http://www.shareapic.net/View-17823910-Chester-Collection–Public-Appearances.html Look at that

http://www.shareapic.net/View-17823910-Chester-Collection–Public-Appearances.html

Look at that piture and tell me who’s missing.

Give up?

Phoenix! Sweet, kind, Phoenix!

Now to critque them (I’m still off my tea, so…)

Mike: He looks pretty good in that hat and outfit. Almost makes you forget that he’s a TRAITOR! No, seriously, the grays suit him nicely. He doesn’t look a day over 30.

Joe: He gained weight again*sigh* and he was looking so good too. Not digging the outfit, but eh, that’s what I appreciate about Joe. His simplicty in style doesn’t scream “Sell out!”

Brad: What’s with the church boy act? He’s got his hands all folded and he’s standing prim and proper. Beard gone, Jewfro back. He looks like a fucking hobbit. Yes, a Jewish hobbit. Don’t question me as he attempts to mimic Bret McKenzie, the New Zealander hobbit!

Chester: Looks the same as he always has for the past…three years? He looks young, but like he’s pushing forty. I mean, he just LOOKS like he’s getting older, but trying to cling desperately to looking like he’s still 20. Not digging the manpurse/satchel/whatever the fuck that thing is, because it throws off his outfit. BUT his boots are fly.

Rob: Lost the weight again. Hmm…yummy Rob. Not so cuddly now but I’m still content with being chained up by him. The hair looks scraggly and he looks like he’s been hanging out with the “wrong crowd.” His hair is untamed, but his clothes are nice. Like Dave Grohl…or (dare I say it?) Kurt Cobain. *gasp*

So am I going to see Transformers? Only if someone pays for me.

Oh, but my bf/hubby/ex is coming back in town in July and he will give me his old LP shirt that is a) old from when his dad saw them live in HT days and b) waaaaay too big for me. I am okay with this though, because he smells good and I LOVE wearing big shirts. My dad’s neighbor’s son gave me his Crow movie shirt. It was that or the Addams Family and I chose the most badass looking shirt possible XD I’ve cut the sleeves and I’m going to re-stitch it to fit me better.

But it’ll still long

So Linkin Park will never return to their old sound until they return to their roots and looks. This means…

Send Rob and Brad to synagogue (and cut their hair and grow their beards)

Send Mike to San Fernando valley and grow his hair and dye it…red.

Rape Chester in the ass and dye his hair blonde. Also, shoot him up with meth and coke.

Make Phoenix grow his hair past his ears

Put Hahn on a diet

Tell all the old fans that now are too old to be affected by their new music that Linkin Park is going on a hiatus and when they come back, they’ll be new men again.

That’s how you do it. They should take my word. Oh, and I only did this just for the hell of it. I’m not a judger of looks, otherwise, I’d say Phoenix is a terrible bass player cause he’s ugly. No, he’s a terrible bass player cause he IS (which is a lie, he’s pretty great ).

So I’ve been ragging on LP lately, but this video…

Wow. More money by selling out means Mr. Hahn can produce a video like this. We’ve got circular, rotating platforms, crazy transformations and transitions, computer effects out the ass, and jerking. No, not jerking off (although that’d make them more money, an LP sex tape), but the guys are strapped up and jerked around…while playing instruments. [See video here]

Um, excuse me?

WTF am I watching? A bad LSD trip? No seriously, that’s what it looks like. But it’s crazy enough to work. I’ll listen to the song and see the movie…because of this video. That’s worse than last year’s, “I’ll see the movie because of this song/band.” Seriously. All the colors and effects…I at one point questioned if my computer monitor was acting up because of the transition from CGI-band to Transformers clips. And don’t forget the scene where that chick from the movie is running next to Shia and all you see is her boobs bouncing around. Maybe I’m a perv (I am), maybe I like girls (I do), but that’s all I noticed. ALL. She’s not even that hot, sorry, but no.

I might get accustomed to the song the more I get used to it, but the video being as trippy (and the making of being as funny) will help. I’m not as angry anymore…but I’m not buying their new album.

Unless I see Mike Shinoda shirtless!

So…I enjoyed watching this (and the making of). I encourage you to to watch them yourself. [Video] Chaz or someone should cameo in the film. I’d laugh out loud in theaters if I saw them, even if it wasn’t a funny scene (what? Chaz did Crank!).

Also to note:

Brad shaved his fave (not the Jewfro though).

Dave/Phoenix grew out his hair and it looks good! He’s looking attractive for the first time since Hybrid Theory EP and the mohawk!

Rob’s hair is longer and he’s getting chubby.

Chester doesn’t look so much like a crack addict anymore. Just a smoker. OH WAIT HE IS.

Mike…*sigh*

Hahn’s losing weight. I guess it’s going to Rob.

So. New Linkin Park song. Fancy that.

New Divide

Lyrically, it’s pretty much the exact same Linkin Park we’ve heard since 2000; they’re feeling angry and isolated. Musically, it’s basically What I’ve Done, except with a fleeting attempt to be heavier and, amazingly, moodier. Really. It’s got the exact same soft, crooning verse and “heavy” chorus, complete with Mike “whoa”-ing in some backing vocals. The only difference is that vaguely mechanical guitar solo in the middle, presumably to feel more Transformers-y (the scientific term for it), simultaneously breathing the song’s only life into it and feeling tacked on.

I find it interesting they called this song “New Divide” (if you couldn’t tell based on the post’s title), given Linkin Park’s very own new divide in its fan base after the huge departure in its musical style that was Minutes to Midnight, where they all but abandoned the rap-rock for, well, just normal rock, I suppose. I personally liked Minutes to Midnight, although I don’t think it had very many of their best songs on it, but it was their best attempt at an album that could try to get them some critical merit. On the other hand, if you didn’t like their new style, you’re probably not going to like this new song, since it’s right up their last album’s alley, and even if you did like it, you probably won’t be too crazy about it, because it probably would have been a b-side. Of course, Linkin Park is more of a guilty pleasure than an actual favorite band for me, so it’s entirely possible I’m not the most unbiased judge, but then again, you’re not here for that anyway.

Know Your Enemy

I haven’t had a chance to listen to 21st Century Breakdown yet, and that’s partly because I just about stopped caring after hearing the song they chose for their first single. This song is terrible (in so many words). It’s basically the same riff for 3-4 minutes, with the same five words making up maybe 4/5 of the song. It’s a let down, especially for a first single following American Idiot, which I still maintain was brilliant, even if it was far overplayed on the radio (hence, the benefits of never listening to the radio!). I keep hearing about how ambitious and comparably brilliant 21st Century Breakdown is to American Idiot, and I can’t really make an informed say in either direction, but based on this song, I’d be amazed if that were the case.

Shut Up, I Am Dreaming Of Places Where Lovers Have Wings

Well, this isn’t a new song or anything, but it’s an awesome song you should listen to. It reminds me of Radiohead’s “Paranoid Android”, and watch how that lamp totally looks like it’s going to fall off, but doesn’t! Crazy!

It achieved mainstream success with its debut album, Hybrid Theory, which was certified Diamond by the RIAA in 2005. Its following studio album, Meteora, continued the band’s success, topping the Billboard 200’s album charts in 2003, and was followed by extensive touring and charity work around the world. In 2003, MTV2 named Linkin Park the sixth greatest band of the music video era.

I was checking mikeshinoda.com ( He’s in Linkin Park ), and it looks that he got his hand on Protools 8. The amazing thing is that he showed some of it’s feature and actually made an instrumental with it. Rob Bourdon(the band’s drummer) participated in it.

since their formation in 1996 the band has sold over 50 million albums and won two grammy awards. linkin park is well known for its adaptation of the nu metal and rap rock genres into their own unique style that can be heard in their first two albums: hybrid theory and meteora. the six man band conists of the following members listed below with their individual roles:

chester bennington – vocals

rob bourdon – drums, percussion

brad delson – lead guitar

dave “phoenix” farrell – bass guitar, backing vocals

joe hahn – turnables, programming, sampling

mike shinoda – emcee, ocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards

hybrid theory

their first album, hybrid theory, was released in the year 2000. this album was well received by fans and is considered one of the best rap rock alternative bands ’til date. hybrid theory was also nominated for three grammy awards, including best new artist, best rock album, and best hard rock performance (for their song crawling). winning the best rock video and best direction awards for in the end launched them into mainstream media.

reanimation

in 2002 reanimation, the band’s second album was released. reanimation consisted entirely of remix versions of their songs from hybrid theory and hybrid theory ep. this album featured black thought, jonathan davis, aaron lewis and a number of others. reanimation claimed the second spot on the billboard 200.

meteora

their next album, meteora, followed their previous nu metal and rapcore styles with numerous effects and the use of a wide range of ‘random’ instruments. once released on march 25th 2003, the album earned respect from all parts of the world. meteora hit #1 in the united kingdom and the states, and #2 in australia. linkin park was then invited by metallica to play at the ’summer sanitarium tour 2003′, which included well-known acts such as limp bizkit, mudvayne and deftones. linkin park won mtv awards for the best rock video (somewhere i belong) and the viewer’s choice award (breaking the habit).

collision course

in 2004, linkin park began to work with jay-z to produce another remix album, entitled collision course. this album featured lyrics from both artists’ previous music. the band, along with jay-z, performed on live 8’s stage for global audiences. they were once again reunited at the grammy award ceremony 2006 to perform numb/encore after winning a grammy for best rap/sung collaboration. they then went on to play at the ’summer sonic 2006′ music festival in japan, hosted by metallica.

minutes to midnight

linkin park returned to the recording studios for 14 months to work on their next album. their fourth album, minutes to midnight, was released on may 15th, 2008. once again linkin park’s music too the top spots on the billboard charts. the band also collaborated with busta rhymes (yeah, seriously) on his single we made it.

i think that all of linkin park’s music is quite awesome. all very different from each other, but very good. linkin park took a lot of crap on the release of minutes to midnight because fans said that their music had completely changed. in their defense, sure hybrid theory and meteora sound pretty heavy compared to minutes to midnight, but they too are different from each other. minutes to midnight has a metallic hip-hop feel. the songs focus on a variety of topics ranging from ex-girlfriends (oh, chester) to mike’s ’state-of-disbelief’ rap with a military feel to what a tool george w bush is (props).

Though limited in resources, the band began recording and producing songs within Shinoda’s make-shift bedroom studio in 1996.Tensions and frustration within the band grew after they failed to land a record deal. The lack of success and stalemate in progress prompted Wakefield, at that time the band’s vocalist, to leave the band in search for other projects. Farrell would also leave the band to tour with Tasty Snax and other bands.

After spending a considerable time searching for Wakefield’s replacement, Xero recruited Arizona vocalist Chester Bennington. Jeff Blue, the vice president of Zomba Music, had referred him to the band in March 1999.Bennington, formerly of Grey Daze, became a standout among applicants because of his unique singing style. The band changed their name from Xero to Hybrid Theory. The newborn vocal chemistry between Shinoda and Bennington helped revive the band, inciting them to work on new material. The band’s renaissance culminated with a change in name; from Hybrid Theory, the band changed their name to Linkin Park, a play on and homage to Santa Monica’s Lincoln Park. However, despite these changes, the band still struggled to sign a record deal. After facing numerous rejections from several major record labels, Linkin Park turned to Jeff Blue for additional help. After failing to catch Warner Bros. Records on three previous reviews, Jeff Blue, now the vice president of Warner Bros. Records, helped the band sign a deal with the company in 1999. The band released their breakthrough album, Hybrid Theory, the following year.

Style

Both Hybrid Theory and Meteora combined the nu metal and rap rock sound with influences and elements from hip-hop, alternative rock, and electronica, utilizing programming and synthesizers. William Ruhlmann from Allmusic regarded it as “a Johnny-come-lately to an already overdone musical style,”whereas Rolling Stone called “Breaking the Habit” “risky, beautiful art”.

In Minutes to Midnight the band experimented with their established sound and sees them drawing influences from a wider and more varied range of genres and styles, a process Los Angeles Times compares to a stage in U2’s work.In it, only two of the songs feature rapping. It also is their first studio album to feature guitar solos.

Linkin Park’s use of two separate vocalists has become a large part of their music. Chester Bennington is most known for using growling and screaming vocals common in various forms of metal, while also using more melodic singing, and has placed 46th in Hit Paraders list of “Heavy Metal’s All-Time Top 100 Vocalists”.

Mike Shinoda is the group’s MC, and does all of the rapping. Mike has also done all of the backing vocals live, and in their latest album, Minutes to Midnight, he sings lead vocals on “In Between”, “Hands Held High” and the B-side “No Roads Left”. Shinoda has also been placed in Hit Parader’s list of “Heavy Metal’s All-Time Top 100 Vocalists” at number 72.

In The End (Demo)

It starts with one
It multiplies till you can taste the sun
And burnt by the sky you try to take it from
And if it falls there’s no place to run
Crumbling down, It’s so unreal
They’re dealing you in to determine your end
And sending you back again to the places you’ve been
And bending your will till it breaks you within
And still they fill they’re eyes
With the twilight through the skylight
And the highlight’s on a frame of steel
See the brightness of your likeness
As I write this on a pad with the way I feel
Hear screaming in my dreaming
As it’s seeming that you played your part
Like your heartless take apart this in the darkness
But I know that I’ve

Chorus:
I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter

I’ve looked down the line and what’s there is not what ought to be
Held back from the battles they fought for me
Calling me to be part of their property
And now I see that I get no chance
I get no break, fakes and snakes quickly lead to mistakes
And as the tightrope within slowly starts to thin
I can only hope that they close they’re eyes
To the twilight through the skylight
And the highlight’s on a frame of steel
See the brightness of your likeness
As I write this on a pad with the way I feel
Hear screaming in my dreaming
As it’s seeming that you played your part
Like your heartless take apart this in the darkness
But I know that I’ve

Chorus

I’ve put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
And for all this
There’s only one thing you should know (3x)

I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter

20 Giugno 2008, mi trovo a Venezia a Parco San Giuliano.

No More Sorrow

Lying From You
Somewhere I Belong
Wake 2.0
Given Up
Papercut
Points Of Authority
In Pieces
Numb
Pushing Me Away
Breaking The Habit
Shadow Of The Day
Crawling
Leave Out All The Rest
What I’ve Done
In The End
Bleed It Out
Cure For The Itch
A Place For My Head
Faint
One Step Closer

Poco dopo Shinoda passò all’Art Center College of Design di Pasadena. All’università Delson divenne amico del bassista Dave Farrell, detto Phoenix. All’Art Center College of Design, Shinoda incontrò Joseph Hahn.

A Place For My Head”, intitolata “Esaul”.

A novembre uscì LPUnderground 2.0.

[modifica] Meteora, Live In Texas, Collision Course

Joseph Hahn girò a Praga i video per i singoli “Numb” e “From the Inside“.

Prima che uscisse come singolo “Breaking the Habit”, “Lying From You” era stato già mandato in sola trasmissione radiofonica.

Vi parteciparono nella prima fase Korn, Snoop Dogg, The Used, Less Than Jake, e poi Ghostface, Funeral for a Friend, M.O.P. e Downset.
