a kind of textural interplay&#8230; By the way, the dish is called Mikimoto in honor of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikimoto_K%C5%8Dkichi">Kokichi Mikimoto</a> who was the first to produce cultured pearls in the early 1920s&#8230;</p>

<p>As I was about to explode I was glad that the last dessert was rather small <em>and</em> one of the true highlights of the meal. <strong>Noisette biscuit with mirabelles</strong> &#8211; simple but very interesting as there was also a temperature contrast due the warm biscuit. The mirabelles were amazing in flavour and worked nicely with the nutty biscuit! Somehow I had the feeling that this could resemble a deconstructed galette. At Troisgros? Rather not on purpose&#8230; Outstanding+!</p>

<p>A nice presentation of petit fours concluded the meal &#8211; I really like the boys (?), I was really tempted to play with them a bit but felt too full too move more than necessary.</p>

<p>Service was attentive and professional but not as hearty and nice as at Pic the day before. As I had to drive back (train next time) I allowed myself only one glass of red (Menetou Salon 2008, Domaine de la Tour Martin) to accompany the venison.</p>
<p><strong>Overall</strong></p>
<p>This was an excellent meal, yet not outstanding as I would have hoped for given all the praise Michel Troisgros&#8217; cooking receives. The first two amuse and the last two desserts were really outstanding or divine but on the other hand especially the lobster was quite disappointing&#8230;</p>
<p>Compared to the structuralist approach of modern cooking (pulling all strings in temperatures, flavours and textures) Michel&#8217;s cooking almost completely lacked the textural dimension. So, as I am used to the utmost balance of modern dishes I felt that most of his dishes are incomplete and could benefit from more textures. This could make them more interesting overall by adding rough edges and surprises.</p>
<p>My third issue was menu dramaturgy but maybe that was a singular experience &#8211; the two consecutive beurre blanc dishes almost killed me, in most other dishes there was too much butter&#8230; So, this was not light in any sense.</p>
<p>We are talking world-class here, far beyond champions-league or first national division and then I expect more constancy, more edges and a more thought-out menu dramaturgy. I just wasn&#8217;t thrilled and moved as much as during my meals at <a href="http://highendfood.wordpress.com/category/europe/germany-fine-dining/amador/">Amador</a>, <a href="http://highendfood.wordpress.com/category/europe/germany-fine-dining/schloss-berg-germany-fine-dining-europe/">Schoss Berg</a>, <a href="http://highendfood.wordpress.com/category/europe/benelux-fine-dining/hof-van-cleve-benelux-fine-dining-europe/">Hof van Cleve</a> (new review to come) or <a href="http://highendfood.wordpress.com/category/europe/benelux-fine-dining/oud-sluis-benelux-fine-dining-europe/">Oud Sluis</a> (update to come). Here and at most of the other top houses I visited in France last year I have the impression that the French have somehow the connection to the absolute top.</p>
<p>Nevertheless, the cuisine of Michel Troisgros is truly unique because there is a recurrent theme in all dishes: acidity. His dishes are subtle and clever but for me they are still stuck in Nouvelle Cusine in composition and preparation. If he goes the next step as already visible in the first two more modern dishes this will be a worth any trip. In the meantime, I will come back when I am in the area and do not plan a special journey only to eat at Troisgros.</p>
<p style="text-align:center;"><strong>So in the end Maison Troisgros didn&#8217;t wow me as I had hoped for and the spirit of a &#8216;great house&#8217; didn&#8217;t come across that much &#8211; it just didn&#8217;t click&#8230; Maybe next time?</strong></p>

<title><![CDATA[Revue de concert : Bénabar au Scarabée de Roanne (31/10/09)]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p style="text-align:justify;">Trois mois après le concert au  <a href="http://benabar.pifpaf.ch/viewtopic.php?p=282564#p282564">Théâtre antique de Vienne</a>, voici donc notre première date de la tournée d&#8217;automne. Trois mois de pause qui font non seulement du bien dans le sens où ils permettent de prendre un peu de recul afin de &#8220;mieux&#8221; apprécier le spectacle à la reprise, mais qui donnent également envie de découvrir les changements (probables ou certains) après la période des festivals d’été. Ainsi, c’est avec une bonne dose de curiosité dans les bagages que nous nous retrouvons en fin d’après-midi devant le Scarabée de Roanne où une petite vingtaine de personnes se voient déjà rassemblées devant les larges grilles qui séparent la salle du parking.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Ouverture des portes vers 18h45, un petit sprint, et hopp, on se retrouve devant la scène, légèrement décalé vers la droite, dans l’angle entre la scène principale et une petite avant-scène qui prolonge dorénavant le plateau de quelques mètres. La salle se remplit petit à petit, en jetant un coup d’œil en direction des gradins, on a rapidement du mal à repérer des sièges vides &#8211; ce qui est plutôt bon signe, après tout.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Vers 20h15, les lumières s’éteignent et plongent la salle dans le noir, et c’est donc à Eric Toulis (qui &#8211; accompagné de son contrebassiste &#8211; assure la première partie) de monter sur scène. Quel bonheur de retrouver ce Monsieur et ses chansons qui sont pleines d’humour et de jeux de mots, tout en restant dans un registre fin et intelligent.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">On a l’occasion de découvrir trois titres de son nouveau spectacle, et franchement, ça donne envie de voir (et d&#8217;entendre^^) la suite. La soirée commence bien, on passe un moment à la fois drôle et sympathique qui nous met dans l’ambiance pour la suite. N&#8217;empêche, ça fait du bien d&#8217;avoir affaire à une première partie qu&#8217;on apprécie&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Petite pause de changement de plateau, avant que les premières notes de la Gaîté parisienne nous annoncent l’arrivée de Bénabar et de ses acolytes. Il est 21h10, et nous voilà partis pour une soirée bourrée d&#8217;énergie&#8230;et de surprises !</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">La première partie du spectacle ressemble pas mal à la tournée de printemps : pas mal de titres du dernier album (avec &#8220;Y’a une fille qu’habite chez moi&#8221; comme seule exception), relativement peu de &#8220;vieilles&#8221; chansons. Puis arrive &#8220;Majorette&#8221;&#8230;dans une très belle version qui n’a que très peu de choses en commun avec la précédente, que je trouvais dans l’ensemble quand même plutôt décevante. Le petit détail qui change tout : le retour de Denis à l’accordéon ! Belle interprétation, sensible et touchante, et de nouveaux arrangements qui réunissent l&#8217;accordéon, les cuivres et le piano, tandis que la lumière des projecteurs met les (deux) principaux protagonistes en avant (j&#8217;en profite pour le dire une fois de plus : chapeau Monsieur Bosley ! Pour l&#8217;ensemble du spectacle, pas seulement pour ce moment précis <img title="Clin d'oeil" src="http://benabar.pifpaf.ch/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" /> ).</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Après &#8220;La Berceuse&#8221; (toujours en version a cappella, &#8220;pom pom pom&#8221; <img title="Mister Red" src="http://benabar.pifpaf.ch/images/smilies/MDR15.gif" alt=":mrred:" /> ), c’est le moment du roman photo qui a connu – à son tour – quelques petits changements (avec notamment un Indien traitre camouflé &#8220;en bonus&#8221; : qui l&#8217;aurait cru ? :p ). Malgré tout, &#8220;Les mots d’amour&#8221; reste ma chanson préférée, à la fois pour les arrangements et pour le délire sur scène qui donne tout simplement la pêche ! Petit souvenir de la dernière tournée avec le retour de &#8220;Qu&#8217;est-ce que tu voulais que je lui dise ?&#8221; (mention spéciale pour le violon &#8211; même si, à la base, j&#8217;ai souvent du mal avec les cordes sur des chansons &#8220;légèrement&#8221; graves, en l&#8217;occurrence ça rend carrément bien), moyen coup de gueule à cause des gens qui n&#8217;ont pas suffisamment de respect pour leur entourage pour éviter de chanter non seulement faux mais aussi à haute voix sur les chansons calmes (et encore, je parle même pas des fameuses deux secondes de décalage&#8230;), et grand coup de nostalgie avec &#8220;Monospace&#8221; et &#8220;Monsieur René&#8221; (qui &#8220;tourne la tage&#8221; [sic]  <img title="Nargue" src="http://benabar.pifpaf.ch/images/smilies/n_bizar.gif" alt=":-)p" /> ).</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Après avoir été accompagné à la guitare par Brett et Xavier (qui s&#8217;en vont, l&#8217;un après l&#8217;autre), Bénabar reste seul sur l&#8217;avant-scène et commence la chanson suivante (&#8220;Triste Compagne&#8221;)&#8230;à la guitare <img title="plait il" src="http://benabar.pifpaf.ch/images/smilies/Hein86.gif" alt=":plaitil:" /> Même en sachant que cet instrument faisait depuis un petit moment partie de la &#8220;boîte à outils&#8221;, on n&#8217;aurait sans doute pas imaginé le voir apparaitre de cette manière-là au cours du spectacle &#8211; surprise réussie, et n&#8217;empêche, le moins que l&#8217;on puisse dire c&#8217;est que ça donne lieu à un moment plutôt original, je trouve (pour vous faire une petite idée de la chose, voici la vidéo : <a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xb06wz_benabar-triste-compagne_music">clic</a> <img title="Clin d'oeil" src="http://benabar.pifpaf.ch/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" /> N&#8217;oubliez pas de changer le &#8220;SD&#8221; dans la barre d&#8217;état en &#8220;HD&#8221; pour l&#8217;avoir en bonne qualité).</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Au départ, j&#8217;étais un peu sceptique face au principe de l&#8217;avant-scène, mais finalement, l&#8217;espace supplémentaire se voit bien intégré à la fois dans le spectacle et dans la mise en scène, non seulement pour la soirée électro qui se voit maintenant accompagnée d&#8217;une &#8220;vraie&#8221; chorégraphie (développée et ensuite répétée avec le soutien d&#8217;un professionnel du métier, il parait. Huhu^^) et qui rassemble musiciens et techniciens sur scène (difficile de décrire à quoi ça ressemble, mais le résultat est tout simplement&#8230; énorme <img title="Mister Red" src="http://benabar.pifpaf.ch/images/smilies/MDR15.gif" alt=":mrred:" /> ).</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Trois chansons en rappel (dont &#8220;L&#8217;Itinéaire&#8221; au piano), et les lumières se rallument. Plus de deux heures de spectacle, pleines d&#8217;énergie et de complicité (à la fois sur scène et dans le public : merci à mes voisines de concert <img title="Clin d'oeil" src="http://benabar.pifpaf.ch/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" /> ) qui donnent envie de récidiver (inutile de le contester, c&#8217;est déjà prévu <img title="J'ai rien fait" src="http://benabar.pifpaf.ch/images/smilies/n_angel.gif" alt="o:-)" /> ).<br />
Merci d&#8217;être venu(e)s, merci d&#8217;être resté(e)s &#8211; ce fût une belle soirée qui laissera des tas de souvenirs !!</p>

<p>Well, here&#8217;s some more. </p>
<p>Hey, attacking me has gotten her exposed in a way that she hates up to this point.  The obvious way to make me stop is to&#8230; yes, attack me some more, and do so in low, vile, utterly dishonest and unconscionable ways.</p>
<p>Here are just two examples of what I have been enduring recently, comments made in my name on Flickr:</p>

<p>Needless to say, those comments were not made by me, nor from my account.  She created an account to fraudulently use my name and image to leave such comments and defame me.</p>
<p>And it&#8217;s hardly the first time.</p>
<p>This is, in fact, the seventh account that Flickr has shut down for abuse of my name and image.  </p>
<p>This is the image of righteousness, the apex of virtue and morality, according to Miss Valenzuela.  Because she is angry, everything is permitted, nothing is forbidden, she will never back down, never apologize, never admit that she has gone too far or done anything wrong, except by way of accusing me of having done worse.  I have never done such despicable things, let alone with such persistence or enmity.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m posting this for the benefit of anyone who ever Googles her name.  She is a deeply disturbed woman, as evidenced above and in my past posts tagged with her name.  She will rationalize any behavior to suit her whim, and never suffer even the slightest twinge of conscience.</p>

So I&#8217;m reiterating, here at the top of the post, <strong>her own words</strong> on this subject:</p>

<p>Those words were written by her in an IM chat on 6 December 2008, and I have the archives to prove it.  She is both proud and not sorry that she is a racist.  Her words. Yet it is &#8220;ridiculous&#8221; to call her such, despite her pride in it, despite her not being sorry for it, and despite her vile attacks on a completely innocent woman, as demonstrated below.</p>
<p>She&#8217;s tried many, many times to get me to erase this evidence of her viciousness and bigotry.  Which is why it will never disappear. </p>

<p>When things were good between my ex-fiance&#233;, Roanne Jean Isidro Valenzuela, and myself, I made the enormous mistake of telling her about my life, trusting her to keep private things which were private, and to honor that which I valued.</p>
<p>One of the people from my past whom I told her about was a friend, a Chinese woman whom I have always admired, in addition to liking.  She was (and is) one of the smartest people I have ever known, a good person, and just good to know.</p>
<p>I further made the mistake of telling her name to <a href="http://www.filipinonurses2us.com/filipino_nurses_2_us/NLE062007.txt">Roanne</a>.</p>
<p>After she <a href="http://ianhamet.wordpress.com/2008/10/14/a-note/">falsely accused me of statutory rape</a>, and had that blow up in her face, Roanne Valenzuela did not do what any rational and sane human being would do.  She did not back off and reexamine herself to determine what had driven her to make such a vile accusation.  Hell, she only apologized for form&#8217;s sake, and immediately recanted her apology, saying it meant nothing, she didn&#8217;t mean it, and she only made it because she &#8220;had to&#8221;.  </p>
<p>Instead of trying to become a better person, she simply chose a different target to attack.  </p>
<p>She found this lady&#8217;s Chinese blog, and started leaving racist filth in the comments.  She did this because I had expressed a positive opinion about this woman, and because she is a nihilist, only truly happy when causing people better than her pain.  </p>

<p>None of this had any effect on the lady in question, because she is not insecure in any way.  She found it, in fact, sadly amusing. </p>
<p>Proving that Miss Valenzuela is not only a racist, but indeed a nihilist, she responded to this by lamenting that, since she couldn&#8217;t make her target feel bad, her verbal assaults were &#8220;for nothing&#8221; and she was a failure.  Here is what she said in an <acronym title="Instant Messaging">IM</acronym> chat on 1 November 2008 (emphases added, slight re-arrangement of lines to make clearer which lines were in answer to which):</p>

<strong>Roanne</strong>: About what?<br />
<strong>Me</strong>: She said she was baffled, but not offended.  She couldn&#8217;t figure why someone would bother.<br />
<strong>Me</strong>: She didn&#8217;t say, but she said it after I told her it was you, and gave her the general idea of why.<br />
<strong>Roanne</strong>: <em>I&#8217;m a failure.</em><br />
<strong>Me</strong>: So I guess she meant you were passionate about me.<br />
<strong>Roanne</strong>: Man.<br />
<strong>Roanne</strong>: Maaan.<br />
<strong>Roanne</strong>: <em>All that for nothing.</em><br />
<strong>Me</strong>: It&#8217;s just that she&#8217;s too secure a person to have an anonymous troll affect her.<br />

<p>Yes, she did say that there was &#8220;no way&#8221; the woman she told to hang herself in a shower and die was nicer than her.</p>
<p>Not content to restrict her bilious hate to one person, she also posted this as her Twitter bio:</p>

<p>She was so proud of this that she left it intact for more than a week.</p>
<p>This post has been in draft form for some time.  At one point, I did tell her about it, warning that if she continued being abusive, I would post it.  And she gave explicit permission to publish it.  From a chat on 6 December 2008:</p>

<p>Yes, she&#8217;s proud of spewing vicious hate and racist filth, trying to berate a complete stranger into suicide.  And she said so directly and explicitly.</p>
<p>Now that she is fraudulently creating web accounts in my name and leaving racist trash in various places, pretending to be me, I&#8217;m making very clear that this is her kind of behavior, not mine.  </p>
<p>So, if you are considering hiring Miss Valenzuela, especially in the United States, take into consideration that she is an unrepentant racist, a bigot, and someone who will attack innocent strangers in the most vicious ways just to vent her frustrations.  </p>
<p>On top of that, she has demonstrated that she will erase, delete, or alter the public record (if she can) the moment her viciousness is exposed, because her greatest fear is not what she is, but simply &#8220;looking bad&#8221; to others.  She will lie without compunction or shame to cover up her bad acts.</p>
<p>Is this really the kind of nurse you want caring for your patients?</p>
<p>UPDATE:  Yes, I have removed links.  Not, as Miss Valenzuela asserts, out of cowardice, but because I will not help her in her campaign to smear me with lies, distortions, and severely misleading out-of-context facts.  She has proven, yet again, that she has no respect for the truth, and I simply removed what little sanction my links gave to her vendetta.  </p>
<p>Furthermore, she claims that what she posted was a &#8220;defense&#8221; of herself.  She made no effort to defend what she did or what she said, she merely attacked me.  <i><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem">Argumentum ad Hominem</a></i> is not a defense it is a fallacy.</p>

<p style="text-align:center;"><strong>L&#8217;errance dans la littérature américaine</strong></p>
<p style="margin-bottom:0;line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"><span style="background:transparent;">La route, les routes &#8230; Tant d&#8217;asphalte parcouru, de poussière soulevée, tant de vies croisées, entrevues, rencontrées. Des Joad de Steinbeck, aux survivants de McCarthy, en passant par les « clochards célestes » de la </span><em><span style="background:transparent;">beat generation</span></em><span style="background:transparent;">, la littérature américaine ne cesse de choyer ses vagabonds mystiques, mythiques figures de l&#8217;errance, Sisyphes des grands espaces, personnages aspirés, avalés par cette route poussiéreuse qui n&#8217;en finit pas de se dérouler.</span></p>
<p style="margin-bottom:0;line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"><span style="background:transparent;"> C’est donc par la route, que François Podetti (comédien, metteur en scène) et Jérôme Bodon-Clair (compositeur, musicologue) ont choisis de remonter un siècle de littérature américaine, de New-York à Chicago, de Boston à la cité des anges, s&#8217;égarant dans les œuvres de Jack London, Jack Kerouac ou Cormac McCarthy. Et c’est dans la musique, compagne naturelle de l’errance, que les textes trouveront l’écho légitime de leur amertume. Une soirée découverte donc, en partance pour cet ailleurs volontiers vaporeux, les limbes promises ou fantasmées, à portée de roues, au bout de la route &#8230;</span></p>

<p>My relationship with my former fiancee is now ended and all ties have been cut.  This would normally be a private matter, except that she has exhibited such contempt in the past for even the most basic forms of ethics and morality that I must now preempt the very likely event that she will continue her ways.</p>
<p>My name is Ian Michael Hamet, and if you get a message from me that seems off or odd or in some way not right, there is a good chance that it is not from me.</p>
<p>There are a few ways of ensuring that it really is from me.  The easiest is to check to see that it is signed with my PGP key, available at the bottom of this post and on my Contact page.  If it is not signed (which happens when I send from web mail most of the time), then reply and ask for me to verify with a signed response.</p>
<p>Further, if you see my name on some web service or other, check it against <a href="http://claimid.com/ianhamet">my ClaimID page</a>.  If it&#8217;s not there, then it&#8217;s not mine (excepting some dating profiles, at the moment), and treat anything said in my name as being fraudulent.</p>
<p>Roanne Valenzuela has demonstrated, repeatedly, that she is not above forging web accounts and profiles in order to slander and defame individuals &#8212; not just myself, she has done it to others as well.</p>
<p>She has also demonstrated that there is no lie she will not tell to achieve her ends, even if that end is simply causing the most minor frustration to her &#8220;enemy&#8221;.  She has, for instance, accused me of &#8220;impersonating&#8221; her &#8220;husband&#8221; on Flickr in order to get other Flickr users to block me.  (She has never been married, and I present myself under my actual name on Flickr.)  I posted this information on my profile to forestall future lies about me, and she now claims that I am &#8220;attacking&#8221; her by telling the truth about her actions.  In my judgment, if she did not wish to &#8220;look bad&#8221;, she should not have done things which would cast her in such a light.</p>
<p>This is on top of last autumn&#8217;s melodrama, in which <a href="http://ianhamet.wordpress.com/2008/10/14/a-note/">she falsely accused me of statutory rape</a>, for no reason other than she wanted to &#8220;get back&#8221; at me.</p>
<p>So, any accusation directed at me must be treated with suspicion, as it may very well be her making the accusation under an assumed identity on the internet.  Any accusation she makes directly should be treated as a lie or, at the very best, a statement that has only the most tendentious, tortured, and distant relationship with reality.  Even if some statement she makes is, strictly speaking, true, she has no compunction about using fact to give completely false impressions.</p>
<p>When I make a mistake, I own it &#8212; as shown when <a href="http://ianhamet.wordpress.com/2005/05/a-challenge/">I inadvertently plagiarized J. Neil Schulman</a>, admitted it immediately when I realized it, offered to do any blog post he asked as penance, and then <a href="http://ianhamet.wordpress.com/2005/11/escape-from-heaven-by-j-neil-schulman-2002/">did so</a>.</p>
<p>I am not afraid of my mistakes, but I will not tolerate slander or libel.  Roanne Valenzuela is above neither, and has demonstrated it repeatedly.  The fact that she keeps erasing her past postings from the internet only further proves that not only does she do such things, she knows them to be wrong.  She makes the error of thinking that if the evidence is erased, the damage &#8220;undone&#8221;, then she has then done nothing wrong.</p>
<p>Whatever.</p>
<p>Anything that is said about me, especially if it seems like tabloid material, please do not accept without at least checking with me first and letting me know.</p>

Un beau texte, d&#8217;une richesse inédite, servi par une mise en scène d&#8217;une intelligence rare, des comédiens transcendés et un théâtre plein, réceptif, à l&#8217;écoute, connecté &#8230; Que rêver de mieux pour cette belle expérience, dont je suis assez fier d&#8217;avoir conçu l&#8217;ambiance sonore, parfois musicale &#8230;</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Petit post pour signaler qu&#8217;une nouvelle fournée de répétitions pour <em>Le rire du limule</em> de Christian Chavassieux, pièce donc je fais l&#8217;ambiance, l&#8217;habillage sonore, a lieu cette semaine. J&#8217;ai donc assisté hier au travail sur deux scènes &#8230; Très bonne lecture de François Podetti et les comédiens ne sont pas en reste. Un beau projet qui se profile donc. J&#8217;irai butiner dans la semaine à plusieurs reprises en répétition pour m&#8217;inspirer, découvrir progressivement la mise en scène &#8230; </p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>C&#8217;est avec une joie peu contenue que je m&#8217;attelle à un nouveau projet de mise en son d&#8217;une pièce théâtrale. En effet, je vais réaliser, composer la musique, l&#8217;ambiance sonore de la pièce de Christian Chavassieux, Le rire du limule. Texte fort, prégnant, audacieux, tout cela inspire beaucoup et les premières idées fusent.<br />
Après une prise de contact avec François Podetti, le metteur en scène de la pièce, nous avons procédé à une première réunion de travail pleine de possibles. La pièce sera donné au TMR (Théâtre Municipal de Roanne) en avril 2009. C&#8217;est donc plein d&#8217;entrain, plein d&#8217;envie et d&#8217;idées que je me lance dans ce nouveau projet (à noter que mon acolyte Benoît Bel sera avec moi en studio pour effectuer un travail des plus soignés).<br />

Les Roannais ont mis fin à leurs pertes de balles à répétition et su alterner intérieur et extérieur, grâce à Mohamed Koné, parfait suppléant des blessés et meilleur rebondeur du match (8 rbds, 13 pts à 5/9).<br />
Et pour être sûr de ne pas rester dans l&#8217;ombre de Harper, son seul contre a été monumental : un sctoch sur un dunk de Tony Skinn (13 pts à 5/15, 8 passes).</p>

Peindre un ballon de rugby, en faire une oeuvre &#8230; ensuite, vente des oeuvres aux enchères hier soir donc &#8230; Tout a été vendu donc et tout cela au profit du club de rugby de Roanne. Une participation assez inédite, un peu étrange de mélanger eau, thérébentine sur cette matière plastique qui composait le ballon &#8230; Voila donc en matière le descriptif de ma livraison dénomméer &#8220;Trajectoires usées&#8221; :</p>
<p> </p>
<p align="JUSTIFY">Concevoir le ballon comme organique, revêtu d&#8217;une écorce, de celles qui protègent, de celles qui absorbent. Percevoir cette peau craquelée, usitée, cette peau usée. Ici pas d&#8217;écailles, mais plutôt, comme des varices inversées, des stries, des centaines de petits canaux, à force d&#8217;érosion. Autant de traits gravés comme autant de trajectoires, ces directions hasardeuses parfois inspirées, que prennent, qu&#8217;empruntent les ballons, et qui s&#8217;amoncellent, s&#8217;accumulent selon, se compilent donc de 80 minutes en 80 minutes. Sentir peau contre peau, effleurer le galbe de ces trajectoires usées &#8230; Quant au bleu, n&#8217;y voir que peu de chauvinisme, y voir un petit klein d&#8217;œil, sans plus.</p>

<p>For a small, small taste of what I have been putting up with privately, Herself, whose real name is Roanne Jean Isidro Valenzuela, publicly (and falsely) accused me of statutory rape (link removed, she has since deleted the post, but it was public; I duplicate it here to defend myself, as well as to expose just how out of proportion her treatment of me is as measured against the mistake I made):</p>

<p>I initially rebutted her on that post, but she is a huge fan of <a href="http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9A03E5DF1731F934A15753C1A961958260">Soviet revisionism</a>, altering text and inventing facts to suit whatever her mood happens to be; so I shall post my response here, where she cannot change it. ((Since writing this paragraph, she has sent the entire post down <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_hole">the memory hole</a>.  The first thing she did was to alter my rebuttal to a false admission made in my name. ))</p>
<p>The age of consent in the state where it occurred, Michigan, as well as most other states in the US, is 16.  Therefore, whatever occurred was not statutory.  Herself knows this, but doesn&#8217;t care.</p>
<p>The young lady was perhaps a month shy of her 18th birthday when I was briefly involved with her.  Herself may or may not know that, but wouldn&#8217;t care.</p>
<p>No intercourse occurred.  So whatever happened, it could not possibly be characterized as rape.  Herself knows this (though she tried hard to ignore it), but does not care.</p>
<p>Thus, the charge is without any basis in fact, and she knows it.  Nevertheless, she will not remove it, she will not admit that she is wrong, and she will never, ever apologize.</p>
<p>The racist epithet is nothing new from her, either, as evidenced by her <a href="http://ianhamet.wordpress.com/2008/10/i-bury-the-living-1958/#comment-52599">lovely recent comment on this blog</a>:</p>
<blockquote><p>Oh, I’d be the happiest bitch on earth if you wrote that fugly gook that email. YOU just don’t want me to be happy, plain and simple. And what do you know what makes me happy? I probably lied about it, rightright.</p></blockquote>
<p>She excoriated me for approving that comment but not another made at about the same time, but I have warned her several times.  I disapprove of using public blog comments for private messages, and she keeps trying them anyway.  The other comment was also sent as an email.  Since that one was sent properly, i.e. privately, I simply deleted the comment.  But, since the above comment was only made as a comment, I called her bluff and made it public.  She unleashed more fury on me for it, saying it was entirely my fault, and that I was trying to make her look bad.  Since I didn&#8217;t write the thing, and have approved it unaltered, I leave the matter of who is responsible for making her look bad as an exercise for the reader.</p>
<p>Here is the email she&#8217;s talking about, as demanded in a chat from May 2007:</p>

<p>(&#8220;Hocheese&#8221; is a word that Herself apparently invented, meant to suggest &#8220;whore&#8221; and simply be offensive and cruel.)</p>
<p>Herself does have some legitimate reason for anger, but only at me.  I maintained a correspondence with the lady for a few months, unknown to Herself and against her wishes.  While I had my reasons, I was wrong to do so.  I ended the correspondence on my own &#8212; which, for some reason, is cause for even more anger ((This is a point which makes no sense to me &#8212; if she is angry that I made the mistake, which is what she maintains, then shouldn&#8217;t the fact that I ended the mistake of my own free will, without coercion of any kind, lessen the error, or alleviate it to some extent?  It does not, she hates me even more for it, and I cannot fathom why. )) &#8212; before Herself ever knew of it.  And once she did know, I apologized, fully and completely.  The kind of apology that starts with &#8220;I was wrong&#8221;, not the phony &#8220;I&#8217;m sorry you are too stupid to have understood what I really meant&#8221; kind.  The other lady was in no way responsible for my actions, and what happened was entirely my fault.</p>
<p>(Contrary to Herself&#8217;s <a href="http://twitter.com/rogasm/statuses/959934893">assertions</a> ((In case she engages in more Soviet revisionism, here is the content of that Twit:<br />

<p> )), the reason I did not previously relate the above story was not to keep myself from looking bad, it was because the matter was <strong>private</strong>, and thus I did not discuss it publicly.  She refuses to understand or acknowledge that there is anything that should be kept private.  Except, of course, when I approve intemperate comments she has made on a public forum. A secondary reason was to keep <em>her</em> from looking bad.  Now that she has forced the issue, I have related the essentials of the wrong I did, and she is proven wrong once again.)</p>
<p>I refused to write any such email, of course.  She maintains that this &#8220;proves&#8221; that I put this other lady (with whom I have had no contact in about a year and a half) above Herself.</p>
<p>What it actually demonstrates is that I have principles and adhere to them.  One such principle is that I do not use racist epithets, for reasons that I should think are obvious.  Another is that I do not hurt people unless necessary, or that person has done something to earn it. ((And even then, I have a rather long history of taking more pain on myself than I pass on, something that she knows very well, but will not admit, because it might make me look good. ))  Appeasing Herself&#8217;s irrational whims is not necessary in any sense of the word, and the individual she wants me to hurt has done nothing to deserve it.</p>
<p>From anyone else in the world, the mere use of a word like &#8220;chink&#8221; would end my friendship with her.</p>
<p>In Herself&#8217;s case, I do my best to take such emotional outbursts in stride, and rebuke them gently when I think she is open to hearing it, because she grew up in an emotionally abusive environment, and simply does not know any other way to deal with her pain and anger.</p>
<p>However, publicly accusing me of a crime, with full knowledge that the accusation is false, is out of bounds.  There is no excuse for such irresponsible and slanderous remarks.  So I am exposing her just as publicly as she made the accusation, in a forum where she cannot delete or alter what has been said.</p>
<p>This is, again, a mere taste of what she has been subjecting me to directly and privately.  In the past, she would have a bad week or two, and then behave as a responsible adult for weeks or even months before reverting back to this sort of thing.  This time it has been more or less constant &#8212; pure hostility and venom from the very beginning of September to this moment, without relief.</p>
<p>When I maintain that she will say anything at all in order to hurt me, I am not exaggerating.  Truth and reality are of no import to her, only her feelings, no matter how wrong they lead her.</p>
<p>Yes, I should probably leave her.</p>
<p>But I won&#8217;t.</p>
<p>First, I don&#8217;t think any other man on the planet could tolerate her through even one of these emotional pyrotechnic displays.  She very clearly needs help, and how can she get it if someone won&#8217;t weather her at her worst?  Since I love her, and can tolerate it (though not without protest), I abide.</p>
<p>And, perhaps pettily, she has been trying to manipulate me into leaving her, and I won&#8217;t give her that satisfaction.  She keeps declaring that she&#8217;d be happier if I left her, but she won&#8217;t do it herself, for whatever reason.</p>
<p>In any event, she has gone so far out of bounds in the baseless and slanderous accusation, that I now demand, publicly, that she make a full and complete apology for her words, without any attempt to shift blame to anyone other than the person who wrote them and posted them for all the internet to see.</p>
<p>As she never apologizes, and certainly never in the honorable and complete fashion I require, I imagine that I have a long wait ahead.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Quelle ne fut pas ma surprise ce jour , au retour d&#8217;un tournoi de foot à 7 maitrisé de main de maitre , de voir la couverture médiatique exceptionnelle réservée par Canal + à la finale du championnat de France. On se serait cru aux grandes heures des duels entre le CSP Limoges et l&#8217;Elan Béarnais ou l&#8217; Asvel du milieu des 90&#8217;s. Le basket est définitivement un sport télégénique et en plus lorsqu&#8217;il est raconté par les excellents David Cozette et Jacques Monclar c&#8217;est du pur bonheur pour les téléspectateurs. A quand Cozette à la place du pathétique Josse ? Le seul hic de la rencontre fut le non suspense. Les Poulidors du Basket le Sluc Nancy ont enfin réussi à vaincre le signe indien en atomisant des Roannais étonnament &#8220;en-dedans&#8221; sous les yeux de Tony Parker et de la sublime Eva Longoria. Jean Luc Monschau au bout de 78 ans de coaching en Pro A peut enfin s&#8217;enorgueillir d&#8217;avoir conquis le Graal. Greg c&#8217;est ton tour !</p>
<p>Il est à noter que plus tard dans la soirée en venant à bout de Poitiers (76-63) en finale du championnat de France de Pro B, Besançon s&#8217;est offert son billet pour la Pro A et évoluera donc la saison prochaine à l&#8217;étage supérieur. Une petite pensée pour la supporter n° 1 des poitevins la sus-dénommée Anne qui &#8211; n&#8217;en doutons pas &#8211; se lèvera demain matin une fois n&#8217;est pas coutume avec une vilaine amertume aux entournures !</p>
<p>Claude Bergeaud sera le successeur de Pierre Seillant en tant que directeur du club de Pau-Orthez. L&#8217;ancien entraineur Palois et de l&#8217;équipe de France , fier Ariégeois , a accepté la délicate succession.  <em>&#8220;Le problème du capital étant en passe d&#8217;être résolu dans les heures qui viennent, il appartient désormais à toutes les forces du club, autour de Claude, de mettre en oeuvre le projet sportif&#8221;</em> a declaré Alain Béral. Le président a affirmé sa toute confiance envers le nouveau technicien en ajoutant: <em>&#8220;le projet que porte d&#8217;ores et déjà Claude Bergeaud tient la route&#8221;.</em> Quel meilleur choix que notre Claude Bergeotti national pour remplacer l&#8217;ultra charismatique Pierre Seillant  pourfendeur préféré du Limoges CSP.</p>

<p><span style="color:#000000;">Aucun intrus à signaler dans ce dernier carré d&#8217;as qui confirme les rapports de force de la phase régulière et place Le Mans et Nancy en favoris de leurs demi-finales en raison de l&#8217;avantage du terrain en cas de belle éventuelle.</span></p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;">Au-delà de l&#8217;enjeu du titre, la deuxième place en Euroligue la saison prochaine constitue un deuxième objectif fort. Le Mans est qualifié d&#8217;office grâce à sa garantie de trois ans. Le tenant du titre Roanne et Villeurbanne doivent, eux, devenir champion de France pour décrocher un bail d&#8217;un an. Les Manceaux seront dans les mêmes dispositions d&#8217;esprit qu&#8217;en quart de finale contre Cholet. &#8220;Il faudra mettre la même intensité, souligne l&#8217;entraîneur Vincent Collet. La défense sera essentielle, mais il ne faudra pas non plus négliger l&#8217;attaque devant un adversaire qui marque beaucoup de points. Encore plus de facilité pour Nancy, qui a laminé Vichy (81-43). Suite de ces quarts allers mercredi avec Le Mans-Cholet et Asvel-Hyères-Toulon.</span></p>

<p><span style="color:#000000;">C&#8217;est à Roanne qu&#8217;on attendait le plus de suspense entre le quatrième et le cinquième (les deux formations avaient dû attendre la dernière journée pour être fixées sur leur sort). De suspense, il n&#8217;y en a pas vraiment eu, la Chorale ayant toujours fait la course en tête. Avant le match, interrogé sur l&#8217;antenne de Sport +, l&#8217;avisé coach normand Christian Monschau avait prévenu: pour espérer contrarier Roanne, &#8220;l&#8217;équipe qui a perdu le moins de matches en deux saisons dans sa salle&#8221; (seul Le Mans a gagné cette saison dans la Halle André-Vacheresse), ses joueurs allaient devoir livrer un gros combat sous leur panier: &#8220;Quand on défend bien, on peut développer notre jeu.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;">En voyant dans la bataille pour le rebond la clé de la rencontre, Monschau avait vu juste, mais malheureusement pour lui, son équipe, il est vrai amoindrie par des maladies et blessures, ne l&#8217;a pas entendue, laminée pendant 40 minutes sous les paniers, avec au final un terrible 49-20 dans le domaine en faveur de la Chorale. Thompson), mais également à leur incapacité à prendre le dessus au rebond. Dans ces conditions, l&#8217;écart final (94-72) est presque heureux pour l&#8217;équipe normande qui, au coup de sifflet final, avait déjà oublié ce match, focalisée sur le retour dans sa salle des Docks Océane. &#8220;On n&#8217;a pas réussi à contrôler le rebond offensif et on a pris trop de paniers en contre-attaque, mais on a une bonne revanche à prendre, on va les attendre à la maison&#8221;, promettait Fabien Causeur, meilleur marqueur havrais du match (17 points), au micro de Sport +. Du côté des vainqueurs, Laurent Cazalon adoptait un profil bas de circonstance, appelant ses coéquipiers à la plus grande vigilance en vue du retour: &#8220;J&#8217;ai peur qu&#8217;on soit trop relâchés vendredi, ce ne sera pas le même match&#8221;. Dans ces conditions, le Sluc n&#8217;a pas eu à forcer son talent, Jean-Luc Monschau a pu en outre profiter du net avantage pris par les siens pour faire tourner en seconde période, de quoi débarquer vendredi pour le retour à Vichy frais et dispos&#8230;</span></p>

<p><span style="color:#000000;">Le Mans, assuré depuis une semaine de la première place et de l&#8217;avantage du terrain jusqu&#8217;en finale, a terminé la saison sur une bonne note en dominant Dijon (93-84) en ouvrant largement son banc. Les Manceaux sont suivis au classement par Nancy, qui n&#8217;a pas dérapé à domicile face à des Clermontais (88-67) démobilisés depuis longtemps, pour finir dans le Top 2 pour la troisième année d&#8217;affilée. Du coup, Villeurbanne, facile vainqueur de Strasbourg (86-59), reste scotché à la troisième place qui lui offre l&#8217;avantage du terrain en quarts mais pas en demi-finales. Roanne se contentera de cette perspective en terminant quatrième, sachant que la défaite du Havre a rendu anecdotique la victoire du champion en titre sur Pau-Orthez (83-77).<!--more--></span></p>

<p><span style="color:#000000;">La défaite à domicile du Havre face à Hyères-Toulon (85-83) permet aux Varois, portés par un duo Nichols-Williams percutant (43 points à eux deux), de conserver la sixième place devant Vichy, vainqueur de Chalon-sur-Saône (85-79), et Cholet, surpris à domicile par le Paris-Levallois (77-74). La dernière journée n&#8217;aura donc strictement rien changé dans les huit premiers au classement et les quarts de finale proposeront ainsi un derby alléchant entre Le Mans et Cholet. Les trois autres quarts opposeront Nancy à Vichy, l&#8217;Asvel à Hyères-Toulon et </span><a href="http://www.annoncesavec.com/67_Roanne/"><span style="color:#000000;">Roanne</span></a><span style="color:#000000;"> au Havre.</span></p>

La pilule est amère pour le Paris-Levallois, deuxième budget de France, qui quitte l&#8217;élite pour la première fois depuis sa montée en première division en 1986.</span></p>
