Men wearing robes. More of an abstract concept than anything. In movies sometimes, men wear robes when they’re getting ready for bed. Often, villains wear them while scheming with their henchmen inside of a mansion. In real life, I only see men’s robes if I stay in a really nice hotel or B&B- I usually am given the option to purchase one from the room for about 65 bucks. But I never drop the cash for it. As far as actually walking around the house in one, I haven’t yet had that privilege.

Though In 1984 I did have a Gizmo robe that I wore every night. But that was 25 years ago.

I do hold this romanticized idea of coming home from work, slipping into a burgundy robe with matching slippers, and to make sure I fit the whole stereotype, I would slick back my hair. I would keep a pipe in the pocket of my robe- not to smoke sweet smelling tobacco, but only to give a better “robes man” image to unexpected guests. A glass of wine would help the persona as well. Just poured from a cheap $8 bottle from Macaroni Grille- my unexpected guests from Connecticut wouldn’t know the difference by sight alone.

It would help if the first room my unexpected guests saw when they came over was a dim-lit “study” where a comprehensive library of classic English literature was on display, while also on my mahogany shelf were three immaculate model sailboats. And a bear skin rug. And something from Africa too, like a tribal shield. Not only am I sophisticated, but I am a world traveler.

Last night I was relaxing away, painting my nails and putting on some tan (work xmas party tonight, thought Id better get semi-presentable) and drinking a glass of Brown Brothers 2000 Cab Sav (good stuff!!)…. as the hours wore on I found myself tiring of watching Sex & The City so logged on to browse around a few of my favourite sites (mainly facebook, ebay, hotmail, forever21).

During a routine stop by at Forever 21, I was annoyed to see a whole bunch of new items – this annoyed me as I’d only placed an order 3 days ago. I didnt really intend to place another order but it just kind of happened that way (I totally blame the wine).  I was making up my cart, a fave thing I enjoy doing just browsing and seeing how much the items would come to when I realised this stuff was awesome and I pretty much had to buy it.  I only brought 3 things, as the shipping is kind of costly I did browse around hoping to find more but really 3 things was all I loved.

I was wrapt with these 3 things, especially the headband (it is in Diva for $17.99, I considered buying it for a split second the other day)

On another note, the Vintage coat I blogged about the other day arrived yesterday.  It was a total dissapointment. It was not at all a coat, more like an oversized shirt with buttons…. It should be illegal to post items for sale on eBay with only one picture, coz people like me created ideas in their heads of what they SHOULD look like and then are totally dissapointed.  If anyone wants to buy the coat Ill sell it for $20 and include free postage, if not – its either a return to the seller (which I doubt they will allow) or a repost on eBay. Its not ugly, its just not what I imagined. I hate when that happens.

Tonight is the work Xmas party, time to don my outfit from a few posts ago….. I havent even given in a trial yet – I tend to find that trials leave room for further contemplation and then end up changing the whole outfit, so Ive decided Ill give myself 10 minutes to get dressed before I have to go and then I cant change a thing, although I must remember that I did try that last year and I ended up arriving 20 minutes late to the party in a totally unhappy outfit that annoyed me all night, therefore degrading my mood completely. Meh, why do companies have work parties anyway – no one ever wants to go!

Voici déjà le dixième et dernier lundi de cette obsession chinoise autour du livre “Elegant china” (ISBN 4579109120). Merci à vous de m’avoir suivi jusque là!
Pour ma troisième robe, j’ai gardé mon coupon préféré : Floral drop de Joel Dewberry. Ce coton un peu épais ne permettait cependant pas de faire une pièce d’hiver et j’étais lassée des qipaos. Va pour ue joyeuse transgression du cahier des charges initial! Ce sera robe d’été plutôt que d’hiver et encolure goutte d’eau! Au final, cette robe a été bien plus facile à coudre que les deux précédentes, est finalement celle que je préfère et se trouve aussi être la plus économique des trois.  Que demander de plus? Vos commentaires peut être, en espérant avoir donné envie à certaines de passer des amples tuniques japonaises aux coupes asiatiques traditionnelles…

It’s been ten weeks already, playing with chinese style every monday thanks to the pattern book “Elegant china”(ISBN 4579109120) . Thank you so much for following me this far!

For this third dress, i used my favourite fabric : Floral drop by Joel Dewberry. This ctoton fabric is not warm enough for a winter garment. And after sewing two qipaos i really did not feel like  making a third one.  So i decided not to stick to  my initial projet (3 winter qipaos). This third dress is, as you can see, for the  summertime and i’ve  used a different pattern (from the same book). The dress was much easier  to sew and it’s probaby my favourite too. Add to that that it came out to be the cheapest dress and i guess i could not ask for much more. Well, maybe some comments from you on this dress ;o) To finish off, i really hope some of you took interest in this little  “japonese pattern book /traditional chinese dress making” experiment! Please, don’t be shy and let me know!

Last month when everyone was losing it for the super-sexy H&M collaboration with Jimmy Choo, I was counting down the days for the next designer pairing with the mega retailer to hit the racks.  The Sonia Rykiel Pour H&M collection is a retro sexy line of lingerie and accessories in satin, lace and velvet that sashays into select stores this Saturday, December 5. This is the first time that the designer collaborations have extended to the lingerie department and what a great way to start!

The Parisian chic collection from the famed French house includes panties, bustiers, bras, garters, robes and even rosette-topped kitten heels in shades of pink blush, black, deep purple and hot pink  that are all tres feminine. If you’re in the Toronto area, the  following stores will carry the collection: Eaton Centre, Bloor Street and Yorkdale. Once I’ve gotten my hands on this lingerie, it’ll be time to start counting down for the Spring 2010 Sonia Rykiel knitwear collaboration, which will be in select H&M stores on February 20.

Not one, but two movies are being made out of this nonsense? Oh, boy.

So, the news has come in that “Twilight: Breaking Dawn” is, in fact, going to be turned into a film.  We knew that yesterday.  What’s new is, now they’re saying it’s going to be two films.  Because you can’t contain that much bat-shiat craziness into one film, people: someone would get hurt.

Here’s a report on what execs over at Summit Pictures (who make the “Twilight” films) had to say about the situation:

“Summit execs would not comment, but multiple sources said the company wants to go the two-film route, which means reopening negotiations and securing approval from the author. It also means making new deals with a principal cast that is only locked up for four films. If “Breaking Dawn” becomes two pictures, all of the key cast members will get fat raises, and the three principals — Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner — could land paydays in the eight-figure range.

Summit hasn’t closed a deal for “The Gardener” (the film that Chris Weitz really wants to make next), probably because the film company wants Weitz to postpone it and work on “Breaking Dawn” instead. Can Weitz resist the chance to finish a global franchise he helped build, even though it will mean more time away from his family for a long shoot? That’s the question the helmer and his reps will weigh shortly. Though Summit hasn’t officially made Weitz an offer, sources said the job is his if he wants it. After bringing in “New Moon” at around $50 million and keeping the cast happy, he’s the logical choice. They would shoot the films back to back.”

So, there you have it : “Twilight: Breaking Dawn” is actually happening.  All that rough sex, werewolves-loving-babies, and C-section-by-vampire-teeth is coming to a theater near you.

Oh la la j’ai fait ma copieuse sur Shaminista une autre fille in love with dress, j’ai adoré sa tenue et j’ai eu un coup de coeur pour les collants qu’elle portait alors je lui ai dit que j’allais copier. J’ai porté les collants à pois avec un robe, un gilet et des chaussures totalement noir une fois et les collants ont apporté un petit coup de fun à la tenue.  Mon petit génie lui a totalement adhéré et a baptisé ce style hostile bling bling parce que de loin il a cru que c’était des faux diamants lol

Oups I made my substantial on Shaminista another girl in love with dress, I liked her last outfit and I had a favorite for the tights which she wore then I said to her that I was going to copy. I wore tights with pea with one dress, a vest and shoes totally black once and tights brought a small blow of fun to this outfit. My small genius totally adhered to this outfit and baptized this hostile bling bling style because by far he believed that it was fake diamonds lol
