Lately (the past 2 years or so) I have been very motivated. It’s almost a bad thing now. I have trouble sleeping and all I want to do is go! Don’t get me wrong, I get in my slumps every now and then where I feel like I am worthless, but overall the last 2 years I have been focused and motivated. And it’s amazing how much you can get done when you set your mind to something.

A lot of my motivation comes from books, blogs, and even those old inspirational tapes. Yeh, you know the ones! The Tony Robbins tapes, and other guys like that. I say tapes because my car only has a tape player. HAHA. Although I love those things, probably the most motivating things to me is what my father sends to me.

Every once in a while I will get an e-mail from him or he’ll send a magazine article my way, and every time it is something new, fresh, and very motivational/inspirational. I thought that I would put some of those things up in my blog to share with all of you because I know that I love to see and read these things, and I thought you might to. So here is the first (of many) motivational/inspirational blogs.

WARNING-This Post has Spoilers to the Rocky Movies

So I had asked for and received the entire Rocky series for my birthday. This month I finally got around and watched the entire series. This may surprise people,(or make them angry) but I think Sylvester Stallone is really a genius when it comes to the writing of the series.  First off, tying in the first Rocky fight with America’s bicentennial and placing it in Philadelphia is a very smart move and definitely one of the reasons people get so involved with the series.  Of course the training scenes is another big part.  Ending the movie the way Stallone does is a smart move.  The fight becomes about him defying the odds and doing the unexpected.  He doesn’t win it, as is the cliche in so many movies (and would become the cliche for most of the series),but instead ties Apollo Creed. It allows him to win in a way, but not really because Creed keeps his title.  A tie also occurs in the last film of the series, Rocky Balboa. As mentioned before, him winning had become expected, and a tie serves the same function as in the first Rocky movie. 

Him coming back from such incredible hardships in the sequels is another genius move. Rocky three has him facing not only having been defeated but the death of Mickey.  Part 4 has the death of Apollo Creed, the pride of America, and having to train  in the Soviet Union. Part five involves him losing everything and going back to his roots.  These elements don’t necessarily make all the movies great but it does help to keep the series afloat. Probably the two cheesiest films of the series is part three and four.  Especially the training scenes in part three, when Apollo and Rocky race on the beach and hug. What also makes it cheesy is the flashiness of the 80’s. 

 Lastly what makes the writing so great, is not that the series is about boxing, but in my opinion that it really is about his love for Adrian. All the movies involve him in some way fighting to prove himself to Adrian. The ending of part two is an example of this, when he yells “Yo Adrian I did it”, but the clearest is the very final scene in the entire series,where he simply places roses on her grave and then walks away. Overall, the Rocky series is very tightly written.

Oggi ho riguardato Rocky Balboa. Lo avevo visto al cinema e devo dire che la seconda volta mi ha permesso di notare altre cose che in prima visione non si vedono. Ho pensato di scrivere le mie opinioni personali e pubblicarle, anche se in ritardo rispetto all’uscita del film…

Nel 1975, uno sconosciuto cresciuto nei bassifondi di Hell’s Kitchen, assistette ad un’incontro di Boxe, dove un certo Chuck Wepner, bianco, pugile peso massimo dalla forte potenza, stava sfidando l’allora campione del mondo Muhammad Alì in un incontro valido per il titolo. I pronostici erano tutti a favore di Alì naturalmente, ma accadde qualcosa di inaspettato. Chuck riuscì a resistere ben 15 riprese. Alla nona mandò il Campione al tappeto! Solo altri tre puglili sono riusciti a mandarcelo… Poi per 5 riprese Alì  lo mitragliò finché Wepner non si piegò su un ginocchio. L’arbitro decise che l’incontro doveva terminare lì: KO tecnico. Vinse Alì, ma la sua fu una vittoria sudatissima. Nessuno era riuscito a metterlo in difficoltà come in quel momento.

Il nostro sconosciuto volle allora ispirarsi a questa storia e fu così che nacque uno degli eroi cinematografici di tutti i tempi, colui che per anni ha fatto sognare milioni di persone e che è sempre stato l’esempio lampante della correttezza e dell’onestà: Rocky Balboa. Nel 1976 Sylvester Stallone salì sull’Olimpo Hollywoodiano per la sua storia e divenne uno degli attori più rinomati di tutto il mondo. Il suo film vinse tre Oscar e piacque sia ai critici, che al pubblico.
A distanza di 30 anni, ecco che il nostro Sly ripropone un’altro capitolo, l’ultimo, della saga del pugile di Philadelphia. Il suo è il tentativo di dare lustro e soprattutto un degno finale alla leggenda Rocky, intaccata molto negativamente dal quinto. Tutto sommato ci riesce. Il film non è un capolavoro, ma è il giusto epilogo. Di più non si poteva fare.
Girato in 5 settimane, con un budget limitatissimo, ha molti aspetti che mancano negli altri Rocky, ma che, per questo lo rendono più originale e “umile”. Nessuna scena è stata girata in uno studio cinematografico, nessuna attrezzatura speciale è stata usata, sono state usate solo telecamere a spalla, non sono state usate comparse… tutto è stato naturale. L’incontro tra l’ultracinquantenne Rocky e il campione del mondo Mason Dixon, interpretato dal vero Campione del mondo dei mediomassimi Antonio Tarver, è stato girato durante un vero incontro di Boxe a Los Angeles. Il pubblico era vero e le riprese sono state volutamente fatte con la telecamera usata per girare tutti i combattimenti e mandarli in onda nelle televisioni. I due attori se le sono date veramente. L’effetto è quello di asistere ad un vero incontro di Boxe in tv. Durante le riprese Stallone ha riportato fratture alle mani e ai piedi. Si è allenato duramente per raggiungere la forma. Alla fine è riuscito a rimodellare il suo fisico, anche se i segni del tempo non danno comunque scampo al sessantenne attore.
Il film è incentrato sull’”uomo” Rocky.
Ormai a cinquant’anni suonati non ha nient’altro che un ristorante dedicato alla moglie scomparsa e una rabbia interiore che vorrebbe fare uscire per liberarsene. Rocky vive di ricordi, gli manca Adriana, la va a trovare tutti i giorni al cimitero ed ha un rapporto conflittuale con il figlio che vive all’ombra dell’ex-pugile. Rocky vuole dimostrare, soprattutto a sè stesso, che anche se il corpo invecchia, lo spirito da combattente non muore mai. Sylvester Stallone lancia un messaggio chiaro, forse scontato ma efficace: “Nella vita non è importante saper picchiare, ma saper incassare per poi rialzarsi e rendere tutto più semplice!”. Fondamentalmente questa è la filosofia del personaggio Rocky. L’abbiamo trovata nel primo capitolo; è stata amplificata nel secondo, quando, dopo aver perso il primo incontro con Apollo Creed, si è rialzato e ha vinto la rivincita; l’abbiamo trovata anche negli altri. Era presente anche nel 5, ma le sue bruttezze estetiche e contenutistiche non ce l’hanno fatta notare. Questa è la filosofia dello stesso Sly, che ha voluto a tutti i costi fare il primo, quando tutti non volevano farlo, e ha voluto a tutti i costi dare un degno finale ad un eroe senza tempo con quest’ultimo capitolo.
Possiamo dividere il fil in due parti. La prima parte un pò lenta, è un’introspezione sul dolore di Rocky, sul come la sua vita sia stata spietata con lui. Lo stato d’animo del protagonista è paragonabile a quello di un animale chiuso in gabbia, privato della sua libertà, che grida e che vuole a tutti i costi uscire. Le sequenze sono lente, quasi a  sottolineare il fatto che un cerchio, aperto nel 1976, sta per chiudersi definitivamente. La seconda parte è invece più dinamica. In essa si segue lo stesso filone dei precedenti capitoli: l’allenamento, le musiche, l’incontro finale.
A me il film è piaciuto, non mi aspettavo chissà che, e le mie attese non sono state tradite. L’unica cosa che non mi è piaciuta è stata il doppiaggio, penoso. La mancanza della voce naturale dello Stallone italiano si fa sentire. Solo Ferruccio Amendola riusciva a dare quel tocco in più, quell’atmosfera magica che oggi, purtroppo, è andata via con lui. Deludente l’adattamento, anche perché alcune parti non sono state tradotte. C’è una scena in cui Rocky va alla vecchia palestra e dice “How’s going Mick?”. In italiano l’hanno tralasciata. L’attuale Campione del mondo Dixon non è il classico pugile cattivo come lo erano Clubber Lang e Ivan Drago, ma è un giovane che imparerà a rispettare Rocky e che trova, per la prima volta, qualcuno che riesce a metterlo in difficoltà, acquistando coraggio e umiltà e crescendo come sportivo.
Per concludere, il film è diverso dagli altri cinque capitoli, sia per la storia, sia per le tecniche cinematografiche utilizzate. L’unica cosa che è rimasta è l’umiltà di un eroe immortale, la sua saggezza e capacità di incassare i tanti colpi che la vita gli dà, rialzandosi sempre e comunque. Una conclusione-tributo degna del mito di Rocky; la fine dell’era del macho per Sylvester Stallone.

In seinem italienischen Lokal “Adriane’s” spaziert er durch die Tischreihen und gibt Anekdoten aus seinem Boxerleben zum Besten. Nachdem seine Ehefrau Adrian (Talia Shire) nach langjähriger Partnerschaft verstorben ist, wird der ehemalige Champ von Erinnerungen an die gemeinsamen Jahre gepeinigt. Regelmäßig besucht er ihr Grab auf dem städtischen Friedhof. Das Verhältnis zu seinem Sohn (Milo Ventimiglia) ist angespannt. Dem Junior fällt es schwer, sich aus dem übergroßen Schatten des Vaters zu bewegen. Auch Pauli (Burt Young) hat schon bessere Zeiten erlebt. Der ehemalige Trainer des ‘Italian Stallion’ benebelt seine trostlose Existenz mit Alkohol. Doch dann wendet sich das Schicksal, denn der amtierende Boxweltmeister Mason “The Line” Dixon (Antonio Tarver) gibt Balboa die Chance für ein Comeback. Wird Rock es noch einmal schaffen? Kommentar Alex Cee: Boxweltmeister Antonio Tarver, der in „Rocky Balboa“ den unbeliebten Schwergewichts-Champion Mason „The Line“ Dixon spielt, bringt es auf den Punkt. Während der Aufnahme des Boxfights im Vorprogramm eines echten WM-Kampfs in Las Vegas bedurfte es keiner Aufforderung des Publikums, die Figur Mason Dixon auszubuhen. „Man nicht gegen Rocky Balboa kämpfen und dabei erwarten, gemocht zu werden“, so Traver zu dieser einmaligen Erfahrung. Ganz klar: Rocky ist neben Muhammad Ali der bekannteste und wohl auch beliebteste „Boxer“ aller Zeiten!

Die Geschichte des „Italian Stallion“, des italienischen Hengst, ist nicht nur eine nun sechs Teile umfassende Filmreihe über die Karriere eines fiktiven Profi-Boxers. Sie ist in jeder Episode auch eine Autobiographie des geistigen Vaters Sylvester Stallone, angefangen von der ultimativen Underdog-Story im ersten Rocky-Teil, über den Aufstieg zum Weltmeister im zweiten, den empfindlichen und schmerzhaften Rückschlägen im dritten, der politischen Instrumentalisierung im vierten und dem unweigerlichen, sozialen und moralischen Abstieg einer Legende im fünften Film. Insbesondere die 1990 abgedrehte Episode V enttäuschte auf ganzer Linie und entblößte Stallone als abgehalfterten und uninspirierten Actiondarsteller, der für eine siebenstellige Gage wirklich alle Qualitätskriterien über Bord wirft. Vollkommen zu Recht begruben Kritiker und Fans „Rocky“ auf dem Friedhof der Filmgeschichte, als mahnendes Beispiel für die kreative Saftpresse Hollywood, die jeden erfolgreichen Stoff solange ausgequetscht, bis selbst die hartgesottensten Fans die Kinoleinwand mit Tomaten bewerfen.

16 Jahre mussten vergehen, bis sich Stallone an einen weiteren „Rocky“ wagte. 16 Jahre, in denen Sly die Weisheit des Alters küsste und ihn daran erinnerte, dass es nicht das Geld ist, was von einem bleibt. In Rückbesinnung auf den ersten Teil der Saga ist es Stallone gelungen, einen nachdenklichen Film zu drehen, der sich weniger mit dem Kampf, sondern mehr mit den Umständen des Lebens beschäftigt. Gebeutelt vom Schicksal und mit der eigenen Vergänglichkeit hadernd, stellt sich Balboa seinem letzten Fight und besiegt schließlich die „Dämonen“ der Vergangenheit. Dass Rocky den Showdown mit Mason „The Line“ Dixon knapp nach Punkten verliert, spielt dabei keine Rolle mehr und ist nur eine Randnotiz wert.

Dies ist nicht die einzige Analogie zum ersten Teil, die Balboa ebenfalls als sportlich unterlegen aus dem Ring steigen lässt. „Rocky Balboa“ schließt die Klammer zum ersten, Oscar-prämierten Film und versöhnt nicht nur die Freunde des Boxerdramas. Sylvester Stallone wahrt das Erbe einer Figur, die wie kaum eine zweite in der Geschichte Hollywoods (auch John Rambo nicht) mit seinem geistigen Vater zu verschmelzen scheint. „Rocky“ ist erwachsen geworden und verlässt die Bühne mit aufrechtem Gang. Mehr kann ein Fan nicht verlangen. 7 von 10 Punkten

Amb la nova entrega de la saga d’Indiana Jones al caure, tots pensem amb el mateix, no esta un poc major Harrison Ford per a fer pel·licules d’acció?? Si ja estaba encasellat!!!

I es que lo d’allargar sagues de pel·licules no es nou. Tots tenim en ment les ultimes pel·licules, d’acció que han passat pels cinemes últimament. El problema està en que els actors no son eterns com els seus personatges. Podríem dir que lo de “cine para adultos” s’ha convertit en “cine para ancianos”, Que no esta el iaio pa molts meneos?? Doncs el digitalitzarem i que s’encarreguen els dels efectes especials, cap problema, al actor se li posa una indasec (per si perd líquids) i que es quede mirant unes obres mentres tant. Com suggeria hi han molts mes exemples del que implica allargar una saga mes del compte:

La primera que em ve al cap es Star Trek VI: Aquell país desconegut. Encara que també podrien haver-la anomenat Star Trek VI: Asilo espacial. Per a mostra un botó:

Un altra un poc mes actual seria Arma Letal 4, reconec que aquesta vaig anar al cine a vore-la, però ja em va donar la sensació de que lo únic letal, era que els donara un atac al cor als personatges amb tant d’esforç. Així i tot el tràiler es graciós:

Un altre que ve per partida doble es el Stallone. No content amb la sexta entrega de Rocky, també exhuma a John Rambo. Es un dels clars candidats a “Abuelete del año”, premi que entrega l’Associació Paco Martinez Soria.
