Sul palco dell’Apple Event in corso è stata appena presentata la nuova versione del player musicale iTunes, la 9. iTunes 9 gode di un’interfaccia semplificata rispetto a quella della versione 8 ed è stato dotato di una nuova funzione: Genius Mixes.

Genius Mixes crea playlist a riproduzione continua sfruttando la stessa tecnologia presentata l’anno scorso per il funzionamento di Genius con i dati derivanti dall’analisi di 27 milioni di librerie con un totlale di 54 miliardi di canzoni.

Il nuovo iTunes migliora anche la sincronizzazione con i dispositivi della gamma iPod e iPhone: adesso sono disponibili più opzioni per selezionare i brani e le playlist da trasferire nel dispositivo ed è ora possibile ordinare le applicazioni per iPhone e iPod touch direttamente dal proprio computer con un notevole risparmio di tempo per gli utenti.

Arriva anche “Home Sharing”, una nuova funzione che permette il collegamento in streaming della libreria musicale di cinque computer presenti nella rete domestica. Presentato anche “iTunes LP” che consentirà di avere a portata di clic documenti relativi ai brani come testi, note degli autori e immagini.

iTunes 9 consente anche di pubblicare via Facebook e Twitter una lista di brani preferiti. Il download di iTunes 9 sarà disponibile a breve direttamente dalla pagina dedicata del sito Apple e da Aggiornamento Software.

È stata rilasciata un po’ in sordina anche la versione 3.1 di iPhone OS, il sistema operativo di iPhone e iPod touch. Il download della nuova versione del firmware è possibile da iTunes alla sincronizzazione dei dispositivi.

Tak, wiem, że zaglądacie tu zwodzeni przez google w celach poszukiwania zdjęć z Basowiszcza 2009. Oto i są. Symbolicznie, bo dużo mniej focilem w tym roku, odpowiednio do poziomu tegorocznej (niby jubileuszowej) edycji. O wiele bardziej reprezentatywny jest reportażyk z roku 2008 (http://bartoszniedzwiecki.prv.pl/basowiszcza.html). Ale cóż, jest co jest. Zespołów tylko kilka, tłumu praktycznie wcale, bo po co. Lao che – jak najbardziej.

A figura do meio a maioria já deve conheçer,  é Josh Homme, lider do Queens of the Stone Age, junto com Jesse Hughes eles formam o Eagles of Death Metal, que de Death Metal não tem nada. Eagles of Death Metal é puro Rock n’Roll, muita guitarra, letras bem humoradas, riffs e ritmo dançante.

A banda foi até o Rio de Janeiro para registrar suas 11 músicas, onde passaram três dias no BPM Estúdio, no final de 2007. Em janeiro ainda fizeram suas fotos, e apresentaram o material virtualmente em maio deste ano. Agora o disco foi prensado e acabou de sair do forno!

O show de lançamento começará às 20:30hs, com entrada a $5.

É isso ai sabichão, a famigerada festa do peão de cerquilho se foi, graças a Deus. Graças pra quem gosta de boa música é claro. Enfim… Depois de todos os rockeiros da cidade de Cerquilho e região sofrerem com a massiva e enfadonha campanha publicitária deste evento chega a hora dos organizadores da Gothic Party re-surgirem das cinzas e convocar você rockeiro abandonado a ir curtir uma puta festa com muito rock, cerveja e tudo que uma boa festa rockeira pode ter.

In the end of September I published “Larry Norman – the political songs”. Now it’s time to publish a few of the the non political songs by Larry Norman - the religious songs. Well, actually all his songs were about religion or politics, but these are my two favourites. The first one is “Why should the Devil have all the good music”, and I think the title speaks for itself. It’s a protest song against Christians who regarded rock n’roll as a sin and called him “satan’s tool” etc. The clip below is from a concert in 1988. However, in this clip from 1999 he also explains the background. He says that when Elvis Presley came along in the 50’s most white people thought it was something new, but that he recognized it as “black church music”, since he grew up with black people. However, most white christians were totally unaware of the black culture and music, and they saw Elvis’s music as something secular. They did not understand that what Norman was trying to do was to bring the traditional church music, under its new label “rock n’roll” back to the church. Because why should the devil have all the good music?

The second one is called “The Rock That Doesn’t Roll”. The title alone made me laugh. It’s catchy. It’s been stuck in my head for days. My wife know its humming by heart by now. She hates it.
The clip below is the original recording from 1977, but there are concert clips also. A regular concert from 2007 here and a concert from 2008 that seems a bit more personal and loose here. In the second concert it’s just him and his guitar, and he doesn’t remember all the lyrics.

The American presidential election is coming up. People talk politics more than they usually do. Here are two political songs from the 70’s. The singer is legendary Christian Rock n’Roll star, Larry Norman (1947 – 2008). The guy who could have been a lot more famous if he sang what people wanted to hear. But he sang of what he believed in. He sang about Jesus, he sang about politics, he sang about his opinions. These are two of my favourite political songs. Of course, it’s from the 70’s so I only understand half of it. Maybe some of you older guys can explain some of it to me…
“The Great American Novel” is from 1977. The clip is from 1988. “Reader’s Digest” is from 1973, the clip is from just a few years ago.
