Cannot believe I haven’t shared my thoughts on New Moon! Damn real life gets in the way of all my fun! LOL

So, met Kelly (friend from HS and college who I haven’t seen in about 11 years!) for the 9:40am show on 11/20. Also saw Tanya, Colleen, Sherri, Iliana (think I butchered her name!), and others…they had a huge group! Anyway, the movie. Haven’t ever EVER been so excited for a movie! Had you noticed I was fired up? Btw, I was wearing a CUTE New Moon shirt! (Why can’t I figure out how to make this image larger?? sigh) Not to be a bitch but this shirt looks way cuter on me

Very subtle. Long sleeved black tee with the clock tower from the Volterra reunion scene. Wore it to NY. Ashley was horrified that I was wearing a New Moon shirt! LOL Not ‘NY cool’ at.all. >;-)

Naturally, I loved New Moon. I laughed, I cried. I thought Kristen Stewart really killed it (in a good way!) and just nailed Bella’s depression. I think people have issues with her protrayal of Bella b/c they want to see some over-the-top screaming/crying/drama all the time…but Bella is very introverted and doesn’t act like that, kwim? But, KStew really looked DEAD inside. Perfect. And that song ‘Possibility’ was perfect with it. I was getting annoyed with Bella for really really getting so chummy w/Jake. Yeesh. Whore! LOL

Hello Edward!

Edward. NOT ENOUGH EDWARD. Granted, we got more Edward than the book, but still not enough. Never enough. The apparitions were done well. But, need more of my man on the screen, damnit! This is an issue I have with the Twilight movie too…both movies…they don’t show enough of Edward and Bella and their relationship. And the long looks, the stroking..the kisses on her jawline..her ears…the ones that make her pretty much faint…In the Twilight movie, basically, they kiss once then it’s Vampire Baseball and James nearly killing her. Edward doesn’t even say ‘I Love You’ in the Twilight movie (but in the book he says it all the time)…in New Moon, it pretty much opens on her bday and then he breaks up w/her. If people only see the movies they will totally be Team Jacob b/c you never get to see the real meat of the Edward/Bella bond. Oh, did anyone else notice my man Robert Pattinson looks so much more manly in this movie? Maybe b/c he lost the gay gray pea coat? But anyway, his face just looked much more masculine. Yum. And, they didn’t use too much makeup on him this time either. Thank goodness. Oh, and the scene w/him taking his shirt off? I read that they airbrushed his abs on. Not that I care. But. more importantly, his freaking pants were pretty much OFF…and I guess vampires do not wear undies? Not that I’m complaining but one more centimeter and we would have seen something super fun sparkling!

one more inch..one more centimeter even...good-bye PG-13!

Jacob. I am obviously NOT on his team! I read the books. I usually skip the wolf crap b/c it gets in the way of my Edward fantasies. Now, if I had only seen the movie New Moon, and not read the book, I would def. be on Team Jacob. Taylor Lautner did a great job. And, no, I am not talking about his abs. I hate body builder abs. I hate guys who spend more time on their appearance than I do! Anyway, his relationship w/Bella, as shown in the movie, was so warm and sweet and caring…so exactly what she needed. Bella was all over him too. Always snuggling close to him…even when he was just working on the motorcycles. No wonder the poor guy was so besotted by her! In the book, I def. didn’t see her being so huggy w/him. Oh, the jorts? (jean shorts?) ICK. Body builder guys in jorts? So ICKY!!! eeuuww.

Wolf Pack. Loved them. So cute and puppy-like. When Jake and Paul are fighting, it made me miss my dog! LOL But, the wolves really lightened things up and I like the cgi stuff. In the books, I never envisioned them being that huge. They were @()$&@ HUGE! That Victoria better run and FAST!

Emily and Sam. Loved the two of them. You could see the love. Which I wish they could have done more of that with Edward/Bella. Oh, and back to Emily. She’s the like den mother for this pack of wolves. And, that’s part of why I couldn’t ever be on Team Jacob. I didn’t want Bella to end up like Emily. Cooking nonstop for a bunch of furry frat boys. UGH. Can you imagine the stench? Yeesh.

ALICE. I love Alice. She’s my fav vampire. Ashley Greene looked gorgeous. Especially in the Italy scenes. She also got to deliver some funny anti-wolf lines. LOVE. Oh, and I also loved that Bella emails Alice and it gives a way for her to do voice overs w/out being totally contrived and annoying. But, it also contributes to the SAD. Her best friend changed her email address? No wonder she had to resort to spending time w/dogs.

I love her! I even want those stupid fingerless gloves!

Cullens? Need more Cullens. Rosalie and Jasper looked really really weird though. They need to figure out their wigs, pronto. (worries me that Eclipse has already wrapped…what if their wigs look even worse than they do in New Moon?) I do heart Carlisle tho. I love PFach in real life too. I love that he’s married to Jennie Garth who is forever Kelly Taylor to me! She got to do Dylan AND Brandon! And dump both of their sorry asses with the ‘I Choose Me’ episode. Yes, I was on Team Kelly, NOT Team Brenda! Surprised?

Italy reunion. Love. I wanted more talk though. The movie really quickly gets them back together and again, it’s not enough for people to get why they are together and why she takes him back so easily. Which also killed me in the book. Dude tells you he doesn’t want you/doesn’t love you, leaves you in the woods and even takes all your stuff that would be a reminder, takes your best friend too? Is gone for 6 months without 1 word…even though I am not into confrontations, Edward should have had to work harder at getting her back. Esp. in the movie where Jacob looks like Mr. Wonderful compared to the mean, cold vampire who cruelly dumps Bella basically on her bday. (I read a fanfiction called ‘My Yes/My No’ that goes into all the stuff Bella could have/should have gotten into with Edward when they reunited. All the tough questions..more than ‘oh, I lied. So sorry’ and BAM back together. Oh, and some sexy stuff too! lol)

Volturi. Loved Jane. Need more and more JANE! Aro, Caius, Marcus? Meh. They all seemed sort of gay to me. Their hair sucked. I don’t know what I envisioned for their ‘look’ but it wasn’t little gay pageboys. Felix and Demetri? YES! I liked the fight scenes. Poor Edward got the crap beaten out of him but he deserved it for hurting Bella!

Charlie. Loved him. Billy Burke is awesome. Lots of little smiles/smirks and caring looks. Very introverted yet worried Dad stuff.

Mike/Jessica/Angela/other random humans. All love. Especially Jessica. Which is odd b/c I love Angela from the books and HATE Jessica! I don’t understand how they just let her be all depressed like that for so long? My girls would never let that happen to me! And I am a professional wallower!

I have actually only seen the movie ONE TIME! Can you believe it? But, from what I have read about the box office, New Moon seems to be doing just fine without me! LOL So, those are my thoughts for now. I reserve the right to update this!

"Twilight: Breaking Dawn" is absolutely insane, and so's the person who turns it into a movie

Look, we have no problem with “Twilight” as a franchise: if that’s your thing, go to it. But when we read a recent article on Chud.com outlining the major plot points of “Twilight: Breaking Dawn”, we agreed with the article’s author: there’s no way in hell they can turn this thing into a non-R-rated movie (if not NC-17; seriously, have you read the breakdown?).

But apparently, the movie version of “Breaking Dawn” is moving ahead. Here’s what’s being said by Wyck Godfrey, one of the producers of “Twilight: New Moon”:

There’s every intention to make Breaking Dawn“, he simply states.

Right. Riiiighht. Look, Wyck Godfrey– if that is your real name– we’d be really interested to see what you’re coming up with as far as a script goes, because as of right now, angry, rough sex, c-section by vampire teeth, and werewolves falling in love with babies doesn’t sound like it’s going to fit into the whole PG-13 mold that the “Twilight” franchise has been sporting up until this point.

Whatta you geeks think? Are they gonna get away with this, or is “Breaking Dawn” doomed from the start? Sound off below in the comments box (that’s what it’s there for): we wanna hear what you think.

(And, while you’re here, be sure to check out our other “Twilight”-related articles. They never stop, because “Twi-hards” never stop. They know no mercy, and they will not stop until you are dead)

Yesterday, I wrote a kind of odd post about “Celebrity News” which focused on the addict

Yesterday, I wrote a kind of odd post about “Celebrity News” which focused on the addictive quest for celebrity in our culture. I also discussed the intense craving of some newspeople, particularly TV newspeople, to be people “in the news” as well as people discussing it.

I felt a little guilty writing so dismissively about newspeople’s quest for attention. It did not escape me that bloggers could be said to suffer from similar cravings.

I can’t speak for all bloggers—I only really know one. Still, I think the average blogger’s pursuit of attention is somewhat different from that of the average TV newsperson. First, the newsperson often seems to be embued by grandiosity; a (perhaps inherent) narcissism has already been gorged by all the staff persons hovering– brushing their hair, checking their noses, patting their tummies—(wait a second, that’s spaniels–)

A blogger, in contrast, tends to be alone when working, either by choice or happenstance. (The blogger’s family, losing all hope of a dinner at home, has gone out.) The blogger, unlike the TV newsperson, or any TV persona, receves little coddling; their “stats” are a pretty good ego-toughener. Moreover, the blogger knows that even the few that do “view” the blog may look for a second at most—the time it takes to realize that a mouthwatering tag like “Robsten” has led to no new gossip and questionable adulation.

As a result, the blogger must garner sustenance from the age-old wisdom of Gandhi, as quoted by that newly-minted sage, Robert Pattinson, in the trailer of his upcoming movie, Remember Me: “Gandhi said that whatever you do in life is insignificant, but it’s very important that you do it.” (Sorry, but in the downswing from the manic side, I find myself studying this trailer.)

Which brings up what may be the most important difference between the TV newsperson’s motivations and the blogger’s. The blogger (or at least the only blogger I know) does not crave attention so much as expression. Yes, the blogger is thrilled when the number of hits rises, but his (her) most engaging and happy moments, are those spent actually writing, typing, and cursorily editing, each post. And then, of course, the pressing of the little button that says “Publish,” and the watching of that little button spin.

This is something for those with writer’s block to remember. Try to get hooked on the process, and not to think too much of the impression that you, as the person engaging in the process, are making. Of course, you need to keep your audience in mind. You are trying to communicate. You want your readers both (i) to be able to follow your work and (ii) to want to follow your work. But try to keep the focus on the the writing, the message, and not on yourself as its deliverer. Writing is not about getting your nose powdered, head (or tummy) patted, but about putting the words on the page.

Well, I saw it. I’ll admit, I’ve read all the books. While I enjoy them, I think I have

Well, I saw it.

I’ll admit, I’ve read all the books. While I enjoy them, I think I have a decent perspective on what they are. Call it a guilty pleasure, if you want. It’s not great literature by any stretch, and anyone who says those books are well-written is delusional. But I won’t begrudge those who like the series and get excited for the movies. I thought the first movie, last year’s Twilight, was better than many people gave it credit for, but still a flawed movie. So I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one, with their new director and bigger budget. Here’s what I thought:

The Twilight Saga: New Moon begins with Bella Swan brooding (as usual) on her 18th birthday because she is now officially older than her vampire boyfriend, Edward Cullen (except that he’s actually 100+ years old and trapped in a 17-year-old boy’s body. Creepy? Yes.). At the birthday party that the Cullens coerce her into having, Bella gets a paper cut while opening a gift, and her blood sends the Cullens into something of a frenzy (side note: it seemed like an awful lot of blood for one tiny paper cut, didn’t it?). Shaken up by this close-call, Edward leads her deep into the forest and tells her that they can no longer be together, and that he is ostensibly leaving forever. A few months pass, and Bella apparently never moves from her perch by her bedroom window. She finally gets up the courage to face the world boyfriend-less (I’ll save my rant for another time), and finds a companion in her newly ripped friend, Jacob Black. Bella discovers that doing dangerous things causes ghostly apparitions of Edward to appear, and this causes her to do a number of incredibly idiotic, dangerous things in order to see his face. Meanwhile, Jacob’s going through some tough times himself, since he’s just now finding out that he happens to be a werewolf. Cue the budding romance, brooding gazes, abs, and suicide threats.

If you enjoyed the books, you probably won’t mind the sillyness of this movie. Anyone else will likely be really confused as to why this franchise is so popular. But as ridiculous as it all is, there is something there, obviously. I’m not going to go into some pseudo-psychological deconstruction of it all. I just know that it’s shamefully enjoyable. A lot of the fun comes from Robert Pattinson (who plays Edward, if you somehow weren’t aware). All of his theatrical brooding is beyond over-the-top, but he does have a weird magnetism on the screen. Am I saying this because I’m an 18-year-old girl who finds him attractive? Probably. But he does bring a boatload of charisma to the movie just by dopily gazing into space. He and Kristen Stewart, who plays Bella, have some decent onscreen chemistry, and while her stilted delivery is easy to mock, it works pretty well for the character.

Taylor Lautner (Jacob) may be one giant hunk of eye candy (there were a few cheers in my theatre when he made his debut), but he comes across as surprisingly bland. I doubt that many of the people going to see this movie really care about his acting, but any time the role called for an emotion that wasn’t “jovial”, things took a turn for the worst.

The special effects are also much better. Now, when Edward Cullen steps into the sunlight, the special effects are just laughably silly, rather than laughably silly AND awful. The werewolves (though rather underused) come across much better than the trailers suggested. That whole, weirdly aquatic atmosphere of the first film is still here somewhat, but new director Chris Weitz wisely tones it down a bit.

I really could have done without the three segments of the film that involved lengthy 360-degree camera shots revolving around the characters (two of which were only minutes apart). I get that Bella is disoriented in a world without Edward, but I don’t need to feel like I’m watching Cloverfield in order to understand that.

I always liked the Bella/Jacob bond in the book, yet I felt like the pacing of that section of the movie (which was the entire middle part of the film) was all over the place. Things got more interesting in the last half hour of the film, when Bella goes to Italy and meets the Volturi (some kind of law-enforcement vampires?). Michael Sheen and Dakota Fanning are so much fun as two of the sinister vampires, and really elevate the film far beyond anything that happened in the first hour and a half.

It’s not by any stretch a good film, but you can have a lot of fun at New Moon, if you’re willing to go along with it. Even the audience at my screening, who seemed legitimately interested in the movie, burst into laughter at a random shot of Edward Cullen running through the woods in slow motion. I laughed at New Moon, but I did ultimate find myself getting absorbed in the story. Not as much as I did with the first one, but it was still an enjoyable, if not largely flawed, film.

5/10

This is fairly amazing:

In this re-imagined narrative, Edward Cullen from the Twilight Series meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It’s an example of transformative storytelling serving as a pro-feminist visual critique of Edward’s character and generally creepy behavior. Seen through Buffy’s eyes, some of the more sexist gender roles and patriarchal Hollywood themes embedded in the Twilight saga are exposed – in hilarious ways. Ultimately this remix is about more than a decisive showdown between the slayer and the sparkly vampire. It also doubles as a metaphor for the ongoing battle between two opposing visions of gender roles in the 21st century.

Yes, I saw it.

I’m a huge fan of the Twilight books, and therefore couldn’t NOT see it. However, I was secretly praying that it would be leaps and bounds better than the mediocre first attempt. A change of director, and improvement of special effects, has helped make New Moon live up to its literary counterpart.

A definite lack of over dramatic vampires and increase in sexy Native American werewolves (TEAM JACOB!) perhaps helped, however, the brief glimpse of a shirtless Robert Pattinson was not unwelcome. Plus, Kristen Stewart seems to have reeled in her annoying habits and managed to be, dare I say it, kind of captivating. 17-year-old (yes, ladies, he’s still in high school) Taylor Lautner is very talented, and will no doubt have a long career as a Hollywood Heart-throb.

Below, enjoy a gallery of some great new moon pics. REMEMBER: Taylor Lautner is still considered jail-bait. I continue to repeat that mantra “think unsexy thoughts, think unsexy thoughts” a-la Homer Simpson, and found that it kept my indulgent fantasies at bay. Only a few thousand sleeps until Eclipse!

I am a bit too proud to “let it go” when critics pan something I like. So I have to justify, through thought and theory, why something is good. And perhaps I should just let sleeping vampires lie… but I enjoyed almost every minute of New Moon, a movie most critics said was inferior to its predecessor.

So first I must start earlier in the franchise. This past weekend I re-watched Twilight, and was re-creeped out by Edward being such a fucking stalker.

Twilight’s version of love is deeply melodramatic and unfeminist; but it speaks to cliches that are apparently still quite deeply embedded in little girls. Ed is exactly the kind of guy young women should avoid; he confesses he’s extremely protective of Bella; he watches her while she sleeps without permission; he stares at her unnervingly in public; his moods are unpredictable; he lies to her all the time; he even threatens to fang her. She laps it up. Yet it’s still easy to see why this portrait of clandestine love is appealing. Ed’s single-minded obsession is really hot; who wouldn’t want to be the fixation of a deliciously sexy Victorian goth boy? It also speaks to the narcissism of some types of love; we want to be craved, to be the focus of somebody else’s life. It’s also narcissistic because that consuming sort of love allows us to hide in that love and shut out the universe, thus becoming an excuse for all sorts of selfishness on the lovers’ behalves. The point is, the first movie is pretty fucked up. A better argument than I could ever make regarding this topic is featured in this hilarious youtube mash-up of Buffy and Edward.

Many critics regaled the first Twilight movie for being an ode to teenage love; but for real? Twilight offers mystical magnetism as the only explanation for Bella’s and Edward’s love. B & E apparently have nothing in common, and the only time they are shown to have what looks like a normal conversation occurs during a montage sequence with no sound but the music track. What the two lovers say during pedestrian conversation remains a riddle wrapped inside of a question mark! The only thing those two have in common is that they’d both like to die for each other. Not so realistic, methinks. (Mehopes!)

New Moon, despite featuring further proliferation of the supernatural, portrays the most realistic version of “teenage love.” And it doesn’t take place between Edward and Bella, but between Bella and Jacob the Wolfman. Jacob is such a muscled sweetie-pie, literally an All-American hunk o’ love; maybe our first Native American heartthrob? (Sadly, the actor isn’t really Native American, though he claims to be part Potowatami and Ottowa through his Michigander’s mom side.) Jacob and Bella pursue a common hobby (motorcycles), they take scenic drives, see movies called Facepunch, hang out with friends, etc, and do pretty normal stuff. Their attraction is grounded, it makes sense, and it is no less hot just because it is more realistic. (How could it not be hot? Those MUSCLES! Here is a slideshow of them. [Thanks, Rach])

Next critique: New Moon is long and boring, they say. Well, sure, it’s long, but is it drawn-out? That depends on your perspective. The awkward pauses, long glances and hesitant touches between Bella and her two loves make for luxuriously drawn-out courtship rituals. My sister and I squealed with delight every time it looked like something might happen between the romantic leads.

Which leads me to my next point (bear with me). This movie is fundamentally feminine in perspective and an escape from the drudgery of daily life, like a harlequin romance would be. And that’s why everyone thinks it’s stupid. New Moon really takes female desire seriously; Bella is at the center and the plot turns on her being the fixation of two really hot dudes (one of whom is shirtless in almost every scene). Bella isn’t as good looking as her two love interests; she’s an everygirl. She has brown hair, not blond, thank you very much, and she wears frumpy-ass poofy coats to school. She is the blank page on whom we project ourselves. And you know? This movie’s pace is feminine, as opposed to masculine. Fantasy movies for guys are full of car chases, then some sex scenes, probably some gadget scenes, more sex scenes, battles, etc. This fantasy movie is not so much full of events as it is the possibility of events: again, the luxurious pauses, etc. Desire simmers slightly below boiling for most of the movie, and what we’re left is the possibility of the gratification of desire.

We women just love that. I’d rather use my imagination than see a fantasy created for me on screen; New Moon is all about possibilities, and that’s why I can’t wait to watch it again.

In college, my roommate had developed something that he liked to call “The Asian Porn Theory.”

His hypothesis was that he could pick a random search term on any search engine and, within five pages of results, find a link to a Web site featuring — you guessed it, Asian porn. It didn’t work every time, but more often than not, his theory held up.

I don’t have anything against Asian porn, but it was a little disappointing. It seemed to me that here was this marvelous tool that could be used to share information, expand knowledge and step boldly across cultural and generational boundaries, and untold numbers of people were using the Internet to swap pictures and videos of hot Asian women doing kinky stuff.

It could not, I thought, get any worse than that.

Enter Robert Pattinson and his seemingly deformed nipple.

A co-worker confessed to me this morning that she had spent an hour online over the weekend trying to solve the mystery of the “New Moon” star’s nipple, which appeared to be severely misshapen in one scene of the movie. She went to the Internet to see if she was the only one who had noticed it.

Sadly, she was not.

There are discussion threads, pictures, YouTube videos, and frame by frame analyses of what one blogger called the star’s “wonky mipple.”

A quick, cringe-inducing Google search leads me to believe that there are currently more people online this very moment searching for and discussing the actor’s pale, grotesque man-teat (wouldn’t it be awesome if he used a pound of pomade to make his chest hair spiky too?) than there are people searching for Asian porn.

If Mipplegate continues to keep “Twilight” fans titillated, then the Robert Pattinson Nipple Theory may just become a reality.

See ajab Bellat segadusse,» jätkas Lautner.

Viis head põhjust, miks vaadata filmi “Noorkuu”.

Ajakiri People pani kirja viis paremat asja, mida saab näha filmis «Videviku saaga: Noorkuu».

Hoiatus! Artikkel kirjeldab ka filmis toimuvat!

Jacob Blacki keha

Fotod, millel saab näha näitleja Taylor Lautneri muutumist kiitsakast poisist musklis libahundiks, on levinud juba kuid.

Dakota Fanning

Dakota mängib nääpsukest vampi Jane’i, kellel on kohutav võime – puhtalt keskendumise abil võib ta ohvrile põrgupiina tekitada.

Huumorimeel

Kuigi «Videviku» seeria põhineb teismeliste ängistusel, tõstab lavastaja Chris Weitz tuju hästiajastatud huumoriga.

by ssjrem

Okay, I gotta say that I did not see this coming. A lot weird shit went on in the box office this weekend and I find myself rather surprised. The big story this weekend is not any of the openers or New Moon, but The Blind Side in its second weekend. Why? I’ll get to that in a minute, but first we have to discuss New Moon, which repeats at number one.

New Moon

Well, New Moon tops the charts for a second weekend, which was easily expected. However, the margin by which it claimed number one was significantly smaller than anyone expected. I knew New Moon would crash and burn this weekend, but I didn’t think it would be quite this bad. Anyway, it plummeted 70% down to 42.9 million. Ouch. If Thanksgiving weekend did in fact mitigate that fall, I can’t imagine what it would’ve hit if this were a normal weekend. We could’ve been talking an 80% drop. Damn. Anyway, it doesn’t really matter at this point. The total is already up to 231 million, about forty million more than the first entry in the series. I’m really on the fence about the ability of New Moon do reach 100 million. On the merits of the first weekend alone, it really should. To open to 140 million and not at least cross 300 is ridiculous. At the very least, though, it should end up in the 285 million ballpark, a massive improvement over Twilight.

The Blind Side

Wow. Just wow. This came out of nowhere. After The Blind Side debuted to a stellar 34 million last weekend, it continues to defy expectations. It’s not like it just a had a really small drop this weekend. No, it actually increased. And substantially too. It comes within an inch of supplanting New Moon too. The Blind Side increased a remarkable 18% to 40.1 million. Damn. You never see that kind of thing without a significant increase in the number of theatres. The Blind Side only added 30, which is negligible. Really, that is remarkable. What we have on our hands here is one hell of a crowd pleaser. For it to go up like that…. wow. Don’t get to discuss things like this very often. Anyway, the total is now up to an even 100 million. By comparison, The Proposal, which debuted to a similar 33 million, had amassed 69 million by the end of its weekend. I never, ever thought I’d say this, but based on what The Blind Side has done this weekend, 200 million isn’t out of the question, especially with the rest of the Holiday season ahead of us. Next weekend will tell a better story, though. Wow, this is motherfucking Sandra Bullock’s year.

2012 levels off a bit, dipping 33% to 17.7 million. As the only more male oriented picture in the top three, it’s not surprising that it held pretty well. However, that 138 million total is still kind of disappointing, at least on the domestic front. I really would’ve loved to have seen this plummet again this weekend because it was so terrible, but oh well.

Debuting disappointingly in fourth, we have Old Dogs. This performed nothing like Wild Hogs and I’m very, very grateful because of that. It pulled in a decent 16.9 million. It’s rocking an abysmal 6% at Rotten Tomatoes. Wow. But then again, Americans are fucking retarded and this will probably find its way to a respectable gross anyway. Fuck people.

As expected, A Christmas Carol enjoys a nice boost over this weekend, one that was desperately needed. It went up 28% to 15.8 million, lifting its total to 104.9 million. It still has a long way to go for profitability, though.

And debuting in sixth amidst a crowded weekend, we have the hidden gem that is Ninja Assassin. Two of my friends that saw this with me absolutely hated it. One said part of him died inside. Another seriously considers it “one of the worst movies ever.” Me, I loved every minute of it and don’t feel like I wasted my money at all. But, anyway, I already reviewed this, so on to the box office. It grossed a respectable 13.3 million, which given the reviews and all the other movies in the market, I think that’s pretty good. Plus, its per theatre average actually exceeded both A Christmas Carol and Old Dogs. Even still, I really don’t expect any sort of legs from this. But I’m sure as hell going to get it when it comes out on DVD.

Planet 51 holds well, slipping just 17% to 10.2 million. It has a somewhat decent total so far of 28.5 million. I wouldn’t quite call this a failure per se, but–well, actually looking at its budget and seeing that it cost 70 million, maybe failure would be so inappropriate a label.

Precious made 7.1 million. Down 35%. 32.5 million total. I do not care.

The extremely creepy looking The Fantastic Mr. Fox debuts to rather weak numbers in ninth. And I say, well, good. It looked and seemed weird as well. Made a little less than seven million this weekend. Though, admittedly, on any other weekend, seven million would normally get you much higher than ninth, but the box office has been in hyper drive the past two weekends.

George Clooney takes up the bottom two spots of the top ten with The Men Who Stare at Goats following his creepy fox movie. And it’s a distant tenth at that. TMWSAG grossed 1.5 million for a gross now of 30.5 million. Eh, not bad, but given the starpower, I think more was expected.

EDIT: Well, this is why I sometimes prefer to wait for the actual numbers to come in. As it turns out, TMWSAG didn’t take the number ten spot. The Road, which I personally thinks looks quite good, (I love Viggo Mortenson) breaks into the top ten while only in 111 theatres. It edged Goats by only about five hundred dollars, which is ridiculously close. It had the highest per theatre average in the top ten. This reminds me that I really need to see Old Country for Old Men. Anyway, yeah, The Road FTW!

Yeah, so there you go. New Moon’s drop is almost as amazing as its opening weekend and The Blind Side treats us to something we don’t see often, an uptick in box office due to soley word of mouth. I’m afraid this hot streak may be over next weekend as we got a whole bunch of shit.

Armored: An utterly ridiculous premise that I can’t see doing anything special at the box office.

Brothers: An even more ridiculous premise that has produced one of the most unintentionally hilarious trailers I’ve ever seen. It’s supposed to be so intense and suspenseful, but it’s just bad. And really funny. I just can’t take Tobey Maguire serious in this. If I were ever forced to see this, I’d definitely be laughing all the way through.

Everybody’s Fine: Probably the best choice for next weekend. I like the fact that it’s a Christmas movie released during the actual Christmas season as opposed to something like A Christmas Carol, which got started like two days after Halloween.

Transylmania: Why, humanity, why? Please, please, please, everyone, ignore this movie. Pretend it doesn’t exist and don’t go see it. In fact, as soon as you’re done reading this, forget you ever heard of it and let’s let it fail as miserably as possibly.

Until we meet again.

So i just read a interview with Robert Pattinson and it just dawned on me what a truly amazing guy he is. Now i know loads of crazy twihards are going to bombard me with thoughts of ‘he’s so hot’..’that hair’ or ‘ooh he’s dating Kristen Stewart’. Now im going to be the first to admit, yes i was once a fan who just cooed at all that stuff too.

But, this interview i just read with him actually made me see Robert Pattinson is genuinely a good guy. He’s honest, insightful and knows what himself. Now i know people will wonder how i know this as i dont even know the damn guy, but this is the honest impression i get from him from this interview.

Scrap every interview you’ve ever read or watched and read this:

http://everglowmedia.net/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=64085&fullsize=1

I just love his description of London, and being a England near London girl myself, i feel his description actually captures that essence of London. Whenever i go, there’s a magical feel there so raw and untouched, people cant help but fall in love with London.

I love how walking down Oxford street you can see thousands of people, each filled with some sort of content. Although you never see those faces again, everyone is there for a purpose. London is truly filled with hope and it lights my heart that even such a huge celebrity such as Robert Pattinson could recognise this glimmer of hope that so many London residents do not even see themselves.

I wouldnt have thought Rob to be a writer, but i think the idea of him being enclosed in a library just trying to find words to convey how he feels is magical. As a young aspiring writer myself, i love the idea of being cuccooned in a placve so desolate and isolate you dont know if anyone will ever find you again. I love how he can recognise certain moments in life give you such a rush of emotion you’ll never forget them.

People search forever for those moments and I just found one – hope.
