Job Posting: Lead Guide Wanted for the Revelstoke Outdoors Centre

The Revelstoke Outdoors Centre at Revelstoke Mountain Resort is seeking a fully certified ski guide to fill the role of LEAD GUIDE in the Revelstoke Outdoors Centre. Responsibilities will include overseeing our cat skiing operation as well as our backcountry touring programming and backcountry/snow safety awareness programming.

This is a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor of the most progressive activities centre in North American skiing. The ROC is a full service adventure centre located at the foot of the Revelation Gondola at Revelstoke Mountain Resort. The ROC is the umbrella department that looks after snow school, cat skiing, backcountry touring, snow safety (AST courses) as well as booking for 3rd party operators for activities like dog sledding, paragliding, and snowmobiling.

The Lead Guide is a full-time, seasonal position. RMR is open from November 28, 2009 – April 11, 2010, with cat skiing running Dec 6 – Mar 31. Wage is dependent on experience.

What would be the point for jay? Everybody is hyping up a Jay & 50 beef too as if that would be good.

50 can’t even handle Rick Ross… His only real method in beef is outside of the studio. Fucking baby moms and taking pics with kids and such.

Jay is Richer then 50 so I can’t see him bribing any of Jays people to embarrass him with.

Except for maybe Beanie Siegel.. and the general consensus is it’s just sad. Everybody has respect for Beans but what he’s doing is only embarrassing himself.

A very busy weekend for regional MMA fans got underway Wednesday night when Jose Aldo stepped in the cage and jumped up and down on Mike Brown, then left with his WEC Featherweight belt.

The week continues tonight with not one, not two, but three excellent fights. The big show goes on in Kansas City, but if you have Showtime, Strikeforce returns to TV with Challengers: Woodley vs Bears. Also on that card is the Couture/Vera rematch with Kerry Vera taking on Sugar Free Kim Couture in a 135# co-main event.

In regional action, Ring of Combat is back in Atlantic City with ROC’s heavyweight champ, Ricardo Romero (9-1) defending the strap against Silmar Rodrigo (9-3). Jeff Lentz (6-0) is also on that card. Exciting fighter out of Kurt Pelligrino’s camp that’s worth your attention.

On the west side of the Ben Franklin Bridge, Extreme Force Productions is running their second show, despite rumors to the contrary…we think. Scheduled are two pro and one amateur title fight. The co-main events feature two of the top fighters in the area. Tara LaRosa (17-1) dances with Valerie Coolbaugh (4-2) in a bantamweight title fight. One of LaRosa’s Fight Factory training partners, Wilson Reis (8-1) takes on Dwyane Shelton (9-6) for the league’s new Featherweight belt.

The UFC is back in action on a short flip with Ortiz vs Griffin 2, a runback that could remake or break either fighter. This fight has been beat to hell with injuries, and some are calling this the most cursed event in MMA history. The only fighter with any real momentum going into the PPV card is Antonio Minotauro Nogueira (16-3), who’s on a 4 fight win streak bridging Affliction, Sengoku and HCF.

Have you ever watched the Rachel Zoe Project? I confess it is a guilty indulgence of mine. I love fashion and so I can understand her someone out-of-kilter priorities. Much is made of her pet phrases like “Bananas!” and “I Die.” and the like, but they never seem to notice that there is one word repeated again and again and again in every episode – and that word is options. “We need more options!” is the theme of Rachel Zoe and her crazy staff’s lives. Well, if she had this dress she would have many options in one. For example, the bodice can be worn like this with bare skin peeping out or….

There is the option of wearing it with a more discreet bodice. Then you can wear it with a system skirt as in this lovely dress. The shoes, by the way, are Bella Donna and also option crazy.

Then there is the full length sheer skirt option – which can also be worn with either bodice choice. Essentially it’s four dresses in one. And every one an elegant delicious gown. And to top it off, it’s a free gift from the Ranena Olivier Couture subscrib-o-matic. There’s also a lilac version on sale in the store.

I decided to wear lucas lameth’s Athena crystal jewelry with this. I love the vintage feeling of these pieces. The hair is one I have worn many times because it is just so luscous – Faye from Mirone.

The makeup is the oh-so-elegant PXL July. Seriously, are the more elegant skins in SL?

Along with Wednesday night’s WEC show, there are four other fights this weekend, including a UFC pay per view, Strikeforce Challengers show, a Ring of Combat event in Atlantic City, and a new promotion in Philadelphia with Wilson Reis and Tara LaRosa in the co-main events. This is a fantastic weekend to be a fight fan on the east coast.

L’hiver au Québec est difficile, et cela n’est un secret pour personne.
Nous devons non seulement nous adapter aux journées qui raccourcissent et donc au manque de soleil, mais aussi à la neige et au froid. Notre peau doit elle aussi s’adapter à ce choc saisonnier : avec le chauffage qui assèche la peau et l’alternance du chaud et du froid, l’état de notre peau peut rapidement empirer si nous ne savons pas comment en prendre soin.

Il est d’abord important de bien connaître son type de peau pour pouvoir lui appliquer les bons soins. Pour cela, je vous suggère fortement de passer à votre pharmacie la plus proche pour demander une analyse de peau. Une fois fixée, vous pourrez ajuster vos soins en conséquences.

Une erreur courante est de penser que notre peau s’assèche pendant l’hiver, alors qu’en fait, elle se déshydrate. Les peaux normalement sèches deviennent peut-être très sèches, mais les peaux mixtes ou grasses ne deviendront jamais sèches, et ce, même l’hiver : elles deviennent plutôt déshydratées.

Les peaux sèches sont caractérisées par leurs pores de peau invisibles et par des plaques de petites peaux qui se décollent de l’épiderme : elles manquent de lipides. Elles nécessitent des crèmes à texture riche qui viendront nourrir leur peau. Pour l’hiver, une crème agissant comme une barrière protectrice leur est nécessaire, comme la crème Hydra S.O.S de Lise Watier, conçue et testée spécialement pour les températures extrêmes du Canada.

On peut reconnaître les peaux déshydratées par de petites stries, ou par des picotements et brûlures ressenties aux changements de température. Pour celles-ci, je recommande fortement l’application d’un sérum hydratant comme l’Aquasource de Biotherm, qui viendra abreuver la peau et donc la calmer. Le sérum doit être appliqué après le tonique et avant la crème hydratante.

Dans tous les cas, je vous suggère de vous appliquer un masque hydratant comme le baume Aqualia thermal de Vichy, que l’on applique en couche épaisse et que l’on laisse reposer 10 minutes une fois par semaine après avoir nettoyé et exfolié votre peau. Quand les journées sont particulièrement froides, vous pouvez aussi appliquer ce baume en une couche mince sur votre peau à la place de votre crème de jour, pour protéger votre peau contre le froid mordant.

Le corps et les mains ne doivent pas être délaissés! Traînez toujours avec vous un baume à lèvres et une crème à main. Plusieurs compagnies font même des ensembles baume & crème à petits prix, comme celui de Roc. Pour ce qui est de la crème pour le corps, il est préférable de l’appliquer au sortir du bain. Des baumes sont aussi disponibles, qui ont une texture plus onctueuse pour les peaux plus sèches.

N’oubliez pas votre protection solaire les journées de sport d’hiver, ou les journées où le soleil se reflète particulièrement sur la neige. La crème solaire est le meilleur anti-âge qui soit et…vaut mieux prévenir que guérir!

Clarification on the ROC Videos

MMA Opinion broke a Ring of Combat video last week. The videos were developed by GoToPressTV.com and had some Spike signature on them.

After doing some digging, I was able to get an explanation from GTP on the purpose of the videos.

The ROC videos were developed for a network content provider who was pitching several ideas to Spike and other networks. I’m not sure if it aired in its present form. If there was interest, the project would most likely move into the pilot stage where we would start production on an actual show. The pilot would still need to be picked up before it would ever air on the network. Often the pilots and sample videos are used for promotional purposes and advertizing throughout this long and tedious process. Lou Neglia and everyone at ROC has been a pleasure to work with and we are hoping to get the opportunity to work with them again. From what I understand there are a couple of different ideas in the works including a web series for Spike Media. We will keep ya posted on the progress and please let us know if there is anything we can do for you as well.

Funk Master Flex Speaks On The Roc Situation

Funk Master Flex gives his opinion on what is going down with all these rappers upset with Hov right now, especially Beans. But he makes a good point, Flex mentions that these cats are only upset because Jay-Z put out a good album. If his album was garbage how many of these rap cats would even care about him? They may have a chuckle or two saying he is washed up, but they wouldn’t devote any time to it. But the opposite has happened, BP3 is still on fire and Jay-Z is pulling away from the pack. This leaves a sour taste in a few rappers mouth, so they have something to say.

I don’t know how this will all play out, but it is interesting to hear different peoples points of view about the Roc turning into a pebble.

Advanced Global Collaboration: Frost & Sullivan Whitepaper

Verizon and Cisco sponsored this whitepaper by Frost & Sullivan, which charts ‘the course of advanced collaboration’.

Frost & Sullivan have boldly proposed the first model to calculate the Return on Collaboration (ROC). The main method for this model is a global-reaching survey of people who work in the IT and Communications Industry, and then subdivision into ‘basic’, ‘intermediate’, and ‘advanced’ collaborators. A basic ‘ROC Index’ stems from this research – broadly speaking a cost/benefit analysis – and shows that R & D and Sales departments make the best use of collaborative technologies. This is much more effective in larger organisations (more than 1000 employees).

The report rightly focuses on the importance of an open and collaborative culture to successful internal collaboration within a business.

Ring of Combat on SpikeTV UPDATED

All I’ve seen is the preview video that Brandt from MMAOpinion.com picked up today. Right now I’m trying to track down more information, but it does look like Ring of Combat is about to go nationwide with a SpikeTV contract. This will be the second national deal for Lou Neglia’s Atlantic City show. But this will be the first time (that I know of) ROC will be featured on nationwide basic cable. Also, an interesting move that Spike is signing a second MMA promotion.

Implications for the UFC? Or just a natural progression in the sport of mixed martial arts? What do you think?
