Ronnie Wood is to join forces with Kenny Jones and Ian McLagan to perform as The Faces.

However, lead singer Rod Stewart will not be taking part in next month’s gig at the Royal Albert Hall in London, so guest vocalists will perform in his place.

Bassist Ronnie Lane, who died in 1997, will be replaced by former Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman.

Of course, Wyman and Wood have played together before, as the guitarist became a full-time member of the Stones in the mid-1970s.

McLagan later went on to become a session musician, while Jones joined The Who after the death of drummer Keith Moon.

The gig will raise money for PRS for Music Members’ Benevolent Fund, a charity which supports musicians experiencing financial problems.

Commenting on the upcoming event, Wood said: “This will be so special for us, staging a reunion for such a wonderful and prestigious event.”

Em seu próximo álbum, os integrantes do The Killers devem gravar covers, sendo que cada um escolherá 3 músicas, eles gravaram as músicas na estrada, enquanto fazem a turnê.

Uma das escolhidas seria Young Turks, de Rod Steward, que foi escolhida pelo baterista Ronnie Vannucci, as outras poderão ser músicas da banda Genesis e de Tom Waits.

The Faces

LONDRES.- Los veteranos músicos británicos Ronnie Wood y Rod Stewart grabaron su primer álbum juntos en 30 años, semanas después de haber confirmado la reunión del popular grupo de la década de 1970 llamada “The Faces”.

El legendario dúo planea salir de gira junto al resto de los miembros originales de la banda, Kenney Jones, Ian McLagan y un bajista invitado para reemplazar al fallecido Ronnie Lane.

Según escribió este miércoles el diario inglés “The Sun”, la banda británica grabó su nuevo material tras realizar un viaje “muy inspirador” por Costa Rica, las islas Bermudas y Miami.

Faces, también conocida como The Faces, fue una banda de rock formada en 1969 del grupo Small Faces, cuando Steve Marriott abandonó su otra banda, para formar Humble Pie.
Ron Wood (guitarra) y Rod Stewart (voz), ambos procedentes de The Jeff Beck Group, se unieron a los anteriores miembros de Small Faces Ronnie Lane (bajo), Ian McLagan (teclados) y Kenney Jones (batería), para completar la formación.

El grupo lanzó cuatro discos, todos ellos de gran éxito comercial, “First Step” (1970), “Long Player” (1971), “A Nod Is as Good as a Wink…to a Blind Horse” (1971) y “Ooh La La” (1973).

…. well I’m not into NEW records…. though I am sometime, these are just a few albums and artists that I’ve been listening to over the past few months that have been slowly shaping the direction of this record.

Floyd Cramer – I know this is a fairly unorthadox place to start, but Cramer’s song “Last Date” has been floating around my head for the past few years, particularly in relation to this record.  I know it’s not the hippest jam or guy, but very relaxing and sounds great.

Neil Diamond - songs “You Got To Me,” “Cherry Cherry,” etc. – I’ve really enjoyed Neil’s early stuff for a long time, and it’s been a secret (or not so secret) influence on my playing.  I went with my parents and aunt to see him in Charlotte and was really inspired by his arrangements, particularly constant use of acoustics.

Kyu Sakamoto – Sukiyaki, Acker Bilk – Stranger On The Shore, any good 50s/60s instrumentals – This has been a strange phenomenon that’s been developing over the past few years.  I’m very into instrumentals that sound to most like elevator music – but to me the sounds in production and the arrangements are so creative

Bob Dylan – John Wesley Harding and Nashville Skyline – these are always two of my favorite Dylan records, absolutely love the sound on them in addition to the songwriting.

Traveling Wilburys – Vol 1 – Embrace the acoustics -  Wilburys were big without being wild.  Jeff Lynne capably produces.

Rod Stewart – Every Picture Tells A Story, Creedence Clearwater Revival – Pendulum, Willy and the po boys - I would be lying if I didn’t admit to being into swampy rock right now – I can’t really say how these records would affect mine, but I’m enjoying them right now.

Wieder mal eine Reunion, die kein Mensch wirklich braucht. Diesmal geht es um Rod Stewards Band “The Faces”, die sogar mal, im Vergleich zu Stewards Solokarriere, richtig gut waren. Auf seiner Myspaceseite postete Ian McLagan:

The rehearsals were a lot of fun, everybody was in fine form and things are looking good for a gig or two next year, but these things take time to work out and I’m just going to wait until there’s something solid to report, so I’m not getting excited just yet.

Neben Steward und McLagen werden noch Ronnie Wood, Kenney Jones und Flea (Chili Peppers) mit von der Partie sein. Ich hoffe mal, dass die Tour so gut wird, wie das Led Zeppelin Konzert in der O2 Arena. Wenn nicht, können die alten Säcke Herren es auch gleich sein lassen.

I was in Singapore from 23-26 November and managed to meet up with Joyce Lim (JusDanz). We have not met or communicate before although we’re quite near in terms of locality, but it took a common friend from UK to introduce us both… haha! Thanks to Mike, we met up, had dinner and most importantly, danced together!

I “gatecrashed” into her class at YMCA about 45 mins after the class started and we met for the first time. She was recapping Sailing (Jo & John Kinser) to her beginners and I jumped in. I managed to pick it up easily as the steps are basic NC2S steps. Danced it for 2 rounds.

After that, Joyce and I demo-ed the dance Hare Ram to her beginners, and to both our surprises, the class had already known about the dance Hare Ram!

After class, Joyce and another student, Matina, took me for some sumptuous seafood dinner at Newton. Yummy!! Thanks to Joyce for a wonderful night! Will see you and your students again in 2 weeks time, this time in JB!

That’s how fun line dancing can be… you make lots of friends from another country/state who share the same passion. When you travel, you don’t have to worry about missing your classes, because you still get to dance in the place u travel to!

Ele diz querer reviver sua banda original, com a formação original, exceto pelo baixista Ronnie Lane, que morreu em 97, o guitarrista Ron Wood, diz que quer participar da empreitada e que participará dos shows.

Ele diz que a banda voltará para tocar os velhos hits, nada de criar novo material. O The Faces acabou em 75, e o Ron Wood foi parar nos Rolling Stones, se eles retornarem serão a 2ºbanda dos anos 1960/70 a voltar a ativa em 2009. O Led Zeppelin recentemente anuciou fazer uma turnê mundial em 2009, contudo não está certo da adesão do vocalista Robert Plant, o que sinceramente vai deixar o Led sem ser o Led, se vocês me entendem.
