I can’t believe its been a year today since we adopted Hudson from the great people at RocketDogRescue!

So, I haven’t posted a few days … and today’s post isn’t really going to be about jewelry.  Rather, it is about an unexpected acquisition from jewelry class.

Meet Roo:

Isn’t she sweet?  She has positively charmed everyone in the house — including the existing animals.

How did she come from jewelry class, you ask?  Excellent question.

Well, the very talented and sweet Gili Assa, who takes classes with me at Scintillant Studio, is also a dedicated volunteer for Rocket Dog Rescue.  Included in the time and energy that Gili puts in on behalf of homeless dogs is the fact that she fosters lots of little ones.  Sometimes they come to the studio with her.  One day, about two weeks ago, this little one appeared and I just sort of knew that she’d be added to the menagerie at home.

After a trial visit of a few days, it became final and my husband and I took in the little one.  We named her, Roo, after the smallest, youngest animal in the world of Winnie the Pooh, to reflect her position in the house.

So please EVERYONE come out next Saturday and join us for this good cause and to support When Modern Was and Rocket Dog Rescue!!

San Fran, will you help Rocket Dog Rescue?

To my friends in San Fran, be sure to get out to the Womens Building in the Mission District for the Paws and Play Pet Fair sponsored by The Bold Italic and Pawesome.

The event is from 6-8 on Saturday, and its FREE! There will be tons of cool people there, like Lagunitas Brewing Company, WINE from Treasure Island Wines, free sandwiches from Ike’s Place, free cupcakes from Sugar Beat Sweets and Fat Bottom Bakery, and free cookies from Eat Pastry.  

BEST OF ALL: Proceeds from the raffle that Recycling Zychal has donated an Upcycled Umbrella Dog Rain Coat to goes to help all the little angels at Rocket Dog Rescue!

It’s a win win if you ask me!

What’s the occasion for making these snazzy new “pin back buttons”?

I will have a vendor table at the Paws and Play Pet Fair at the Women’s Building in San Francisco this Saturday, Nov.13th from 6-8 pm.  There will be free snacks!  Also there’s a raffle and bingo from 8:30-10:30 pm.  Yea to The Bold Italic, Pawesome and Rocket Dog Rescue for putting this event together.  Did I mention free snacks?  I like snacks.  There will be free snacks!
